CN Day 1 player: Story: one of the best game i've played so far, really curious about everything on Terra so i want discover more about it and the future of Rhodes Island. Characters: I like collect all characters xd, but mainly WAIFUS. Consistency: Well, daily logins to get currency to pull, it doesn't take much time so is fine (without events is like 10m)

Quality and passion of developers is what keeps me playing it. HG working with many artists, musicians, voice actors, doing good job on making interesting and challenging content, so it never feels boring. It's close to League of Legends (which I'm also playing for 10+ years lol) in terms of quality.

1. Incredibly deep core gameplay experience with countless play styles and strategies 2. Expansive world full of rich lore 3. Extremely cool art direction with tons of variety 4. Top notch sound design and OST 5. Diverse cast of lovable characters I could go on but I'd be here all night. The saddest thing about Arknights is that it is a gacha and will inevitably end one day. Easily my favorite game, haven't missed a day since global launch.

4 years into Arknights. Second longest gacha was Genshin which I played for 2.5 years. Arknights has real endgame content. You can have a full box of a level 90's but Integrated Strategies and Contingency Contract and Reclamation Algorithm and other game modes will remain meaningful challenges. Even after 4 years, I am still excited to get free stuff in the mail like sanity or materials, because that means more operators to build and more strategies to toy around with.

Same here. I'm mostly a collector guy who is satisfied with one copy of an operator then stop. But I went extra length to get both Texas Alter and Yato Alter to P6 just to have a slight edge in IS3. Even so, I still get wrecked most of the times playing SW15. The mode is challenging and hard af (also RNG-fest) but it feels so satisfied when you use the operators you have spent so much times to raise to actually prevail in a highly adverse environment. Make you feel like doctor yourself.

Started playing arknights casually, then some bad things happened and I ended up in a psych ward. I was only allowed to bring my ipad because my laptop was too big and the charging cable could be used by me or other patients to hurt ourselves. Arknights kept me sane during that time and I started watching youtubers like you, kuki, and yii. After I got discharged from the hospital, playing it became a daily routine and now, i don't think i'd ever stop playing it

I've played Arknights every day since the day it launched on global. If I had to say what keeps me playing, I don't think it would be any one singular thing. Rather, it's some combination of the gameplay/gamemodes, music, deterministic account progression, art/aesthetic, plot/story, characters, worldbuilding, relatively fair gacha rates, and the fairly high rate new content gets added. Pretty much an Arknights nerd. Once Endfield comes, I'll definitely be playing both.

I play because the artwork is unique (not showing too much, thus producing top tier waifu) and also I like collecting the operators and trying to max them out. Also the game is pretty generous, and the world is captivating. The gameplay is challenging but not impossible, and every operator, even from day 1, is still useful, with maybe 2 operators being completely outclassed after 4 years. EDIT: THE MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND IS WHAT BROUGHT ME TO THE GAME!

It was interesting to listen to this on stream. A lot of people have different reasons for why they still play, and the devotion some people have to this game is pretty nuts. I'm relatively new to the game still, being only nearly a year into it, but it's nice to see what keeps the older players going, and it makes me feel more optimistic about the future of this game despite all the recent content creators leaving the space as of late.

Week 1 Player here, and I'll just say that there's a lot of non-stndard things that this game does which made me stay upto this day, not missing a login unless I'm completely locked-out of internet connection from out of town trips. 1. The Lore. No brainer. It might be a lot for other people definitely, specially if they came from a game like FGO where you'll get non-canon slapstick story seasonal events on a monthly basis then you jump into AK and all of the sudden, every other event releases is a canon story that happens at a different point in time from the Main Story. 2. VA options is insane, where most gacha games stop at KR, JP, CN, & EN, they went out of their way to add GE, IT, RU on some operators for the sake of immersion. The EN VA as well, if you put side by side with the others, sounds completely different as it doesn't try to be Anime-ish at all, a niche that Reverse 1999 capitalizes on since it's their default VA option. 3. Despite the restrictive genre that is Tower Defense, they've somehow managed to innovate upon it, producing permanent game modes that allows the user to play around with their units without having to spend any in-game stamina. A gripe that I have with a certain game is once you reach the Endgame, all of my units are reduced to fcking figurines in a glass case since there's no actual Endgame content at all. You can't repeat memorable bosses vs in Arknights, you can always try out newer Units with Patriot/Talulah/any other Event bosses since we have the option to revisit the side story maps anytime we want to. 4. Music. No explanations needed. There's a lot to still get excited for this game, specially with Endfield coming, and I'm here to witness it. 2000+ days on FGO as well, and what the first guy said about Endgame modes being way better is an understatement. Mainly because FGO, for the entire 7 years of its painful existence, has never created any Permanent Game modes whatsoever. What he means by Horrendous btw, is the fact that you have to manually play everything, even the farming. And the farming, as sad as it sounds, has been the meta, rating any new units by their capability of looping/np charge in order to trivialize grinding into mere 3 turns.

