Covid? I remember that time on twitch during Covid when you streamed at night and you were hammered. That was epic. Here is $10 in income to report to Trudeau. You rock. Don’t ever change. 👍🏻
Claus trying to convince himself and the taxman he does't sell goods, with a "Shop the Claus Kellerman Store" link below his videos showing mugs, t-shirts etc for sale 🤣
CRA (And yes i'm in Alberta) Keeps telling me I owe them twenty seven thousand dollars. But then when I ask, they don't know why?!Nor does my accountant...But they're withholding tax refunds and carbon tax rebates and everything and occasionally sending me in regular mail, threatening letters... It's a blatant shakedown, and these people are thieves. The Commonwealth of Western Canada needs to happen!
I'm not a supporter of the current gov't but your description of the CERB issue is mostly incorrect. The criteria was that the person needed to earn $5k in personal income in 2019 and not be working due to COVID in 2020, there were no hours requirements (a different program CRB had hours requirements). People who are being required to repay it mostly fall into a group which likely didn't earn $5k in personal income in 2019, but when CERB came out in 2020 they revised their 2019 taxes to show just over $5k in income so they would qualify. Some people were small business owners, who had previously used deductions to push their profit below $5k, and were now revising their taxes to show fewer deductions, others were likely tipped employees who claimed few tips in 2019, then later revised their income to show more tips. All of these people have a chance to defend themselves, but many have no evidence of their income. Many of these individuals either defrauded the tax system in 2019 and likely prior years, but were likely eligible for CERB when they revised/reduced their prior fraud, or defrauded the CERB program in 2020 by making up fake income to look like they qualified. Obviously, the CERB program was managed extremely poorly, and this outcome should have been fairly predictable, but a lot of the "victims" are really not victims.
Federal income tax is illegal. The Federal Income Tax act was never ratified. But no one has the money to fight the federal government so we just pay it to avoid jail.
clearly you dint know history, income tax was to pay for WW1 but it worked so well ,they kept charging it. just like every other tax they said would be "temporary"
I guess nobody here really knows history because the income tax is actually created by Abraham Lincoln in 1862 to pay for the civil war and was not ratified to the 1913
Feds make money off of oil and gas leases, mining leases. Look at Dept of Interior and BLM Bureau of Land Management. Sold land to citizens, still do. Just the money off oil and gas leases could make all Americans tax free. As American citizens our resources should be paying for our needs
@@TheBitter73 Corporations get most of their power from the government giving them legal protections / stifling smaller competitors. Take away government power, and said corporations will automatically lose a lot of their power with it.
One more thing I hate, is paying interest. Why? Because they don't have to show you anything for the money you give them. If Canada had a balanced budget, and I gave them tax money, they would have to show me what my money bought. Like here is the school we built with your money, here is the doctor we hired, etc. But now with interest, you give the government money, and they don't have to show you anything. Do we really know where this interest money is going? Really? Interest money, is money thrown out the window. It's almost like the governments all over the planet have their countries on the verge of bankruptcy. I assume that you have to know something about math to be a government financial advisor. Any advisor worth a grain of salt would say: Stop paying interest. Tighten your belts for a few years, live lean, and pay your debts off. Then all you interest payments are gone.
having lived in the states for a long time...and now moving back to Canada...i can see the differences...the left side of the government takes more than they give...in both countries...Trudeau needs to go...hopefully Canadians will have the nuts to get it done when election time comes around
Our tax system down here in the States can be a miasmic mess for anyone who does not hold a traditional job where you get paid on a regular basis and your taxes are automatically taken out. You would be considered an independent contractor for what you do with RU-vid. RU-vid would have to file a 1099 form with the IRS for all the income they paid you. Down here you would have to pay income taxes and both the employer and employee share of Social Security and Medicare taxes. The amount you would have to pay would be dependent on your net income after your allowable deductions. I was an independent contractor for about 15 years and never paid a dime in taxes. I traveled for every job I did which opened up a boatload of allowable deductions that whittled my tax liability to zero.
We haven't gotten the letter yet but I expect one anytime. I was fortunate to stay working because the company I work for was deemed essential. I made parts for ventilators. My wife on the other hand got the lay off notice from her employer. Funny thing is she was part time and qualified for CERB but made more on CERB than her job, which was eventually terminated because the business closed. I'm waiting for the government to realize that she was collecting more than she would have earned working. She is a smart one. She saved every penny the government paid and we lived off my pay cheque. Fortunate in one way that we were forced to stay home and could not go out and spend money on our 3 kids activities. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to make ends meet. The government was very sloppy with handing out CERB. And now they want their money back without admitting they screwed up. The government offered free money. What do you think the masses would do? ACCEPT! Duh. This was a test run for basic income. See what's happening?
