Why Does God Kill Innocent People in the Old Testament? 

Whew! This week's video is a very controversial subject. I'd love to hear your thoughts. The video is a little longer than normal but there was no way I could get this under 5 minutes. I hope you'll watch all the way through and provide your opinion!

Thank you for this video, I was filled with grief after reading the old testament - but through this video I was able to see God´s reasoning which helped me feel better. Thank you.

I have a brother which once told me he has problems believing in a God that ordered children killed. My response was that God had his reasons... that the entire society was wicked. You just gave me additional information I can use to answer such questions.

I believe a lot of people having problem with this teaching not because God is unfair, it's because of the way humans look at death... We tend to see death is the end of all things or something bad... To God I believe it's like saying going from one room of the house into another room of the house... When a person graduates from high school for a lot of people this is the last time there will ever be a student in their life is this a bad thing or do they transition into adulthood??? Death is not the end of life it's just the beginning of forever...

Allen, I want to thank you, buddy. Today, I got into a huge hurricane of confusion when I was studying this verse "I did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it." I was "Okay, how can this reconcile with the fact that we can't imagine Jesus being in favour for stoning or killing?" And to be honest, I still haven't found a clear explanation, however, with your explanation, I do admit that no one deserves to live before God. And as God, he has all right to kill whoever he wants to, so, I'm more in peace, I'd say. But I still have some doubts about how Jesus and how Jesus (God) is showed in the old testament. Edit: People, I was in this confusion, and decided to shut off my phone, not to watch any video and go to my Father, and directly ask him. I was honest, I said how I couldn't reconcile Jesus with the God presented in the old testament, I was honest and asked Him to help me in my doubts. And while I was praying I said "I know God that different situations require different sides of you." And that just stroke me. And after I prayed I thought "Those people in the old testament, like Israel, they were extremely rebellious. They could see the sky literally fall down for them that they would still disobey God. The way Jesus fulfilled God's will would never keep those people walking straight. And then I thought...hmm, yes, different situations require different sides of God, that doesn't mean he changes. And I thanked Him for this, I still have to study more and ask Him for more guidance, but that for sure ceased my confusion! Thanks, Jesus :)

There is actually no clear answer to the question. The only answer I know is that He is GOD and if we know how He thinks and work on His decisions, He is not God. He will just be a regular John. He is beyond everything and evryone.

Great video, but I think it's a good idea to mention that Jesus was the ONLY innocent man in this world. I know u brushed up on it a little bit but it's important to emphasize that.

People often don't get that God is Judge. Meaning He can give and take life for He is Creator. We cannot judge God by human standards also because God isn't human to be judged even. Meanwhile, people complain about God handling judgments and when He doesn't it's also a problem. Look at the court system even, with the judge sending inmates to death row all the time. Look back at history and the murders mankind has committed whether socially, politically or even religiously. So much blood has been shed. No one talks against that even in the killer on death row, who took ONE life, right? They agree for that person to die. People are hypocritical in their viewpoints also. When Christ came, grace became widely and deeply available to all mankind. Before Christ, God had to be the Judge He is to keep order in the world and also bring forth The Messiah through mankind, spotless and unblemished. Hope this helps someone here reading get some better understanding.

Skeptics I’ve encountered often use references from the new testament about the love of Jesus and the golden rule and ask question like “how is this the same God in the O.T?” This has been difficult for me to explain to unbelievers, as they usually seem to not understand the harmony of God’s love and wrath throughout the entire bible. The thing that makes this question so controversial is the fact that people including myself have failed to keep in mind to humble ourselves and realize that we are all equal and not entitled to peace or even a good night's sleep. We are that low and wicked

The argument at 6:21 is a little confusing - because some people still grew up and were evil and killed others. Would you be able to create an updated video breaking down the understanding of those who evil and still live - why would they still need to exist if their acts are against the commandments? I'm not sure I understand why there is so much killing in general or to take the lands of others - when it's against commandments

It’s a Trick Question!!!! No one is innocent. Jesus said who is good but God?

If God is willing to prevent evil but is not able to, then he is not all-powerful. If he is able to prevent evil but is not willing to, then he is not all-good. If he is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why is there evil and suffering in the world? Because of free will? No, because if God is all knowing, he always knew every choice we would ever make, rendering free will an illusion and foreordaining our destinies. God knew Adam and Eve would disobey before he ever made them. Being all knowing and all loving, he could have prevented this from happening, especially if the “free will” to choose an action contrary to his will leads to eternal torment. That’s not free will; it’s a threat. And yet he creates us knowing what path we’ll choose before we’re even born. That means we were all set up. The trap was already laid. And there’s no way to avoid it. It’s as if the all-loving God wanted to judge and condemn us before we were ever born.