1 year in and i was basically bound to arknights thanks to the rhine labs events (dorothys vision and lonetrail). the worldbuilding, writing and characters of those two events are enough to make this one of my favourite games for sure. not to mention some of the best soundtracks and character designs in the industry. and to top it all off, its one of the few gacha games frequently releasing attractive male characters/skins too. im still haunted by genshins inability to create an interesting male character

Since then i played it till this day and login every single day, it like my routine but i don't feel any bored, i can do it everywhere and any time with my phone. I love A9 and community.

Arknights is the only game that doesn't need too much farm. You just need to farm for materials and all materials has the same purpose to either upgrade your operator skills or operator level (Elite Promotion). That's why im still playing Arknights for almost 4 years now because i don't need a lot of grinding just to make my unit stronger.

Played maybe 6 months, already had 2 months break but I keep coming back to it because there is no better turn base / puzzle / strategy on mobile. I really like the community around it and seeing people coming up with their own handicaps to tackle the constantly increasing power creep. I like the changing mechanics and events, different game modes especially roguelike elements that justifies leveling lower rarity operators. I like the variety of different characters.I I like challenge, and the game is a good brain teaser.

For me, Arknights has a very good endgame. I'd even argue that Arknights shines most at its endgame. And I'm not just talking about the gameplay when I say endgame. I also mean the story, which is most of the reason why I still play AK.

Been playing since July 1st 2020 Honestly it's a very fun game that still somehow challenges you despite all the "broken" operators we get. Every event or chapter or game mode seems to have some twist to it that it never feels stale or overly repetitive. You gotta admit with the game being out for 4+ years now and they still roll out new enemy and operator mechanics it's pretty dang creative. It's also not very time consuming - I do appreciate it running in the background sometimes. Edit: endgame modes and content are also amazing to still hand you your butt even with the strongest operators. Honestly very satisfying to see when I change ops, skills, positioning (i.e., play the game as intended) and see myself continue to make progress in the difficult stage until I finally beat it. Sometimes I even just record my gameplay of it to commemorate the squad that beat the challenge (looking at you H12-4) Music? Godly Characters? Loveable, full of personality, most of the time amazing art as well Lore? Tbh I only read main story lore up to chapter 8, Darknight Memoir, and Grani's event... I 100% intend on eventually reading ALL the side stories' lore too though. Gacha? Thankfully I've been lucky and have almost all the ops up to this point. I always buy the monthly pass and only once did I cave and buy OP (for Lin). Honestly being on EN does give a huge advantage with planning ahead 6+ months from CN, I don't mind it too terribly much. Sometimes I wish it was more like just a 3 months gap but at the end of the day I get to plan my orundum spendings much better like this 100/10 Game and so happy I saw that RU-vid Ad with penguin logistics and Speed of Light music that got me intrigued to download it. If I had seen any of the other awful ads I saw memes about I would've never picked it up lol

If I had to get into the specifics of why I still play Arknights as a day 1 player, not only has the gameplay continued to innovative itself and still remain fun after all these years. However, the *biggest* reason I’m so heavily invested in this game, and will never leave, is because of the story/lore/world building/characterization. All of these important aspects is what makes for a really good story to be told. The fact that Arknights, (a mobile game) is able to rival (or has even already surpassed) the likes of the Destiny franchise (AAA game) when it comes to the aforementioned aspects, that’s how you know it’s really good IP. As long as Hypergryph continues to expand on the world of Arknights and its stories, I won’t be leaving any time soon. There’s also the fact that Arknights had banger music and the gacha (albeit not as great as modern gachas today) is relatively generous for the most part.

