1) Always respect the power of your vehicle 2) Never put other motorists or pedestrians at risk 3) Understand that RWD vehicles have certain limitations 4) If you wanna fuck around, do it in a desolate area where you're not going to crash into a person, car, or wall 5) Be extra cautious if it even looks like it's going to rain and don't be that asshole attempting to drive it in the snow.

I don't knock the kids who go out and buy new ponies. They want to get in with the "other boys" and make an imprint on the car scene. The problem I have is that a lot of them are not willing to put aside their pride and learn how to drive. They want to believe that the car will do all the work for them. I'm not at all completely knowledgeable in cars. I still have a plethora of questions for all kinds of random people I meet at a car meet. A little humility/humbleness goes a long way in the car scene, no matter if it's Muscle, JDM, or Euro.

@@tnunited30 im 23, went from driving a 90 pickup to a V6 mustang, maybe not as powerful as the V8, but it has enough power to show how shitty these cars handle lol. Fun to drive, but they really do handle for shit. For anyone new to driving something rear wheel drive, i'd recomend finding some less populated roads with some turns, etc and just kind of work your way up in speed, you can feel the reat end start come come out and just don't freak out, stay cool and you'll be good. don't immediately give it hell and just kind of stay comfortable as you go. when i first started driving my truck i caught a wicked fish tail on accident just driving around one rainy day, was a real wake up call on how to handle anything rear wheel, few years later and i drive the same truck in the winter for fun (it's rear wheel, street tires) and its' great. so, long story short, take it slow, have caution when driving and just take it easy, let the car do some work, but the real work comes from your head disclaimer: 2012 V6, manual and i could barely afford the base model, so don't knock me lol

Do what I do, even if you're only putting a few gallons in, always add octane booster/fuel treatment (I use Lucas which is a injector cleaner/octane booster). I also try to do at least 4-5 gallons minimum whenever I'm filling up though.
@christophermay4366

Joey Galluzzo I've worked in gas stations many years...the pumps have a system that pulls everything back and returns it to the tank....california is strict with this...other states don't have the environmental laws....I get people from other states and countries that don't know how to put gas because california gas nozzles are sensitive to vapor release and they'll shut off automatically if you don't hold the nozzle in the car....

Couldn't agree more when you say that you've gotta get to know the car, gradually if you're smart, by taking it off the mainstream roads and start hitting back roads and parking lots. Get a real feel for the powerband, wheelbase, tranny...the car... so it gets to feeling very natural in almost any driving situation and road condition. Almost like an extension of your body, a limb, and the driving experience for a domestic will become second to none. Either that or prepare to be thrust into chaos when you least expect it. Maybe wear a diaper, buy really good insurance and pray you don't kill someone. For a domestic, I love the Stangs. FUN...when you know your cars limits, capabilities and most importantly, your own. Short wheelbases, rear wheel drive and tons of torque is a magical combination when you're in full control.
@fordltd1983
@fordltd1983 7 лет назад
one of the biggest issues i've seen is when the car gets a bit sideways they let off the gas and the car hooks and goes wherever it's pointed. Glad you referenced the foxbody crowd. The fox however would spin you 360 most of the time if you didn't have a clue what you were doing and gassed it. Been foxing it up for 20 years now.

My 82 Fox body was quite predictable. Student Body Right every time it hard launched over 2500 RPM. (Manual Tranny with Center Force 2 clutch) It was a very controllable glide and would straighten out quite nicely. I also put many hours of seat time in the car to get it's personality understood before I went hunting for Porche's and BMW's in So Cal. The weight distribution for that year was 60/40, so it made it easy to pivot on the front and hold a circle. It would get away from you if not careful. J turns were a real gas.

I'd say that Fox body is possibly the best car ever made to go in a straight line, factory. S197 is my favorite look so far. The new ones are definitely the sportiest, almost a mix of a New Age and a S197 or something, but definitely a cool looking car. maxibon actually, if you raced a kart on slicks in the rain, you’ll have VASTLY more car control than most people. A locked rear axle promotes massive BULK understeer on turn in followed by BULK oversteer once the turn is commenced. Combine that with an ultra short wheelbase and you have the perfect recipe for a SAFE training tool.

