100% agreeing with Kenton…it’s Doeren. I can’t understand the slugfest-win ugly mentality that has been consistently been shown during the last 12 years. More often, this mentality finds the Pack on the losing end of winnable games. The BC and Wake losses alone over the last 12 years are nothing short of allowing those teams to hang around. Great show guys!
Wake Forest has gotten us multiple times in games we had no business losing. I’d even put Syracuse somewhat in that category - although turnovers were the main story. Think about how different 6-2 would feel right now
We can talk about Doren’s slugfest/defense/special teams to win it philosophy, and I agree it is. But it’s deeper than that. It’s also a play not to lose philosophy that he’s ingrained into the team and he is not trusting his horses to get the job done. Playmakers make plays when they get the ball.
My question for you, Grayson and Kenton, is if this team is a reflection of the attitude and temperament of Coach Doeren, how do we change his approach to make it more strategically brilliant? We clearly need some tweaking here and there to help our team reach its full potential. We have crafty players and highly skilled offensive coaches. Offensively we should be soaring much higher, yet we barely outscore opponents when we do win. We are a 55 points per game team, playing like a team with only one option for success and hoping it will be enough. I feel like we're turning the corner and about to enter Easy Street, so long as the navigation system is reading the map correctly.
Tough question to answer. Even with Coaching criticisms, there's a lot of room for player improvement as well. OLine play has been extremely hit or miss, CJ has a lot of Freshman moments, and some guys just haven't been the player we thought they would be. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of an Offensive resurgence in these last 4 games like we saw last year. Winning that game at Cal has put something in the air for me. This Bye Week will be put to good use Offensively, I believe
5:49 I agree with Kenton. CJ Bailey is giving NCSU top 5 power 4 conference QB play. His receivers outside of OSU transfer Noah Rogers haven't caught balls at that level. I do think CJ Bailey + Noah Rogers means that NCSU is no longer one player away from the breakthrough. I also see NCSU getting higher caliber receivers in the transfer portal.
Doeren has already said who he is and it’s not in step with this quickly changing college football paradigm. Any head coach that continues to say “a win is a win” after the 2023 Seminoles, is not paying attention or stubborn. Like it or not (I don’t personally) this is what it’s become. I can definitely see DD going the way of Tony Bennett when he finally comes to this realization.
@@LockedOnWolfpack Seriously! Your approach to playing any game should relate to your personnel, not some arbitrary "philosophy." Also, if it doesn't work, stop doing it! In the past (i.e. last year), perhaps we were short on offensive talent so the philosophy made some sense, but that's not the case this year. It seemed to me that at the end of last year's basketball season, we stopped runnin' and gunnin' as much and were just able to execute in the half court offensively and defensively. DJ Burns could not run the court, so . . . I'm not sure if this was a conscious decision on Keatts' part, but things worked out very well.
That would be 2021, imo. They've been stopped far too often 4th & Short. That's why I think we should get creative. Put Joly in the backfield. Line up in the Power I. Go get a Yard. Bet he does
@@LockedOnWolfpack I think we may need to line Vann up back there to get that yard. Oline seems to leave their "fortitude" in the locker room every week. I agree that they need to get creative because of the oline.
You know, Grayson? Sometimes you give us so much to chew on with just your opening statement, that I almost can't get past it, to get to the main themes of the day. But you ask a really good question in is it too many cooks or is it just that the right cook hasn't turned on his oven!?! My only respond would be that it depends on whether we are talking about the players, the coaches, or both. I don't think it's the offensive players. Our players have grown tremendously over the course of the season, and we see that there's room for all of our weapons on offense to be successful as long as plays are executed with confidence. If you're talking coaches, I can see how one could come to the conclusion that maybe we have too many "cooks" with varying degrees of expertise, in the ear of the QB, which can lead to confusion, stagnation, and a lack of confidence. Too many "cooks" saying do this and do that could be the reason why we see CJ sometimes just blank out at a critical moment.
We need a "Southern" coach instead of a "mid west" coach. We play different here. Speed, speed, speed....mobile QBs. We dont play slug fest, grinder games well. Daves a nice guy. Not a good coach for us.
