Stoked to see VC on Gypsy Tales! As an enduro guy who also enjoys road biking to stay fit, I’ve been binging this guys content lately and it’s super motivating. I’ve definitely been getting in more rides lately just because of watching his videos.

I think for me mtb is really good for conditioning and you really have to be strategic with your gear selection and body position in order to keep flow on trails. For me it helps quite a bit for moto. Mountain bikes are also a great tool to practice balance point wheelies and other slow speed balance drills
@ROSE-by5su

I ride MTB for 13 years and you don’t have to be strategic on picking gear it just come naturally.Probably choosing a line quickly was the main thing I know will help them in motos.The wheelies are not necessary because it was whole different feel on the balance point on the bike and moto and slow speed balance of track stand was not that necessary on moto if it’s a trials person maybe like 40% it can help.It’s great for conditioning body and stamina and also it can help them to not get burnt out on riding motorcycle and also help them to be more fearless because learning to jump a bike was scary than learning to jump a motorcycle

Appreciate the angle he took as it relates to "why" motocross athletes can benefit from cycling. Breaking up the monotony, and maintaining a cardiovascular base, when not riding, can be expected benefit from any form of endurance training. However, I see many athletes spend hours on the bicycle or in the gym, thinking it will help them on the dirt bike. That is incorrect. The most important form of training will be what you do on the dirt bike, period. The gym and other forms of cross training should never take priority over your work on the bike, nor should they be causing residual fatigue, which takes away from quality practice.

Coming from someone who has grown up in the motocross industry and is friends with a lot of the top guys nowadays, the road bike and mountain bike is used more as a tool for recovery, rather a tool to gain a ton of fitness. In the offseason, it is used to build a base of aerobic fitness but during season, it is just a tool to recover. Just my two cents.
@MotoPoradniki
@MotoPoradniki 2 года назад
I would agree, additionally its relatively cheap, can do it anywhere, allows for exhaustion in longer periods of time and is easy on joints (road, mtb depends where you ride).

@ROSE-by5su
@ROSE-by5su 2 года назад
Actually it’s a tool to gain ton of fitness if you train that much on a bike you will know how much stamina and leg endurance it gives you like your leg muscles get used to moving on different angle than how much leg movements you got on a motocross like my legs have more freedom and the stamina I get from training my stamina with a bike was just unlimited like riding bike for 2 hours or more and that thing will make you say I can do 30 minute moto

@@Spencerrathkamp didn’t know you ride for Specialized thats nice.But some riders do cycling as part of their training like Ken Roczen I think or Glenn ride bike part of their training and Team Star Yamaha also do cycling.I ride bikes for 14 years I’m 17 now and I ride XC and how much stamina I get on cycling was on another level because I got asthma and the difference it made was so big that’s why I know how much cycling helps them in training also I ride trails. Off the topic but you are a pro so I trained with a good spec bike like got the tan lines of hard work but I have to sell it to help my family because of pandemic and now I’m back into riding again but on a really cheap bike but now I can’t train like how I’m used to be because that bike was just like a wall that biking was not feel the same again I’m not happy riding it.Also should I risk riding my XC bike on Enduro and Downhill track because I’m supposed to do Freeride and Slopestyle kind of riding can’t afford that shit so as a perspective of a pro is it worth it or I should save money

Wish i could get back on a dirtbike and prove myself again but unfortunately at this point I cant.

As far as pacing goes, you can do the same thing with running. In the 70's and into the 80's running was the premier conditioning tool for moto. The reason for cycling being used in moto has more to do with trainers being involved in cycling before they got involved in moto than anything else. Swimming is probably even better than cycling for low impact conditioning. There just aren't any trainers in moto that were swimmers...

Coming from a biking background but not being a true moto guy/ never raced or even rode on a actual track. I confirm all he’s saying living proof right here. Started off as a soccer kid riding my bike all over for miles either road or woods/trails . Grew up got into football track hockey and bodybuilding.. still having a love passion for bikes of course but not riding nearly as much. Started riding dirt bikes heavily then stopped for a few years. Keeping up with the bodybuilding and wellness . 2018-19 back into riding with the “mass” he was talking about and let me tell you not even 15 mins riding and I’m pumped. I’m no a class but no worm either when it comes to riding capability, does my form need practice work? For sure nothings perfect, ride time increases for sure, but what he said in this video is dead on, you have to dedicated off the bike more to be sufficient on the bike. I’ll never stop lifting weights but I will integrate different diet and training protocols so I can get the best of both worlds. Getting ready to scoop up a nice specialized to get back to roots and hopefully increase stamina conditioning when I hop back on the dirt scooter

I know a couple of pros that ride their bicycles every day and the reason they do it is not because of the massive gains they get from cardio it’s because it’s gruelingly boring it’s a mental grind as well as a physical grind but mainly it’s the mental boredom and staying focused on the pedal pattern and pushing nonstop for a long period of time hopes train your brain to focus through grueling moments

Not to mention the fear of death with each passing car and truck. Never ridden since funny enough lol.

As a moto guy who worked full time in the cycling industry I HATE Vegans! Then I found VC, he's not your average douchebag. I was a purely a mtb rider, and this "The Vegan Cyclist" channel kept showing up in my feed and everytime I saw it, like many people I believe, didn't want to get yelled at that he is better than us and the channel just seemed gross for lack of a better word. For some reason I ended up watch one of his videos, I think I probably didn't even notice what channel it was and just watched it and to an extent fell in love. Tyler is vegan, that is something he is passionate about, but he will say on multiple occasions that he is not there to yell at you about it, it is just something that he is. He once wasn't vegan and understands that you can't force veganism on someone else. The other part of his RU-vid name is cyclist because that is something else he is passionate about. In the podcast they talk about how they seem to gravitate towards other persons that have a passion and tyler has a passion and that is what makes him cool, also he is bold, quirky and goofy but he doesn't seem to care. Basically just trying to say being a vegan doesn't define tyler. I don't think you have to like him but it is definitely worth breaking down you barriers to interests because of labels such as "vegan". Bruh I don't know if I am making sense but I just am trying to convey I wrote The Vegan Cyclist off because of his name and I don't think you should. Ya know, it is worth it to find a better reason to write him off in my opinion.