I'm a 1st month player (cause I don't remember the exact date). I played until I got stuck at one stage then I just went to farm some materials and not really play other stages until I found 777ucky. His runs are just impressive. For someone who lost motivation to play the game early on. His runs motivated me specially the 1 p relays, and most importantly his CC #2 run. From there on I wanted to build niche operators since Angelina (the first operator I really liked) is considered trash at the start of the game's lifespan. Now I bring Angelina for almost all of the stages I clear.

been playing since day 3 of EN release. i've taken a few months off here and there for lack of time or lack of space on my phone, but arknights really is free to play and fun to progress through. while missing out on limited operators is kinda of sad, its not impossible to play without them. its also fairly easy to save up for banners versus a game like genshin that i find it incredibly difficult to save up for the gacha without spending money

Bit late but's my story: been playing since 02/20, got into the game because I was burned out from another gacha (Fire Emblem Heroes) and as someone who was a strategy nut at the time, found the Tower Defense niche very interesting. I think the reason I still play is for a variety of reasons, whether it be the community, the music, the story, etc. they seem to improve as time goes on. I did take a break from the W banner and only returned once the R6 collab came to global and have been playing consistently since. I admit I am a meta player, and tend to brute force with only limited units, and despite my own brain making me underutilize my team, I still find enjoyment with this game

I've been playing since March 2020, and I took only 1 month break which I don't remember the cause (during Surtr & Blemi event). The gameplay and music is what keeps me playing, I enjoy puzzle games; AK being a Tower Defence forces me to think, play around with mechanics and can't brute force most things. While meta ruins the game slightly, it's also a good stress relief to clear events asap while you're busy. Arknights is almost the only game I play, amd because of it's lively community (maybe because I haven't reached out to other game communities), other people come out with so many new fresh ideas for challenges that the game could keep thriving without any new content itself. (not really) However, the future of AK is worrying, especially with CCPOO; I hope they take a step back and rebuild the mode correctly.

My account start date is 2020-01-26 and I played for a bit before quitting during Code of Brawl because I was too busy. Started playing again last year during Stultifera Navis and needless to say, I was completely overwhelmed with it along with the Under Tides rerun and CC#9 coming immediately after, but it was fun enough that I continued to play the game. Now 1 year later, it's funny watching my autos of SN stages because it's a night and day difference with using year 1 operators during the original run vs the meta slave that I am now.

Because Arknights is the only gacha I enjoy actively playing. Other gachas feature simplistic combat systems that just revolve around using the same boring rotation and play by themselves, while Arknights forces me to use my brains to clear the stages, and even introduces new unique mechanics in its events to keep things fresh. It's also the gacha with the least timewasting mechanics, most of the stuff can be done fast without requiring a ton of clicks (refreshing the base is the only offender here.)

In my case i think what got me into arknights was its trailer that i saw like a year before global release which instantly made me love the aestethic of the game. Once it released i must say the aestethic brought me, the gameplay caught me and then the lore and the world kept me playing and coming back again and again over the years to enjoy the game. I love the world and the lore so much so that i am working on a DnD module based on arknights as i am starting a campaign fully inspired by the game. Even thought its a gacha tower defense there is something that brings surprising depth to game which i feel is hard to find nowadays in a lot of games while also allowing you to play casually when needed. I hope Endfield will be just as good ✨

The main reason that made me begin arknight because its like a tower defense game, and i love it, and after that i just got into it as i liked the character. Besides that, imo, its quite easy to build characters in arknight compared to other gacha games i played before like azur lane and genshin. So my goal as of right now is just to max all my operators, that's what keeps me continuing to play the game

