We almost got up and walked out of the theater when that ‘girl power’ scene came on screen. It was so jarring and completely destroyed our immersion in the movie.
Also they broke their own rules in endgame. Doing something in the past created branch timelines, that was why Steve had to go and replace all the stones. But he himself stayed in the past so wouldn't he be in his own branch timeline? So how could old Steve be behind them to give the shield.
They don't care. The Russo's admitted they just liked that ending better, despite the fact that it made no sense with Cap's character. He had already moved on from Peggy when he said goodbye to her at her funeral, and then he started a romantic relationship with Sharon Carter. He also accepted his role in the present in Age of Ultron.
Maybe instead of going back to the present day in the time Hulk pulled him back to, he went back to the day before he time-travelled and made sure his time device was routed to his home universe? Like at the end of Season 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., after messing with history in a branched timeline, the agents arrived back in the original timeline shortly before they time-travelled and they became the people in the blue hazmat suits we saw at the end of Season 6.
I always took it to be that it's a Steve from another universe that did a similar adventure and ended up in their universe. 616 is not going to be the only universe that defeated Thanos in the way that they did.
@@frionelhero But if that was a Steve from another universe, where did our Steve go? And if that wasn't our Steve, that moment would actually seem very pointless. From that touching moment of old man Steve handing his shield to Sam, that was meant to be our Steve, as him appearing on that bench was meant to answer the question of what happened to him when he didn't reappear on the platform. Your theory not only ruins the moment of Steve's retirement, it reopens the question. And I really don't like it when fans use the multiverse as an excuse.
@@SeanWheeler100 we see our Steve have his dance. That's the last we see of him as he exits the 616 universe forever. In order to not break the rules of the time travel, my head Cannon says that the old man Steve is a variant from another universe who had a very similar or even identical life as 616 Steve. Kind of like that show sliders. Think of it like this, 616 Steve is in a different universe, and when he gets old he will probably pass his shield on to that universe's Sam.
@@kadencastro8168 , American Chavez being an Avenger just makes it easy for Scarlet Witch, her brother Quicksilver, her children, and the Fox heroes in Deadpool 3 to being Avengers 2.0 even greater than the child Avengers in the Lions Gate film, so yes there's a reason on why Ryan Reynolds quit after Deadpool 3 because even he thinks there's no real consequences in the MCU.
A RU-vidr named Fringy was the first one that I know of, that picked this movie apart. I thought I was one a few people that thought this was a terrible movie.
@Sdotty_sweep It is terrible. Always has been. It's lazy and poorly written. If people looked past the fan service, they would see it's an awful film, and a terrible ending. Caused a lot of the problems moving forward with phases 4 and 5.
I watched that one and he did a good job, but I'm surprised he didn't focus on how Endgame ruined Thor's character. It undid all the progress and growth from previous films. Made him act out of character. Didn't even let him finish his arc from the previous films.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp I agree with that, but I think he focused more on the time travel part of the movie. They kept setting up rules and breaking them throughout the movie.
Endgame didn't make it seem like things were urgent enough to use time travel. Compare it to Xmen Days of Future Past where the world is literally in ruin. Both mutants and humans are being hunted down. The Sentinels are an actual deadly threat to the Xmen. Time travel is their last resort. Meanwhile in Endgame, people are sad, but things aren't in ruin. People are fine after 5 years. Tony's retired, Hulk is a celebrity, Thor and friends are playing Fortnite. They developed systems to deal with the events of the blip. Even during the planning of the time heist everyone is just sitting around eating takeout. Did all the supervillains get snapped away? Why is nothing happening? Perhaps if they had used time travel a few weeks or months after everyone had been snapped away. Things would've been in ruin and felt more urgent. But they had them wait 5 years before actually coming up with a solution and it doesn't feel warranted.
Too me endgame always felt like that the movie was designed backward. Like that the first thing they came up with was the battle at the end and then designed the movie around that and then half way got tired, and when plotholes show up they said dont worry people are gonna love that battle though. One thing I never understood was why the battle was happening. The point is to keep the gaunlet away from Thanos but they have mages that could open a portal to anywhere in the galaxy and drop it there and pick it up later. They added stakes for no reason.
Agreed, would've been more interesting if instead of directly challenging them. Thanos separated them and teams have their own mission. With the original Avengers being the ones to face down Thanos and some of his henchmen. It could be sort of like a callback to the first Avengers final battle. Back when they actually had strategy and tactics instead of just running at each other.
