I can imagine. I always try to make the patient feel as safe as I can. I know that is difficult but I want my patient to know that we will all do our very best and they are very important to us.

That is a misconception of intubation. Please remember that the patient is already in a critical condition. Since patient becomes unconscious and unable to breath voluntarily, intubation will be applied in order to help them breath and provide them with the needed oxygen. Going back to the point that the patient is already critically ill, it can lead further deterioration even without intubation.
