I think they jacked the AI to maximum or something for the final battle with Cell because I just played through the game on very hard twice now, and there's definitely something different with Cell's AI.
Oh man the flood of the memories, that fight against Cell... My brother and I would play by death, and we didn't have a memory card. I think we left our PS2 on for an entire weekend. Played it again years later on Gamecube while having beers with a few friends and we spent all night on it too. Luckily had a bit of experience behind myself that time around 😂
6:12 Reason why it’s not working is bc gohan has a 5 hit string and kamehameha requires exactly 4 hits. Just don’t mash P and do it on the 4th hit. Worked out in the end tho as you saw kamehameha isn’t guaranteed on hit 😅
@@TekkenOnlineFights Been trying to understand what that means for a few minutes. I think youre disagreeing with me and calling me a monkey? Maybe saying "not really monkey" implying the comment doesnt have the qualities of a monkey? Confused.
I hope you end up checking out budokai 2 at some point, it's definitely the oddest game of the bunch but it's still a lot of fun with all the weird stuff it had that never appeared in any of the other games. Tiencha, Gokule, Buu transformations that never happened and the very weird dragon world story mode.
One thing I'll always remember about budokai 1 was how cool the menu looked and the cell saga being the hardest mainly because the super saiyan transformation is limited and the what if scenarios
Refreshing to hear about "neutral" and general versus fighting terminology in a Budokai video. So many RU-vidrs never mention the cancel mechanic which is central in these games. About your struggle against the CPU, another tool to guard break in this game is the dash attack. As a side note, I suggest playing the Gamecube version on emulator; upscaled to monitor resolution it has the best graphics, and the original banger of a soundtrack.
I kid you not a couple days ago i got the sudden urge to play and watch dragon ball stuff and ever since I've been seeing people recently talk about old dbz games and i'm always amazed when i see a video pop up especially yours Kaizen i've been a huge fan since i saw your Yakuza videos a couple months back. Keep up the good work❤️.
Ah yes, the game that tricked me into playing a fighting game and had really play my best to beat that final boss before I had to return the disc to blockbuster. The memories 😇
Subbed. This was the first video game I’ve ever played. GameCube. I didn’t even know what dragon ball z was at the time and loved it ever since. Always takes me back to when I was 4
Actually, I believe that Frieza and Great Saiyaman were the only characters in the game who could teleport in the original budokai. You also do get to play as evil and good vegeta in the story after you beat it on any difficulty
after the two cancels you were doing, do “back punch, punch” and that’ll do more damage and lift them in the air. then finish with the standard kamehameha combo. it works in all 3 Budokai games.
I always used the ➡️ k p p p e because it pushing the enemy back & it will always hit if the first kick lands. P p p p e never hits hard 97% of the time with Goku (others too)
This game was my first dbz fighting game unfortunately my first dbz adventure game was legacy of son goku which is pretty mixed and sometimes not that great for some people.
@Pink Man yeah, that game is quite time consuming with leveling up but it definitely plays better than the first installment which I appreciate about it. The third installment plays better as well though it can be a tad consuming with the grinding.
You actually only finished half the game, more story mode chapters as other characters unlock once you finish the initial playthrough. Also the replacement music in the HD Collection is terrible.
When they do that charge attack i forget the name what the game calls it but if you do the same and time it right you do the same thing and you enter a blow exchange bit where you gotta spin the analogs again i do that in b3 when they spam that too because i spin the snot outta controller and sometimes win i do that because you end up in the air mostly and can follow up too. In b3 its far better because the right stick actually does the moves too like punching and kicking its cool because when you win and use both stick you can do the teleport persue that is the computer doesn't get out of there too. I like doing that in the game sadly this one dont have it but the blow exchange is there it a way i try to escape that where they stun lock you too
As much as I hate the violence and music censorship the HD Collection did to Budokai 1 and 3, I have to admit Budokai 1 looks really good in HD. Also, what is the name of the outro song you used?
Honestly, i never got into dragon ball, or anime in general, but i remember playing Budokai 2 and just being so stupid to play the damn game. Hopefully you'll play it soon kaizen!
wish you could've somehow played the og budokai American game. the remastered version removed the old soundtrack due to copyright issues but the original soundtrack for this was fire, still has the best dbz game music imo.
The music is completely different from the absolute bangers in the originals. It was apparently licensing issues. The new music isn't great in comparison...
Your Gohan is going into a 5 hit punch combo because you’re spamming the punch button 5 times. You can do the kamehameha if you just count your presses.
DBZ Badokai is the worst one I've ever played and I actually somewhat rate it pretty high for the most scripted/cheating game. I remember it as a kid and I played it again for nostalgia. I did not have fun playing this game at all, just enjoying the cutscenes, to music and the actual graphical hud. The other Badokai's are alright but still contain a lenient version of it's cheats Everything that involves taking the settings of the original settings nearly can make these games unplayable.
It's easy to punish the Kamehameha so don't forget the other variation. P, ➡️P, P and O. It'll send them on the air in the second to last button and then you can get away with using it.
With Goku the ideal is to mix combo cancels, the most effective I´ve found is >P K K (cancel) K K K K (cancel) them you end with either > K K K K or a kamehameha. But a heavy flaw of this game is if you´re playing with a character with no cancel or no fast strings like gohan has the game becomes unsuferable, your strings will allways end with the enemy blocking it and getting an entire combo out of it, and if they use a string in you you haven´t good options too punish them, or they will use P+K and cancel it insta not allowing you to punish it. If you play as Goku and combo with the combo at the start the game is actually really fun, if the enemy just continue to blocks you can end the >P K K with a Grab or charge the last K to hit them, but with any other character the game just isn´t fun
I remember when I played this on my PS2 I had fun with it even if I didn't know what I was doing at the time and by the way fuck Cell I had some much trouble with that fight the only reason I won was because he reverted back to his 2nd form mid fight
