As much as I love watching farming simulator I'm glad I love out in the country where I get to see the real life version. The one reason I like farming simulator is it gives the chance to people who aren't born into a farming family
I kinda get the idea of farming because my family has a few different farms but I don’t live on them I just grow to huge gardens and and call myself a farmer and I also play fs
Worst harvester in the series Remove the outer body Put someone in the back for handling the harvested grain That is the most tech farm equipment i Saw around here
I grew up on a farm, and I’ve still managed to play it for 455 hours in about 4 months. I miss working on farms and fs22 gives me the option to do just that.
This was definitely the best way to explain farm sim, I'm a full blown city boy who came across farming simulator on a whim, back in 2017 the psn had it on for 1.99 so I downloaded it not thinking I would actually enjoy it. Fast forward to 2022 I've turned into a farming nut, even moved out of the city to be closer to the pure serenity that is a farm. Keep making the fun and informative content Jake 💪
Little personal history: I work in the 3D market today because of this game I started playing in the 2009 version and got quite curious about the modding side of it, kinda played around with the map editor but nothing else. But them i touched the 2011 version and it was amazing, learned how to properly make a 3d model, got in touched with the brazilian mod community and did a bunch of friends in the way, because of this game i got in love with 3D moddeling and i loved every second of it.
It's the same reason why I love ETS2 so much. I go in there to *truly* relax. The monotony of driving through the countrysides gives me a sense of peace and slows it down from life or other games.
Farming simulator is a great game because it isn’t like FPS were there are scum-bugs all over it gives you a chase in a never ending realistic world, and making the best of friends in the world.
Farming simulator is an amazing game. Nothing better than putting on a podcast and getting to work on your farm. My family owned a farm when I was kid but unfortunately sold it before I could get old enough to really work it, now I just help out local farmers on the busy days.
*based off a true story* My friend: What even is farming simulator? It seems boring that all you do is farm. Me: you wouldn’t understand unless you’ve played it
I played Farming Simulator 2013 a lot, it indirectly made me interested in agriculture and I studied a grad diploma in agricultural engineering for a year. Didn't turn it into a career but it gave me something to do during the covid pandemic and learned a lot from it.
There is no other game that I can play for 5 hours straight, wake up and do it all over again. as an example I had 136 hours in lone oak in fs19. I feel like in fs22 I can double that.
Those are some good hours, i had a safe where i started from 0 and tractor on felsbrunn and just did silage eventuallt i got myself a case pume fully upgraded with something like 200 houra on the safe the tractor i bought before the puma had 60 hours of usage on it
And thata juts one save it actually so happens that my father likes this game a lot so he plays aa well over all i think there is 1500h of playtime on fs19 on my account
I actually farm in real life. Went to college and studied Agriculture Science, specializing in Horticulture and Crop Science. I gotta say Farming Simulator 2022 is pretty realistic according to modern day Agriculture. Sure there’s more than what the game offers but it has a pretty good grasp on it overall.
I remember my brother buying FS2011 and it came with 2 disks. One was the actual game, and the other contained all the tools you would need as a modder. They really pushed modding from the early and it is the thing that keeps the game interesting. like I would not have still played it if I couldn't download all the machines we have at the farm in real life.
I never would have thought about buying a farming simulator title, but I had games pass, and a broken ankle. I had nothing but time on my hands. I saw Farm sim 19 in gamespass and thought, "well, how boring could it be?". I was one of those people that downloaded it as a meme, only to find out I actually enjoyed it. I love the business side of the game, and I'm always striving to buy that next piece of equipment, or that next field. It is a surprisingly satisfying and calming game. I never in a million years thought I'd enjoy a farming game, but damn, I can't deny that I do 😂
I played the first Farming Simulator when I was about 8-10 years old and damn this game was amazing for me back then. No idea why, nowadays i have no interest whatsoever in games like these but damn did the one scene of the first one hit home.
