WHY DOES WWE SMACKDOWN FEEL BORING AND REPETITIVE? 

RAW is the brand with the more interesting stories: Liv, Dom and Rhea, Punk, Drew and Seth. That’s what SmackDown is lacking in my opinion

The Bloodline story is the only thing Triple H seems to care about on SD. They constantly make this the priority every week and so much of the SD roster just doesn’t get featured. If you aren’t part of the bloodline then you don’t get anything special to do. Everything just feels centered around them.

I don't blame the talent. It's the writing. Raw it feels they got more to play with than Smackdown does.

The Bloodline story has run its course. I get the long-term storytelling, but they should know when to let the story end.

This SmackDown was meh. Let's just get to SummerSlam already.

The Night Roman Lost Is When Everything Changed🤷🏾‍♂️

SmackDown dipped in quality ever since WrestleMania 40. The Tag Division and Women’s Division has been in shambles. Cody’s booking has been meh, Too many wrestlers getting on TV I genuinely don’t care about.

Been saying this for a while now. At this stage, the bloodline content is just so skippable. Sikoa neither likeable enough or hateable enough to carry it further. He’s not quite top tier heel calibre yet and hasn’t really earned his stripes as a main card superstar to merit being the first and/or last guy you see on the programme - every. single. week. It needs to go away for a while so it can feel fresh and interesting again. And it’s stifling other talent who could be given time to shine in the main event slots. It’s Fatu fatigue. (And let’s not pretend that Sami Zayn wasn’t the best part of the whole thing and carried it for long stretches.)

The only Smackdown stiry that is interesting me is Bayley/Nia/Tiffy.

I agree. That’s why I was saying, is Cody getting beat down this week. It seems to be the same every week lately. I also feel they are making their top champion a bit weak by not getting over on Solo at least once. It’s just me.

I've been skipped 3 Smackdowns lately and I haven't even noticed😂

SmackDown’s mid-card compared to Raw’s mid-card is so inferior it doesn't make sense. I get Raw is an extra hour, but do they really need 20 plus more wrestlers on Raw? No, they don't. My thing would be to take some people from Raw and trade them to SmackDown, as well as call some people up from NXT to fill the gap that SmackDown is missing. With a good to strong mid-card, SmackDown can Rival Raw.

After Wrestlemania it has been hard to give a shit anymore. WWE need more heels.

I'll sum this up very quick. Cody, Kevin, Randy, vs the entire bloodline. All those wrestlers involved in the same storyline. Instead of getting three separate storylines with Cody, Kevin, and Randy we instead get one. That is the problem with why smackdown is floundering. They've put so many eggs into one basket that it is causing smackdown to push up storylines that have no business garnering this much attention and those storylines are ass honestly.

I get predictability is fine in wwe, but it feels like Cody's title isn't under threat until either the rock or roman challenges him, thats making me really not care about that title anymore, much more into whats going on at raw

I agree on this. I just watch Smackdown highlights and have been for weeks now. I think everyone is waiting for Roman and we're all bored by Cody and his promos. Cody as champions reminds me so much of Hulk Hogan and the 3-4 years before the NWO, just boring. It feels like the whole focus has been on RAW and Smackdown is the red-headed step-child.

Raw is just fun and smackdown is average, its not ass we are just not use to wwe being average now. I think smackdown will pick up especially after roman returns but id just say smackdown has been okay when the other wwe shows have been very good.

Someone gets put through the same announce table almost every single week on Smackdown and the commentators are just like oh my God through the damn table!!! As if it’s never been done before. Stories and format have also become extremely repetitive

I think the problem is the talent just isn't used. They're way too focused on making the bloodline look good rather than making stories with the talent they have. Even when roman returns it still doesn't fix the problem at all cause they'll just double down on the bloodline stuff and not care about the rest of the roster even more. Poor Cody is being booked so weak and he's getting the blame rather than the writing getting blamed. I've said it for years that smackdown should have multiple stories rather than one sole story.

