India is not like what outsiders think it is India is just like whole European countries together as one Every state there are different races, language, culture And under those states there are more different ethnic minority groups, It has around 1500 language and dialects and every Indian races are different from one another including their mindset and way of behaviour Its all united as one country

I find it crazy that India is so big and full of so much history, yet i don’t think I’ve ever been taught one thing about it. I don’t remember it ever being mentioned in school, except for when we had to label countries on a world map.

Most of my engineering courses in New York were taught by Indian professors. I have many good memories of kind, humble and extremely bright men who had compassion on their students, who were often struggling with the material. I have also worked with Indian men and women over the years and had all pleasant interactions and memories. Fantastic people. God bless them all.

Most Westerners don't realize that India is a complicated place. I lived there for well over a year living in the north and south . Cuisine changes a lot, but basic Hindi and English is spoken everywhere. India was one of the first civilizations to "urbanise" and even at the time of Buddha, India was very urbanized. India invented Zero and many other advanced mathematical ideas. It was NOT the Islamic people. They got it from the Indians through trade routes.

My batchmate during highschool is half North Indian - half Filipino so she was always chosen for beauty pageants because of her white skin. Our province also had a half South Indian girl who was bullied when she was young but she joined an international pageant and proved that dark skin is also beautiful.

In kerala, South India, where I live, most of the people look like a mix of many races. Also the racial composition differs from community to community. Even neighbours look like people of different origins. Some people are pretty fair wheres some are pretty dark. Also you can see different skin colour or genetics within a single family. But still the people love each other irrespective of the differences and live in harmony. I believe beauty is only skin deep.

India needs to be treated both as a country and as an area with continent size diversity. This consciousness is necessary for both us - the citizens and foreigners as it helps understand issues of regionalism and colourism which should be discussed and resolved rather than denied.

To me South Indians & North Indians look the same. Same features just darker or lighter. They look the same.

North Indians are mixed race as they have been invaded and settled by many groups of people. Like Turks, Persians, Arabs, Scythians, Huna, Kushans and more. North Indians can range from brown to really Pale.

I am from Kerala. Most North Indians think I am from the North. Aryans started moving into India through Afghanistan a million years ago and settled in India. Many of them moved South and intermarried with the original people of the south.

As an Indian I could tell you that all Indians from the south and the North have both dark and light skinned people. But forget about the skin color. We are all human beings living on this earth.

Absolute rubbish. Most Indians 72% are pure Aryans and found even in the deep South of India. Color changes due to climatre many castes in the Punjab though Aryans are dark due to harsh sunlight like the people of Southern Iran, who are Aryans as well,. An Aryan Iyer from deep South is often lighter than a Punjabi who works in the fields,. While in the colder regions of the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent people can be lighter than most Europeans. The Aryan race is indigenous to Northwestern Indian subcontinent and fused region of Central Asia.

Fun fact: northern India contributes the least to Indian economy excluding the country's capital (wherein it is migrants from parts outside north India that have more jobs). It is the least productive part of the country. It is the deccan and southern parts of India that contributes most to the Indian economy. However north India is the 'face' of India because they've always been dominating in population and are fairer/good-looking in the eyes of most people. They get to make the administrative decisions while south Indians have to feed them and in return they get nothing but discrimination. Northeast India is a whole different story - to many Indians they don't even exist, to the govt, it doesn't even exist, unless there's an election coming up in northeast.

South Indians Are Very Good I Like South India

Afghanistan is Central Asia, not the Middle East. Therefore, classifying Pakistan as Middle Eastern because it borders Afghanistan makes no sense.

Fun Fact: Marco Polo said the far South of India was the only part of the world (he did not go to Africa) where the people thought darker skin was more beautiful than lighter skin. That's not the case any more, judging by the matrimonial adverts, where everyone claims that their daughter is "fair" or has a "wheatish" complexion.

