the new steam players have already left the game… they released it on steam like a month or two ago and for a week and a half the servers were almost always full of players to the point that nobody could join games, and the player count hit an all time high of 4,000 something like that. 3 or so weeks ago, the playerbase died down by a few thousand players. maybe ea will notice how much better gw2 has been performing than bfn ever did, but honestly i think that’s being a bit optimistic
This is a totally reasonable point, but I think that its fun to discuss that there is a chance or EA even entertained the idea of reviving the shooters again! It shows how even the biggest companies can change their minds about something (sometimes its for the money of course).

GW2 was extremely fun - the lobby has so much to do, there was secret content to unlock like Torchwood and Hovergoat, and it still had the unique variants, but BFN had some really out there ideas which I wouldn’t mind seeing in some kind of GW3. I liked the idea of the Swarm class (never played it, but it looked really interesting), the combo classes are an interesting idea, and… didn’t they have new characters on the way or something?
I remember seeing leaks for multiple more legendary upgrades like vinyl disc peashooter, shotgun oak, ricochet laser soldier, and characters like mini gargantuar, super bean, berry brigade, and iceberg lettuce
They added Wizard Zombie. Dude, this guy was extremely fun to play. I don't even have words to explain how cool he was. Generally, BFN had gigantic potential but EA ruined it
@@nepemaster4674 Upgrade system wasn’t liked because it replaced the variants system which quite a few people also liked. They could tone down the effects and make it more broad, or they could go nuts and make an upgrade tree specific to each variant, either way, I’d at least like to see variants return, whether or not they keep upgrades around
Based off of this game getting updated, I hope that they pay attention to games such as PVZ2 and PVZ heroes. PVZH has a large fanbase and it needs an update or new cards to keep the fanbase engaged
@@dehydrated1 eh. It’s definitely not as great as GW and GW2, but I still like the Open World concept and the new characters. Still, it would’ve been a better idea to just make a GW3 or GW2 dlc that adds the Open world maps and other characters.

Well, the fact that EA actually came back in january-february of 2022 to fix rux, we can only assume it is possible for EA to come back to the franchise and still give updates. They fixed Rux this year, they are now coming back to fix turf takeover. I see a glimmer of hope that there is potential for either a new game or adding support once again.
It would have been debatable because people would be used to BFN (because GW doesnt come out) but when they release GW, people would probably question why the crap the graphics are horrible and the controls are much different. once GW2 comes out, people would probably question why theres a sequel, but would probably like it some because its.. well.. an improvement lol

This game needs a revive, it’s too good to let die. It’s my damn childhood. It’s Overwatch BUT FUN! (OW is good competitively it’s hard for me to just have fun in it). This video encapsulated this pretty well (but you do repeat some stuff so it could use a bit of polishing, other than that it’s really good.)
On October 8th Overwatch 2 is coming out. I played the Beta and oh my god it feels so much better, its actually playable again. Love to see a fellow Gw and Ow player
It's a shame bfn was so bad, I liked the new characters, but it just wasn't worth playing outside the story mode imo (and even then it wasn't that good).
It would've gotten better with updates, but knowing "PopCap good, EA bad," they would just get a bunch of hate for no reason, so it was canceled. Most people with logical arguments complained about variants though, so I don't know why they couldn't have just listened instead of ABANDONING THE WHOLE GAME.
I really feel like BFN made us all realize how good GW2 was. At least for me, I got back into GW2 after BFN was such a disappointment. I really hope that we get a game that has some of the balance changes from BFN, but keeps all the good stuff from GW2
BFN was fun for the switch atleast, put a good 150 hours into it, And it’s fun for what it is I guess, GW2 is still better but the cosmetics in BFN have to return, they were so much better
No , gw2 is far superior than bfn, if there's another shooter it should avoid getting inspiration from bfn, the only good thing was the campaign and the giddypark and maybe the sprint mechanic.
I just want the fun game modes to come back like dino vs cats, boss hunt, soil survivors, battle of exploding hero’s and etc. that’s all I want like at least add them even if it’s solo play

Its so dumb that they dont at least add a couple new things to the game every few months, they already have the code and models but they refuse to do anything with it. GW2 was the most popular version of pvz shooters and it'll keep that way

FunFact: PopCap planned on eventually adding new game modes and character variants to BFN, but EA saw it was failing (even though it’s been 3 months) and decided to take control over it and introduced micro transactions instead and abandoned it. FunFact#2: PopCap was celebrating GW1 hiring 8Million players…..then EA came in and told them to stop showing support to that game. FunFact#3: EA abandoned GW2 simply because they saw the community was happy how the game was….then they proceeded to nerf crap and get rid of community challenges and boss hunts just to dip and work on a worse game.
The problem with battle for neighborville is fight system, it feels so weird and that you can also now sprint with character. Also I like the charakter designs from GW2 way more.