I remember the girl power moment very well. It was a cringy out of the movie moment, that had me worried going forward(with good reason). We can see the slide into mediocrity starting right there...and then Eternals, the Marvels, Madame Web....Disney is now the reverse King MIdas...all they survey is wasteland.
Plus endgame started the trend of retiring characters you like with new ones who are unlikeable and annoying at worst and just boring and change just for the sake change at best
I grew tired of the whole nano-tech thing that infiltrated superhero movies. Part of the fun of Iron Man was the tech and gadgets; now it’s this magical anything-you-need mcguffin. I also hate that every masked and helmeted character must expose their face while entering a battle-exactly what you wouldn’t want to do! All for the actor’s ego and closeups.
I've been saying endgame sucks for years now. After the "high" of watching it wore off and I took the time to think about it I realized it sucked. It never should've been made and infinity war should've ended it. Time travel sucks and ruins a majority of shows/movies. Most of the time (no pun intended) it causes more questions than answers. Questions that will never get answers. Honestly the mcu should've taken a good 5-10 year break and started it back up again with either x-men or ff4.
After Infinity War ended I told my friend that there was no way they were sticking to that ending since it was actually good and that they were going to do the lazy time travel story for the next movie..
They should've used the Quantum Realm to enter the Soul Stone/Soul World instead. Have Tony, Scott, Wong, Mordo and Thor stick their heads together to gain access to that exotic realm. Some of the dusted would be so blissful, they'd refuse to leave, others are corrupted to the point of actively opposing their would-be-saviors; maybe throw in a sliver of Thanos' soul for good measure and even introduce Adam Warlock. Obviously don't simply bring everyone back but let most of the dusted stay dead, then take a 2-3 year break post-Endgame and recast everyone (with the possible exceptions of Cumberbatch, Hemsworth and Holland as variants of their respective characters) and peek into an as yet unexplored universe for another 10-12 years - that's how they should've implemented the multiverse concept btw: 10-12 years of Annihilation Wave, 10-12 years of X-Men vs. Avengers (as a culmination over how to handle Onslaught for example before which they'd have coexisted peacefully and even teamed up on several occasions), 10-12 years of Galactus & Doom, 10-12 years of a proper Kree/Skrull War + Secret Invasion adaptation etc.
I'm surprised they didn't use Vision as an Adam Warlock type character in Infinity War since he had one of the stones in his head. Though I guess I'm not that surprised. Russo's never knew what to do with that character, I mean in Civil War he does nothing.
I remember back in 2017 when Guardians 2 came out and everyone was talking about that one mid-credit scene that teased Adam Warlock. The general consensus was that Adam would play a major role in Avengers Infinity War simply because the comic it was adapting was Adam vs Thanos at the end of the day. Infinity War came out and Adam was nowhere to be seen, with Vision and Doctor Strange being an amalgamation of his character. Introducing Adam after killing off Thanos is not only a bad move but such a waste of a good plot.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp , Thanos's motivations in Infinity War was stupid though, and Cassandra Nova had a more convincing reason on why she's a villain than Thanos.
@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr in Infinity War at least it made enough sense to be taken seriously. Not the most interesting, but everything he did to achieve his goal was interesting. Cassandra Nova was such a boring villain. Only interesting because of her connection to Professor X. She didn't really do anything.
There’s also too much connections that people can’t just enjoy standalone stories because it has to connect to endless homework. Marvel isn’t accessible for normies anymore, probably never will again because of the MCU’s overwhelming state. That’s why Marvel needs a hard reboot, not a stupid soft reboot like James Gunn is doing with DC. Also we need some Marvel Elseworlds stories not connected to a larger universe and just focus on good storytelling and experimental stuff and don’t force you to watch other things to understand.
I've always felt Cap's ending makes no sense for his character, not after his arc from previous films. I don't like that they ignored a bunch of stuff they previously set up.
Endgame isn't a movie - its the last amazing amusement park roller coaster you take before driving home. Riding another smaller ride afterwards just ruins the experience
This one British RU-vidr called Uniquenameosaurus rewrote Endgame and ruined the movie for me. His fanfiction actually made the official product so anticlimactic. That speaks volumes.
Agree completely. Infinity War was the last great true MCU movie. Endgame was a let down in a bunch of ways with a few really solid crowd-pleasing moments. Time travel + multiverse + 4th wall breaking means nothing matters and it doesn't have to be taken seriously either.
