Why Don't You Like IdolM@ster? I dejavudea 

Im@s is honestly the best idol series out there, it doesn't get the love it's worthy of but I am very happy with the lovely smaller community it has.

I've always wanted to know more about Idolmaster so this is super helpful!! ♡

(TLDR intro: Here's some basics and what to know/expect in every im@s branches!) Hi, I've been an im@s fan since the 2011 anime was aired, but finally got into all the branches around 2015. So while we know that im@s have multiple branches; I think the most important thing is we do need to know the basics and premise of each branches if we want to start with one of them. I know some cases where someone can't get into CG for reasons, but enjoys ML better. (Whatever branches you start with and end up liking; you're still counted as an im@s fan, as long as it's Idolm@ster, imo!) Each branches have their own pros and cons, and which one is the "best" is all up to your preference ^^ 1. Original iDOLM@STER (aka iDOLM@STER 765PRO ALLSTARS) -The first and longest running branch, also known as the face of im@s as they debuted in 2005 as an arcade game. -765 = pronounced Namuko (Namco). -(Second) least amount of characters, with 13 girls. All fully voiced. -The BEST character writing and development, both in the anime and the games. -The 2011 anime is considered the main anime; but it also have a movie, some OVAs for the console games, the spin off anime; Xenoglossia and a mini series called Puchimas. -Also a part of Million Live; but standalone 765PRO AS contents are still active until today. -Standalone 765PRO AS currently have no mobile games that aren't a part of Million Live; all of their games are console games with their recent ones being im@s Platinum Stars and im@s Stella Stage for PS4. -Often referenced in other branches. (for being the main im@s branch, of course) Example being the (male) rival group in the series, Jupiter, is now a part of SideM. 1.5. Dearly Stars -While it exists after 765PRO and before CG, it's considered a "side story" for im@s. This branch is the smallest im@s branch, first released in 2009 as a Nintendo DS game. -The smallest amount of idols; with 3 idols. (2 girls, 1 crossdressing boy.) -The 3 idols were voiced by known seiyuus; Tomatsu Haruka, Hanazawa Kana and Sanpei Yuko. -Aside from Ryo himself, this branch haven't got any new songs nor huge contents in a while; the most recent update to this branch was a collab with CG mobage. -No anime adaptation, but the Dearly Stars idols did made a few appearances in the main im@s 765PRO anime. -Their only game was the Nintendo DS game; but does appear in other im@s 765PRO console games as guests/DLCs. -Ryo is now a part of SideM as an ex-crossdresser idol, in the unit F-LAGS. 2. Cinderella Girls -The second im@s branch, (one of) the most well known branch by English-speaking fans. First released in 2011 as a mobile game in the mobage site. -Considered a spin-off series for the 765PRO branch; but the anime shows that they're still in the same universe. -The most amount of characters with 180+ idols. (They haven't been adding anymore new idols nowadays at least.) Not everyone are voiced. -Due to the large amount of idols; of course, expect the charaterizations and writings to be somewhat "less" compared to the other im@s branches. -Variety of songs in terms of genres, thanks to the HUGE variety of idols and units. -Two mobile games; the original CG mobage and Starlight Stage; with few console games like GRAVURE4YOU and Viewing Revolution. -Anime have two seasons, with Cinderella Gekijou as mini series. 3. Million Live -Third im@s branch. First released in 2013 as a mobile game in the GREE site. -A sequel to the 765PRO branch. -The 765PRO ALLSTARS girls are a part of this branch, with more idols as a part of the Million Live-only idols known as MILLION STARS or the 765PRO's Theater group (Theyre considered as the "kouhai" to 765PRO AS). MILLION STARS have 39 girls; adding with 765PRO AS, altogether being 52 girls. All fully voiced girls. -'Somewhat' different from CG's style of songs; more close to 765PRO songs with some more variety of units and voices. -Seems to be the branch that focuses more on seiyuus and/or real live concerts. (Million Live concerts are very worth watching!) -Two mobile games, the GREE game and Theater Days. (The GREE game is shutting down this year, unfortunately.) -No anime adaptations yet; but still have few animated specials and PVs for songs. (Here's the 4th anniv animated special ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oZu9RqoRdV8.html ) Some of the ML girls did appear as supporting characters in the im@s movie. -The Million Live manga is also worth reading, it has a nice writing. 4. SideM -Fourth im@s branch, first male-only im@s branch. First released in 2014 as a mobile game in the mobage site. -Both a 'sequel' and spinoff to 765PROAS. -The setting takes place after the rival group to 765PRO; Jupiter, defected to a company called 315PRO (pronounced Saikou), which only focuses on male idols. Akizuki Ryo also joined 315PRO after the events of Dearly Stars. All the idols have this recurring theme of having an "ex-job", but later became an idol for their own reason. -Unlike other im@s branches, the idols are grouped in fixed units; there are 46 boys divided into 15 units. All boys are voiced. -Songs and live performances are mostly grouped in their own units. Each unit have their own themes. -Two mobile games, the original SideM mobage and Live on St@ge. (And again, the group Jupiter were in few 765PRO's console games as their rivals; and Akizuki Ryo were one of the main 3 idols in Dearly Stars.) -SideM anime is currently airing. While it only focuses on 6 units with other units being cameos; the anime have a more closer feel to the original im@s anime. (Jupiter also appeared in the 765PRO anime and movie, as rivals + supporting characters.) 5. New im@s branch TBA...? -Confirmed to be a HTML5 browser game with a brand new im@s branch. No other details are known as of now, other than the information about releasing this 2018. ....Yep that was a long read but that's my summary for each of the IDOLM@STER series' premises. ^^ Feel free to correct me on some. Overall, the im@s wiki gives some good list for all im@s games and idols so I'd definitely recommend the wiki for more info.