Been playing since January 2020 I maybe entered hiatus/not playing seriously quite a bit during/around original "Dossoles Holiday" run, but came back playing it seriously again around before "Contingency Contract 8" begin. The hiatus not because I'm bored with the game, but because I played *A LOT* of different gacha games (I played and tried, some of it is Genshin Impact, Kemono Friends 3, Blue Archive, and FGO. I think i played more back then, but this is what in top of my head), so it kind of make me burned out on every games I played. Now, I only focused on FGO and AK, but AK remained as one of my main and favorite long running gacha games (from what I feel) of all time. I love the story, I love the music, challenges that provided (SSS, IS, CC original or new in CN, Reclamation Algorithm, Trials for Navigator, etc), the gimmick and flavor text of the stages, I love the skin, I love the design (on anything, including the stage design and the medal) Adding that I also loved playing Kingdom Rush/Plant vs Zombie/strategy tower defense game when I'm still around 10 - 13 years old just makes it more better for me.

Been playing since month 3 of release and still play daily! I really enjoy the character designs, their personalities, and the music, but the story and event stories hooked me for good! Like many are saying, I really like the fact that you can play this game at whatever pace you like, and play with your own style. There’s not a mega grind like there is with Gensh1n 1mpact which makes it easier to avoid burnout. In my (personal) experience as well, most fellow Arknights players are really kind and happy to help each other with ideas if you get stuck on a stage whereas I’ve had not pleasant experiences with other games in that regard. All in all, I’ve had a really good time playing Arknights and really enjoying the content the community puts out! Thank you for sharing Vifer! As a 3 year player, I can list some things: 1. The Story and the world of Terra Arknights has a such a lore rich world with all the mysteries and stuff. Lone Trail was one of them of how it revealed the background of Terra before the events of the game. 2. Great characters Arknights has a diverse set of characters that they are good in their own unique way. 3. The music Nuff said, it is one of the core souls of this game. The music they all produce in-game or leitmotifs are always so good I probably won't stop playing even when it reaches the 10 year anniversary. I'm just that addicted.

It's still a great game with tons of lore, isn't braindead and forces problem solving with how to build units as virtually every unit is viable in certain stages, so infinite ways to complete them. Arknights still isn't even dying even after Path to Nowhere got released. The competition actually forces the devs to step it up Also, it's a waifu/husbando collector game. It's that as well

started playing around start of 2021. I'm not even into gacha games, I just saw gameplay and it looked really fun. Somehow it just stuck and the gameplay still feels fresh even to this day. It's not like I play every day or even every single week. I just play whenever I feel like it. Story is also really damn cool for some mobile game.

I just started early 2023(which I have to since my sibling is playing her first ever gacha game, and I need watch over her) so I haven't found its flaws yet. Its nice that the game allows niche playstyle unlike other gacha games I wont be naming where you wont even make dent on your opponents if you don't do meta.

I started playing 4 years ago, but I was really stupid as a 7th grader and like immediately quit when I got stuck on chapter 2. I came back about a year later during covid and started a new account, only getting to level 2-10 before quitting again. And before I didnt even have 6 stars, at least I did now but I still got stuck on ch 2 because I just didnt know how to play. I just came back about a month ago with a brand new acc bc I was getting kind of bored of HSR and honestly my eyes have opened to this game. The story is surprisingly very well written for a gacha game, and the gameplay is so unique. I love the idea of the base(now that i know what it actually does), I love the story and the theme of it, and I love the unique tower defense strategy gameplay. Its extremely frustrating to get stuck on levels sometimes but when I beat it after spending an hour figuring it out I feel so amazing. And ofc, I love gambling

1. Character design, art, skins. AK is just completely what I like aesthetically. 2. Music and VAs. 3. Gameplay (I do get burned out but then I end up always returning after a period of doing nothing but logging in). Been playing since launch. 4. Low maintenance game. I keep up fairly well in between full-time work and touching a lot of grass. I love that I don't have to stress about a deadline for modes like IS that they made permanent. 5. Content creators. My interest may not have held up at the start of the game's life if it weren't for CCs like ucky, Kyo etc. I was 100% Skill Issue. But the clear videos I watched were so fun and creative and also downright educational. Taught me how to be a better player beyond Just Schwing It Away (Surtr didn't exist in early days and SA was king lol).

