The real sad part, The Beatles idolized Elvis, John Lennon covered "Hound Dog" in his 1972 New York concert and in between the verses he says, "Elvis, I love ya". Paul and Ringo have covered Elvis' music.
Beatles were narcissists like most of the other Hollywood musicians who preach for everyone to disown their posessions and run barefoot in the grass being friends with everyone meanwhile they make billions for corporations and still do, have personal armed guards and stick to their mansions most the time.
He was a saint as anyone is who believes in the Christ. He needed to get into Gods Perfect will for his personal life. That sometimes is a struggle. Jesus is Perfect. And Presley knew this!! JulieKilburn
Nixon was about the same age as my dad. His generation said the exact same things about Elvis as he was saying about the Beatles. Each generation thinks the next is a menace!
@MelloMe_ he didn't abuse prescription drugs. He took meds because he had hereditary health problems that he inherited from his mom's side of the family, including but not limited to: hypertension, a twisted colon, and a fatty liver. He had to take a lot of medication for all of these disorders but ended up being overperscribed by his personal physician. He had health problems but he wasn't a heroine junkie.
Elvis held the number one spotlight for so long, then The Beatles changed everything! His ego couldn't handle what a sensation The Beatles were because there was never anything like them in music history!
It was about fans he was pissed off about the message! be free do drugs dont have families forget God and rebel thats why he thought they were bad influences and time has proven him right
Elvis is like Guns and Roses and the Beatles were like Nirvana. Elvis was big hair music. The Beatles were a combination of mod and rocker (mockers). Elvis used his pelvis. The Beatles used their wit, double ententre, art, exi-friends from Hamburg, and so on.
Ironic considering that Elvis was way more controversial than the Beatles in the eyes of the people that were trying to protect the country from the youth
That's because that was on the K's agenda too. The panthers were a terrorist group responsible for bombing while the K's were against the blks. From the looks of the places they gather In large numbers I'd say they were on to something.
Also, he groomed a 14 yr old to become his wife, cheated on her non-stop, and hypocritically popped pills like they were candy while griping about the "druggie" hippies & blacks, etc. Just another insecure, bullying white boy pushing racist & patriarchal B.S. He & Tricky Dick were just 💩-stains of a feather. No doubt about it, if he was still around, he'd be 1 more member of the Cult. Yet all the old ladies still adore him. SMH. Racism is Gross.
That’s because at this time the KKK was nothing more than some backwoods click that idiots tended to join because of ignorance whereas the black panthers was a mainstream movement gaining power and friends with circles that were anti American.
John Lennon wasn't crazy about the song Taxman, but just like the other 3 ended up moving to America for lower taxes. The only anti-American song the Beatles had was Satire. 'Back in the USSR'
@@justinkoeberl5797 The top tier tax rate was something like 80% before tax shelters and creative accounting. It was proposed to be hiked up to 95% to end generational wealth and the evil rich. The Beatles were fast approaching the top tier tax rate, hence the words of the song.
From the mid 1950s, older Americans such as fellow fake "saint" substance-abuse musician Frank Sinatra thought that Elvis was plummeting American culture and values. Elvis complained that The Beatles took their US money to England? Elvis (jealous that his '50s fans & mimics The Beatles had toppled him from the pop hit charts) got Nixon to try to deport John Lennon from USA and JL's NYC home. And "anti-American" Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr married American girls.
But in the mid sixties until his comeback he was no longer number one. He was more or less on cruise control doing mediocre movies. Just like Sinatra before him it’s hard for people on top to accept being dethroned.
Performers get to a point where they are no more relevant. The same happened to the Beatles. The same will happen to any hottie of the day. You discovered America.
@@justinkoeberl5797 There was NO hypocrisy. Get over yourself. He didn't glamourize drugs by talking about it. They did! Even George Harrison said Paul only talked about it when it became fashionable. And, of course, John could never keep his mouth shut. Until someone had the good sense to shut if for him.
@@fastinbulvis2223Elvis was a SERIOUS-level drug addict. That was a chief level negative influence; he was an American icon and had been highly influential for ten years before and twice as long as the Beatles. Hypocrite and envy-based jealousy of blacks, Englishmen, and addicts other than himself. Shame...
Elvis Presley wanted a Federal Narcotics Badge and he charmed his audience in doing so, telling Richard Nixon what he wanted to hear. Elvis hand wrote that letter on the plane to Washington, hand delivered it to the White House gate guard and got a meeting with the President of The United States on that same day in the Oval Office. Elvis also left the White House with Nixon arranging for him to receive the Federal Narcotics Badge. Mission Accomplished. TCB⚡️
@@lilmoe4364 Not really, he actually used it once to stop a commercial airplane on the runway ✈️ from taking off at the Las Vegas airport and removed a passenger from the plane that had stolen from him.
