Slight correction at 6:19 - Yan *forged* that prescript, so it makes way more sense that he knew that the Proxies would go to the Library next. I'm just dumb. BEFORE ANYTHING THIS VIDEO IS CONSTRUCTED ON MY OWN OPINION. I know some people likely have some different reasons for liking Yan or disliking him - I just wanted to talk about some common points people would likely share about enjoying Yan's character. So...audio quality. I've been in quarantine for a while now - a close family member of mine recently got the omicron variant of COVID-19. I've also had flu-like symptoms recently, but all of my COVID tests have shown negative in the past 2 weeks. Because of the quarantine, I don't have access to where I usually do my recordings, and you know the flu-like symptoms also make me sound fucking dead and for some reason 'moistens' my voice? idk Sorry about that. I'll try to see if something can be done before the next video? But it's not looking good - I'll definitely...DEFINITELY have another video for this month, though - so keep your eyes out for that.
Right? The amount the Index has planned out or could have planned out is ridiculous. It's almost confusing at points because how much does it really know? Did it know about L. Corp's stuff? It is 'the will of the city' - but what does that really mean?
I love him because he is cute, he is kind at first glance but in fact he is cruel and will goes as far as hurting others to prove himself that he has free will, and his demise is sad to read, I like him so much I wish he can have a happy ending if we could see him in future Project Moon games.
its project moon, what do you expect.they LITERALLY kill off good characters before the game even starts😭(e.g the patron librarians/sephirah and rolands wife)
Let's be honest we all need something like Yan in our life nothing can expressed how much i am obssesed with this cute femboy with a huge 4ss sword that said his character is quite tragic
i like yan because i love the index even if theyre a bit screwed up, he's complex and has a nice voice, i like his ost and i love a good distortion, even if i felt bad for him in the end.
it could be that his VA also voices Xiao in Genshin- I am kidding. Yan, at first is someone we root for as he actively expresses his disgust and comtempt for Index's "commands". He has noble goals but is a bit naïve as he struggles to go against his organization. But, it is all the most heartbreaking when he finds out his "free will" was of the commands of the Index. Instead of refuting, denying or even fighting against it to manifest his own EGO, he instead gives in and accepts it and that's why he is so popular. Yan wants to change, he wants the people to break out and be free like him to choose. He actively pursues the truth and change very early on and we find his journey endearing.
>it could be that his VA also voices Xiao in Genshin TRUE THOUGH FR - his voice range is pretty amazing. I fucking love his VA. Other than that, I completely agree! His story is framed in a pretty tragic light, for good reason. Throwing away his belief due to a huge reveal that completely destroyed it, in his eyes. And it still somehow leaves the Index shrouded in mystery, with its symbolism. And that's a pretty major factor as well - the Index's systems, how they work, how they made his life hell before completely destroying it. The sentiments he express right before fully distorting are interesting as well, as you mentioned. "I'm just a tiny part of the world, I can never change the wishes of all people...there's no way I can defy this flow." To accept your position as a 'person' - one that has no impact, and one that had every one of their actions orchestrated by something bigger than themselves. It's something most of us have done, accepting that truly, nothing will come from us being alive. That all we can do is make the best of our situations, and continue living. Because of that, a lot of us find it pretty easy to empathise with his situation, which makes him far more popular!
@@HazIosefka Also, VA of Gloria, Elena and Xiao is Voiced by Mondstadt's idol and Liyue's Quirky chef....A BLOOD SUCKING VAMPIRE, A 10 FEET TALL HALF ROBOT GIRL ABOMINATION AND A FIREY HELBRED WIELDING HOUSEWIFE IS XIANGLING AND BARBARA.
@@cookeyjarsgamingshenanigan5034 or Iori and Paimon. Some of these Korean VAs are really skilled - it's actually ridiculous to me. I had a hard time accepting that Gebura was *Venti* as well like what?
Sleek outfit with a very distinct color scheme makes for a good character. Add in the typical fucked up PM story and you have Yan. I don't even remember him being voiced when I last finished the game, should probably send a playthrough again...
I loved Yan, He looks so cool and is one of the nicest guys in the city but then his distortion happened and i hated him for the pain the bossfight was (and still is)
i love him bc of his boss theme, and i can sort of relate to him in a way. also, he's very androgynous. i love him with my heart and soul. i want his voice.
It's heavily implied he did a lot more than one month worth of Prescripts. "But Yan's been a good boy, fulfilling many Prescripts *throughout his life*?" - Gloria, Index Proxies. 얀샋ㄷ요무 's page also adds to this. "The nightmares have been with me for a good majority of my life. If I close my eyes, the memory of the time haunts me-and if I open my eyes, a reality I can hardly bear unfolds." "I trace back the nightmares to remember the past; everything was over, and I planned to follow them to death, but I didn't have the courage to end my own life, so I… I picked up the Prescript that I thought would spell my doom at last and read it slowly." These 'nightmares' are the memory of what he considers unjustifiable actions that he had to follow due to the Prescripts. And while that could mean that he only followed prescripts for 'a short period of time', Gloria's statement somewhat contradicts that. It just means he's worked as a Messenger for a really long time.
it's implied that he's been following the prescripts - and suffering because of them - since childhood! it's specifically his work as a messenger that he's been doing for only a month