i browse a lot of fan art of various fandoms in pixiv and twitter, and that's *technically* how i first encountered Arknights; i didn't acknowledge it at the time though. I like the art but sometimes it can be an artist's artstyle that brings it up more than it actually is (i dont know if that made any sense.) . And then mid-2020 i saw a friend online playing it, and that's when i first truly learned about Arknights; however i didn't start actually playing until much later, as i didn't have a decent phone enough to run it back then. I started the game around W and Weedy's banner, and i think i spent most of the resources just to get W lmao. It was my first gacha-style game. I really like the artstyle. The story was intriguing. Now that i have played more gacha games since then, i can list the stuff that i truly appreciate within the game: 1.) the amount of detail they put in even just the chibis; they didn't have to do it, but it adds a lot of personality outside of their E2 art. 2.) There is no weapon system. There's modules, but we dont have to *gacha* for it. We simply farm and grind for it. Even then, they're not necessary to clear content. 3.) There's also no equipment system. Stats are all from level up, and there's no RNG to roll for good stats. There's other games that do it, but a lot of the big popular names nowadays have RNG implemented into the equipment. With Arknights, you just have to simply level up and Promote. 4. ) Weekly guaranteed income of gacha currency that isn't variable. Sure some of us may wish they give more than 3 rolls, but the fact that we dont have to place a certain ranking in some sort of player score leaderboard means Annihilations are also a lot more casual. 5.) The fact that no matter where you are in the spender spectrum of labels, Arknights is still a skill-based game. You see people with many 6-stars struggling with max risk, and then you see players using 3-stars to clear Risk 18 and sometimes even the Challenge Risks. Spending gives you more powerful operators and lets you max them out faster, but it doesn't *completely* eliminate the skill factor, especially in high-end stages where mechanic knowledge is key and brute force isn't always the answer. . i am excited for the future of Hypergryph. Though i look forward to more Arknights content than Endfield content, i also do hope that Endfield succeeds and maybe even would help bring even more players into the base arknights game. I also am looking forward to Ex Astris and would want to eventually play Popucom with some friends too.

Just over 7 months and I’m still playing coz it honestly one of the most fun app game I’ve played no game has this level of…well gameplay with characters and squad and just the 100000 ways you can beat a stage plus the biggest thing is that levelling and maxing out units take forever, it might take me a month straight to get a 6 star to E2 a unit so there is a sense of accomplishment once your there, I have two account with all different 6 stars and units I can’t get enough of this game

August 4 2020 player...my reason for keeping up on this game is because I have all the units and it's become a thing that I must have them all. If it was hard to get all the units, (like the gatcha was unforgiving) I probably would have stopped collecting/playing all together. Another reason I don't suffer burn out is how simple and quick it is do the daily game play. If there is no event, the simple game play does not require so much time that I can even auto fight a level at work. Game is way too accommodating for my lifestyle vs something like state of survival where I came from. S.O.S just required way too much money to be strong and way too much time to not get wrecked, specially when you went to sleep. Arknights as it is will be the only game I want to play till they stop updating it.

How did I start the game? A FGO youtuber indirectly introduced me through the choice of song he used for some of his clears lol. Decided to search the song he used and later tried the game. I like it. Then I heard SN boss battle theme in twitter and I got completely hooked. Sure there were times of burnt out, but it didn't make me want to quit. Why did I keep playing? Music, gameplay contents, and operators, basically. I play with whatever I have, try to get the characters I want, and I appreciate Arknights' gameplay design that gives variety of things to use and explore in order to solve the stage (even though it has it's fair share of BS at times).

The fact that the first two guys started on the same day as I did is wild. Though for me I started because I saw my cousin give the game a try. So I figured I should give it a try. It was rare for me to try new games on mobile but on Console I'd pretty much give any game a try(granted it was someone else's console). Arknights pretty much gave me motivation to quit a different game(forgot what it was called at this point but I played it for 5 years before quitting). Here I am now playing on 2 EN accounts and 1 CN account. Honestly I can't wait to play Endfield. I'll probably play on Global servers but if only CN comes out for a few months I may just play on there.

