I think it’s weird that these books were accepted as canon until over a thousand years later man decided for them not to be.

If Enoch was read. We may not have built a digital prison around us. Ignorance is futile. I'll tell you though like a woman in labor the falling away gives me hope. Not for me my life, love, American dreams, future whatever don't care. My spirit is everything. If I can't toil. The. Don't try to feed me bugs. If I can't drive... Well I'm not to blame for the suffering of the ones I cherish. If I can't defend my neighbors well then let the blood be one thing cops, or people with there 2A.. 2024. If I can't do right claim it on the medical industry that chraed my government way more then my tax to welfare ratio. Oh God they hate that.

I think you misunderstood the video. The Apocryphal(deuterocanonical) books were not considered to be a part of the canon. They were considered useful to be read, but not inspired by God as the canon of Scripture was.

@alexfoltz4379 there were several church councils that considered some of them canon. The Council of Carthage in 397 AD decided on a canon, and it's still the canon the Catholic Church accepts to this day.

The fact they were read in the liturgy tells you the early church regarded theses text as scripture. It isn’t up to one man or a group of men to decide what is inspired but the Church decide at the Council of Carthage

Agreed. The works of the Apocrypha are a lovely accompaniment, if not still a part, of the Bible. I worry that any part of the Bible was subtracted by men. We all must pray for discernment.
@bidensaidthenwordwithahard4838
The apocrypha is inaccurate though, almost as inaccurate as the nag Hammadi gnostic texts. Whilst the dead sea scrolls and the book of Enoch are 100% accurate and validate old testament + new testament Bible and even originating from the places where the original enscriptions of the Bible existed. Both apocrypha dead sea scrolls+Ethiopian Bible are considered noncanonical for different reasons. The apocrypha = a fantastical work of fiction with 0 historical validity in its accounts. kind of like the Qur'an. Book of Enoch+Dead sea scrolls = canon scripture removed by the Jews because they spoke too plainly about the coming Messiah "the son of man"

It's not uncommon among Biblical scholars to think of the bible of an open canon at least until the Reformation. People in different places would value different scriptures, and while there was some agreement regarding the core of the New Testament even in antiquity, certain books of the Bible, like Revelations, have always been contested, and others outside our Biblical canon were frequently used among early Christians and are culturally influential to this day. For example, the idea of a shoulder angel and shoulder demon that can be found in many comic books can be traced back to the Shepherd of Hermas, one of the most prominent non-canonical writings which sometimes even was written on the same scrolls as Biblical texts. It's certainly apt to pray for discernment, but not just because of the fragile nature of the biblical corpus, but generally because it isn't a trivial task to find Godly meaning in words written by humans.

Having dug into the history of this, having not grown Catholic nor Orthodox and up until 12 years ago, knew nothing about the "Apocrypha" (aka Deutercanonicals), let me share this. 1. If one reads the oldest Christian writings we have that date from FIRST to end of THIRD century AD, which are called the Ante Nicene Fathers, one would see that their writings quote them quite a bit, without distinction in their integrity of truth. Some even treat them as scripture. It is not until you get closer to the 4th century AD into the 5th where Jerome makes the delineation and APPLIES the Greek word from which we get APOCRYPHA (hidden) to the books that his buddies, the unbelieving Jews who taught him Hebrew, did not AT THAT TIME (no longer) in their CANON, and so Jerome being told they never had them in the Jewish Canon believes it and therefore having been put in charge by Pope Damisus to create a universal (Catholic) Roman-language (Latin) bible that would become known as the Latin Vulgate, delineated them but included them in there. This separation and special category in the early 5th century AD was an innovation. This has had a long standing DEEP impression in Catholics and Protestants. 2. Now let's talk about how the Apocrypha escaped the Protestant bible tradition. Well the 1611 KJV has the Apocrypha, but somewhere around 1840s, some Protestant missionaries wanted a LIGHT WEIGHT BIBLE to get printed and used for overseas missions, and so, due to the negative opinions of Martin Luther toward the Apocrypha, Protestants had by this time, 3 centuries later, not really been using them... SO what did they do for the LIGHT WEIGHT BIBLE that would be sort of like a TRACT? They thought it brilliant to remove them, print tons of copies for overseas missions, and this event in early 1800s has stuck in Protestant churches, and so fast forward to our day, Protestants have not had a bible with the Apocrypha since the 1800s AD, and so 98% of Protestants have no idea this history and so they see the Catholic ERRORS and their bible having the Apocrypha, so they ASSUME that the erros must be related to the Apocrypha, even though they have never read these amazing books. 3. I am appalled at a lot false information by Evangelical scholars about these books. I don't doubt their sincerity, just their effort at getting to the objective facts and not just relying on subjective opinions in Bible dictionaries and Encyclopedia, but to go the PRIMARY sources themselves in church history.

