My dad was a house painter, and he had canvas tarps. He told me the size of each tarp. Being a kid with a tape measure, broken but length intact, I found them to be shorter than advertised. I brought that fact up with my father, who said that the cloth started out the size quoted, but hemming and stitching brought it down to the dimensions I found, and it was more than good enough for his work. I think of it like a Bag of Chips. Big bag, small looking amount of chips. You get at least the weight of chips printed on the bag, any more and chips will crush each other in handling and transit. If is less than you need, buy bigger. The air inside is free.
@@tentsmiths3035 Yes I understand Oilskin Tarps are more expensive. I think you may have missed my point that the size given in most cases is only an indication of how big it was when it was cut. Usually a bit smaller, but some times larger mostly in one direction. You, however, pride yourself that your product is an exact dimension. That puts it into a semi custom product, which I expect to pay more to sooth one's OCD. If I were to purchase one of your 10X10 Tarps, and if it had managed to slip by QC, and measured an actual 9' 11" X 10' 1" I would likely never notice, as it would be adequate to my needs. Well, have a pleasant day every day, and a satisfyingly successful business.
I have a 10x10, and I love it. It’s real beauty. My only issue is the weight. It seems like too much to lug very far at all. Been trying to adapt but it’s tough.
We do. It is listed as 10x9'4" www.tentsmiths.com/product/oilskin-tarp/ But people email or message and ask if we can make it 10x10 instead. Since we get this question quite often, we decided to make a video about it.