Thanks for covering a game I love so dearly. It IS such a meme, even telling people you play it. But I tell people it's cheaper than blood pressure meds (and arguably more effective). After a long day of work, there's nothing like throwing on some old school country and driving a tractor you can't afford. :) Cheers and thank you again.
My dad worked on the farm for 20 years, now in computer IT. He's amazed by some aspects of the game. And even my cousins who are farmers themselves even play it. My dad and I play it together, he's shown me tips that he learnt from time working on the farm
That JD American farmer music beings back some childhood memories that's for sure. Grew up on a farm and it's in my blood, my most played franchise by far and been playing since fs11. I love it
Great video explaining where we’ve come from and where we are with the limitless of the future ahead of us. I started with Drive Green, put it down and then picked up farming simulator 17 and started playing it with my daughter. She’s was 11 back then now we spend a a night a week playing around. It’s just us, no boyfriend, or other interruptions. Her biggest complaint is she has been hoping for goats and keeps being disappointed. Dunno why she wants goats so bad 😂. I’d say we could use some tree crops like apples, Cherry’s, walnuts etc… maybe some new animals like goats, rabbits, etc… for raising of course 😂😂
First time i played Farming simulator was when it was free on Playstation plus monthly games, tried it just for the fun and actually enjoyed so much that i got all the DLCs and spent hours playing it
I love how Giants encourages modders to chime in. I love opening up the mod hub to discover the gaming gods have dropped new mods. All in all, it’s one of the most relaxing games out there, while being fun. I live in a rural area and I love how it hits.
I played sim farm and American farmer in middle school and high school. Then I got my first laptop. A buddy and I where walking though a store and saw FS2011. We split the cost, bought the CD, and went to his place with my computer to try it out. After about 4 hours of playing, I gave him the other half of the cost of the game. We then went back and he bought himself a copy. Been hooked ever since.
To be honest, I have played FS17 and a bit FS19 on multiple platforms. As someone who hasn't done much multiplayer FS17, for me it is still my favorite, most nostalgic game to this day. The soundtrack is pure gold and I agree that mods greatly improve the experience. I think what makes farming simulator so relaxing and fun to play endlessly is: You can choose what to do, there isn't really a story or defined path to follow. Having an almost infinite amount of mods and normal vehicles and buildings to choose from. And being able to take your hands off the controller or keyboard and come back after an hour without losing what you spent your time on. If you don't feel like spending 3 hours harvesting a potato field, you can buy or borrow harvester(s) and let npc's do the job for you.
For a game with such a seemingly restrictive concept, it's amazing how many different directions you can take it in. If you want to take the game totally seriously, budget your spending and toil year round to turn a profit, you can. If you want to cheat in a ton of money, buy the biggest tractor in the game and make crop circles, you can do that, too. Plus, in a sea of games where your main objective is to kill as many people as possible, simulators in general are a breath of fresh air.
I play Farming Sim with my dad. It brought us together and we have a bunch of fun on it. I also still play it for the appreciation and the mods and funny stuff that happens.
I have been addicted to this game since I got it. I have no idea what I'm doing but this game is teaching me how to farm how equipment works. I love it.
In my opinion, in recent years, they have given players tons and tons of freedom. The ability to hook up as many trailers as your device could handle, being able to do just about what ever you wanted is really what sets it apart from other games. The maps have little to no invisible walls other than the outside border. FS19 is my favorite. The UI is very easy to use, the graphics are really good, and the amount of mods made for all platforms. FS22 still has some tweaking needed. But it's the player freedom given by the devs. If FS was made by any other dev, we wouldn't be able to have maybe no more than 3 trailers hooked up at a time. And mods would only be on PC
I've never had any interest in farming.. AT ALL. But I've always been a big gamer, but needed something new, so I downloaded FS22 with a few friends and absolutely fell in love with it.. It's such an awesome relaxing game. Just plowing my field, listening to some music after a hard day at work. Flipping awesome..