I really have a love for Idolmaster Cinderella Girls and it's one of my favorites out of the whole series. I even have my own idol group that I made up and there are 6 idols in this group. The idol group name is known as The Starlight Angels and the members of the group are Mio, Mika, Adagio, Cadence, Yuki, and Nova. (Keep in mind these are american names I've given to Syuko, Kanade, and Shin since to me in my own opinion they roll off the tongue a little bit better.) I'm also working on a fan series featuring these idols in which in it they're known as magical girl idols who are now adults juggling romance and being normal girls trying to keep their identitys a secret. I'm also working on character bios for them and the only ones that are done are Mio and Mika's.

i've been into idolmaster since 2007, when it made the jump from arcade to console, and i've never, ever looked back. i love it so, so much.

I really recommend watcing the IM@S movie as well. There's a nice bridge into the Million Live girls and there's also a scene with Jupiter that was actually repeated in the new SideM show~

hmm maybe some other things to add >Read some of the translated mangas that are out there. Puchimasu and Colorful Days come to mind as well as the ones about the DS idols. (Break can suck a fat one though) >There is a trasnlation of one of the PSP games so if you do emulate stuff you can try for that >The PSP Rhythm games of Honey, Sound, Funky Note, and Groovy Tune and the Vita Idolm@ster taiko games are nice. The PSP ones in particular have accompanying OVAs

765P also have a movie which is fantastic! There's more than just mobile games too, there are console games and people are really awesome and will upload the songs and dances - and some who will even take requests for certain set ups. This is out of their own pocket in some cased because the PS3/4 games do have some DLC but they're very much worth it. I got into it through the anime as a (now) friend was looking to do a group and I fell down the rabbit hole around the same time as AKB0048, and now I cant get enough of them. I highly recommend watching the videos of the girls performing especially since there is a new game coming out in december. The games are always improving and the outfits are stunning! (there are request compendiums which allow you to view the outfits on each girl too) Side M operates the same way as CG but just has the male idols and there is currently an anime series airing about them. I can't recommend im@s enough, I really cant.

It took me multiple attempts to play idol master. Every time I tried I just gave up either cause I hot discouraged with the scouts or the song maps were to confusing. It wasn’t till I told myself this time you will not delete it. You will give it a fair chance and you will actually play this game I was able to really able to get into it. Now I love the game and the gameplay and I have a bunch of great cards and I’m so happy I stuck with it. Don’t let the game intimidate you at first because once you figure your way around its so much fun to play!

For people on android! you can download the game using some apps. Personally i used Qooapp. It's really easy to use for downloads and updates

I love the original Idolmaster series! Never really got into Cinderella Girls as much as I thought I would. I noticed though that a lot of people who tried to watch the original Idolmaster series couldn't finish the first episode because they thought it was weird. So if your going to check it out I recommend you keep in mind that the first episode is pretty much like a introduction episode. Your pretty much meeting the characters. I do really enjoy the short series Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Theater though. Also the boys version is really cute! I recommend watching it as well ;)

Don't forget the story commus are translated on RU-vid by three separate channels. Event and chapter commus are by Idolmaster subs, but they're not entirely caught up on Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage and only have one event commus for Theater Days iirc Idol commus are done by starlight stage subs for that game. For Million Live Theater Days idol commus you have Theater Days subs. For Million Live mobage Pro -chan has a few.