Stuff is also dropped with hhh..what happened to hurt business reunion teases?

I feel like at this point, especially since Raw will be moving to Netflix in 2025, SmackDown needs to be 3 hours. So that more stories can be told, and more wrestlers on SmackDown can have TV time, and chances to develop their characters

I actually was thinking this yesterday. Raw is so much better. I think the constant commercial breaks hurt. I also think the Bloodline is getting stale.

With the Smackdown roster I feel as though Hunter as the COO/booker here doesnt care about Smackdown. Hell the Raw tag titles have gotten more PLE and builds over its SD counterparts. The DIY vs A-Town Down Under should have been on a PLE but no its a TV tag title now so is the Womens tag titles and womens championship. I know Paul can book better but i honestly believe he doesnt care and seems to purposefully killing the SD brand post Mania.

I feel like smackdown is still a good show but we are just spoiled by the amazing raws

This week was certainly filler, but I do blame that on that it was filmed last week. However, the lack of immediacy needed to watch Smackdown is certainly real. Once it’s back on USA, I’m hoping it’ll be more exciting.

The Bloodline story over stayed it’s welcome. I feel like it ended at Wrestlemania, but instead it got extended.

This is where your champ comes in........A good champ can carry a show. Example, Roman would make an impact throughout the show. He would be there at the start, end, and in between....... His aura and charisma shaped the storylines. SD pretty much has the same ppl who were here when Roman was champ, but they are suddenly, magically less interesting............... In short? Cody aint it......never was, never will be......Was given a title due to his name.

Wrestling is so subjective that it's tough to say that Smackdown is boring. There are SUPER entertaining segments on Smackdown, and RAW, but the stories are progressing sooooo slowly. DREW and CM PUNK are killing it, Liv-Dom-Rhea is intriguing, the Bloodline is okay, and everything else is missable - in my opinion. OH.. except for the Wyatts. They are SUPER fun and creepy, but I am worried about what happens when the actual matches happen.

This is a great breakdown of what I’ve been watching too. I was a huge fan growing up in mid 2000s and got back into it after XL videos went crazy. I never thought I would, but AEW has been my only appointment television for wrestling. WWE’s two hottest factions (bloodline and Wyatt), literally don’t wrestle. Solo lost like 60 straight matches, they are incredibly lucky to sign Fatu. He’s the only legitimate in ring talent of the Bloodline barring Roman. Solo, the twins and the Usos are soooo mediocre.

Pretty spot on. Smackdown was the better show for a long while but definitely lost momentum and stories are not fired up. Women's tag stories has not been good for a long time and they don't get much time.

I 100% agree with you Assemble! Smackdown is just boring for me because it’s the same thing every week where with raw it’s all these different storylines and involves a lot of different people (punk, drew, Seth) (judgment day, Gunther, liv Morgan)

Believe me its not about the 2 or 3 hours … triple h really didnt give the blue brand much to survive not to mention the shitty draft he gave us simply yet its getting better

Not saying that Smackdown is 5 stars but I prefer it to three hours of the childishness of Raw. The Liv-Dom-Rhea triangle is childish. I fast forward through all of the Wyatt Sicks appearances since it's geared towards 12 year olds. SOlo is ok but they should have made one of the Usos into the new (temporary) tribal chief.

Triple H needs to start farming out these story lines because it’s gotten ridiculous. There are so many superstars who are pretty much forgotten like Nakamora. They keep randomly throwing in Randy Orton into storylines and random tag teams. Cody Rhodes needs to wrestle more, and his reign has been a disaster. His feud with the Bloodline honestly doesn’t make sense post Roman. Bailey is the only ones who is worse. When he can’t figure out what to do he just throws people into tag teams.

I knew that when Cody comes to Smackdown, he will go to Burrink, because Cody is a good person and has no problem with anyone except Bloodline, and that's why we don't see interesting stories, of course, except for a few episodes that aren't really bad, the rest are fifty-fifty. Roman's time was much better, he played the role of a negative character but with charisma and likability very well, and the feuds he had with other wrestlers were really attractive.

