Ataxia, also known as "ataxia in cats" in Spanish, refers to a neurological condition that affects a cat's coordination and balance. It affects the cat's ability to control its voluntary movements, causing unsteady gait, stumbling, and difficulty maintaining balance. There are several potential causes of ataxia in cats, ranging from underlying medical conditions to toxic substances. We discuss several factors that may contribute to the development of ataxia, including infectious diseases, trauma, genetic predispositions, and exposure to certain medications or chemicals. Identifying the symptoms of ataxia is crucial to seeking early intervention and appropriate treatment.