I've been playing Arknights for a year and a half by now, and I keep playing for... So many reasons. The stories are great, although the main theme isn't particularly amazing as far as I've read; I just finished Partial Necrosis today, and that chapter in particular is probably C or B Tier. The side stories are usually amazing though, like Under Tides, Guide Ahead, Lingering Echoes, etc. The characters are very very fun, and have beautiful artwork. The gameplay is super fun most of the time; though some stages and event gimmicks can be stupidly annoying, I know that most of the time they'll put in some new stuff that IS fun. The chibi art style in the actual gameplay is both cute and effective and portraying what it needs to, and the game itself isn't super grindy, it's all stuff I can do on the side for like 20 minutes a day. The music is incredible and so so varied, I could honestly survive off of only Arknights EPs. And most importantly, it actually feels possible to save and get all the operators in this game, which is ESPECIALLY good for the limited operators. Basically, Arknights is extremely awesome. I don't think I'll be getting into Endfield, personally, but I'm most likely going to stick with Arknights until the day it dies.

The worldbuilding and lore are really compelling, even if the cutscenes are basically novellas delivered 2 lines at a time. Art, characters, and music are sooo good! Also hot take but the gacha isn’t as ruthlessly brutal as say, certain ‘hoyo gachas.. maybe copium but I think it’s relatively fair for monthly card/f2p

I'm month 3 player and I remembered that I quit Arknights because I couldn't get Saria on her first banner (Instead I got 3 Siege...) so I stop playing AK for like a year? maybe? After that I was getting into Genshin stuff. As years had pass, I started to have less time on playing and keep up with the GI content, genuinely interest in main story quest more than events. For AK, I mostly saw upcoming events/banners from CN announcement and then when I saw LING I know I need to come back for sure. I keep log in regulary until my consistency drop around 3rd anniversary because I am now, have jobs to do. Again I saw Mlynar, Texas alt and upcoming MH collab event, I come to realized that I couldn't left this game thou.( imma MH fan too btw, I want that cat and go hunt Rathalos) Tbh, I never really read the stories cuz I have no time but rn I love to listen to lore summaries, the more i digged into it, the more I love this game and my OPs and not to mention AK's music is an absolute banger. I am now enjoy coming back to be the Dokutah and AK has match my play style pace. (note aside - I play various types of games, Simulation/Indie/RPG/FPS/Battle royale/Turn-Based/Hack and Slash etc.)

You can definitely feel the effort put by the devs into this game, delivering some of the best stories ive ever read (if you can endure the reading part), and i always like the difficulty of arknights, where you have to use your brain to pass the stage, but not unfair to the point that you're forced to use only 6 star ops (although cn players said that the new cc requirements for trimmed medal requires a full 6 star team). Although it is noticeable that arknights is currently on the downward slope and i hope the devs would turn things around and make arknights great again and avoid the effects of modern gaming. Also, even though they implement really good qol updates, they really need to speed things up in regards with qol, they implement it too slow, like the skip ticket for annihilation was introduced 1-2 years maybe after the game was released. Started after the grani event, and still going strong to this day.

Arknights has a lot of stories and many questions to be answered.

Initially, I saw Arknights ads on almost every RU-vid video I was clicking on. They were annoying, some more than others, then I saw one of the Code of Brawl ads. Exusiai caught my eye, but I still didn't install Arknights for about 1 year because I thought that I'll get bored of it because of the gameplay. Characters, story, and all that just aren't enough to keep me invested in a game. I need interesting gameplay. Then, I installed it after deciding that I wanted Exusiai. I got Hoshiguma instead of her, played for a little while, then got bored. I didn't touch Arknights again for a year, then came back on another account where I did get Exusiai, and now, I'm approaching my first year in Arknights. What kept me in Arknights was the potential for meticulously planned strategies. It didn't feel mindless to play, it felt like everything was depending on me to make things work.

