Why Do You Still Play SWTOR? 

I continue to play SWTOR because it allows me to live my Star Wars life. From the day to day goings on, to our personal struggles, we all look to our favorite fictional escapism realm and look to not live in any negative life situation. This game allows me to create my own personal stories through every character I create. I know that there are other MMOs that I could live in, but none of them are Star Wars, and SWTOR isn't SWG. Where I first lived in a galaxy far far away... I also find it fun to create and spec, and gear classes differently, to not follow meta and still be effective in HM dungeons and raids. I don't usually focus on nostalgia, its never been a focal point of why I do things. We age regardless, and I find it taxing to wish for something that already happened. The good thing is, about SWTOR, is the availability to to do what I want in-game.

1. Its part of the Star Wars Expended Univerise and its technically the only thing that being produce under the original Star Wars canon on a regular basis still. For someone like who loves classic Star Wars and despises Disney Star Wars, SWTOR is a must play for that reason. 2. Nostalgic. When this game was announced, I wasn't happy at all due to wanting KOTOR 3 instead. I played this game in 2013 and it was a blast; the story, characters, voice performance, the music and the astheics to the game. It was a game that got me through 2013 when my parent were getting a divorce. 3. The has an excellent replay value to it.

As you said, swtor is one of the most immersive games and one of the best star wars games ever created. No wonder why it still has a strong community, which I am proudly part of

I played from pre-launch, then about 4 years ago I stopped because it felt stale, and my kids took a lot of my time. But I've never found another game that comes close. So now I'm coming back to it, ad hopefully my youngest will play too.

I continue to play because I love the atmosphere of the game, I love the story lines, I LOVE GSF, Huttball, all of the raids, strongholds. They're just so much to love. If you're a Star wars fan then you're missing out if you're not playing

I continue to play because i get to live my own star wars story. And the story choices make leveling feel fresh to me each time i play a new alt because i can make different choices. Plus im addicted to stronghold decorating

I kinda personally agree with you. I've been playing the game since 2014 on my father's account which was the main account I played for a long time. I'm saying this since it obviously ties swtor as some sort of nostalgia trinket for me. Something I appreciate talking about with my dad (since he's a huge Star wars fan and started the game at launch). But I somehow return to the game every year to create and level up a new character, each time, play every aspect of the game, interact with people. The point you make about swtor being a star wars game first and a mmorpg second is very true. I've tried WOW many times with friends and I've always fell short on the game, not being interested. But swtor keeps grabbing me like the first time I've played it. I've had friends that had no prior experiences with mmorpgs or star wars and they were hooked by the game making me hopeful that it will last long enough, but yeah it is inevitable to a certain extent. I'm just already impressed the game has survived 12 years. Enjoying it while it last. (My favorite part of the game is by far introducing new players to operations)

I’ve been playing since early 2012. I’ve grown very attached to the game and it’s my main mmo. I’ve had the same main for 11 years and will be very sad when she’s gone… plus this is the last bit of the old timeline that is still being updated. When this game dies so does the old pre Disney eu.

holy i feel this video i played this game for over 10 years on and off aswell and im still coming back every now and then but i miss the old times and the old game.

Ive been off an on this game since 2014, i was like 15 years old and it was one of my first MMOs ive ever played. And i loved star wars, especially playing KOTOR on orignal Xbox, it became easily my favorite lore around the old republic stuff. I remember how different the game used to be, the difficulty, the huge pvp open world battles, the awesome flashpoints, pvp, everything. I grew with this game, ive probably quit 5-6 times for an year or so alot, but always come back. Lately i returned last july once again. Ive been back into it so much again, all the stories, the fast paced flashpoints, pvp, ops, the huge amount of side quests, planets to expolore, there's so much i really havent done and I feel like i got so much to do whenever i want to. The character customization is some of the best of any MMO ive played. The cutscenes are great and choices are great. The gameplay feels fluid and fun . I love Mara Carnage, and leth op personally, but everything is fun in its own way. Idk man. I've played ESO, DDO, WOW, BDO, and ice pkayed those alot but swtor is the only one i still play now and hasnt been uninstalled. Nowadays im swaying more into solo open world games as my personal life is busier but with SWTOR, i feel like i could jump in anytime and easily get back into it. I could solo, or i could play with others doing FPs and PVP and it literally just takes a short que during whatever I'm doing and then boom, right after some group play im back to what i was doing just like that. I love swtor, idk how long i ll play again, but im enjoying my time now and that's that. I just went off alot and said a bunch at once but this game cool man. Its definitely one of my most played.