You quite literally made the case for why it’s not cannon. It’s not cannon nor inspired by God. Therefore, it shouldn’t be in the Bible. It’s like Catholics praying to saints and ending it with Amen. It’s Idolatry. Just pray straight to God. Mary was just a woman and is dead. God is forever living.

Luther had a generally positive view of these intertestamental writings. He included them in his German translation of the bible. He found them helpful for the purpose of illustration but not suitable for establishing doctrine. Luther was not an innovator on this point. Even his examiner at Worms, Cardinal Cajetan, held this view. Yes, there's a lot of misunderstanding and shallow work among non-scholars in this area,...among both Protestants AND Catholics. Meade and Gurry do a great job though.

This is just one chapter of one of the books in the apocrypha, they took the books out for a reason. All main religion is false. 1 Maccabees 1:1 And it happened, after that Alexander son of Philip, the Macedonian, who came out of the land of Chettiim, had smitten Darius king of the Persians and Medes, that he reigned in his stead, the first over Greece, 1 Maccabees 1:2 And made many wars, and won many strong holds, and slew the kings of the earth, 1 Maccabees 1:3 And went through to the ends of the earth, and took spoils of many nations, insomuch that the earth was quiet before him; whereupon he was exalted and his heart was lifted up. 1 Maccabees 1:4 And he gathered a mighty strong host and ruled over countries, and nations, and kings, who became tributaries unto him. 1 Maccabees 1:5 And after these things he fell sick, and perceived that he should die. 1 Maccabees 1:6 Wherefore he called his servants, such as were honourable, and had been brought up with him from his youth, and parted his kingdom among them, while he was yet alive. 1 Maccabees 1:7 So Alexander reigned twelves years, and then died. 1 Maccabees 1:8 And his servants bare rule every one in his place. 1 Maccabees 1:9 And after his death they all put crowns upon themselves; so did their sons after them many years: and evils were multiplied in the earth. 1 Maccabees 1:10 And there came out of them a wicked root Antiochus surnamed Epiphanes, son of Antiochus the king, who had been an hostage at Rome, and he reigned in the hundred and thirty and seventh year of the kingdom of the Greeks. 1 Maccabees 1:11 In those days went there out of Israel wicked men, who persuaded many, saying, Let us go and make a covenant with the heathen that are round about us: for since we departed from them we have had much sorrow. 1 Maccabees 1:12 So this device pleased them well. 1 Maccabees 1:13 Then certain of the people were so forward herein, that they went to the king, who gave them licence to do after the ordinances of the heathen: 1 Maccabees 1:14 Whereupon they built a place of exercise at Jerusalem according to the customs of the heathen: 1 Maccabees 1:15 And made themselves uncircumcised, and forsook the holy covenant, and joined themselves to the heathen, and were sold to do mischief. 1 Maccabees 1:16 Now when the kingdom was established before Antiochus, he thought to reign over Egypt that he might have the dominion of two realms. 1 Maccabees 1:17 Wherefore he entered into Egypt with a great multitude, with chariots, and elephants, and horsemen, and a great navy, 1 Maccabees 1:18 And made war against Ptolemee king of Egypt: but Ptolemee was afraid of him, and fled; and many were wounded to death. 1 Maccabees 1:19 Thus they got the strong cities in the land of Egypt and he took the spoils thereof. 1 Maccabees 1:20 And after that Antiochus had smitten Egypt, he returned again in the hundred forty and third year, and went up against Israel and Jerusalem with a great multitude, 1 Maccabees 1:21 And entered proudly into the sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof, 1 Maccabees 1:22 And the table of the shewbread, and the pouring vessels, and the vials. and the censers of gold, and the veil, and the crown, and the golden ornaments that were before the temple, all which he pulled off. 1 Maccabees 1:23 He took also the silver and the gold, and the precious vessels: also he took the hidden treasures which he found. 1 Maccabees 1:24 And when he had taken all away, he went into his own land, having made a great massacre, and spoken very proudly. 1 Maccabees 1:25 Therefore there was a great mourning in Israel, in every place where they were; 1 Maccabees 1:26 So that the princes and elders mourned, the virgins and young men were made feeble, and the beauty of women was changed. 1 Maccabees 1:27 Every bridegroom took up lamentation, and she that sat in the marriage chamber was in heaviness, 1 Maccabees 1:28 The land also was moved for the inhabitants thereof, and all the house of Jacob was covered with confusion. 