I hope EA makes a new Garden Warfare game and bring the BFN characters to it since the characters were cool and the variants could really make things interesting.
If they do make GW3 i hope they use BFN graphics, Hud and movement, use GW2 gameplay with classic maps and new ones, add a new character to the Base roster on GW2 with a character from BFN (Snap Dragon and The Zombie Wizard guy) keep the variants, i would like them to add Killstreaks (Vanquish streaks bc PvZ 😂) jus imagine a Carrot masked as a AC130
If GW1 and GW2 are revived like a lot on Xbox, I’m gonna start playing Hard and Crazy Mode on each of them no matter what players they are. I’m glad this game is “being revived by EA”.
I came up with a pvz game with full voice acting called plants vs zombies vangaurd, it's like a turn based combat were you can play as a plant or zombie, it reintroduces some of the old gw characters like captian smasher, sasquach, pumpkin squash, and hypnosis flower, as well as many of the old variants
I’ve had my personal thoughts about each game and here’s some of them 1. I like the online lobby thing,but I really love garden warfare 2’s lobby. 2. I dislike certain character variants I loved being gone,including berry peashooter,lime cactus. 3. I love the swarm class idea.
I wish they could take some of the best features from neighborville (the sprinting option, the new characters, and other things), slap some variants onto the new characters, and add them to GW2
I wouldn't exactly call it reviving, a few weeks before it was announced for Steam I played for a few hours over the course of a couple days, and the lobbies were still active (at least the server I was in)
I remember how it took them years to update GW2 with Twilight Chomper lol. And even then Twilight Chomper was just Unicorn Chomper with a different version of it's rainbow dash
Gw2 was absolutely legendary, i been a pvz fan ever since i was 6 after playing OG Pvz and I’m glad a fun game is somewhat getting more popular again. Though BFN is garbage, they removed variants etc. and EA stopped developing it which they should have.
I still wish they would bring back GW1. Obviously 2 is better, but 1 has a great style and great maps, and I just wish they'd combine the best parts of the two.
I love these games. Even BFN. I actually got the platinum in that one. I play either that or GW2 almost every day. The steam release gave me hope, so let's keep our appendages crossed!
As someone who loves PvZ and shooters, one of my biggest wishes is to experience these games before they die. Never got my hands on a XB1/PS4 or any gaming PC these past years.
Coming to say as a 2014 gw1 player, the game was AMAZING when it hit it's high in the community, people were making loads of content, all game modes were full of people and friendly competition, they were getting sponsors and adding completely new things! Heck the even had a community event and the winner got to put in their very own variant idea for a class (Plasma pea won), now all that's left is a couple turf servers, maybe a team vanquish or ops if your playing midday when the games most active, pc cheaters and every other game mode that isn't a main one like ops or turf is completely empty and left on waiting for players. The only time you will see the game active now is when a large pvz community bands together to all get onto the same platform and the same game mode to re-live the times when the game was a internet sensation. One actually happened a few months ago with capture the taco and for the first time in probably years there was a full lobby, and at that there was multiple full lobbies
Seeing the GW1 footage reminded me of my days playing the game on the PS3, being horrible. I never realized how much… darker(in a lighting way) the game was in comparison to GW2(or bfn for that matter)
I had such a good time in gw2 its really devastating to hear from ea that they dont see a future for it, but otherwise i am happy to hear that people still play this game after such a long time
I agree with @chatarrra EA owns PopCap and they are influencing it in a negative way, the problem is comes from the higher ups, whom are the executives at EA.
I think the shooter games would have absolutely skyrocketed for PVZ if they made BFN in a similar style to GW2 like making it look similar and keeping variants, the character upgrade system and the sticker packs but also adding features like giddy park and the campaign maps like town centre and dreadwood forest
I totally agree, but I think that the game needed to change a bit to be relevant for longer, however the changes that were made, were in the wrong direction :(

Exactly people always call bfn trash because they always compare it to gw2 when the games are nothing alike. Another reason why many trash on the game is because youtubers like wolfy and zero dont like it.

I hope this opportunity to see GW2, an older game compared to PVZ 3 and BFN, is doing better than the other two combined despite being a 6 year old game will make Popcap look back and revive other games in the PVZ franchise. I was a bit unlucky because I bought the gme on origins at that same discount, but Steam is just much more superior of a launcher overall anyways. For me personally, the game is amazing up until you hit multiplayer. As an asian, I found absolutely 0 players on any gamemode whatsoever, and have to switch to other servers, where the ping is so bad it's almost unplayable. But it is still fun. I also think PVZ Heroes was awesome and should get a revive. I mean I even made fanfiction of the game 6 years ago before I stopped, the game has surprisingly big potential for lore drops.
It would be amazing for a new pvz shooter to come out! I enjoy all the games, but the shooters are my favorite of the bunch. I personally enjoyed bfn but would rather a potential new game be more similar to garden warfare. Here's to hoping EA sees just how successful a new pvz shooter could be!