I've been playing since 2015 and even though I take breaks this has always been my backup go to game I actually just resubbed and I am doing dailies and FP's to get my gear up to 340-344 I really hope they continue this game my greatest wish would be a remake using unreal engine with maybe soul or black desert style combat even though i have invested a lot of real $ over the years i would be willing to start over for a new version built around unreal engine.

I started this game back in 2018. I made this very RU-vid channel with this very name because of this game. I played it quite frequently from 2018 to 20-21. Got a subscription in 21 and played those expansions and hadn’t had that much fun with the game in ages. However, I’m in that camp of players who don’t really participate in Multiplayer content. I really love the story lines and how it all kinda threads back to previous KOTOR stories. I’ve kinda not played the game much in 22-23. I think I should get back into it, play those newer expansions.

I started playing SWToR around the beta period, and played til 2018-2019 ish. Been re-visiting the game now and then, but i got tired of the game it felt like Bioware just didn''t have the magic in it anymore. Before i started playing SWToR i played WoW and now i dont play either of them, i fell in love with swtor because i loved KOTOR I & II and i wished they'd continue that storyline more. But that love turned into something that wasn't mean to last i guess

I just started playing this game three weeks ago. My first MMO was Star Wars galaxies. This game sort of gave me that young excitement again. I'm loving the stories so far an that's from lvl 1. I'm a current wow player but recently been playing this, and I like it. Wish I would've known about this game when it first released. I'm glad that I know about it now. I'm a subscriber Now. An looking forward to see what the new developers have in stored to bring in more new players/Star Wars fans such as myself.

I’ve been playing Swtor since 2012. Its become a world that remains the same. I can keep going back to it and nothing changes.

I'm new and it's been great fun and a nice community, game sure has issues but I can overlook them for the enjoyment I get from the rest.

So I started the game in December 2011 or January 2012. My original server eventually died and I was the only one on some of the planets. They did a merge and I joined a guild, that guild fell apart and then I stopped playing. I came back in 2016 for the story and stopped playing after finishing Osis quest line. I just came back last week and wow, that was a shock. My brother and I started the game together and we both just restarted. I remember the xp grind back in 2012. We had to do just about every quest on the planet for the first 2 planets. I did about half the planet quests for Tython and was level 10 so I just finished story quest. I left Tython at lvl 16. I remember not hitting 16 until I was half way or fully done with Coruscant. So leveling is way too easy now.... however, this is a positive for the free to play people that just want story. Maybe it's because I've played before but there was no challenge. Another thing, coming back as a non subscriber is brutal. Several things are locked behind subscriber status. I've seen where certain things can be bought with cartel coins or on the gtn. The problem with gtn items are, a f2p player will never be able to afford the 250 million credit cost unless they subscribe. I really wonder if the devs are the ones with those cartel unlocks on the gtn as a f2p player will never be able to obtain those items on the gtn. One more thing and this might be a reason why people who are not playing the game just say the game is dead, they forums on swtor don't have a lot of action on them. Looking at the shadow guide, my main character is shadow, I don't see anything that new. I love the game still. I'm looking forward to running flashpoints with a full group instead of playing by myself. I haven't looked into it yet but I'm assuming the operations are going to be for sub only.

I forever regret that I picked up this game in summer 2012 and missed getting the "Founder" title by days or weeks :c

Growing up the 2 things I loved most was World of Warcraft and Star Wars , I also loved KOTOR so when heard they were releasing a WoW+starwars game based in the old Republic it was literally my dream game and I still play to this day . Unfortunately the future if SWTOR is looking grim and I'm not sure why it is so under appreciated when it plays like WoW but with amazing stories better then alot of single player RPGs. And I still think WoW hasn't released a pvp mode as fun and intense as Huttball.

This game was a big part of my life nostalgia and just logging on hanging out with the bros running hammer point over and over for quick mats🤣. Creating a new character every time I invited friends to play. I will always recommend people to play. The lore is the best, dating back to the original kotor. Tops the movies and always will. When I think of a game that I anticipated most It was the old republic, halo 3 & lich king launch was cool and all but this game was right up my alley will always be my number 1 even though I don't play them much anymore, usually addicted to league 😆

I started playing at launch after SWG shutdown and I felt that this would be different experience compared to what I had with SWG, which was the case but slowly but surely SWTOR started altering and changing things that made me wonder what direction was the game headed in, what exactly did it want to be and how it would be played. In the end it became something that has a bit of an identity crisis, the game had gone through so many changes it felt like SWTOR didn't know what it wanted to be as a game, and in the end I saw little to no reason to continue, and with it being handed over to Broadsword I have little faith it'll go anywhere. For a newcomer whom hasn't experienced the game they shall be not disappointed with the amount of content they have ahead of them, but for veterans whom have played from launch I honestly feel should find an alternative.