1 Maccabees 1:29 And after two years fully expired the king sent his chief collector of tribute unto the cities of Juda, who came unto Jerusalem with a great multitude, 1 Maccabees 1:30 And spake peaceable words unto them, but all was deceit: for when they had given him credence, he fell suddenly upon the city, and smote it very sore, and destroyed much people of Israel. 1 Maccabees 1:31 And when he had taken the spoils of the city, he set it on fire, and pulled down the houses and walls thereof on every side. 1 Maccabees 1:32 But the women and children took they captive, and possessed the cattle. 1 Maccabees 1:33 Then builded they the city of David with a great and strong wall, and with mighty towers, and made it a strong hold for them. 1 Maccabees 1:34 And they put therein a sinful nation, wicked men, and fortified themselves therein. 1 Maccabees 1:35 They stored it also with armour and victuals, and when they had gathered together the spoils of Jerusalem, they laid them up there, and so they became a sore snare: 1 Maccabees 1:36 For it was a place to lie in wait against the sanctuary, and an evil adversary to Israel. 1 Maccabees 1:37 Thus they shed innocent blood on every side of the sanctuary, and defiled it: 1 Maccabees 1:38 Insomuch that the inhabitants of Jerusalem fled because of them: whereupon the city was made an habitation of strangers, and became strange to those that were born in her; and her own children left her. 1 Maccabees 1:39 Her sanctuary was laid waste like a wilderness, her feasts were turned into mourning, her sabbaths into reproach her honour into contempt. 1 Maccabees 1:40 As had been her glory, so was her dishonour increased, and her excellency was turned into mourning. 1 Maccabees 1:41 Moreover king Antiochus wrote to his whole kingdom, that all should be one people, 1 Maccabees 1:42 And every one should leave his laws: so all the heathen agreed according to the commandment of the king. 1 Maccabees 1:43 Yea, many also of the Israelites consented to his religion, and sacrificed unto idols, and profaned the sabbath. 1 Maccabees 1:44 For the king had sent letters by messengers unto Jerusalem and the cities of Juda that they should follow the strange laws of the land, 1 Maccabees 1:45 And forbid burnt offerings, and sacrifice, and drink offerings, in the temple; and that they should profane the sabbaths and festival days: 1 Maccabees 1:46 And pollute the sanctuary and holy people: 1 Maccabees 1:47 Set up altars, and groves, and chapels of idols, and sacrifice swine's flesh, and unclean beasts: 1 Maccabees 1:48 That they should also leave their children uncircumcised, and make their souls abominable with all manner of uncleanness and profanation: 1 Maccabees 1:49 To the end they might forget the law, and change all the ordinances. 1 Maccabees 1:50 And whosoever would not do according to the commandment of the king, he said, he should die. 1 Maccabees 1:51 In the selfsame manner wrote he to his whole kingdom, and appointed overseers over all the people, commanding the cities of Juda to sacrifice, city by city. 1 Maccabees 1:52 Then many of the people were gathered unto them, to wit every one that forsook the law; and so they committed evils in the land; 1 Maccabees 1:53 And drove the Israelites into secret places, even wheresoever they could flee for succour. 1 Maccabees 1:54 Now the fifteenth day of the month Casleu, in the hundred forty and fifth year, they set up the abomination of desolation upon the altar, and builded idol altars throughout the cities of Juda on every side; 1 Maccabees 1:55 And burnt incense at the doors of their houses, and in the streets. 1 Maccabees 1:56 And when they had rent in pieces the books of the law which they found, they burnt them with fire. 1 Maccabees 1:57 And whosoever was found with any the book of the testament, or if any committed to the law, the king's commandment was, that they should put him to death. 1 Maccabees 1:58 Thus did they by their authority unto the Israelites every month, to as many as were found in the cities. 1 Maccabees 1:59 Now the five and twentieth day of the month they did sacrifice upon the idol altar, which was upon the altar of God. 1 Maccabees 1:60 At which time according to the commandment they put to death certain women, that had caused their children to be circumcised. 1 Maccabees 1:61 And they hanged the infants about their necks, and rifled their houses, and slew them that had circumcised them. 1 Maccabees 1:62 Howbeit many in Israel were fully resolved and confirmed in themselves not to eat any unclean thing. 1 Maccabees 1:63 Wherefore the rather to die, that they might not be defiled with meats, and that they might not profane the holy covenant: so then they died. 1 Maccabees 1:64 And there was very great wrath upon Israel.

