Have you ever watched a movie with a character walking in some sand and all of a sudden they start sinking? It’s a scary thought to be swallowed up by a patch of quicksand but it’s always good to know what it is and how to get out of it. Quicksand surprisingly is just ordinary sand saturated in water. Since quicksand needs water, it’s not commonly found in deserts as you might see in TV and movies, but more likely found near a water source such as beaches, riverbanks, marshes, and lakes. If quicksand is made of just sand and water, how do you sink?
