Why Do Some People Help Inmates to Escape? 

Imagine your mom going on the run with a killer and thinking it was a “good decision” leaving behind her kids.

It's one thing to fall in love with a prisoner but to let a fugitive out on the run because "he's a little cutie pie" is insane

This woman puts a perspective on it that no one else could understand. I appreciate her speaking out and giving the “thought process” that we will never get from Vicky.

My dads was a corrections officer. He was in the cafeteria when a female officer was killed by an inmate she was having an affair with. It happened in a storage room connected to the cafeteria. That’s the only thing I can think of when stories like this pop up. Not only is it inappropriate for the job, it’s also an extreme risk to your safety.

Reminds me of another tragic story I'll never forget. A mother died in prison while trying to do something illegal for her son, and was caught in a sting operation. (I don't remember exactly what she did, but the fact that she died in prison in her old age, for her son's fault ).

It’s so strange to me how when she’s asked how she could fall in love with a killer, she responds with, “I saw beyond that.” You’re not seeing beyond the fact that they’re a murderer, you’re ignoring it.

In the white case, they both had something they could give each other. Vicki wanted affection attention and love. Casey wantes to be a free man. Together they figured out they could give each other these things. Vicki was so desperste for affection and casey was so desperate for freedom they used each ither for those very things

I'm so sickened by that correction officer. She's a disgrace for helping that murderer escape

When my mom went to work at the prison.. the class she took before working, the guy said “if you don’t get anything else out of this class please remember this, when an inmate opens their mouth they’re lyin”

Heard no remorse for what she did to her family. She would 100% still be with this guy if they didn't get caught. I hope she apologized to her husband and kids that she threw away for this loser.

This woman put herself and a convicted killer ahead of her two children. There is no excuse for that whatsoever.

I dated a correctional officer as this situation happens more than you think. She also knew her life as she knew it was over. It was explained to me that the inmates will look for a woman like her as they can read a person better then most people. What ever was lacking in her life is truly sad.

This lady their interviewing doesn’t seem like the best person to take advice from, she abounded her husband and children to run away with a murderer …

This lady only got 2 years for helping a convict escape... What!? Yet personal use weed used to be able to get you up to (depending on where you're from) 6 years.

She was a grown woman who put a convicted murderer on the street which put people in serious danger. Zero sympathy

Obviously what she did was wrong on so many levels.However, just imagine the sameness and sheer dullness of her life and job. I can understand her need for something to make her feel alive. I imagine the rush she got whilst driving off with him was a crazy kind of high. To be fair people make choices everyday out of boredom or as a thrill seeker. She just chose poorly and paid for it with her life.

She is there everyday for years and years 9-5 She’s a prisoner too! A prisoner to a correctional officer is essentially a coworker after awhile! Even a friend! Always together day after day! Maybe the attention he gave her made her stagnant life a little better! 🤷🏽‍♂️ Maybe the fear of retiring and being alone freaked her out! I’m no doctor but I know loneliness I know love 🙏

So basically what she's saying is that women who society would call "homely" have such low self-esteem that they can be easily manipulated in to doing anything if they're given enough attention 🤔? Damn.

That's so weird, that she stays in touch with the inmate and that her current husband has even met him. Quite bizarre.

Low self esteem and despair allows one to be easily manipulated, even when they know what they're doing is foolish.

What I don't think some people commenting understand is what Ms. White was feeling. I wouldn't ever do that, but the guard was probably depressed and lonely and Mr. White picked up on that and took advantage. Whether he actually loved her, I don't know(though he begged the police to help her after the accident and she shot herself,) but I've been severely depressed before. All manner of things can sound like a good idea when you're feeling so low and a person gives you a spark of new feeling. Unfortunately for them both, he happened to be in prison for 75 years for murder......but she probably thought only she knew the real him and may have felt he saved her. I'm just sad that she felt ending her life was preferable. I've been in that spot, but luckily for me, I have insurance good enough to be able to go in-patient, and family and friends to help after I finally let them in. She felt she didn't have that for one reason or another. I'm sad she killed herself.

So our expert. Cheated on her husband. Broke out a criminal. Abandoned her family. Served time. What does the husband do? Take her back and goes and visits the guy with his wife. Have some self respect of lord how far we have fallen.

Not that big of a secret. A lonely woman looking for somthing got taken advantage of by a person who knew what he was doing. Happens everyday

Wow she helped a prisoner escape and got 27 months.. Vicky allegedly killed herself before getting caught with the man she helped escape and she could’ve had an opportunity to fix the mess she created. They wouldn’t have given her a life sentence but she gave herself one

I fell in love with a Jail guard when I was in Pittsburghs Allegheny County jail. He would bring me things from the outside, he would bring me pain pills. All types of stuff. Then after I got out he continued our "relationship" but then found out he was doing thatcwith 53 other inmates.......I ended up testifying against him in court In the end. So yes it happens

Wow that’s pretty wild! That’s awesome that she was able to remarry but a little strange that she still visits him and is allowed to.

Some women just love toxic dangerous bad boys and it never ends well.

Everybody makes mistakes, some more serious than others, but as long as there is repentance and not a repeat offender, I understand why forgiveness with atonement can change it all for good, and become the higher road. Everyone must learn that their choices have consequences.

This reminds me of the relationship between Michael Scofield and prison doctor Sara Tancredi from the series Prison Break. Yes this does happen.

Chics like prisoners plain and simple, I see it all the time in my state where a model looking 10/10 girl will throw her life away for some prisoner cuz he knows how to eat booty which he learned in jail.

I remember when I got out of prison the first girl I met fell in love. I gave her the ride of her life. What I'm trying to say is...

Smh 🤦‍♂️ That just shows the low level of common sense and the high level of stupidity these Women had. Keep the “bad boy” crush drama for the high schools, and keep it out of the prisons.

All corrections officers should not be allowed to have conversations will inmates for any reason. And should always be paired in two's if they need to accompany them for anything.

Glad she spoke the truth... now let's use that info to fire any officer flirting too much with an inmate before the officer gets any ideas to help the inmate escape.

It happened I believe in 2015 in upstate new York. A woman corrections officer smuggled tools into a new York prison and let 2 convicted murders escape. It was a " love triangle"

Great decision making skills all around.

They were found only 5 miles away from my house. The detective who found them at the hotel was my youth pastor at church. I drove by the road on my way home where they were caught.

Depression and age....

Most correctional officers do the exact opposite. They abuse, mistreat, assault, and even kill prisoners. Their supervisors and administrators will almost always help cover it up.

I'm amazed that she was able to find another man that was willing to marry her after she deceived and portrayed her first husband and her children. I saw on Dateline, where they did a segment on her, that neither of her sons would speak to her any longer. Maybe the new husband saw a 'damsel in distress' and wanted to take care of her. I doubt she had any money or a job when they met.

Its more like why do women always fall for the bad boys? Ever since the Bonnie and Clyde thing women have been doing It for a long time. Always falling for the bad boy and leave the nice guys to the curb. The most notable woman It's a fictional character Harley Quinn who fell In love with the Joker. She had a prominent career as a psychiatrist until she met up with the Joker and corrupted her mind.

Why not?

Maybe the inhumane conditions of prison cause some people to help certain inmates escape. Conditions that need to change. Edit: Well that doesn't seem to be the case with these people. Doesn't seem like the prisoners were helped because of the conditions. They were helped because people helping them were in love with them