Same goes for the Epistle of Barnabas, Shepard of Hermas. 4 Maccabees is just a commentary so it can be taken with a grain of salt. 2 Esdras is Apocrypha being a Pseudopigraphal work written after 70 AD and credited to Ezra hundreds of years after he died & the first two and last two chapters were added by Christian authors hundreds of years later.

Does the subtraction of them take away the main message about our salvation and how we are to be saved? Just wondering. Are they vital?

I say that we should follow the canon used before the Reformation. The Christians of the 3rd and 4th centuries knew a lot more than those of the 16th and 17th centuries.

The problem is that there were two major traditions of use before the Reformation, not just one as you imply. They are sometimes represented by Jerome who advocated for a shorter canon and Augustine who included the deuterocanonical books without making a distinction between them and the old testament. The councils of North Africa (Carthage) sided with Augustine who was from Hippo, but there were earlier canon lists even before Jerome that made a distinction between the Deuterocanon and the Hebrew scriptures. Numerous church fathers held a similar canon to Jerome, including Cyril and Gregory Nazianzus. The "removal" of these texts did not happen at the Reformation. Luther included them in his German translation and called them useful but not suitable for establishing doctrine, like Jerome.

@@JamesMcCormack-pn5rn for instance they say that the apocrypha is none canonical, if you do some research. You will find that Catholics believe in 73 books, which include 7 books of the apocrypha. The Christian Bible has 66 books which doesn't include the apocrypha. Then take into account that before the 1900's all books was included meaning the old an new testament as we know today whether it be 66 or 73 before the 1900s just clarify it had all the books in the 1611 king James an prior to that. @@JamesMcCormack-pn5rn2 Maccabees 14:41-42 promotes suicide and some scriptures in the book of Thomas urges women to become men in order to inherit the kingdom of Heaven. This is blasphemy and can NEVER be inspired by God. It may be good literature but isn't inspired by GOD. Hence why it was removed.

1 Maccabees 1:52 Then many of the people were gathered unto them, to wit every one that forsook the law; Not every writing is inspired scripture. For example, in the Gospel of Thomas it says, “(114) Simon Peter said to him, "Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life." Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven." Do you really think Jesus would say something like that? There’s a reason these books were not allowed. Do you think God will not let mortal man pervert His message? The Bible is exactly the way it should be and continues to save souls like me, regardless of the Apocryphal books. God knows what He’s doing.

They’re mostly Catholics and Orthodox who use the Deuterocanon, so it’s not surprising. Protestants have nothing but contempt for Apostolic Christians.

Casually saying "they weren't inspired" is one of the saddest arguments I all too often hear. Removing these books was a rogue move from Martin Luther who also wanted to remove James, and Revelation (among others). The case for removing these books holds zero water against any earnest critical scrutiny.

and that they should profane the sabbaths and festival days: 1 Maccabees 1:46 And pollute the sanctuary and holy people: 1 Maccabees 1:47 Set up altars, and groves, and chapels of idols, and sacrifice swine's flesh, and unclean beasts: 1 Maccabees 1:48 That they should also leave their children uncircumcised, and make their souls abominable with all manner of uncleanness and profanation: 1 Maccabees 1:49 To the end they might forget the law, and change all the ordinances.