The only downside of it being released on steam is if this game doesn’t get anymore updates us console players can never play the turf takeover again without having to go into mixed mode
you know, pvz shooters were amazing until bfn, like i guess it might be milking it but bfn was like, milking terribly cause they got rid of so much of the good things like the variants and just tossed the balancing out the window, the game didn't die cause people were getting tired of pvz shooters, it was cause the game was awful in comparison with the 2 much better shooters
@@specialism640 the campaign definitely needs more work, all 4 basically follow the same mission pattern and aren't very different in each other besides the environment being different so it gets boring quickly after you finish one
The campaign felt repetitive in a boring way. They didn't add variants which was the core of GW1, GW2, and they made the game much more faster which doesn't suit the playstyle of PVZ.
i dont think their shutting the servers down for a few more years because they just released the port so this atleast can show that the servers will atleast be up for a few more years
SO THAT'S WHY THERE WHERE SO MANY PEOPLE! (you can skip this part if you want, is just for context) When i obtained my Xbox, like 4 years ago, i sold my retro consoles in order to afford a single triple A game with the console... I decided by PvZ GW2... What i coincider, one of my best investments... That game bringed so many good times to me. I keept playing until around 3 or 6 months after Tales of the Taco, since i was moving and didn't had much time to play, February of this year i managed to organize my things, but one of my beloved ones passed away, so, i picked up the Xbox to feel better. A few weeks ago, i plugged in my external memory to the console, subscribed to Gamepass and saw the game on the library. I opened the game. The multiplayer portal was working pretty fast. Until now, i was confused about why, the last thing i knew was that some bot named Dave was reproducing a pre-made list of monthly events, i now have better understanding about the situation, thanks! I really hope they re-anounce community events, mistery portal weekly and Halloween/Holyday updates, if they don't, I'm happy if the community keeps the game alive!.
If they do a third game (which I doubt they will but I hope to God they will) I hope the cosmetics are better, that’s one of the few things gw2 did worse then the other two games
I hope they also bring back unique abilities tied to the overhaul cosmetics (like plasma pea, Alien Sunflower, etc), because in Neighborville they didn't change the way the plants attacks worked at all from what I remember
The best thing about BFN is that you could put 3 acorns ontop of Oak and then becoming a infinite healing 4 turret killing machine. (I own the game on PS Switch Steam and EA please help)
This is totally off topic but The first 2 games especially the first one to me felt like playing tf2 It wasn't a sweaty shooter ye it had its sweaty players but the game was fun there would sometimes have that tf2 moment were both teams would just do random shit and for young me it was a blast And i remember that (some years ago) ppl on the xbox were still getting full lobbys on the first game while in the second half full on a good day It was most of my early teen and late childhood to go game its a damn good gam Edit: oh and not to mention this game has a huge brasilian following somehow I still think it does?
BFN just goes to show they had tons of potential with GW2 to make it even better like GW2 did with GW1, but just took out some of the best parts and added in unnecessary stuff instead. As legendary as GW2 is (I’ve nearly maxed out two accounts, lol) it still has some improvements that I’m sure anyone could see that could be made. Notably, glitches and balance changes. I just wish BFN could’ve taken this direction instead. While I doubt the shooters, or PvZ as a whole, has much of a future, it’s telling that they chose to revive the game somewhat by putting it on steam. And yes, EA doesn’t care much for a dead game that’s highly loved as it doesn’t make them much money. But they might be able to see through the failure of BFN and see a dedicated player base on GW2 still remaining, probably forever. Seeing the downgrade and negativity on some of PvZs latest work is unfortunate, but I still think they can turn things around. Even if they continue with the BFN and PVZ3 kind of art style, they can still make some good games, I’m sure of it. So while the future of the shooters isn’t clear, I don’t think it’s impossible to see something come of it. I’m still here with all of you guys
I know most don't believe a gw3 happening after BFN, and that's honesty the smarter mindset to have due to how unrealistic it is, but things like this make me like to believe 3-5 years down the line they announce one, I like to imagine how it would go down.
If garden warfare 3 was a thing i always wanted like more collab variants like cheetos and aquafina i even drew a marvel based collab as a kid with an all star variant called hulk star and a pea variant called spider pea
GW2 and GW have always been the better quality, more hyped, and all-around more loved games. I think what really drove people away, including myself, from BFN, was the fact that they removed most of the things that made GW2 and GW so amazing. What REALLY drove me away though is the removal of variants. I just want to play Snow Peashooter, is that too much to ask!?!? I also found the storyline for BFN really... boring.

I still really liked BFN so I was very upset when they stopped updating it after only a year since I felt like it could of gotten better and I was devastated when I heard they weren't making anymore PvZ shooters cause I loved GW and GW2

I’ve only played bfn on the switch and played GW2 at my friend’s house. I feel bfn is like an empty husk while GW2 is mostly everything the players wanted (minus micro-transactions). I wish they would update one of the games to feature more content or even just create a brand new game that actually took in the criticism that the game received. All we can hope is to create enough attention for EA to realize the fan base but like the intro the Shrek, “Like that’s ever gonna happen”.