I was given this game as a gift. It sat unused for over a year. Then one night I was bored and started it up. I have been hooked ever since. While I can enjoy a good FPS game, they all tend to end up blending together since so many FPS are similar in concept. FS is freeing. It presents loads of challenges without the bullets and grenades.
Me and my friends love spending time on farming simulator 19. We live in an South African Farming town where we get to see the tractors from the game. Most of the farm machines here are New Holland and AGCO. My favorite farm machines brand is New Holland.
I knew an adult who played a lot of farming sim 2011 when I was younger and I absolutely loved it just bc of doing stupid stuff, while that guy actually took it seriously xD
The crazy thing is, my friend got me to buy FS about 2 weeks ago, and i was like “okay, ill play it multiplayer with him and then never boot it up again, i put 60 hours into it (with a full time job), it just be hittin different
I love the John Deere, American farmer game, it and Cabelas Big Game hunter were two of my “go to” games back in the day. I’m quite enjoying FS 22 as well.
I foresee Satisfactory quickly gaining traction after its full release, and becoming the new close contender to farm sims. If some of the modders would pay attention, they could be using Farming Simulator as a platform for a very close competitor, and opening the genre up to a considerably sized player base. A ton of Satisfactory players have been asking for farming options, terrain editing, and a generally more realistic world/environment to play. Modders have answered a lot of these requests... but I see a huge opportunity here. Incorporating factory building and mass manufacturing operations to Farming Simulator's platform, which already includes these features, would be awesome.
I had the FS 17, skipped 19, and joined with 22 again. I am that kind of player, who plays the game, while watching a movie or series on second screen. I am very interested in how the machines work. All the moving parts. FS gives me an overview, and when i have found something very impressive, i search on YT, how that works in RL, and i am impressed, that so many machines do their jobs without any space tech. For example a baler. Its nearly completly mechanical. No fancy electronics. And sorry, i don't play multiplayer. I just want to have some fun with heavy machinery.
Farm Sim is the epitome of comfy gaming. It helps me wind down after work and has become the center of gravity, around which, all other games I play orbits. Farm sim "hits" as you say because, we all desire a more simple life and to reconnect with nature. You pointed out that only 2% of people are involved in farming, but 3 generations age it was more like 60 to 70% depending on what part of the world you're in.
I started to play the game because it was suggested to me by the RU-vid algorithm and it was free with PlayStation plus so I tried it out and fell in love with the game and about one and a half years I started creating farming simulator RU-vid videos and I still love the game and I can confirm that the community does indeed keep the game alive.(I’ve tried to make a mod map as well but never finished it)
I poured absurd amounts of time into farming sim over the years, both on pc and mobile. I can effortlessly spend hours a day without even noticing while playing the game with over 150 mods. I already have... probably few hundred or thousand ours in it, without even thinking twice to do it again. I always enjoyed and will enjoy playing farming sim. A great game for people who want something relaxing, and where they can do whatever they please.
For me its even better when I boot up the game and just look at different kinds of machinery. Since I work as a welder atm and make cultivators and subsoilers and such. So Its fun to compare and look at the differences in design. And I just think this franchise is one of the best sandboxes out there. Because of its mods.
Dude the part where u were talking abt 98% of people not knowing how food is made is spot on. I’m a farm boy from the panhandle of Texas and our town is made of pretty much all corn. People don’t think we grow their food bc they don’t eat grain corn, but we grow the corn that feeds cows they eat. Otherwise this is a great vid and u earned my sub!! Keep it up!
Ah yes,i remember this game when probably nobody outside of germany knew about it and the early days of FS,probably made by just few people,we used to play it on school computers in school back then in 2007 or 08.Impressive how giants software evolved
I started playing farming sim last year when I downloaded fs19. I live in Ireland and it’s actually really popular here because farming is like culture here
It’s peaceful, there’s nobody trying to kill or hurt me. There is a skill learning curve, but it’s not ridiculously steep for the majority of tasks. I can just listen to some Drachiniefel whilst harvesting potatoes or chopping down trees. How many other games are truly relaxing?