Yes it was NOT inspired by God. There is no way God would promote suicide and there is no way Jesus would say that he would make women become men in order for them to enter the kingdom of heaven. This is blasphemy and cannot never be inspired by God. You can see these false "scriptures" in the gospel of Thomas and 2nd Maccabees. Both in the apocrypha. It may be good literature but it is not inspired by God at all. Shalom.

1 Maccabees 1:37 Thus they shed innocent blood on every side of the sanctuary, and defiled it: 1 Maccabees 1:38 Insomuch that the inhabitants of Jerusalem fled because of them: whereupon the city was made an habitation of strangers, and became strange to those that were born in her; And how do we know which books the Holy Spirit has inspired for Christians to read? Because a consensus of the Church has accepted them as fitting to read in worship.

The church broadly, throughout its history has not regarded the apocrypha as inspired, though it has regarded it as useful. There are some post-Trent Roman Catholics and some Eastern Orthodox churches that have considered it equal to the rest of scripture but most have considered it helpful, but not at the same level as the rest of scripture and thus not inspired.

How can the word of God contradict itself? 1 John 1:7 says “the blood of Christ cleanses all sins.” Tobit a book you argue is the word of God says in Tobit 12:9, “almsgiving saves one from death and expedites every sin.” What’s up with that? Catholics do not like and do not preach 1 John 1:7 but more about works like Tobit 12:9. Also a contradiction to that so called “word of God” is Ephesians 2:8-9 “we are saved by Grace through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast.” That’s another contradiction to Tobit 12:9. So either the scripture is contradicting itself and you are fueling arguments for atheists and Muslims yet the Catholic Church says Muslims can go to heaven too (As a Muslim). Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me” John 14:6. So who is lying Jesus or the Catholic (Universal) Church? Both can’t be correct. And since Jesus is God. John 1:1,14. Jesus can not be wrong. God can not be wrong. So please answer this contradiction. Thank you. Repent and trust in Jesus

300 AD is a LONG time after Christ Death, a LONG time after the time of the apostles .. it’s very easy for man made traditions to have already seeped in so I’m not sure why we go back to that “oh the church fathers from 300ad thought they were scripture so we should too” as if they couldn’t have been fallible in this area and added man made tradition. I’m not saying they are or aren’t as I’m still studying them, it’s just a weak argument. Something can be useful like this guy says, without being scripture- God’s inspired word!

The question is "what spirit inspired the writing of these books?" Cause it's definitely not the holy spirit and the holy spirit will only lead anyone to the bible so if anyone's lead to study such books and the mason/satanists books in general, that's not the holy spirit leading them

Thank you. Finally a comment that is spirit led. God doesnt need our help. Those books were removed because they were not inspired by God. Some of its false scriptures promote that women should become men and also glorifies suicide. It cannot never be inspired by God.

Because when the byzantine empire also treated the church, causing the great schism protestants from that point on rejected anything to do with what the original apostles were teaching. The Apocrypha books show a glimpse of early life Christians, and what they believed during the time of the apostles.

I think the reformation brought a more look at doctrine as such and saw that as important for the building of the church. The other books were still useful but couldn't bring the church to the maturity that's needed.

Most Christians do use the "Apocrypha". Using the Apocrypha as Scripture is something Christians have been doing from the beginning. Polycarp and Ignatius, disciples of the Apostle John, quoted these books as Scripture in their second-century A.D. writings. And every church today that traces its history back to the first millennium still uses them as canonical Scripture. This video only tells us why some Christians in Western Europe, in the 16th century decided suddenly to stop using them as Scripture.

Except that there's no scriptural evidence that Jesus, the disciples, or the apostles, ever quoted the Apocrypha. And since it was written between Malachi and Matthew, a period of about 400 years, no one before Malachi would have been able to quote it since it didn't exist yet

Reading the books of the New Testament, we perhaps asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years? The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist. Find *"The Mystery about the Church of Christ"* video on RU-vid. The video reveals the prophecy of the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the End of the World. Watching this video will give hope to all who sincerely seek God and will interest those who are not too lazy to think freely. No that is incorrect. The Church of Scotland didn’t want those books in the Bible because they were having issues with the congregation nation wide. It had nothing to do with the printing press. More to do with the fact of all the cross references in the Bible and people thinking they should go to the Catholic Church. Luther had those books and Calvin had those books in their Bible.

