Zamioculcas is an unpretentious plant for many gardeners. The main thing in his care is a lot of light and a properly built hydration regimen. But sometimes even experienced flower growers face a problem - yellowing of leaves.
The most common cause of yellowing of Zamioculcas leaves is excess moisture.
Watering should be done only when the soil in the pot is completely dry. First, zamiokulkas will not be able to absorb more moisture than necessary. And secondly, its roots extending from the tubers are tender and rot quickly. The rotting process causes yellow signals on the leaves. If the leaves have just started to turn yellow, it is enough to adjust the watering. It is necessary to loosen the soil in the pot and let it dry well. Let the plant stay dry for a while and only then water it.
Good soil composition and moderate watering will ensure plant health. But when the amount of water for one irrigation is incorrectly calculated and the drainage system does not remove excess liquid from the soil, the plant begins to "cry". It looks like drops of moisture on the leaves. This phenomenon is called guttation. Thus, Zamioculcas removes excess liquid through special glands on the leaves - hydathodes. If this process is not answered, the next step will be the yellowing and drying of the entire branches of the plant. After you find the "tears" of Zamioculcas, you should stop watering it for 2-3 weeks, and then moisten it with less water.
If the care of the dollar tree is arranged in accordance with all the requirements and the plant continues to turn yellow, pay attention to the leaves. Or rather the pests that can live there. Parasites suck the juice from the leaves and stems of the plant. This disrupts the most important process - photosynthesis, due to which the greenery acquires color. When photosynthesis is disturbed, the leaf plate becomes discolored, turning yellow, pale green or white.
The first thing you need to do is wash the green part of the plant under a warm shower. The second step will be the treatment with neem oil. After a few days, you can additionally disinfect the plant with an insecticide.
All plant disease processes can be divided into two foci - fungi and bacteria. The reasons for their appearance, as well as the methods of combat, are different. But the result is the same: leaves turn yellow, branches die, plant growth stops.
Zamioculcas most often appear:
Anthracnose. It is characterized by yellow-orange spots with a black border on the surfaces of the leaves and stems. Treatment with copper sulfate, colloidal sulfur
phytosporin
will save the plant.
Powdery mildew. Its signs are white or gray powdery spots on the leaves that cause them to lighten and dry quickly. The flower can be treated with copper sulfate solution and phytosporin.
Sooty mushroom. It is dangerous with a dry sooty film that covers the stomata on the leaves, forcing them to literally "suffocate" and dry out. The appearance of this fungus is the result of the vital activity of aphids, mealybugs or whiteflies. Before fighting the fungus, it is important to get rid of the pests and remove their secretion, on which the sooty fungus appears. After that, the flower should be treated with Fitosporin.
Rot is a bacterial disease. A favorable environment for the development of bacteria is high soil moisture. The correct mode of watering the dollar tree will guarantee its health.
Rot is manifested by the yellowing of leaves and the appearance of brown spots on them. Stems may also darken at the base of the trunk or along the entire length. The plant is literally dying before our eyes and it is necessary to react immediately upon discovering the first signs.
The only solution is resuscitation:
You need to remove the plant from the pot, carefully examine its tuber for rotting. Rotten roots are removed with a sharp knife.
Slices are treated with Kornevin for quick recovery.
Kornevin is used for root rot and when cutting roots because it encourages quick recovery and root growth. You can soak the root in a solution of root and water, then sprinkle with powdered root and plant.
The flower is transplanted into a new pot with dry, unused soil.
After transplanting, the flower is not watered for 3-4 weeks.
The slow growth of the dollar tree contributes to the gradual aging of the shoots. The twigs can remain on the flower for more than two years, and then just dry up. And often the withering of such old branches is perceived as a problem or a disease. A dollar tree naturally turns yellow with no more than 5% of its total green mass. And only if this figure is higher, you can start to worry.
You should also pay attention to the frequent dropping and yellowing of the branches and start watching it more carefully. Usually, such discharge occurs during the plant's rest period - in winter. But even in the active phase of growth, the flower can discard old branches. In this case, it will not be superfluous to feed the plant.