Great advice. Take it from a 62 year old dude that has owned all kinds of fairly performance cars, done some rally and slalom racing, drove truck, millions of miles accident free but none of it was in one of these babies. I started with a new 21 GT, successfully put 8,000 miles on it and traded it in for a Roush. With great power comes great responsibility. It took me a month of driving to get up to the point of trying a burnout with the GT and how right you are, they do like to get snaky. I got the Roush just before snow and only drove it about 200 miles, but it demands a lot of respect. They are incredible cars, but you got to get used to what you are dealing with just like the man says. Right on the money!

I remember back when I was around 19 years old I had bought and 89 5.0 mustang. Before that I had 2 front wheel drive cars. The third or 4th day I had the car the pavement was a little wet. I stomped the gas medal around 25mph and the back end came around to meet the front end. I nearly hit the curb but managed some how to steer out of it. So long story short I learned a valuable lesson that day. I never got that close to losing control again. I learned to counter steer and know where to draw the line when the car was starting get out of my control.

I thought I was going to be a squid when I purchased my first mustang (21 GT), but it turns out that driving v8 trucks my whole life prepared me pretty well. In the sense of never disrespecting your vehicle's power, always expect an unexpected loss of control, and never swoon without practicing. I only started losing the rear end on purpose recently, but was surprised at how controllable it is. Honestly, I'm a little surprised at how soon Ford wants its traction control to take over, even with it off. Advanced traction control being off might resolve that, but just tapping it off once gets the job done if I'm trying to skirt. Tested out 19x10/11 wheels on Nitto NT555s and installed my lowering springs yesterday. Love me my country roads.

I don't get you at all man. I've been racing for 20 years and carry a few different types of racing licenses, and I'd never advise anyone to go "hoonin'" on the streets - that's what the track is for. The street is where the bad accidents really happens. If you put your car into the wall at the track, well at least you only hurt yourself and there's usually a medical staff. When people go out on the street in cars they can't drive, that's where it usually ends really bad and spectators are hit. Fact is this. Sometimes you go to the track and there are newbies, and so what? We've all been there. Instead of making a video that bags on those who don't know how to use the waterbox, why not make a video that shows how to use it, and tells those that run tires with treads to stay out of it all together, as they don't even benefit from a burnout. When you see a new guy at the track, do you shout at him and make him nervous for not doing the right thing, or do you help him stage and do his burnout the right way? Think about it buddy.

And do you find it odd that the parking lots at kkklan rallies have no Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus, Volvo, Subaru,...,... brand cars, but no shortage of muscle cars and lifted trucks. Hmmmm? I'm not a fan of safe driving either. Life is far too short to waste it going the speed limit from A to B. I'm usually between 10 and 60 over the speed limit, and haven't been in an accident for 20 years. You should read up on how speed limits are arrived at. It has nothing to do with safety. Why do you think the same cross country highway changes speed limits many times between LA and NY, when road conditions are the same.

Strangles, think about it this way, take a little VTEC car and force it onto the VTEC cam and you will have chop (and run like shit below 4krpm lol), now think of the coyote as having vtec (i know sounds dumb lol) but instead of the higher more aggressive cam specs being an on/off switch its fed in for the most power and good quick starting and drivability down low and a smooth idle. Only difference would be VTEC raises valve lift where our setups dont. Also you can have a high lift high duration cam not be choppy on the LS motors, and you can take a stock spec LS camshaft and only change the overlap and get chop.

My 14 GT's rear bounced like a basketball the first time I took it down the track at MIR. I quickly found out that the soft runner bushings that the factory put in for NVH reasons was not good for quick 1/4 mile times. After I replaced the rear UCA with and adjustable one and got rid of the garbage lowers the car squatted better off the line without the wheel hop and deflection and felt more like my old 90 LX did back in the day when leaving the line. I would suggest that anyone with a Coyote GT do the rear suspension first before trying to go faster. The GT500's sound great, I have them with a Lethal ORH and it sounds like a Mustang should. That aluminum corrosion is terrible, I had to have the hood of my 14 replaced by the dealer under warranty back in the summer of 2015 because it was bubbling along the front lip.