Blade needs to not connect to the MCU and instead be set standalone. No multiverse crossover crap, not ties to other Marvel properties. Just a standalone Blade movie only about Blade. Blade needs to be set in its own universe.
Endgame is an amazing film. I loved the reconnection of Tony and Steve especially after their fallout, and bringing those who died from the snap. I will admit that bringing Thanos back was just plot armor, and this movie ultimately led to the downfall of most of the Avengers.
I think the main problem was that everything happened 5 years later. I think the plot should've taken place weeks or months after the first snap. Would've been more😮 interesting to see the fallout. Then they have to put their differences aside and reconnect because the world is in ruin. 5 years later things don't seem quite as urgent, and it's why I don't think the time travel was warranted. Sure people are sad, but they're not in ruin.
I thought marvel had been a dumpster fire since ironman 2, as soon as they announced they were doing a stupid multiverse thing by showing the shield being used to prop up a piece of a machine, i was out, superhero movies were done for me... multiverse for me automatically means "i can do whatever i want, and if people don't like something, i can just set the next movie in a new universe" it takes all risk out of everything and makes everything that happens from then on pointless because you can just reset everything in a new universe... why would i waste my time watching a show with a reset button? no risk, no reward.
Endgame was average. Definitely not the best movie. Hated fat Thor and simp Hulk. It could have been much better. Time travel is fine, but difficult. It could have been so much better
Disagree that it sucked. It should have been the end though. Story done, time line done. A few years break and then a complete recast and reimagining of the Avengers.
I’m curious, what are your thoughts on x-men days of future past compared to endgame with the way that movie handles time travel and it’s characters? For me the movie had stakes and expertly merged both generations of x-men together to great effect. It feels like the best climax the x-men ever got and I personally feel it’s better than endgame.
I keep revisiting Xmen Days of Future Past. They did such a good job wit time travel. It actually felt warranted because things were so urgent. Meanwhile in Endgame, Tony's retired, Hulk is a celebrity Thor and friends are playing Fortnite. Nothing is happening. Even during the planning fo the time heist, they're sitting around eating takeout. Did every Supervillain get snapped away? Xmen Days of future past is far superior to Endgame in every way.
Endgame always benifited and rested on the laurels of everything that had came before. I never considered it BAD but it was ALWAYS a letdown after Infinity war. All the problems from the video, add that to the complete nerfing of Thor, spending HUGE swaths of screentime explaining EXACTLY how this time travel DOES and DOESN'T work, only for it to still not make anything like sense, make this NOT the great movie it's sold as.
Deadpool wolverine movies introduced this anomaly person in each universe and if that character dies so does the universe, correct? So I guess after Thanos snap he didn’t kill the anomaly character 😂😂😂😂😂 😅 I wonder if he knew that , he could have easily destroyed everyone
Rhodie is rhodie in endgame. The swap happened between endgame and falcon and the Winter soldier. There's a deleted scene from falcon and the Winter soldier of rhodie talking to sam and it provides the clues that he was swapped. It's in that show when he stopped using robot legs. And that's because he was a scrull
I will still give the films a chance like rave new world thunderbolts I’ll watch at home , F4 I will try out , but I’ve given up on the shows I’m not keeping up with all that , not Agatha..she hulk, moon knight , iron heart none of those lol I’ve watched and will watch , why?then again the purpose of them is content off D+ but they should really treat it that way
So you didn't like endgame because of time travel? I mean, i have to admit, when i watched it in the theatre back in 2019 the concept did feel kinda weird and unoriginal but it it really didn't ruin it for me.
I heard people say that the avengers didn't need to collect every infinity stone, just the time stone and then use it to get the others, but realistically, the ability to control time makes you undefeatable unless you're fighting a person that possesses another ability that is just as overpowered (for example, omnipresence or super speed), so the time stone should've never existed in the MCU in the first place.
Infinity War was the last great marvel movie everything became a comedy after that and was not funny. They should do PG13 for the kids and an R for the adults more action less jokes
Agreed, it's like they wanted you to take Endgame seriously with the music and visuals, but then they kept making jokes. Turning everything into a joke just made me not take anything seriously.