It's really not that hard to understand. The etymology pretty much explains it: "deuterocanonical" means "2nd canon" Armchair theologians have this binary view of Holy Scripture: "In" or "Out". The scholarly view is more nuanced. Even amongst the canonical books, there was a hierarchy. (e.g. Torah is gold standard; Song of Solomon is a bronze) What is now derided as the Apocrypha is actually "bronze medal" Holy Scripture. Protestants essentially "picked a fight" that had been settled for over one thousand years among Christians, just trying to create a (false) representation that Roman Catholicism had "corrupted" Scripture. In that regard, they ironically mirror arguments of 2nd and 3rd century rabbinical Judaism and later Islamic thought. So they are in "good company", just not for Christians. LOL

Orthodox Christian’s do. “Christian” refers to a vast group of different ideologies. Even shortly after Christ’s time there were hundreds and it’s only expanded sense. It was the Roman’s that aligned the sects in their time and made it their state religion and it’s only diverged sense then. So some do in fact include apocrypha

Here’s a verse from Ecclesiasticus (Sirach): “The word of God on high is the fountain of wisdom, and her ways are everlasting commandments. To whom hath the root of wisdom been revealed, and who hath known her wise counsels? To whom hath the discipline of wisdom been revealed and made manifest? and who hath understood the multiplicity of her steps? There is one most high Creator Almighty, and a powerful king, and greatly to be feared, who sitteth upon his throne, and is the God of dominion. He created her in the Holy Ghost, and saw her, and numbered her, and measured her.” ‭‭Ecclesiasticus (Sirach)‬ ‭1:5-9‬ ‭ Here the Holy Spirit is mentioned.. in the old Testsment! How could anyone speak against Gods word when Jesus himself referenced these seven books.

The Apocrypha is not the inspired word of God. It includes a lot of counter-Biblical things, such as paying alms for the forgiveness of sins, praying for the forgiveness of sins of dead people, the dead actually praying to God, etc. Jesus also never once referenced the Apocrypha even though he referenced all the other canon. The Apocrypha, therefore, in my opinion is the work of the Devil trying to confuse God's word in the hearts of His people.

The Christians taught by the Apostles disagree with you. It was in all Bibles until protestants removed it in the 1840's. Jesus references the ideas from the DC, just not directly quotes it. But the first Christians do as scripture all the time. There are many OT books in your Bible Jesus never quotes from or references yet they're still scripture so thats a false standard to hold the DC too. Elsewhere in the NT they are referenced. Its your assumptions that are unbiblical.
@noobmaster31
@noobmaster31 Год назад
@@MasterKeyMagic what is your evidence that the early Christians promoted the Apocrypha? None of the books of the New Testament referenced the Apocrypha, which would have come before said NT books. The Apocrypha is a collection of books, and to have 0 references by Paul or any Apostle is something to look at carefully, especially when it draws contradictory writings to the New Testament. Paul's epistles were meant for early churches to read and learn from (E.g. Colossians 4:16, 1 Timothy 3:14-15, etc). The Apocrypha simply didn't have the same power and importance behind its words.
@MasterKeyMagic
@MasterKeyMagic Год назад
@@noobmaster31 Its not that they promoted it, its that they quoted it as scripture. And in all the Churches founded by the Apostles, those books were found and used as scripture. Thats why St. Jerome's objection was overridden by the Pope. Btw, he objected to DC being scripture because 5th century Jews had stopped including it as sacred. (but 1-4th century Rabbi's used them as scripture). Therefore he did not have copies of it in Hebrew which he thought all scripture must have been in Hebrew. He was proved wrong in 1946 when the entire DC was found in Hebrew in the dead sea scrolls. John Calvin also said Baruch is scripture. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IJA-wIRctmE.htmlsi=1txt3OBkl-63u9pD The books of Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Zephaniah, Nahum, Ezra, Nehemiah, Obadiah, and Esther are not quoted either. Yet no Protestant has a problem with including them in their canon. And yes, they are referenced in the NT. Here are just a few examples. Sirach 28:2: “Forgive your neighbor’s injustice, then when you pray your own sins will be forgiven.” Matthew 6:14-15: “If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.” Tobit 4:16 (15): “See thou never do to another what thou wouldst hate to have done to thee by another” (Douay). Matthew 7:12: “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.” Wisdom 7:26: “For [wisdom] is the refulgence of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of God, the image of his goodness.” Hebrews 1:3: “[The Son] is the refulgence of his glory, the very imprint of his being, and who sustains all things by his mighty word.” Wisdom 9:13: “For what man knows God’s counsel, or who can conceive what the Lord intends?” Romans 11:34: “For who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor?”