A few years ago a Mustang driver crashed into the back of my Jeep Commander. He was spinning tires at every stoplight and ran right into me. It was during a Mustang cruise night here in my small town. It was a 10 or 15 year old Mustang being driven some old dumb ass who wanted to be noticed. Since there are millions of Mustangs out there, it is hard for any one driver to get noticed on a Mustang cruise night. There is nothing that stands out about a 10 or 15 year old Mustang unless you beat the hell out of it and do burn outs at every stop light. The dumb ass behind me did a burn out every stop light and then stomped the brakes to stop before hitting me. On the last stoplight he could not stop and slammed into the back of my Jeep. It destroyed the front end of his car and did a little damage to my rear bumper and trailer hitch trim. His shit box was towed away, I left under my own power, and his insurance paid for the damage to my car. He was a total dumb ass.

People crash them because they are ignorant, have no talent, and think they are Michael Schumacher. I drive for a living and have been racing for 25 years and it's obvious that people crash fast cars and bikes because they think because someone handed them a license because they drove around the block and backed between a few cones that they can handle a 400hp vehicle when they don't even understand the vehicles limits or even the basics of auto racing.

The traction control system on mustang is the most driver friendly system I've ever experienced. It will let you spin tires and hang the rear out as long as you want, and won't kick in till you start getting super extreme. If you can drive it makes the car fun as fuck. If you can't you panic and crash into something

The live axle is not any different than the S550 around a corner it's only different if there are decent bumps/holes. Every rear wheel car spins out around a corner if the power given is more than the tire traction also. People really underestimate how many mustangs there are on the road compared to other rear wheel drive cars with lots of power and torque. Like in 2016 the mustang sold worldwide like more than all the other cars in it's class combined over 150,000. It's been the best seller in it's class for like 50 years in the US. Remember the Camaro was not even being made for 6 years from 2003 to 2008 so there are TONs more mustangs. On top of there being just more cars, there are more mustang only car shows and clubs etc than any other single car model. What this means is there are tons more situations where there are people around mustangs with cameras video taping at mustang exclusive events not to mention there are tons of mustangs at every other car show so the chance of taping the car accident and it being a mustang is even more inflated. There is nothing different about the mustang causing it to crash, it's just simple statistics. Every rear wheel car with power will spin around the same way if you turn the wheel and gas it. Quite honestly I am tired of the Mustang meme.

Not only that they're some of the cheapest so more people can afford to get in them (most don't know how to drive) and this pushes the number up too. This is the one thing that mustang haters like yourself can cling on to though you can't come up with anything else that is why this overused joke is still being beat to death all these years later, despite the fact you see way more dodges crashing these days. Sorry Alex, but I finally caught you in some BS . Yes it took me a couple of years but now I got your ass... Haha, seriously though, those single hose pumps have drain back pumps. Older styles did not but the current ones do. When the pump has met its demand it will block and drain any fuel left in the lines. The 3 flavor pump station uses a single pump diafram to pump up to the nozzle and when it stops a metering block turns on the fuel diafram until the line is empty, they don't leave fuel in the hose. Yes, I'm a electrician and I wire these pumps all the time, including the drain back diaframs

You are correct, sir. As a former gasoline delivery driver, I've had people come up to me and ask all sorts of questions that were mostly filled with misinformation. Like, don't buy gas while the truck is making a delivery because it stirs up the dirt at the bottom of the tank and you'll get it in your cars tank. Yeah, that's sooo not true. First, it's filtered before it gets in the trucks tank. Second, it's filtered twice, before it gets into your cars tank. But I digress. As for crashing ANY car, high horsepower or not, fwd, awd, or rwd, it's really all about the driver, their experience, and most importantly, their common sense. I have over 1.5 million miles CERTIFIED safe driving. And probably more than half of that in four wheelers in addition. I used to street race in my '72 Pro-Street Vega, waaaay back in the day. We didn't have all the goodies and electronic gizmos you younger guys and gals have available to you now. It was run what ya brung, and you'd better be on your best behavior with your best skills, both in engine building as well as driving. These days, you just plug in a mini computer, or go down to a local "tuner" and fork over your cash to get a faster car. Or worse, you just buy a fast car. Whatever happened to long nights in the garage??? I still have scars on my knuckles from my youth, under the hood, under the car, wrenching on whatever needed fixing or improving. I now understand what my parents meant, when they said "we didn't have it as good as you kids do today". Damn, I'm old!