I got into arknights because of somebody I met from a discord server, that said somebody helped me throughout my beginner journey and I owe it all to that person. It'd be a waste if I just drop the game, I just simply reminded myself why I started in the first place. Arknights is really one of the tower defense gacha games out there in the market that really satisfied my craving for such a genre, arguably the only decent one out there even. This is the only game that kept me on my feet, makes me think and plan things out.

I started playing Arknights, because i was a bit curious about it. I wanted to find AT LEAST an interesting game on mobile to amuse myself (because you know, there are mobile games that are trash, not gonna lie...). When i was playing Arknights, i was actually happy to discover a new type of game, which is tower defenses, a game i NEVER tried before. At first i was confused, but i was at least determined to figure out by myself. I was also curious about the lore, the characters and more. I started doing the story, farming and more discovery with the guides etc. I got my first Elite 2 which is E2 Amiya. Really i didn't stop playing the game and continued, got Ch'en in recruitments, was happy about it, put her in Elite 1 like i did to other Operators. Lone Trail event, got Silence Alter, nice, and got Skadi The Corrupting Heart (Skalter) in the banner, which was unexpected, since i wanted between NTR Knight, W, Ho'olheyak and Specter the Unchained (Spalter?). Now, i got stuck in 6-5. Due to this i gave up, let my laziness take me away and do other things in game, like doing daily missions, waiting to get more Orundum in annihilation, things like that. I wanted Guard Amiya, well i guess i have to wait forever...

I think there is a lot of sticking points for me The game being fairly casual (not really time consuming on day-to-day basis), yet can be really challenging in terms of gameplay. And in a good way. Like the guy said, it is not just a numbers game. There is a room (a big ass room) for a strategy. But even though gameplay is rock solid, I like the characters and worldbuilding the most. I generally appreciate mindful worldbuilding in other franchises, big or small. And Arknights managed to create so deep, fantasy-yet-high-realistic living world, so of course I'm really attached to it. (But it is so sad that it requires so much investment to properly appreciate it, aside of art or music for example). And, the characters. People may say that Amiya is a typical anime protagonist with hero complex or something like that, but I, after all I have seen and experience, will say - I have never seen anyone like her. Yet the vibes and ideas she expresses feels almost personal to me. And Amiya is "just" one of the many great characters out there. Then let's add a couple cherries on top, which is majestic art, banger music (with some of my favorite ever compositions), devs that are passionate about their game and community with talented creators of all kinds, hilarious memers and just nice guys and gals. Of course, non of those is perfect, but all combined it makes me be where I am right now, including writing this comment.

This game has to be the most cozy game I've ever played. I open up my operator tab and I feel pretty happy seeing how far my account has gone. I get an occasional challenge and have to throw different operators for the monthly event and it's nice. If I can't ever beat something I just use a guide because sometimes I can't be asked with work the next day. Compared to fgo. I open my servant list and feel stressed like a fk I need so many mats for this servant. On arknights I'm just happy I have more operators to build. This game has a lot of different way for me to use my operators. The non linear nature of the game is probably what keeps me coming back to it. Coming from fgo that game is very straight forward. You meta fk np spam every farming node manually forever. So I enjoy arknights from a gameplay and user experience a lot more