We do not know how God thinks. The thoughts of God are not at all what we think. We also do not know all mystery. I do know one thing for sure. He created me and is my spiritual father. I am going to try and do what he tells me to do in the Bible and confess my sins to him and ask for forgiveness. Period.

MY VIEW IS THIS: If I were a baby during that time period and understood the choice to die quickly by the sword or to be sacrificed (burned alive) by my parents to a false god, I’d choose the sword .... same choice as an adult now! 😬

God gives us the breath of life and He is the One who determines our time of birth and death.No man can control God or argue against His judgements because He is all knowing. Yahweh can blind and stun Saul of Tarsus, speak to him, then directly make him change his ways to become an apostle. Saul was ruthlessly killing his people yet Yahweh spoke to him and spared his life. Yet he never does anything like this in the Old Testament. He willingly chooses to destroy and spill blood when he knows he can utilize other methods to subdue the wicked. Remember the children of Egypt and think about that for a bit.

Allen parr is simply saying that we need to look at our selves. Look, this is not complicated but people make it complicated because we dont want to held accountable by no means as we get older. Most of us have kids. Now, we want our children to live free and have fun within our homes,. At the same time, we want them to abide by certain rules that are in place to make them better people as they get older, or to simply protect them. Children can explore, but sometimes If we let a child explore a little too much, it can very make a difference of life and death, such as the wall outlet. While we want our kids to explore and give them free will, we also must warn, teach, and prohibit them from doing things like sticking objects in the outlet.

It's just amazing the mental gymnastics that people go through to justify the MASSIVE flaws in the bible. If god were all knowing, all powerful, and all good, no one would have to die like they do in reality, or in the bible. I have always wondering why God did all the things that He did to His Chosen people. It must had been because they did sinned.

Brother I was praying asking the lord about a love one who has died and all I got in prayer was a deuteronomy script and it's non of your business... The secret things belongs to the lord... I said yes lord I trust you and understand...he also said take what they taught you (he was a pastor) and prosper with it or grow with it...this is needed I've explained many times on this subject... He also said we do our selves harm by not listing to him.. Last thing I even know of judgment given to people by not listening to the lord warning and to the day they passed away this time in a car accident... But the lord is just and true to his will

I too was troubled by this, so much so, that I avoided the old testament because I couldn't understand how a GOD of love could order the killing of woman and children in addition to cattle. ONLY THEN, will you will be saved)! And do not wait because you do not know when you will die (sit and think deeply about that. You have NO CLUE when you will die! Today could be your last day, tonight could be your last night. You can die in your sleep or even in the next hour!) God does not kill inocent people it is people kill inocent people over their own gain for power but it is also not the people's fault for we are not wrestling against flesh and blood but against principalities of darkness of rulers of spiritual wickedness in high places. So we pray for our Leaders and pray for those around us and we continue to show love trying to do what is right no matter what.

Why would God kill so many people but spares Satan all this time.

2nd Samuel 12: 22 David said, “While the baby was still alive, I fasted, and I cried. I thought, ‘Who knows? Maybe the Lord will feel sorry for me and let the baby live.’ 23 But now that the baby is dead, why should I fast? I can’t bring him back to life. Someday I will go to him, but he cannot come back to me.” "Someday I will go to him..." could be suggesting that David believed he'd one day be with his infant son in heaven. This idea is in respect to Allen's statement that the Bible may suggest that people go to heaven if they die before the age of accountability.

The Bible gives bitter truth, and only few can handle it, those who can't, question God and His Word.

So this all seeing all knowing god doesn't trust those babies, despite of the generation they're from, to use their free will and choose which direction they want to take in life. Therefore decided to kill them all because he knew they were going to be wicked people in the future. However, he trusted Eve with her free will to not eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil whose action doomed mankind. Sometimes it seems that god chooses when to be all seeing and all knowing.

God is the ultimate example of what humans should be and so that's why it is important for us to tell our children to m-der anyone who has very different morals from us. So now, the rule of thumb is... Love your neighbor and your enemies but also m-der them too whenever possible especially if your neighbor is your enemy. Thus saith the Lord!

Then why God don't kill Satan?

What about David and Bathsheba's baby? What sin is a baby guilty of? Being annoying in a church service? I mean theoretically yes God can just resurrect the baby to Heaven but it's not mentioned in the text. Nor is it written as "God lovingly laid the baby to sleep to be resurrected on His glorious return" but "The Lord STRUCK the child" I mean would you agree with a judge sending you to prison saying "In 5 years time you're going to commit rape, so I'll put you in prison in advance." Or would you agree with me going around knifing all babies because they are under the age of accountability and get a pass to Heaven, whereas if I let them grow up, there are greater odds they pick the wide road to destruction than the narrow road to life?