To add my two cents, I personally couldn't really get into the original idolm@ster anime but loved cinderella girls so if you're just starting out and are also not too into the original still give cinderella girls a shot, especially go for a few episodes in because you may find that one to be more your thing. Kirari, Sachiko, and Ranko are my best girls

I was already into Idolmaster and I still am today I have to thank Idolmaster for making me love anime and anime music in general and for my tip for getting into it is ask a friend who knows Idolmaster and they'll tell you all about it I asked my guy friend who was into it so I have to thank him for it😊 (Ps Makoto Hibiki and Kirari are best girls😍)

I'd also suggest looking into the live concerts and then the NicoNico live broadcasts. For a newbie Producer, I'd suggest watching the 2015 Masters of Idol World concert (aka the 10th anniversary live) as it has 765, CG and ML together. And also any of the SideM concerts as well.

The discography is MASSIVE and I really recommend working through it going by character/voice preference. 765 (excluding million Live) is good to start with since each girl has multiple solo albums (as well as really fun duet albums). A different starting place in 765 is with their Greatest Best compilation albums, which features all of their wellknown tunes that includes solos and group songs. The music for idolm@ster is really great and some of the best songs are ones you wont hear in the mobile games, so i just really recommend the music and taking the time to explore it because there is definitely lots and i also guarantee there will be a genre for everyone.

Idolm@ster might seem intimidating to get into but in reality well for me, it’s fun. The music and characters. Even the storyline. It was my first introduction to idol anime. One of the many interesting parts of idolmaster is the voice actresses and actors within the series. You’ll recognize a couple of names after a while. I agree look into the characters and listen to their image songs if you can. Listen to the music in general.

Step 1- Watch the original anime/movie Step 2- Watch Cinderella Girls Step 3- Purchase every game Step 4- Sell your soul to get the money for the dlc

I watched the cinderella girls anime, loved it and started watching the visual-novel bits of the game uploaded and subbed to youtube by idolmastersubs, and I've been listening to the music for a while now. Trancing Pulse and My Secret eau de Toilette are my jams.

Million live is so great, i just came to it because i watched the anime and wanted more takane but i was surprised at how good the character writing was and the designs are very pretty and great, the song doesn't lag behind it's just great, while i was not impressed by Cinderella as a whole and i kind of didn't like it some characters were great too

Go into this series with an open mind. I used to think it was too overwhelming but once i got up and going in game and developed my account i was really glad i started. Just play it and learn as u go

I finally got a Japanese iTunes account and got Idolm@ster ... and in the process found a Gundam game that we never got. Now both are slowly eating away my free time lol. Thank you!

This was so useful, I watched the beginning of the first season years ago and listened to a lot of the songs but I got a bit overwhelmed with all the new content that came out, now I definitely want to get back into Idolm@ster!

Seasoned producer here The phone games are fun and stuff but I would highly suggest the PlayStation games. The phone app games don’t really go into the characters very much. Additionally I would suggest the lives. Also take the wiki pages and twitters with a grain of salt. I have seen some pretty incorrect information on there.

There are a lot of resources for Idolm@ster fans. I do recommend watching the series before you play the games. As mentioned below, there are translations and videos of those on youtube. If you own a PS4, Platinum stars is great! They will release a new game soon though! And.. When you finally have been sucked into Idolm@ster paradise. Watch a Live! I especially recommend namco pro's 10th live or cinderella girls any year. I cry throughout the whole concert. I am planning a Live Viewing Party with friends as well, so that's also something to recommend, SHARE THE LOVE WITH FRIENDS!

I love idolmaster a lot and the anime is really great and I love the games but I personally prefure love live since I think it has better songs and they also have Love Live all stars and the 3d models are amazing and a lot better then million live and starlight stages 3d girls in my opinion and don't get offended pls.

I jumped into the first anime after watching Love Live. It was slow at first and I took a break after the 2nd episode and restarted it a week or so later. Watched it all the way through. Loved it. Cried so much lol. Cinderella Girls was even better. Side M is pretty funny btw, you should watch it. Also nice click bait. You look cute

Older game interactions are harder to find but I've found for Platinum Stars to use handyj443 and sugio0089 seems to have the original Xbox game translations 765subs seems to have older game scenes as well as Gravure 4U! Idol cutscenes

Every time i try making a Japanese itunes account something goes wrong and i have to try it like 500 times. I have to put myself in a mood and hype myself up to try making an account and it legit NEVER works lmao it was so much easier making an account when i have an android UghHgGh
