TO THOSE CONSIDERING LEAVING: Try to stick it out. Raleigh isn’t the issue. It’s 🗑️ everywhere right now. lol I understand most of the reasons listed, but most weren’t an issue for me coming from a very small town. It really was the rapidly rising day-to-day cost of living coupled with with missing the beach and my family. From 2016-2020, my rent jumped drastically in Raleigh compared to where I was living before (Charleston, SC). Also, the culture was very different even though I only moved one state away. Lastly, the cost of transportation. It’s more expensive to maintain a car in NC (registration fee, state inspection, more expensive gas, more expensive insurance rates). As I always say in my comments though, it wasn’t as bad as it seemed then though. I’d gladly move back. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, in my opinion.
I lived in NYC, ATL, DC, and Philadelphia and I was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. Raleigh isn’t some big huge city. However, it is diverse and has a lot to offer. I don’t drive, however, I’m getting a driver's license so I can enjoy the area more. I feel like someone can move here and start a business and help build the culture. Another great video ! Thanks!
Naw there are some crazy bugs here. I moved from OH and only seen an occasional spider, ants, normal stuff. NC got more bugs and snakes. It’s taking me getting used to but I’m not leaving because of it just gotta get pest control Lol
I love Raleigh. And so do many of my former coworkers who moved down here from the Northeast. But like you said, it really is about what the person is used to and what they're looking for. I find that Raleigh has a lot to do and I don't even have the time to partake in all of it LOL. Agree that public transportation is horrible though, and so are NC allergies. Durham has the same issues. Good job on really providing a balanced commentary!
Great video man! Believe it or not most of these negatives are actually positives for me and the reason I chose Raleigh. excited to see it Continue to grow to see where it’s going to be in five years, but I love it so far.
The energy is dry, small and most jobs don’t pay well that is why it is or was cheap. Because all the people moving there it is no longer cheap but just as expensive as the big cities that have great jobs and culture as well. The pandemic hyped this place up… because they did not have extreme Covid rules.

The jobs don't pay well here, especially coming from a big Midwest city. Don't get me started on the drivers ..... people drive crazy here!! There are so many accidents it's ridiculous.
@@LivinginRaleigh When comparing Chicago/ Detroit and some of their surrounding suburbs, Raleigh is catching up for sure. Now Illinois has high property taxes and some areas are waaay overpriced, but Raleigh is getting just as expensive but keeping salaries lower. I have a friend that moved here from NY that says the same. The weather is much better than the Midwest for sure, and the state is growing, but they need to pay workers more. How do they expect people to afford the rent for all these overpriced luxury apartments they are building?