Endgame has ALOT of plot holes the fact that you can change one little thing about it and the main villain straight up doesn't appear is insane, as for the multiverse stuff it was totally misused and way too heavily leaned upon, coupled with terrible shows and sequels and you get a disaster cake in your hands. Don't even get me started with the stupid multiverse rules they try to put in place to add stakes such as anchor beings and people who somehow dont have variants like America chavez, both of which go against the fundamentals of the multiverse. Clearly, they don't understand the function they are basing their saga at.
I get the Time Travel thing.. But I will never forget the feeling I had when watching Endgame in the cinema and I still get that same feeling when I watch it again. As for the multiverse I personally was interested in the idea of many different versions of our favourite characters brought onto the screen to go to battle and that's why I was looking forward to the Kang idea.. And coming off the high of Phase 3.. Loki S1 set it all up proper. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange essentially broke the stability of the multiverse BUT THEY WENT A DIFFERENT ROUTE and squandered all the potential they had.. Multiverse could have worked with a better team to write it
I'll never forget the feeling I had when they were planning the time heist. Absolute boredom. Things didn't feel urgent enough to warrant the use of time travel. They were just sitting around feeling sad. Nothing was happening. Did all the supervillains get snapped away?
I don't understand the complain about the multiverse almost All attempt in the movies of the multiverse for marvel have been succesful - spiderman noway home - dr strange mom ( mid but not aweful) - deadpool and wolverine Now there is ant-man but is it really a multiverse movie? Flash was a misfire but it's Dc Loki's tv show s1and s2 seem bo have pleased most people Spiderman into the multiverse was frkn awesome like ... Really So where is the problem ?
An argument can be made that you're right - it's successful But the same jokes Deadpool was making as well as this channel which, I like to think a lot of others do too is the fact that it's becoming over saturated. Doctor Strange MoM also sucked because their whole shtick of multiverse involved only 2-3 that are of importance. Spider-Man No Way Home was sold primarily on the notion of returning casts Loki was genuinely fun because that WAS the plot - it was a series that was able to bank on the multiverse because it can drag on and take itself seriously Essentially, we can and do understand that movies like these CAN work, and bring in a lot of money as consumers still consume Marvel - but it does get boring fast when it's the whole thing that they're doing at every turn.
@@eugenerevaula3874 but that's the thing , they are NOT doing it at every turn Remember You had , thor love and thunder, chang chi, black widow, the eternals, the marvels The problem with dr strange is that they didn't exploit a much larger multiverse , in fact people wanted more multiverse in that movie Again what if s1 and s2 people kinda liked it and it's the multiverse like i just ... Falcon wintersoldier, moon knight, miss marvel, she hulk, wandavision, secret invasion Sure most of these suck but they weren't the multiverse But the multiverse projectd didn't suck that much they made money and it's once all the two moon , like ... Really?
@@buki3009 Okay so we got those movies you mentioned - but when they don't work out MONEY-wise (which seems to be your main argument) they immediately go for a multiverse segment. I can't necessarily put in What-If as a focus as that's Marvel branching out from their main-line of live action series. But series-wise? Falcon / Winter Soldier tried to do something different, I liked it. Moon Knight was okay (in my book) - Miss Marvel and She Hulk however, a bit questionable in quality. Wandavision was not for everybody - I liked it but the payoff we got in Doc Strange MoM is not fun. Secret invasion was a travesty in writing. If you really want to know what I love about the series, it's literally Daredevil. But sure man, you're not necessarily wrong that as a corporation, Disney / Marvel will be all about money. But some fans including me, are not satisfied with what they're putting out. By the simple fact that you name dropped some of their not so successful works means that consumer-wise? Some people are not happy. We're the consumers - we've a right to criticize what they're selling because we're the ones giving the money by buying. You give people what they want - Deadpool and Wolverine are electrifying especially actor wise. The Multiverse was a plot device and never the narrative - we were invested in the idea of Ryan Reynolds being the character beside the legendary Hugh Jackman. The movie never took itself too seriously. MoM, for example, failed in that regard as it falsely advertised the scope of what Multiverses have to do with the movie. So yeah dude, I suppose all I'm trying to say is it was never about to money for fans like me. It may be for Disney / Marvel, but we say it how it is.
“Re-form the line!” Aaaaah you recalled Ride of the Rohirrim when they have nearly finished massacring the orcs, feeling job well done, then their glasses of water start to vibrate, they reluctantly turn around and see that the line of mumakil just showed up. Heeey do you think George Lucas used the mumakil as inspiration for ATATs? Now I have to rewatch LOTR and SW OT! 🙏🌿🧝♂️💚