Thank you for this video. I think that is a question that any of us who’ve been on the border of becoming a Christian have wondered. It’s taking me a long time to come to the understanding of why these things are allowed in the world. You make some really good points about why God kills - especially the first one, that we all die!I think the other thing that has been occurring to me about this topic and others in general about life is that after many decades here you start realizing there’s no rhyme and reason for a lot of it. And there’s a form of acceptance that you have to finally get to. And that comes from understanding that God has a vision that is out of our reach. The Utopia that the secular or new age wants it’s not realistic and kind of delusional. Most of us have been deceived by what the world and the humankind thanks is achievable by her own hand. If you really look around you’ll see that centuries have gone by and we still keep doing the same things to each other and ourselves. There is a plan, we’re not privy to all of it, and it makes us question why God seemingly kills innocent ones. And until you dig a little deeper you will “wonder” why instead of know why. I think that a lot of us are in denial of the underlying brutality of being on this planet, but if you stop being entertained and distracted you’ll begin see the truth and it makes it easier to understand.

The Bible's description of God makes more sense if we see it not as the description of a being that is by our definition perfect, but as an attempt to explain in terms of a god the world they knew, and the past as they thought it had happened, So their ancestors killed children, or they thought they did, and to justify them they made it a divine command; and the terrible things they saw happen around them, happened because they were God's will.

These are two questions I was wondering about when you talked about babies: 1) Does this possibly come into play at all when it comes to the question of abortion? I'm wondering how I would respond if someone asked me why we can't allow abortions if God allowed the death of babies/infants or something along those lines. 2) my second question is about God showing no favoritism, I'm not sure how to word my question, but maybe my question is, because God does not contradict Himself, we know that His acts are not out of favoritism but justice? His acts of preserving the life of His own but terminating the lives of others, we are all children of God aren't we? But some choose to be disobedient and go astray? Thank you!

God is God. He made everything everything around us. We are all born sinners, to begin with. One minute to a hundred years of life, we all will die sometime. Those who are destined to Hell will go to Hell. Those who are destined for Heaven will go to Heaven. We don't understand the mind of God. To help in doing so I suggest you read the Bible. Multiple times, understanding God will be better understood. Do not doubt God. Do not mock God. God is sovereign.

I've worked as a foster care caseworker and really struggle with understanding why there are children that are hurt. I now recognize that sin is in the world and Satan is real. He infects the abuser. I pray that God protects them.

Here is my take on it. It all depends on how you interpret the Seed of the Serpent in Genesis 3:15 as well as the 1st 4 verses of Genesis 6 (The sons of God part) My personal conclusion after doing some research in different cultures is that the Sons of God are the Fallen Angels(The History Channel call them 'ancient aliens') which sinned mentioned the Letter of Jude. Their sins include getting it on with human women to form the Nephillim(Giants), which can be the seed of the serpent, blending different species of animals together, hence all the different chimera creatures in mythologies (what did the ancient people see that we don't?). This also explains why God deemed that 'all flesh was corrupted' leading to the inhabitants only thinking evil and decided to give a final grace period of 120 years before flooding the world which is also seen in various mythologies. Which would make sense since God said that the seed of the woman will crush the serpent's head, the serpent would want to mess up the seed of the woman (Shout out to Rob Skiba for this). The same thing applies to God telling Israel to destroy the nations, they were from Canaan, which were known for having giants, they also seem to have done the whole mixing animal species together hence there is a Law in the Torah that says 'do not mate different kinds of animals together'. God saw what these hybrid creatures did and since he promised not to flood the world again, need to get rid of them in different methods (notice that they were also given about 500-600 years before Israel was told to wipe them out). It would also explain why God tells Abraham, Issac and Jacob not to take wives from Canaanites since their genetics are not purely from Eve. So from this I realised that the Old Testament as a whole also shows a cosmic chess match between God and Satan, God's goal is to bring Jesus from the pure genetics of Eve (Gen 3:15) and Satan is to try to prevent it.

Man! This helped me with questions I had on my heart! I kept asking myself why the Lord allows Christian's in Africa to be murdered and why does he let them starve when the bible says he even feeds the birds, so he'll take care of us; but thinking in a way like, 'God has a larger plan and it's not for me to know and understand' really helped me out. I still wonder though in ways why he doesn't feed them. God is sovereign, and bc of that, I find myself feeling like I'm not big enough to try and understand!
