I cry when I'm angry or frustrated... Way more than I do when I'm sad or happy. I always assumed it was a response to being overwhelmed with emotions. I also cry when I laugh a lot and have a hard time breathing. I cry a lot.
We were supposed to lick our own tears as natural painkillers all along, we just forgot with time. You can also lick other crying people's tears if both of youare crying.
zigzag duck lmao I really hope not, if I ever get a joke proven as fact I really wish it isn't this one. I'm not looking forward to science-approved eyeball licking.
They did say there are 3 types of tears. It's probably one of those. -I think it could be a connected reflex response to the irritants of drowsiness. Like how yawning is a reflex of low oxygen levels in the brain. But it could also be your eyes lubricating themselves in preparation for sleeping.
Me, it's when I laugh. Every fkin time I laugh, I start to have tears in my eyes. So I never really laugh because of that, I don't want to look strange...
It's very fitting how this popped up in my feed when I've been crying for the past hour. My mother in law is losing her long battle with cancer and today we decided its time to accept hospice.
4:03 "or when you're happy to see someone, because you missed them so much!" That was amazing, and really touching. Tells me something about the people at this channel too! I really liked that part as well.
Just imagine you walk into a room with a baby and it say “parental units! I am set upon by an overwhelming urge to expel extraneous gas from mine stomach.”
We laugh, but imagine you really needed to belch or fart but didn't know how to control that. Heck, I sometimes STILL chug too much soda or eat too much chili and spend a few minutes with that awful, distended feeling, trying to get the gas out. It hurts!
I lost my grandpa a month ago. Now I cry at like everything. Like a song I used to play when he was alive. When i hear it I cry. People don’t understand how sad I really am
"We are the only animals that cry." But I've seen dogs and cows cry when they witness something heartbreaking. Edit: I don't think any of us humans can understand how a non-human being is actually feeling.... And I think only members of that particular species that the creature belongs to can understand that. So we can't for sure say that we are the only animals that can cry. But I love how the comments have taught and will teach me some new stuff and I thank you all😇.
It's Okay To Be Smart I never saw the Movie "UP". i *VERY RARELY* cry. I don't know why. I can't remember the last time I cried when I felt sad. *THE ONLY* time now I shed tears is when I'm tired or when I get dust in my eyes. 🤔 😞 😪 🚼 ⚠️
When Joe says you cry “When your happy to see someone because you miss them so much” and it showed a clip of Carl Sagan, I actually teared up a bit. You were one of the best Carl, the world will never be the same without you!
Thank you. Recently have read a book on emotions "How emotions are built : the Secret life of a brain ". Not about tears specifically, but definitely worth to check it out. Fresh look on emotions, that contradicts traditional approach to emotions. For instance, it says that hypothalamus is not responsible for emotional reaction, there is no single area of the brain that is responsible for emotions creation.
Today i was so bored that i saw an ant and i put sugar cubes in front of it. It ate some cubes, then it went to call its friends. So i cleaned all the leftover cubes so that the ant looked like a lier in front of his friends.
The beginning of up is amazing storytelling in my opinion. I really like montages and how they can tell a story with no words and in a compressed amount of time.
I think it's the overwhelmingness of the emotion. If I get extremely angry (like once every few years - angry) I also get tears in my eyes. I hate it, because people think I'm sad when I'm not.
Oh my gosh I love this episode! So we're basically evolved to tell others how helpless we are so we can stay connected. Also I didn't expect that footage of Carl Sagan, that was perfect.
@Syed Rehan Ali Khan I've seen a dark line in bulls and cows under their eyes, it's due to tear flow. The reason maybe a response to the pain they get through or ageing.
I've begun to be way more sensitive in my last two years than all my life, now almost every thing that I find tender bring tears to my eyes, but I don't generally let them multiply
It takes time and feeling very safe to cry when you feel the urge but are out of practice, especially the "ugly crying" that really releases tension. Looking at photos/movies/letters that remind us of what we are upset about can be a good way to push past that feeling of being "choked up" but unable to let loose.
I don’t know if I’m just very empathetic, but when he started talking about it being the most human thing we do, I felt like I wanted to cry at that. Huh.
i seem to have lost the ability to cry, which is what brought me here. i only cry now when extremely frightened or i feel guilty/like i don't deserve something good that's happening
I think you cry tears of joy because its your body's way of relieving yourself of strong emotions. Which goes with the evolutionary theory of cry from strong emotions. And it also makes sense for crying when youre laughing so hard
Top reasons why i cry: 1- something in my eye 2- something in each of my eyes 3- many things in both eyes 4- thought something was in my eye 5- angry 6- sad
I thought that the chimp raised in California by a scientist that was taught some sign language, actually cried tears when she was told that her chimp buddy was dead. I don't remember anything more about this but it was probably 40 years ago that it was reported. It was extremely interesting to learn that emotional tears release other things like stress and pain reducers, also. Great video.
that "UP" movie reference tho... no matter how many times i watch it... it always put a dust in my eye.. im not cryin or anything the room just becomes too dusty and it gets to my eye...
'Hyper Nova', they do have toothbrushes. They're called birds. Also, 'Exaflare Bahamut', they have 'crocodile tears' which is a fitting metaphor for fake crying since crocodiles only cry to get rid of excess salt while not necessarily being sad while doing it.
Your body also packs stress hormones into your emotional tears, physically purging excess stress from your system. That really seems like a better reason for the crying adaptation, to be honest.
I remember hearing somewhere that when overwhelmed with emotion, humans expell the excess chemicals that create that emotion through tears. Is this true or just a myth?
I've read that the common Feeling that triggerrs Crying is Helfplessness. It unites that a Baby cries because it is Hungry... It is helpless. If you are sad because somebody leaves you... You are helpless, you can do nothing about it that you are abandoned. If you are so happy because you are receiving so much Love... You are helpless, because you cant nothing about it that you are receiving it. If somebody dies you are crying because you can't do nothing to change it. Crying is a Reaction to Things we can not control.
I’ve seen with my own eyes a female camel shed emotional cry for her son isolated away for treatment. And seen documentary about elephants funeral with lots of emotional tears. All animal kingdom formed of many families. Connected with emotions and blood. Please people have mercy on other creatures 💕
in case of tears of joy, the cause is the fact that "I don't need to feel sadness anymore" the sadness about the sadness of past. - I want to go to the Disney - but I can't. I'm sad. I can't do as I wish. - I couldn't go to the Disney for 10 years. (and more 10 years later) - I'll go to the Disney today. I've been waiting so long. I'm so happy. these process makes us dropping the tears of joy.
I always got sh*t for crying... man up was the general response for me crying. Turns out my mirror neurons work more than most people... so I feel others pain more... I also learn more from others mistakes. Point being, if you find someone crying be helpful... if you need to cry, let loose and the people that give you sh*t are people that *need* to be removed from your life.
I had a kitten and we locked her for 15 min in a big room as all of us went to obligatory pray(jum 'a prayer). When we cam back she was hiding in cupboard crying real tears and latched on to me when I opened the cupboard. After that I never locked her up.
What brings me to tears is the amount of cheese you pack into your videos... It’s so sad, coz that time could be spent giving actual interesting information - for example, answering questions like, “Why Do Humans Cry?”