It feels like when Roman was champion, Smackdown could’ve been argued to be the “A show” Smackdown felt very interesting but it does feel like now, they’ve done a full 180 & Smackdown feels similar to how I remember it being before Roman was champion Almost like an after thought 🤷🏻‍♂️ Bayleys booking since becoming champion has been terrible, she hasn’t had a story to sink into & the same could be said with Cody… It’s not the wrestlers fault, it’s the booking/writing

I remember 2 weeks ago when they built up Cody Rhodes having a mystery partner only for it to be Kevin Owens which was so obvious that there waa no point in making it a mystery. Honestly both shows have been boring me lately besides a few raw stories. The new Bloodline are badasses in the ring but they all lack the personality to keep themselves interesting. Their best bet is for The Rock to come back from whatever he is doing and reveal that he is the one that's been calling all the shots in the new Bloodline.

It has nothing to do with 2 hours. NXT can still provide interesting and fleshed out storylibe with the 2 hours they had The writing is the real problen. Cody keep doing same atuff everywewo, either he get beatdown or cutting promo calling out his opponent. That's all he does since Wrestlemania. Then there's Logan Paul holding the US belt hostage. This made the midcard didn't have something to fight for and they keep involved in random storyline

They have stories that they have and trying to develop, but it's up to the viewers to find interest in it 🤷🏾‍♂️ i'd rather watch what we have now rather than what we had with Vince. I'm just enjoying the ride. People quickly forget.

Smackdown needs Bron Breakker to spear the ever loving poop out of Cody and Jacob Fatu etc. bark and then leave without explanation. Things like this would make it more interesting. There is also noone on Smackdown that is main event quality bar LA Knight who they've determined is a mid carder, while Raw has Rhea, Liv, Becky, Priest, Seth, Drew, Jey, CM punk, Gunther etc.

I've always been a Monday Night Raw guy. Plus Seth Rollins is on that show, Raw is much more stacked. I enjoy NXT tremendously , as well. Without Roman Reigns it's just meh. I can do without smackdown right now.

Triple H does good long term story telling but there should be like a bunch of small stories going on as well not just hyper focused on the one or two long stories it just makes it very dry and boring show like 95% of the time but then there's that 5% where something kicks off... I normally watch on RU-vid clips unless something big has happened and then I had it DVR'd

I find both boring. SD more so. They both feel like wheel spinning until the next PLE. I don't feel like I miss anything while watching PLEs to PLEs. Raw seems to be getting better. I wish Bloodline went after Damian instead and Drew and Punk did their stuff around Cody. Bloodline story feels like it moves at a snail pace

It was a rumor going around that it was recorded anyway, but yeah, it was boring

I skip whole sections on Smackdown. With certain matches I just skip to the end to see the finish and then move on. Not always but definitely an increasing amount lately. I like the new iteration of the Bloodline but I thought it was more interesting when they weren't interacting with Cody. We saw Cody vs the Bloodline all the way up to WM40, as well as up to WM39. I'm a bit bored of it now. Keep Cody away from the Bloodline until the Rock comes back - I don't even think that Cody should have the championship at that point. This way, Cody and the New Bloodline gets to explore different stories with different people, rather than repeaeting the same story for a third year in a row.

Smackdown is great I find myself fast forwarding RAW through the Alpha Academy & The Wyatt segments. I do agree the Cody run is predictable.

Yesterday was the first show I've missed since April. 8 O'clock came around and I put on Smackdown. I had even avoided spoilers all week since it was pre-taped and then it started and after a few minutes I began to realize I just could not bring myself to care about anything slated for the night, so I turned it off, looked up the spoilers (which after reading confirmed to me I made the right choice), and played some video games instead. The only storyline on Smackdown I had any investment in was this Temu version of the Bloodline after they attacked Paul Heyman, but with week after week after week of this formulaic booking of them my heat for them has quickly turned back into the "go away heat" I had for them basically since the draft. Wrestling, at least how I enjoy it, is a variety show and Smackdown has lacked any variety to keep me interested beyond seeing recaps.

