She explained this Brilliantly! Their truly is a disconnection! Food sourcing and Food quality is super important! The problem is the availability of organically grown and pasture-raised is getting harder and super expensive to source! I've studied all of this as a Nutritionist and she is 100% spot on about everything! Food is truly the foundation to optimal health and longevity! Food influences DNA and builds the cells in our bodies! So its so important to eat as much fresh whole food as possible! Eating times and sleep times definitely play a role too.

You add in all the tilling, pesticides and momocropping, the soil never gets a chance to regenerate, as it does in the natural order of life. Soil is the foundation of healthy life. @@dragonpundit.6443, Those two things are not mutually exclusive -- both can be true at the same time. Modern food production methods can keep people from starving at the same time as those methods are creating "food" that harms the people who eat it. So by now I have 45 years' professional experience designing eco-communities, organic farms, lived in multi-home spiritual retreat working community starting 1979 and was the food growing coordinator (huge gardens, drying, canning, tofu making, orchard, raising Salmon, etc.) and have a team. The holistic approach of raising plants and animals together is the way to go.......any farming operation should be measured by "is our food growing and land stewarding building the soils and improving the land/habitat (including for wildlife) happening as we go?". Having also lived on 23 acre organic farm on those on our design team having lived, worked, designed and built these type operations in several countries....yes, this all is possible! Humans did not evolve to eat large amounts of animal foods, simply because plants were much more available and accessible to our Paleolithic ancestors than animals were; especially before humans developed tools for hunting and fishing.

@@jamesherried9269Not true. Show me ONE caveman painting of cavemen eating plants. They do NOT exist. What you do see painted are depictions of our Paleolithic ancestors hunting wild game to eat. PERIOD. Plants, nuts, berries were only eaten in times of hunger when the hunt went badly. We are predominantly a carnivore species. We have FAR more in common with wolves than with sheep. This is why some wolves ended up getting domesticated by humans into dogs - who accompanied us in our hunts. Many still do to this day.

That's not the whole picture. Yes, plants contain proteins, but they also contain components that prevent us absorbing them such as protease inhibitors. Of those that were, it was around two weeks a year, and they were much smaller, bitter and full of seeds. It was nothing like it is today. I know why you teed up the "why 30-50 grams of protein" question and she missed the real answer, so I thought I'd chime in. The reason she wants 30-50 grams of protein per meal is because in order to get the 25% thermogenic effect of protein, it requires the body to start muscle protein synthesis. And since this is such an energy intensive process, a protein threshold has to be met before it will begin. That number is in the 30-35 gram range. By eating 30-50 grams of protein per meal, she's stimulating muscle protein synthesis at each eating event. Also, saturated fat is more satiating than protein since we have three hormones that respond to it. But protein is also satiating. I dunno man, I've seen a lot of your guests and just am able to put together what they say. Can I come on the show and just synthesize what all these people are saying? Also, it would be interesting to hear Dr. Casey discuss what the anti-nutrients are doing for her in the vegetables she eats from her high quality veggies. If the nutrients are there in force, so are the anti-nutrients.

So I want to know if 60 -80 grams of just meat as per carnivore per day will suffice??? for a person weighing an average of 175 lbs or around 80 kilos. you said 30-50 grams per meal. I dunno. Some people eat 3 times per day. I am a 106 lbs and when i worked it out my intake should 48 grams but I am sure i eat more than that for satiety because i eat low carb non starchy veggies in the form of salads. That's just crazy Email, text, tweet or phone your favorite producer of poison and let them know consumers want less salt, oils and sugars in their products. I am much more animal based, but I do miss plants even though I never ate too many on a register basis. The more I learn about foods, the more I wish we didn’t have to eat, lol. One says this, another says that… it can get quite confusing. All I know for sure is that we are doing everything wrong and government needs to get out of our food industry. On the other hand it’s so hard for most to buy strictly organic or pasture raised, grass fed, etc… my husband and I are on our own Journey’s. I have female issues and he has Parkinson’s. So much to learn and even more to ignore. The connection between big food and big pharma is an absolute crime. We literally have to be our own health advocates and become our own science experiments. As a whole food plant-based vegan for 29 years, I appreciate what Casey is saying about soil depletion & our industrialized food system. (I’ve been aware of these problems since she was in diapers, ha.) And if people choose to eat animals, I would much rather them eat animals who have not spent a lifetime being abused. I do disagree with her conclusion, however. Why not just encourage people who are plant-based to eat organic whenever possible, to grow as much of their own food as they can, & to avoid ultra-processed vegan foods? Not easy, perhaps, but fairly simple. Regenerative farms in which plants & animals work synergistically is ideal, surely, but who says those animals must be slaughtered? It’s certainly not necessary for anyone’s health to eat dead animals, or their secretions. I’m living proof, as are millions of others.

The are too many people on the planet. Most barely subsisting on toxic, hybridized, glyphosate drenched, crappy plant foods when they could be thriving on meat. Depopulation is coming. Humanity is sick because we thought we could defy nature and the circle of life. Modern humans did just fine globally subsisting on wild animals for 288,000 of the past 300,000 years. Our population also remained at more sustainable levels for the health of the planet and the biosphere because we weren’t causing overpopulation by stuffing everyone’s faces with grains. Like any overpopulated species ours is due for the inevitable die-off correction from Mother Nature. A century from now we will not be at 10 Billion. More like 500 million globally. We can feed all of them on animals raised on land that is currently wasted producing toxic plants using chemical inputs. Those lands need to be reclaimed as pastures for ruminant food animals.

Thank you for this. My question in the face of information like this is how to feed 8bn+ people with healthy food. The sort of food-growing methodologies she describes produce prices only a small minority in the West can afford. That means health is too expensive for most. Which means we need to change how we do society from the ground up to bring this sort of food to everyone affordably. The second question that follows is carrying capacity. For example, my back-of-the-envelope calculations show about quarter to half an acre available per person in England of land. And that would mean no parks, nor roaming land, etc. This is a problem across much of Western Europe, if not most. So this is a huge problem.

I would input from my experience that eliminating plant carbs would also be a similar solution to fasting. One could argue it is because of the vegetable carbs that she really needs to fast to offset their negative effect. IE/ Vegetable carbs converting to glucose (sugar) in the blood by the liver. Seems a bit redundant to eat a large amounts of plant based material. Also, the satiation trigger described by Casey credited to protein sources is actually from the animal fat she eats. The muscle building can be credited to al sources of protein. I feel confident she will get there as she has already worked out so much compared to where she started. Earth's microbiome is paramount to protect, so she is way ahead on sustainability. I look forward to hearing more from her and seeing what influence JFK Jr achieves via influencing government.

Obsession of any kind is a problem especially seen in veganism. Your body already knows what it wants, the entire struggle happens when you don't listen to it. Instead you become obsessed with being "healthy" while the truth is the "Fear" is what propels you, not the love for being healthy itself. you try to figure things out with the thinking mind, find moderate results and in the process only overwhelm yourself. Even being obsessed with being "compassionate and ethical". Compassion towards animals and minimizing suffering will happen from a place you are already being kind and compassionate to yourself first. If you want to grow your own vegetables, first learn to enjoy the process, the art of gardening, then you will have something that is fun, long term sustainable and fulfilling on its own and you will enjoy eating from your garden. Dont' be an efficient machine otherwise you will just hate that you have to do all that hard labor just for a fckin carrot on the plate.