@@kennethwofford4489 No not true, his staff was concerned with his rock n’ roll image and longer hair at the time and conveyed that to Nixon but they also thought it might be a chance for for positive press and a photo op since Nixon was under pressure from the Vietnam war protesters and bad press.
If true - and I say IF - I'm guessing Elvis saw (like many, many others at the time) the Panthers as a politically motivated organization, using extreme violence to achieve their goals.
@@Tyler-uo7rf his entire discography consisted of other people’s songs. the beatles wrote and composed all their own music and were leaps and bounds more talented. cry.
@@Tyler-uo7rf 😂😂Shut up, they are both legends but it's a known fact The Beatles have sold more records and won more than Elvis, the guy was 100% jealous of there popularity.
Yet he is the best selling musician of all time the only one to reach 1 billion unit's sold : P The Beatles are placed second Michael Jackson are placed third
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625 Sorry but you're wrong... Top-selling artists worldwide as of 2022 Perhaps unsurprisingly, British rock band The Beatles are top of the list for best-selling artists worldwide, with 183 million units certified sales. Second is Garth Brooks with over 157 million units sales, followed by Elvis Presley with 139 million units.
@@JB-smokn proof lol from where?, my claims are from wikipedia, so you're telling me, that 67 years after his debut album, Elvis has sold 183 million unit's worldwide?, come on RCA went out, and said 1 billion unit's worldwide, the Beatles 600-700 million unit's, and Michael Jackson 350 million unit's.
When they met, Elvis didn’t have much to say. The Beatles were very sharp, witty & clever. Elvis was an uneducated redneck hillbilly. BTW, John was quite disappointed after meeting one of his idols. Never meet your heroes....
Elvis was such a great patriot. And for the fools saying “hE wAzz a DrUg aDdicxt,” 🤪 he was on medication that he thought was helping him. Watch yourself. And at this point he was in phenomenal shape and healthy. He would do anything to help and serve his country and the public. And wanted no attention for it.
The Beatles are better than anything Elvis have done. They’ve made a lot of my favorite albums of all time and they’re the reason why so many genres in styles of music exist today. They really are one of the original blue prints.
Presley was just pissed off because the Beatles had stolen his thunder. The king wanted his throne back, but never did. Swivel Hip's glory days of fame was over. Regardless, Elvis did make a legendary impact on rock and roll.
I remember when I was young, I didn’t understand things like this. But now at 35 with 3 kids, I actually completely understand what Elvis is talking about, even though it’s not actually explained properly in this clip.
Elvis was just pissed the Beatles were more popular, sold more records, were liked more and didn’t overindulge in food and cocktails of large amount of drugs. They say he started rock n roll but that wasn’t true. Rock became mainstream during the british invasion.
Elvis was pissed off at John Lennon when The Beatles were Invited to his mansion and John had the balls in a good way to kind of bust Elvis balls by saying something like Hey dude, what have you’ve been up to lately eh!? You’re not the same Elvis that I grew up to admire and idolize, you’re not doing the rock and roll thing anymore like before, now you singing either religious songs or non - rock tunes like before, you inspired us , you were our hero, but I think you lost it. ( just get the idea ). So I think that Elvis knew he was telling him the truth but was in denial about it, and it really must have touched a bad nerve to him, as an insult instead as a reality check.
Elvis went to Tricky Dick to fight corruption and the drug problem? But, Elvis was on so many drugs himself that he could have opened a pharmacy in his name!
He had a shit ton of health problems inherrited from his mom's side of the family that he took prescriptions for but his doctor over prescribed him a lot. Elvis never did street drugs.
@@bowencreer3922the man literally wanted to stop an affinity group that gave school children lunch. Doesn’t get more conservative right wing wing than that
Elvis refused to stay at a Hotel or even do a show in the town, when he found out that his Black backup singers were not allowed to stay at the same Hotel.
When Elvis heard the Beatles he realized they actually had musical talent and he was afraid his gig was up. Everything the Beatles did is classic, while 98% of Elvis music hasn't aged well at all.
Elvis didn't hate the Beatles. They were already being tracked by the government just because they were such a huge success. He just used that as a ruse to get Nixon to get the badge he wanted.
Elvis will always be the King of Rock & Roll! A great title, and he deserves it. The Beatles became more popular than him. But so what, The Beatles could care less. They can't help it. I will always love both. 💘
Elvis covered some Beatles songs and mentioned liking the Beatles at various points. The long story behind this meeting with Nixon was that Elvis really wanted a federal badge and the privileges that came with it. It is entirely possible he was pandering to Nixon, telling him what he wanted to hear.