I do not even play Arknights (my brother does). But I would like to say my piece. I first became aware of this game some time at the first year of AK's global lifetime. I did not think much of it at the time until I had first listened to its music - just the main music alone was enough to hook me, not to mention the main story battle music such as Mephisto's boss battle music onwards. I am not going to list my favourites though, otherwise we will be here all day. Of course, I would then look up the game itself, and that was when the second and third hooks caught me - the characters and worldbuilding. The characters are wholly original and unique rather than being based on historical/mythical figures or even inanimate ships like Azur Lane. Speaking of the latter, while the sex appeal and eye candy is there, it is comparably more toned down if at all present at times, meaning that I was less distracted by their looks and paid more attention to who these characters are as people instead of what they look like. It was there that I first realised that these mobile gacha games have far more depth than being mere 'gambling simulators' (I will explain later), as they have fairly well-developed stories both in their profiles and the story events. Even the NPCs are no slouches on that front, from bosses like Patriot and the Emperor's Blades, to non-combatants such at Laterano's pope (I forgot his name). Finally, there is the world of Terra, which second to the music is why I am excited for these upcoming events even if only announced at CN. I cannot properly explain why I grown to love the setting so much, but the best I can compare it to is with Warhammer Fantasy Battle for very similar reasons. Both feature settings and history which parallel our world, but with a strong fantasy spin while still remaining consistent with the world's themes and lore. Even with the introduction of the Seaborn, Feranmut and [REDACTED], it does so in a way which is still understandable and in pace with the larger world. But even without these extreme aspects, there are those more grounded stories which point out that at the end of the day, they are just ordinary people trying to make the most in a hostile world. In fact, the discovery of the world's lore is so facinating to me that I had been actively avoiding Lone Trail spoilers up until global release, despite relistening to Kirsten's boss theme many times, so that I can be as hyped about it as my brother was. Though I did get too greedy for IS3 and IS4 lore considering what they cover, but still keep hush about it until global. What amazes me the the most about AK is that it got me to be interested in these mobile gacha games despite of the gacha part. I still remember the bad days when western AAA game publishers tried to push lootboxes as a mainstream form of monetisation, and I grown to resent such a system since. While I still have no respect for it to this day, AK has shown that these games can be more than these features. That they do more than just flash a new character and scream "BUY LOOTBOX FOR £15 EACH FOR A 10% CHANCE TO GET THIS OP GIRL!!!", but go the extra mile and show why we should care about them and the world they live in (which one must daresay is much more insidious). And of course, they put that money to good use such as make great music. As for my favourite events, some of these include Operation: Originium Dust (how can an iesekai crossover collaboration have better story and worldbuilding than certain overpriced AAA games still baffles me) and A Light Spark in Darkness (no big stakes or over-the-top science-fantasy stuff here, just a story about a bunch of ordinary civilians struggling against a crisis). As for characters, I do not have a speific favourite. But I am currently interested in Mizuki due to IS3's lore and story.

Day 1 player. I had great faith that Arknights will turn out to be a fun game because of Yostar's involvement, and I was playing Azur Lane previously. Compared to a lot of the other gacha games that I've played, it turned out to be true. Far from perfect, as the game could improve things like the limited banner pity system (I got really messed up by a few banners), but the gameplay side of things is almost perfect. The game is easy to learn and get into, with a high skill ceiling, where players can decide how much and if they want to improve past the casual story and event progression, and they won't be punished for trying out various styles and solutions. One of the things that could be improved is the introduction of new game modes permanently. I understand that possible reasons for not doing so are related to burnout, or balancing the rewards/material farming with other events, but having a variety of things to do in a game is only a plus. There is also the rule of the cool appeal. A lot of the new events and banners get hyped up by amazing promotional material, Hypergryph is a music company etc., so there is a lot of power to those PVs and character EP songs, which might seem kind of trivial, but when you're a hardcore weeb, that stuff makes or breaks anticipation for the game. And yeah, the weeb appeal naturally, since I've also tried other tower defense games that utilize similar, or in some cases even innovative game mechanics, but the weeb appeal was weaker than Arknights', so they don't compare as favorably as Arknights.

i started playing for shalem tbh lols but i do stay because the game is pretty forgiving for me (mainly. other reasons are that i came to like the lore too and the other characters really grew on me) my brothers made my account because one of them failed to get thorns on his, so it was only mine in name at first. i just liked seeing them played by that time (the way they got frustrated re-rolling until they got thorns for "my" account was really funny too). then IS2 was released on CN and them showed me shalem and i was like "i need to have that snake." after IS2 came to global, i started playing little by little while slowly getting a hang around the how-tos (still suck by the way lols) sure, there's grinding and all that, but i don't need to stress myself too much over dailies, and while having meta operators makes my gaming experience so much easier, not having them is much less punishing than other gacha games i've played so far (i think one other gacha game i can compare to AK in this sense is HSR?) so most of the time, i can focus on saving pulls for banners that catch my eyes rather than banners that has meta operators that will undoubtedly make stages feel like cakewalk. it's nice getting surtr ngl, but i doubt not having her would prevent me from clearing stages too, ykno?
