Firefox Multi-Account Containers are great for separating your online life. Login to multiple accounts on a single website at the same time, protect yourself against tracking, hide and show entire groups of tabs and sort them by container with one click.

I learned about Firefox multi-account container here from you. Now, I use them exclusively. Containers are the best thing since sliced bread.

great video and helps categorizing of tabs. I like how I can easily put away all of my shopping tabs and research tabs and come back to them tomorrow. Makes it much more organized that 3 chrome windows and CTRL + Shift + T everytime I turn on my PC.

I love how firefox was so bloated in the last version, to the point that even a preferred firefox user like me just gave up on it and went to Chrome for about a year until Quantum was introduced. That they came back took inspiration from Chrome BUT then also really considered what the flaws of the other browsers were and how they could do better. One of which was the clear separation of browser use for personal and work use plaguing most browser users who needed Google services. Good job firefox. I used to have an firefox extension that did just that. It separated tabs into groups using a square icon template, you drag and drop into groups you edit every-time you open the browser. I don't know if it was by chance, but one day that add-on was removed. That was quite some years ago. And now firefox has taken this concept and re-introduced. Much better as well might I say.

Also, there is an add-on that forked the Multi-Account Containers, it's called "Google Containers" which automatically isolates all of your google activity for you. It's not officially from Mozilla but it works the same way.

If I open a new a TAB, I am not logged to my google account by default. So why should I create a google container for this? What is the difference?

I'd appreciate your opinion as I'm stuck on making a tough decision. I'm looking for an optimal web browser set up for maximum online privacy. I'm debating which of these 3 options is best. The first option is using 4 different web browsers, 1 for each (email, banking, shopping and general web browsing). Option 2 is using Firefox exclusively and having 4 different user profiles set up. Option 3 is to use just 1 Firefox user profile and create "containers". I love firefox and really prefer option 3 best then option 2 because it would be great using 1 browser. However, I'm thinking it will not offer the most security against fingerprinting and tracking. I'm new to all this and would greatly appreciate your suggestions!

The thing is that google still see the IP your coming from with or without loging into google account and match the results with your account and no account because its coming from same ip. They have gazillion ways to identify what you're doing while using their "services". Even while on a VPN.

Very good extension, however the problem is more and more sites, especially news sites force people to login with their Facebook/Google account, in which case the user is back at square 1.

make fake accounts, use a vpn. Stick that in a container and bob is your uncle ... btw you should be using fake accounts for anything that does not need the real you specifically. EG .. on facebook I am a member of brewing and photography groups. I use an "alt" account for this purpose. PS on News accounts ... get uMatrix extension and learn how it works, there are tubes of course. It will show News pages are some of the worst trackers and defilers of your data out there. Giving them your real identity is crazy. uMatrix fixes all this.

What i found is that unless I am logged into google when searching something. That thing will somehow still find out what country I am fron and display native results. Who needs native results. Also how come I search in english or German and it still display it in my native language (not these two) ...

my guess is that pcs turn on location tracking by default so your local region shouldnt be hard to find out
@myron7642
@myron7642 3 года назад
Google Search determines your general location through your IP address and displays the page in the language of that region. However, the search results' language is based on the language that you typed your search query in. Rant: While all browsers actually specify a default language, Google Search just decides to ignore it, derive your region's language and use that instead. While that choice might seem arbitrary at first, I think that they do it for a purpose - to force you to make yourself identifiable. - If you use a VPN, with no sign in, the language will be a random language (based on the VPN server location). - If you use no VPN and no sign in, they have your IP address and can identify you. - If you use VPN with servers from a fixed country, you can hide your real IP while having the language you want. But then you're always using the same set of servers (instead of random servers), and Google can see that. The DuckDuckGo search engine is much better - it respects your browser's default language and even lets you set your language preferences on it's search page. Also, if using Tor, Google Search will straight up will refuse to work 80% of the time.

I'm starting to wonder how Firefox stays in business when their product is designed to limit advertisers' access to their users. Of course, businesses need to make money, but not by stealth. So, can you do a video showing us how you set up and use Containers to bifurcate personal use which you don't want to be tracked, against business/work use with different set of accounts, which you may not mind letting advertisers track you?

YEARS later, and they STILL havnen't fixed the MAJOR BUG where if you disable the addon, it will wipe out ALL of your container settings so that you have to manually re-create all of the containers and re-assign every site to them all over again from scratch. 🤦 The Github repository for the addon is full of people complaining bout this. 😒

Your advice to use Firefox multiple container alerted me upon the requirement Firefox demands to allow "Access your data for all websites" including the contents written during visits, password and ALL etcetera, such as I found out typing "What every Browser knows about you fingerprint". Now, kindly answer how do experts like you recommend to use an extension that have access to ALL the data you handle when you browse including passwords? Is it not better DUCKDUCKGO ? Is there any browser that does not require to know all your data, including passwords? Using TOR does block access to many websites. Even NO TRACK requires to allow access you data for all websites ! How can anyone keep privacy? I use PUREVPN but still I prefer to ask you for an elaborate advise. Please answer extensively or publish another video addressing all this alarming "accesses" from extensions supposedly offering to protect you if they ask for the same data they offer you not to disclose ??
