Let me guess, this project is funded by China? Think rainwater harvesting would be a better investment.

Cairo is in a desert too. Nearly the entire country is desert. The River Niles flows through a desert.

In just seven years, this new capital is finally taking shape. As an Egyptian who visited it already looks like no other place in their country. Already more than one hundred thousand government employees, students of four universities, and five schools go to to the new capital on daily basis. In the few coming years this will emerge as the hottest city in middle east... Watch it as it grows ever so fast.

to really city what this city looks like, you need to see that city and other mega projects have already impovrished most egyptians , ruined and quite literally darkened their lives with power outages ! wake up and see this terrible resource hole for what it is , a massive wealth transfer scheme from the egyptian people to the corrupt military!

Let's reassess the calculation with clear definitions: Public Debt: This figure represents the total government debt, which is the sum of both domestic and external debt. If Egypt's public debt is 96.37% of GDP, and GDP is $387 billion, then this public debt already includes both domestic and external components. The public debt figure we calculated was $372.95 billion USD. Domestic Debt: The domestic debt figure provided was $53.4 billion USD, which typically should be part of the public debt. External Debt: The external debt was provided as $160.6 billion USD, which is also part of the public debt. Correct Method We should not add the domestic and external debt on top of the public debt, as that would double-count these figures. Instead, the public debt already encompasses both domestic and external debt. Therefore, the correct total public debt is $372.95 billion USD. The combined $53.4 billion in domestic debt and $160.6 billion in external debt should sum up to a similar figure as the public debt. The sum of these two (domestic + external) equals $214 billion USD, indicating that the public debt figure accounts for broader calculations, possibly including other liabilities or different exchange rates over time.

No, it can't. Even Myanmar didn't go bankrupt with it's deserted capital, same with Indonesia.

@@theprimest Egypt has great potential, but it also has great enemies. What they also need is a bit of social responsibilty awareness among it's people.

Egypt is taking the wrong approach with water. Suspect that at best this will be like Brasilia...

@@b_uppy After treatment, Nile can still supply the capital, but yes Egypt needs a new approach to water management and security. One of the things is that they need to play their geopolitical cards right. Specially in case of Ethiopia and Israel.

@@magatism If their climate supports mangroves, think planting them and building small, frequent rainwater harvesting structures will be a better approach.