I came back as a full time subscriber for OCE servers. I like star wars and love mmos.

I've been around since launch. On and off through the years. What I love most is the combat and the class specializations. All of them are fun in their own ways and learning new specs is what keeps me around. The end-game activities need polishing in my opinion but still fun, especially if you make friends and play in groups. Ops are fine as they are but flashpoints and uprisings need an overhaul. Simply improving the enemy aggro radius would do it for me. Casually cheesing past packs of enemies without a logical skip just feels lame to me. Slicing a door or repairing an elevator to take a shortcut is cool and feels practical. Skipping 80% of Taral V does not. Increase the rewards particularly for master mode and call it a day 👍

I play because it is the longest RPG gameplay ever. I know it is an MMO but since this game allows you to play solo it makes it possible to play it as an RPG. I used to PvP all the time. I even used to run with a PvP Live streamer for a few years. I got to a point where, around 4.0 the game started to become very toxic especially to New Players in PvP(What I played 90% of the time). I got burned out and decided to just finish every class and that is what I did. Now I am starting a new playthrough using a Counselor because I only completed it once in this class. Playing slowly and TRYING to enjoy the story. In Alderaan now so I get to have Nadia soon after Quesh I believe so looking forward to that.

the only thing i really digged about swtor since day 1 is the combat style and warzones were so good

i like swotor as a whole. i just dont like how ppl play the game, i Like small grp content (FPs) but i dont like skipping and rushing, but that how most ppl play in swtor. hense im having a rough time enjoying the game.

I can relate.. Also maybe because theres nothing else out there worth of even checking.. idk. On one hand it seems we are very unlucky to live in this "Mobile Gaming Era" : Big money.. Big Business. So don't expect any AAA+ Titles or any good games worth our attention neither at Consoles nor PCs for many years to come. There is no Light in the Horizon or at the End of the Tunnel... not even a small glimpse of Light.. so its currently very easy to turn to the Dark Side without any tryhard Grind In the other hand... welp theres no other hand , we lost our 2nd hand from a Lightsaber duel a decade ago and its 98% Cyborg Android sh*t now. Don't get me wrong , I freakin LOVE it. Its even better & Stronger than my real bio hand

well i used to be addicted to World of Warcraft then this game launched so i started to play during downtime -- breaks between raids =/ i enjoyed the class stories planets exploration grinding for gear (when stats -comp mattered ) role based FP's... AHH memories was sad then happy game went F2P alot of guildies jumped on board it was a Blast i cant stay away ( no 100 toons =P ) sub'd stayed on when i quit WoW in 17' and im back home enjoying every hour i can get

No need for a game which just took's out all good part's and leaves us with simple gameplay with new bs grind features. I mean you can used to earn money, grind gear ect anytime anyway you want. They changed game to a weekly quest thing but beside everythinh (Im not gone a talk all), why do people were playing and as a person who were in top 3 in league in pvp it was a reward combat sytem. It was a simple for all basic player for all their needs, nobody will try to finidh hammer station vet mode with just 2 ops under 5 min. As well as if you master skill sets it used to be so usefull and was putting so much depth to combat that nobody could'v never thought. The ballance was made trough class skils but every class had basic min 3 def skill, heal skill, dmg red ect, now they took skills and putted in skill tree so instead of having a real power of your character it feels you playing in not old republic but skywalker saga :D. I mean tgere i lot to talk but its a shame that, we were just expecting a class combination not turn game in to leuge of legend or at least a engine update or something. As a person who played this game +3k hours and had a lot memories (just recently tried as well) its officially dead, maybe in future if they make a new one but swtor will alway have a special place in my heart.

the last expansions since Knights have really livened the game up for me 💯👍

30% Nostalgia 70% efffing Stars Wars bruh. Began in 2011 and on and off since then. Back when the merc healer pew pew team mates to heal. lol. I do like to think that me subscribing helps support the game as well.