Spot on with driving the equipment, its why I started to play. I stayed for the management aspect and the fact that the game is as relaxing as mowing the lawn (imo).
The appealing aspect to me is starting a business from the bottom, and getting to a point where you are successful and paying employees like a true business owner. The best part about that climb, to me, is the ability to completely build a farm how you want. It's literally like a land development sim. Buying huge plots of empty land, mowing the grass, plowing new fields, build warehouses, storage sheds, garages, buildings, etc.
I'm not playing this game anymore since its a thing of the past but I grew up farms my whole life and spend probably thousands of hours of my childhood playing FS 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015 I loved doing stupid long harvesting jobs. Most friendships didnt end that well being made and the local community was a bit toxic, maybe if I wasnt so involved in the community I would still be playing it. I'm now more personally more in to photography and maritime stuff I love the sea way more then land, a maritime career isnt in there for me due to a light physical condition I have and I just simply can't handle that.
Just in case you are wondering, why the 2008 Version of farming simulator is often called "Landwirtschafts simulator" The Game was originally created by a German and because of that, a lot of early footage of it is in German. Landwirtschaft is the German word for farming
I have so many memories of the very early FS games, I think mainly 2009 as I remember finding the perfect custom map for it and I just had a blast playing it at the time. I think it all started from finding John Deere Drive Green, and I have no idea how I found that game but that lead me to FS2008 and it was a huge leap from whatever that mess was
I tried out FS19 when the pandemic started just as a joke.. Now I'm at almost 2000 hours on FS19 and FS22 combined and have also decided to take up a college course on Agricultural Business.. welp
I got farming sim 15 for my ps3 when it came out, I had no clue if it was good or not, but I saw it in the gaming section in Walmart and decided to get it, I got hooked on the game and now have played every game they’ve released since then lol
I grew up watching The Squad and then me and a group of friends started getting more people in our school to play and we had a club like thing goin on, man i feel old just looking back on the old fs vids on RU-vid and playing the game with my friends. It truly is a part of my childhood
You woke up a deep & almost forgotten memory when you mentioned the 2004 John Deer farming game. Like my brain was immediately flooded with nostalgia the moment I heard the music & seen the game play
One important aspect is that the game lets the player do whatever they want. When a sandbox game is unique and well made, it’s very likely to become really popular and successful
Unpopular opinion: Giants Software needs to add a Canadian Map, and more map creators need to make more. (I am aware of the current Canadian map available on all platforms) If your a map creator, please make one base in the province of Alberta.
I totally agree with you FS is a very different kind of game. I started playing in early 2010s and it quickly took 50% of my gaming time away from EVE and Elite Dangerous and now that the last 2 games went to pay to win FS was the only game I played. And it's very close to reality more than most other games
This video just popped up in my recommended so I'm watching it almost a year after it was released. Everything you stated was absolutely true. I really only play simulation based games such as flight sim, truck sim and of course farm sim. The absolute variety which farm sim brings to the table is unique to the others. Yes, I can fly different types of aircraft in flight sim to add variety and somewhat the same with truck sim between ETS2 and ATS. But farm sim beats the other two genres in the variety dept. for all the reasons you mentioned. Unfortunately for all the awesome things you discussed about why farming simulator is as popular as it is, there is also a growing dark side to it as well. Like most things in the world around us, one can apply the 80/20 rule to farm sim as well. Meaning for the most part everything about the supporting communities are good. But unfortunately over the years (and it really seems to be much worse in the past few years) there seems to be a lot of hate being thrown around within both the creator and modding communities. As I'm sure most who play farm sim and enjoy mods are aware that we continue to lose talented modders, or force these talented modders to only create private mods. This hurts the entire community. People who have no skill for converting mods will take existing mods and do a half-hearted attempt at converting and then upload them to these vile sites just to make a few bucks. The content creating community isn't immune either to the growing darker side of things. Again, while certainly the smaller percentage applies....in the past there have been some of the larger channels creating an environment of hate towards smaller, newer content creators by encouraging their larger viewer communities to attack the smaller channels. Just like the TV set, if you don't like what is showing, turn the dial.