This rather long comment is addressed to my fellow Indians. I can't fathom the state-wise divide that we Indians keep building and deepening within us. I've witnessed this in so many Indian communities in other countries as well. Why do we Indian people feel the need to proclaim our region-based superiority through denigrating and belittling other areas and peoples in our own country? India is diverse, as are its peoples and cultures. We might be able to explain some of this diversity if we look into our long history. If south India can stake claim to gentler, simpler and more grounded people, northern and western Indians can rationalize our more direct and aggressive traits due to the centuries of wars and invasions that were inflicted upon us by foreign invaders. Please remember that North and Western India is where most of the invaders came from for centuries into India and we were the ones who were looted, pillaged, killed, slaughtered, and often subjugated by these rulers for hundreds of years (e.g. the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Emperors before the British colonized India). Just look at the warrior histories of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab and see how these peoples, and I count myself among them, have had to develop aggressive resilience to survive with our culture, religion and heritage intact over these centuries of attack and foreigner rule. (BTW I am a proud Sikh women who was raised in Uttarakhand and now lives in USA). If we Indians are to truly realize and live with the vision of an undivided India which welcomes and embraces all of its diversity, we cannot have whole regions of the country vilified as I have seen in this comment section and, alas, all too often in millions of other forums. Can we not just talk about what is great about the specific Indian regions we come from without feeling the need to also vilify other Indian regions and different Indians? My vision of India is that of a truly unified, 21st century country which despite its colonial past and even longer history of being invaded and ruled by foreigners, is now marching with resilience, determination and strength towards a future full of hope and progress. A country where we can address issues of misogyny, patriarchy, gender violence, education, illiteracy, poverty, healthcare, water security, safe housing, employment, climate change, and so many more. It will be our commitment to finding common ground that will help us tackle these pressing problems. I sincerely believe that nothing is to be gained by constantly bickering amongst ourselves about who is better or worse. I hope to find more like-minded people here with the hope that we will soon all be united in our common hopes and aspirations for ALL of India and ALL Indians. Peace to all. I’m originally from Kenyan and glad to see so many other countries with unique ethnicities out there living in the same country. Love knowing more about the world around us and the diversity nature. I live in the US where some people don’t understand or agree with so many cultures, religions and languages co-existing together and are scared of what they don’t understand... They see everything only as either ‘black’ or ‘white’... and ‘Christian’ or ‘Muslim’. 🤷🏻‍♂️ *Usually you hear comments like “If you don’t like it here just leave” or “We only speak English and if you speak any other foreign language, especially Spanish you’re frowned upon” by some racists. The rest are open minded great people in America.

I 've worked with Indian ladies (Nurses) from different religions all were wonderful and very friendly my roommate Zakira from Ahmad Abad was polite beautiful and friendly Indians in General that I 've met while working in Saudi Arabia were very nice people love from a Somali girl

North Indians and South Indians are more diverse than dark and light. I am a Sri Lankan and when I travelled in India the Northern people thought I am from North India ! When I visited the South they thought I am from the South. Love the shades in culture and in skin tone.

Hey, just fyi, the Indo-Aryan hypothesis (bc it is not proven and therefore not actually a theory in any scientific sense) has been thoroughly debunked and has its roots in racism intended to divide the populations and ascribe any advancements made by the indigenous populations to 'outsiders'. 1. The genetic analysis of the population has revealed North and South Indians are the same genetically 2. They found cows in (I forget the two countries) in Europe and Iran which share some same genetic links to India but not to each other, indicating that Aryans didn't come INTO India but rather the vedic-people of the time, travelled out. I know your intention was not bad but pls seriously reconsider either remaking this video after a more thorough research or taking it down. Preferably you could remake it with your updated knowledge

I'm Mexican and I would always get confused with being Indian or Persian. I have big eyes and high cheek bones. But many would tell me I look northern Indian because I'm not that dark. I'm a light brown.

So Indian is basically ethnically diverse as Africa and share from dark to light and different features and skin hues as well. You want to be amazed look at different tribes and ethnics of Africa it will blow your mind how one continent changes features.

The Caucasians (Europeans) created Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda, Africa, to divide and control the native population, and for this reason, the Rwanda Genocide occurred. The same attempts and inequalities Europeans also tried to create amongst Indians by separating Northern India and Southern India into "Aryans" VS "Dravidians" and further dividing Hinduism into 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes. And also read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who propagated the "Aryan Invasion" in Southern India to convert "Dravidians" into Christianity.