If they ordered people to stay home and removed their ability to provide for themselves, but offered a way they could make the bills while the people complied, it was a government caused problem. If the government doesn't have a way for the people to make the money back that they couldn't make because of the government caused problem, then the government should be stuck with the bill. I we make a mistake or a costly mistake, the government doesn't give us our money back and let us try again.
Governments, neither in Canada nor in Germany are interested in the effort you have to earn some money! All they want to know is the amount of money your earn because they want to have their protection money!
Funny, I would think that they would have to prove something recent, not force you to report for 5 years unless they had something recent. It would be nice to know if a Canadian tax lawyer would say.
No problem with that here in Europe. Some got a loan and have to pay that back. Everybody else just kept on working and receive their monthly pay from their employer in full since you have a contract with them. Employers did get loans to pay their staff and have to pay that back
Hey Claus - Taxes! The bane of the common man's existence (who pays too much as a percent of their hard work) and the opportunity for even more grifting by the rich (who pay too little for the work they don't do). So, now you understand why we threw all that tea into Boston Harbor back in December of 1773. And of course, here in the good ol' USA, the IRS (Internal Revenue Service, i.e. the tax people, for you Canadian folk) has, for years, been starved of funding, so instead of auditing the rich - you know, where all the money is - most of the auditing has been of the middle class, where most of the money isn't. Doesn't seem logical to go after the people with the least money until you look at the makeup of our Congress - about 437 people in the House (lower chamber) and 100 in the Senate (upper chamber) - where about 30% of House members are lawyers and about 51% senators are lawyers. Does anyone know a lawyer who votes to increase their own taxes? Your "overpayment" problem has its analog down here as well. In 2022, a major scandal broke when our Social Security Administration (retirement benefits, disability payments, etc.) disclosed they had made huge "overpayments " and that while they had "recovered" about $4.7 billion, by the end of 2022, there was still $21.6 billion unrecovered. The problem? Many of the recipients were elderly, poor, or disabled and had already spent the money. They have little or no way of repaying it. As reported, by the time the government catches mistakes, years can pass, and the amounts it says people owe can balloon to staggering levels. Social Security beneficiaries struggling to make ends meet described being overwhelmed and panic-stricken by demands that they repay money they no longer have. And this situation was created by the very agency designed to be a safety net for the most needy. So Happy Trails pardner! Keep your calculator close.
The only way for the taxes to not know how much money you earned is if get cash in hand otherwise they are working with banks banks will report everything if they ask them
The agency said it will only be taking legal action against those who have not responded or co-operated and who have been determined to have the financial capacity to pay
Isn't it nice that some government BUREAUCRAT somewhere can demand that you prove that what you reported to your lords and masters is what you said it was? Wait a minute aren't those guys supposed to be a public servant? Serving the people.... like you?
I'm not Canadian, but I'm rooting for Pierre in your next election. That guy is a master at exposing reporters for the dishonest partisan hacks that they are.
Mr. Toronto man, go away from my door You've got my wheat and canola seed, you're askin' me for more Better fly 'fore I produce my .44 This Cerb thing was Poorly conceived and implemented. At least in the US the Stimulus Checks had language set in stone that it was a gift not a loan. Back to Canada. Looks like if you made less than 12k a year on your 9-5 job or less than 5k a year as self employed you owe nothing to the Canadian Tax Man.
i'm so frustrated with the kv2 player just never warning any of his arty, or allies for that matter, that there was an m4a3 in the A line since he got shot from that general area... like god damn dude... just ping a few times
The government said that they wanted to get the money out quickly and had basic requirements that had to be met. There are lots of people that abused the system and applied knowing they didn’t qualify for the aid. There are also others that qualified but are being asked to repay. It’s a shit show lol.
Awesome story with hiden metal box with cash! In Croatia (Europe) goverment gave 4000 HRK ( about 750 CAD per month) for program 'Stay at home ' during covid. Nonsense, just debth now.
I am very sorry you have to go through this rid, if they think you’ve done something wrong, they should be the one that has to provide evidence and provide all the paperwork not you. That’s like the police rolling up to your house and you’re guilty and I need you to tell us what crime you did because we’re not gonna investigate I want you to present me all your crimes.
Your business IS their business. Even here in 'murica once the IRS decides they have a reason to look into you, you have no privacy. Their authority effectively supercedes constitutional protections, in the "land of the free".
The last game was great. You should have Starmer in charge of your govt, think yourself lucky, he's throwing people in jail here, for shouty-hurty facebook words.
Hi Klaus and the comment section! I am having a fantastic day, it is friday and the weather is nice. Your conversation about CERB is the whole reason I did not apply to make payments. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help". -yea, right.
