Why does one have to wear Rubber Bands?

My orthodontist made me wear rubber bands two times and I usually got the cross bite, overbite and open bite 😅

I have problems with my bites so in the summer I put on a hedgeear and by 2024 I will put braces.Plus the hedgeear has helped a lot with my bite

my elastics is put on like letter z(1 in left n 1 in right)

Ok this is right, I have an overbite but my teeth don’t align so the bands on either side are opposite. Hope that helps

I have an overbite but it’s mostly gone now because I’ve been putting them in after I eat and brush. So the next time I go to visit my orthodontist they were talking about discontinuing rubber bands or going to night time wear only because I am wearing them full time.

I have been having braces since two years and i am almost done. I don't know if it's just me Or it's for everyone here, but, I was never made to wear rubber bands!!!. Every month, I have an appointment with the orthodontist. He "tightens" It by adding a rubber stringish thing and that's it no rubber band. I have ceramic braces. I am now confused, hope someone clears it.