@@MasterKeyMagic What are you referencing or what evidence can you cite when you say the Apostles "used" those books? Are you referring to the Septuagint translation? If so, then that merely shows that Jews in that era translated "religious" texts, but doesn't justify that they deemed it worthy of being in the OT canon. Why would they "use" them and go on to write contradictory scripture to what they said? For example Tobit speaks about being saved through the giving of alms. Was Paul in agreement with something like this? Obviously not. The scriptures (OT) that the Jews accepted and passed down to this very day never included the Apocrypha. And they weren't officially accepted by the Catholic Church until the 16th century, at time when I believe the devil influenced them to accept it.

@@noobmaster31 I just gave you examples of them being referenced in the NT. And the video i provided shares examples of the first Christians quoting the DC as scripture. They wouldn't if the Apostles told them not to. But they didnt. You cannot find a single Bible made before the 1820's that doesn't have those books in it. The Catholic Church recognized them as scripture at the Council of Rome in 398, not when you claim at Trent. All the Church did at Trent was affirm that they were always canon. Protestants removed them because they contradict faith alone, which isn't even Biblical in your own shortened Bibles. But you can twist scripture to fit your theology without the DC in them. They do not contradict the writings of the Apostles, they contract your man made interpretations of their writings, 1500+ years later. Yes they were always canon: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9udZKziHemo.htmlsi=7kMFxXIHSMDwmlPU The First Christians confirming Purgatory ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fA9AzI7LiSY.htmlsi=1sdRrpyb4eOU8e6_ Jesus teaching Purgatory ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YesD9TjrUes.htmlsi=rs0hrtk0DzlerGao

I think you need to change the title of the video, to why Protestants don’t use the apocrypha aka deuterocanonical. The 2 other sects of Christianity Catholics, orthodox which both date back to the beginning, use these books. The new religion aka the reformed Protestantism that started i the 1500s took them out, and Protestants are just new age Catholics, reformers didn’t leave the church cause of statues and calling priest father and all the stupid objections they have now, they left cause cause Catholicism was becoming tyrannical, and putting all authority on one man (pope).

Christians literally read the Deuterocanon today. It’s just Protestants that don’t. Literally at Catholic mass today they read from the Wisdom of Solomon lol. This video is so weirdly Protestant-biased, talk to a Catholic or Eastern Orthodox or Oriental Orthodox Christian, all their Bibles are bigger than the 66 books of the Protestant Bible. Also the 1611 AV (King James Bible) printed the Apocrypha, even though almost all KJV Bibles today exclude it.

Well, these were added after the 66 books and were debated about throught the beginings of the church. They were viewed as inspired, the reformation doesnt include them as inspired texts because of the debates and because various reformers didn't hold to every ecumenical council. However, they were still used in the early reformation, and read in churches. They were over time used less and less. They were viewed as historical writings that were edifying but not divinely inspired.

This video is bad and wrong. Especially in the subtle way that it is. Throwing Protestant sentiment on the Catholic view of the Dueterocanon (*spelling) is very misleading. The Catholic nor Orthodox Churches ever denied the books as Scripture or Canon, but it was the Reformers who denied their place of privilege and said that might be good to read. Exodus, Tobit, Mark, and James are all Holy Scripture equally even if not used equally. Sincerely in Xto Mike B. B. From Philly, P.A. U.S.A.

whereupon he was exalted and his heart was lifted up.
