Welcome to a podcast, where we discuss the reasons why even the top competitive programmers fail to get a job. In this episode, we have a special guest joining us, Mr. Parikh Jain, who is an ex Founding member at Coding Ninjas and has extensive experience in the tech and education industry.
We all know that the world of programming is highly competitive, and many talented individuals spend countless hours sharpening their skills to excel in coding contests and challenges. However, despite their exceptional abilities, some of these programmers still struggle to land a job in the tech industry. Together with Parikh sir, we explore some of the common reasons why this happens. We delve into the importance of soft skills, such as communication and teamwork, and how these can make a big difference in a job interview.

Key Mistakes made by Competitive Programmers during interview. 1.Have good communication skills as they play a crucial role while explaining a solution. 2.Don't be arrogant of your rating, respect the interviewer and use simple Data structures if possible. 3.Solve a DSA sheet to get familiarized with different data structures such as linked list and binary trees etc (Striver's list preferred) 4.Know the underlying working for your implementations and Data Structures as CP people get used to using templates, lol. 5.Luck might not favour you, but over the course of multiple interview you will eventually get lucky, Correct me if I have missed any points, thank you. (Agar grammatical mistake mile to samaj jana, cp karta hu.)

I finally reach candidate master on codeforces alone after practice more then 2200+ problem on codeforces Kunal kushwaha says don't do cp everyone say different on their is experience but after grinding to much cp I say cp change the way of thinking of person first dsa become so easy to person that you can solve a completely new problem in interview and a person who just do leetcode or standard dsa question they struggle on it and also standard dsa are just cramming also after doing of cp I say other field like web dev or any other field in tech your way of learning changes very much you don't do work just for saking of doing it so i can cp helps me to improve alot me in my thinking process also in one your video u say u start cp just to go in foobar club of iiit Delhi i also start cp to satisfy my ego that how other person are good then me and i am not

@PriyanshAgarwal
@PriyanshAgarwal Год назад
preferably do it in just one language only... if you've done DSA in Java, then just stick to Java for CP too.

I don't get it. Why no point about development is being discussed? Do people really think coding or inside a job is only about doing DSA/cp ?
@PriyanshAgarwal
@PriyanshAgarwal Год назад
Well this video was about why Top Competitive Coders don't get a job, clearly this wasn't about if CP/DSA is relevant at a job or not.
@techlogger
@techlogger Год назад
@@PriyanshAgarwal Yes, you are correct, but my point is still Valid somehow. People often focus solely on grinding CP /DSA, creating a scenario where these are the only thing in computer science. They tend to overlook other crucial aspects such as system designs, computer science fundamentals, working on projects, and contributing to open-source projects. I believe that during interviews, these things also matter (along with DSA ofc) and this can also be a reason for not getting selected in interviews. While I do enjoy working on DSA, we shouldn't overlook the fact that the primary purpose of DSA is to implement better solutions in software development. Thus, completely neglecting the development aspect is not a good approach. What are your thoughts on this matter 🐈?