Also important factor is freedom, possibility to be creative, manage farm, work on it, or just relax and have fun. Moreover, it just never get boring due to lack of any goal set by developers, no winning factor, multiple ways to make money and develop your farm.
Great video,I also love the crazy mod at 8:57 ;) I have grow distant from the creators over the years, but this video reminded me of the cycle of life. I still think we all should be helping each other grow. Much love
Imagine if Giants was able to use the actual world like flight Sim did, and being able to have like an actual farm, if you have one, being able to use and make your actual own irl farm into the game.
What I feel like makes FS great as well, is the fact that one Giants also kind of listens to the Community, and two it is a low entery. The game it self isnt that expensive, dont get me wrong it isnt cheap but you get the point. And most computers can handle the game, and because there isnt much action playing at 20FPS on a integrated graphics is good enough to excel at the game.
as a person that doesnt really care about farming I just had to get farming 22 as the coop looked way to funny. and really its addicting as hell. I love it.
I grew up playing in the cane fields of South Louisiana. I've been a ag equipment nut my whole life. Can't imagine how many hours I've put into it since FS 15.
I found farming simulator when my favorite creators Neebs gaming played Ranch simulator. Not taking it at all seriously and joking around but I was thinking in my head how cool it would be to start from nothing and build a giant farm. So then I set out looking for the best game of this type, and as soon as I saw mods were a part of farming simulator I had to have it. I played over 3,000 hours of Kerbal Space Program and 2,900 of those hours were because of mods
My story with Farming Sim is probably like most others. Originally, i thought, "what a silly idea, a game about farming? sounds boring" Even though some of my family are actually farmers and i respect what they do and have even helped them. Then one day i saw the game being advertised and decided to just check out what its like to play. so started watching RU-vid vids on what it was like. And surprisingly it looked kinda fun. The more i watched, the more i got sucked into that rabbit hole and wanted to try it. I eventually came across a video of them playing on Console, which i had, so i was like "screw it, im hooked, let me try this thing and see what the fuss was about". So i headed to my local Gamestop and picked up a used copy of Farming Simulator 15 (ironically the customer in front of me was buying the same game and was a trucker who wanted something to unwind while in between hauls, coincidence right?). Got home popped it into my Xbox 360 and at first, wasnt super impressed with the single player, it was cool, but wasnt too sure. That all changed when i hopped onto Multiplayer. I started to meet so many fun and interesting people. Farms with tons of equipment. Tasks i was given to do to help them out. A sense of purpose and belonging. Tips and tricks to help my own farm. It just felt fun, relaxing and engaging all at once. And ever since then, i've been hooked. i've gotten every FS title since and its only gotten better and better. What started off as a goof purchase turned into a new love. So to anyone thinking about this game, its true not to judge a book by its cover. Its so much more than just a Sim about Farm Equipment, its a social gathering place to just unwind with your friends after a long stressful day when a aggravating heart pounding FPS isnt what you need.
I love the fs22 because I can drive around with big machinery from my own home. Plus, I don't have to smell the cow pies just when you though the air was suppose to be fresh air... Bettis what have you been eatting... Personally, I like making money, playing for the fun of it and driving the big tractors. It is so realistic. My only heart felt wish is that every single farm company that makes the real tractors, equipment etc would be available on fs22 and all fs games moving forward.
I play warzone completely for wagers it’s my sole income and has payed for my car house and life so far but when I get done with warzone I play farm sim and it no cap chills me right out
