Why Everyone Loves Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 

Just wanted to say - sorry this video took so long! I forgot how much content was in this game and i wanted to make sure i did it justice. Let me know what you guys think! Also, new video ideas are always appreciated

This game has real aura, and aura to me has to do with mystique. When I was a kid, I would play through each story countless times trying to discover secret stuff. There was no feeling like finding a "???" spot and not have it be just some random capsule you already got 50 times. Getting to Broly or Shenron was epic because I could never figure out what triggered it in order to replicate it. I could also never remember on Namek which dot was Frieza, which was Cooler, and which was Vegeta as a Super Saiyan. It somehow never occurred to me to look things up on the internet, I guess because I only did that when I was stuck at a specific point in a game and couldn't progress. I personally love that the story does not strictly follow the canon. Everybody knows what happens in DBZ, let's spice things up. The What-Ifs actually show deeper knowledge and love for the canon than a simple retelling would. For the longest time I went without unlocking Dragon Arena and when I did it felt like I discovered a whole new world. This game's mysteries really captured my imagination. Even things like what the next super expensive capsule in the shop would be. I probably feel this way because in most other games you effortlessly get everything as you go through it, while here it felt like I had to earn every bit of progression. I never actually got that good at the gameplay since I suck at fighting games, but it was always fun. I do prefer BT3, but B3 is definitely special and incredibly nostalgic.

Dragon Rush was the best thing in game Allowing chance to escape or dodge while providing visual effects making it more like a actual anime series

Really thinking about getting a PlayStation 2

My one and only gripe is dragon rush. It's all luck and no skill

This game is so innovative and has the genuine heart to the source material. Sadly newer games lack these kind of charms.

First of all, you earned a new sub. Wow, so many good memories of this game, like many i grew up with DB and DBZ, i remember back in 2004 when it came out my late father(R.I.P) went out of his way to get me an original copy on christmas and i spent the entire summer break playing through the story mode, It blew my mind(and a controller) when i unlocked Broly and Omega Shenron. Later on with everything unlocked i would gather a few friends after school and host tournaments or just mess around and create what if scenarios on the Versus Mode, it was a blast. I still got the copy around and occasionally i boot up just to remember the good old days. Hard to believe this was 20 years ago... On my personal opinion, even with all it's flaws Budokai 3 will aways be the best Dragon Ball Z game of all time. The amount of detail and attention it's just perfect, might be my nostalgia talking, but i don't care.

Budaki 3 was fire the dragon rush was not the best but the ultimate attacks was and is still the best of all time even how they expanded on vegetas big bang attack fire

3:41 oof. I loved flying around on these maps, it really added so much feel to the world of DBZ.

Id do anything to see this come out modernized. Arguable best fighting game of all time.

I had always loved dbz and fighting games in general. I remember the first time I played this in a friends house and it was the most intense and fun time playing a game. Budokai 2 was my first real dbz game and this was my dream back then.

Budokai 3 only has two problems. Dragon rush spam, and transformation skills. Goku: kioken is needed to use ssj 1, ssj 1 is needed for ssj2, ect. That goes for all characters with transformations. Also I'm pretty sure ssj 3 is weaker than the other forms. Yea you can use potential unlocked. But it isn't as strong as using other capsules in combination

Infinite World (Budokai 4) is way better. More characters, better capsule system, mini games, open areas, better story, actual cinemas, and NO DRAGON RUSH.

You can also fight Omega Shenron in Uub’s story. And some others going off the beaten path.

Yeah best gameplay outthere in DBZ games. Still some people practicing and playing a lot today with online emulator. Even organizing tournament.

What i like about it was the rewards you get when replaying dragon universe, although you can fly around the map and can't ascend or descend you can still land on a landmark and encounter something random weather it's a bag of zeni, dragon scouter or an event that lets you unlock extra characters.

Infinite World basically has the best budokai combat imo, but b3 still holds a special place in my heart

If everybody loves it so much why are we still getting Tenchaichi?? Like bro wtf and Xenoverse both being out at the same time I will never understand how we didnt get another Budokai Fighterz was relaly good but still not Budokai

Best budokai game by far, infinite world cannot compare to this master piece, basically IW is the baby version of b3, making everything so much easier. I cannot express into words how much I love this game, I have dedicated an incredible amount of time tot his game, if you have any chance can you check the documentary I did about this game, I hope you will like it

Infinite Worlds is better, but it really hurts it that they removed the power struggle and Cell Jr.

I loved all the dbz games and playing with my brother made them that much better because we helped each other beat the game. Most importantly we played against each other and that was very fun.

DBZ Budokai 3 is the best Budokai video game because like DBZ Budokai 1 and 2, Budokai 3 had breakthrough capsules which allowed all of the in-game fighters to use all of their attacks and the breakthough capsules would max out the in-game fighters' health bars. In the later Budokai games, the breakthrough capsules were removed completely.

Dragonballz kakarot has many budokai references

Only thing that let’s it down for me is the dragon rush. If a full combo it takes ages and breaks the pace of fights without fail.

Just replayed 1 in Japanese first time. Going through 2 again also in Japanese and I can definitely say I see why I enjoyed 1 when it came out but the jump in how much fun I've had with the game from 1 to 2 is pretty insane. I actually like the board game style story mode and having access to characters/moves that shouldn't even be there its definitely more fresh than the non-stop replay of the story as is. Once I'm done with 2 I'll jump into 3 and see how much I like it in comparison. The end of story mode in 2 and seeing that goofy ass fusion of Yamcha and Tien was pretty funny and something I completely forgot about. Lol...

I dont think you mentioned the cancel system which is the singular thing that puts Budokai on the map. You might want to bring that system up as its the difference between getting done with a button mashing mess and actually playing the game long term. Its why the entire hyper mode system is complete trash since doing 2 bars of heath in damage is trivial when you know what you are doing and not commiting suicdee via idiot mode

I prefer Tenkaichi 3 but don't disparage people who prefer Budokai 3. I think it just depends if you prefer 2.5D or 3D fighters.

I always wondered when I was younger what did tm or the circle r by they name means ?

the game is good, but even back then when 3 dropped me and many other of my friends did not like 3 as much as 2... this was a common thought back then and still is now. but if there was any game they had that was considered to be a favorite it was budokai 2, or budokai ten 2/3.

Dragonrush is the worst thing about this Game. And that's the only real negative xD fortunately Infinite World took this Rock-Paper-Scissors-thing out.