I think a third hour is just inevitable. It won’t immediately fix things but it will allow for more development outside of the Bloodline that will eventually get the show to a better spot

I honestly think they’re doing it on purpose 🤷🏾‍♂️ when the draft happened I thought all the top storylines like bloodline Cody aj melo La etc would over shadow raw. But raw Built up guys like Bron Damien & the surprise of Seth and punk returning from injury. Raw is cooking but Smackdown will catch up to speed once the Roman rock angle happens & the women’s division is very solid on SD too .. & LA becoming us champ soon so don’t sleep .. smackdown is a long term story show .. slow burn

I believe the reason Smackdown has been so boring is because of the writing of the talent. An example, Cody Rhodes , Bayley, the whole women's tag division on Smackdown etc. The writing of Cody is just odd and they making him look weak for him to be the WWE Champion. His character looks like he's helpless and hasn't learned from his recent experience. Just look at his promo, he said, he wants a face to face, one on one confrontation with Solo when he knows it's not. It makes him look weak and that's not a good thing. Bayley is another example. Ever since she's been champ, she's been booked weird and her character is kinda just there. Not because of her, it's because of the writing. These bloodline attacks are very repetitive and it leads to the person being attacked, look weak. The tag division for the women is mid ngl. I sometimes forget that there's women's tag belts and same goes with the tag teams for the men. I sometimes forget Pretty Deadly, The OC, and the rest are even on smackdown. All smackdown needs is what it's always been known for since the RA Era and that's the Wrestling and Wrestling driven stories and the rise of new characters. But, we all know they waiting on Roman to come back and then that's when smackdown will pick up.

I don't see why the Women's tag team titles are still a thing. The writers still didn't make any effort to build a divison like the men have, the Champions have no contenders for the titles besides 1. Chance & Carter and 2. Belair & Cargill. Smackdown is centered all on the Bloodline, Raw is doing a better job if you only look at the storytelling.

Merge the tag team belts and make smackdown the home of a hardcore tag team division. AEW 's tag team division is no longer a standout (coming from an aew fan), so theres a real opportunity to capture that audience looking for a more serious focus on tag team wrestliing

Its Cody... Roman Was 1000x better and the worst part is he wasn't even there majority of the time but everything he touched in that run was amazing

I like both shows but I feel like both of them, with all the major storylines it’s just the same story beat for that month over and over until the ppv and then it goes to the next story beat rinse and repeat til the next. And then the big shifts and endpoints are at the big 4-5 shows. Every thing is good, but it’s sort of monotonous

The Bloodline 2.0 is boring to me. Cody doesn’t really have a real threat right now. And they are pushing Nia and I’m not a fan of her matches.

I watch both AEW and WWE what I find disturbing about WWE is how much they’ve robbed fans of wrestling. They have Seth who can put on 5 ⭐️ matches they have Cody Rhodes who doesn’t mind the hardcore stuff they have Gunther who is a great performer but they do not use them instead wait for Roman and shell out filler episodes. Say what you want about AEW but they put on great matches regardless of how good or bad there storyline’s are.

The shows are unbalanced. There's too many of one type on one show, not enough on the other. Also, more stars have returned to Raw recently, and there are still a lot of people out on Smackdown (or people have been released/contracts expired). Creative hasn't been doing enough coherent storylines for Smackdown lately. And honestly, it's time to get rid of the Bloodline.

It has been a bit dull in the Summerslam build but I think this past episode fell flat a little cause they didnt go to Japan and have more involvement of Cody. The whole reason they didnt take Smackdown to Japan was becuase of Logan so I blame him haha.

It's the bloodline stuff this shoulda been over with at wrestlemania but they keep stretching this putting all their chips into this storyline when it overshadows anybody involved in it

WWE Smackdown should not go to 3 hours. Ring of honor is 2 hours and I never watch it weekly. But when ROH was 1 hour I'd watch it weekly religiously.
