Man I love this man's resilience 🔥 I hope makes it this time good idea making affordable EVs provided he has a plan to compete with the Cheap Chinese EVs
Meanwhile screwing investors all along the way while attempting to keep his name, try again, not learn a thing, but this time!!!!!! I will hire my wife as the COO. 😂😂😂 The guys business sense is remarkably terrible. Great designer. Moron business leader.
@@silveriver9 Sandy Munro used to say the same thing about the Chinese EVs and was pretty vocal about it, then after they did some teardowns on a couple of Chinese EVs at his company, and got pretty disappointed by the quality and lack of innovation there (engineerig), he got decelerated on that.
@JigilJigil Have you seen Chinese EVs lately? Musk used to dismiss them but now recognizes that Chinese EVs are top-notch and very competitive. He has nothing but praise. Hence the top 9 EV brands in the world will be Chinese. Tesla also use BYD batteries. China also control most of the lithium in the world. I was shocked at the growth of Chinese EVs over the last 4 years when I visited China last year. It blew my mind.
The CEO looks like a really calm and down to earth guy. He is a good car designer too. I actually respect and appreciate companies not by their sucess but by the way they are run and who runds them. Trouble or not, I think I'm going to invest in their stock
I love fisker Ocean, and Alaska, Pear is good looking for commuters as well. I hope they will make it. and i hope one day i will drive one of these cars.
I saw a video about the Pear. Ok under 30K so it is marketed as affordable EV. On the review I saw the extra complicated tailgate and front trunk. If they just made a normal front and rear trunk they would've saved even more money. A lot of EV companies don't seem to understand what they need to compete against. When I see a tail gate that disappears under the vehicle. First thing that comes to mind is how expensive is it going to be to fix it when it goes bad, because it will go bad. Make an EV that is simple, good range, good price, were people don't have to fear spending thousands of dollars if they get hit by shopping car. Make that car and it will sell fast. If first we have a reliable charging network that is affordable. I'll make a prediction on regards to that. By the time we have a reliable charging network it will cost as much if not more that using gas to charge your EV.
@@AmerBoyo Electric cars are expensive in the main, and I suggest you go and wait, and wait, and wait for an electric car to refuel , you'll never want an electric car again!!
Hopefully they overcome this. Henrik designs some beautiful cars tbh. One of the OEMS should definitely partner with or just outright buy Fisker as their EV branch.
Honestly, I'm amazed Fisker has made it this far, simply because the bulk of the design, production and release work for the Ocean occurred during the pandemic and then a period of hyper inflation. Tesla wouldn't have gotten off the ground in that environment. I hope Fisker makes it.
When Fisker needed to raise capital, every investor was literally throwing money after any EV start-up with ambitions of going public. When Tesla got started, the concept of a mass market EV manufacturer was considered a joke by most, and so they had to pull rabbits out of the hat to raise capital several times, sometimes days before bankruptcy. Tesla made a lot of mistakes in their earlier days, but they were also the first to walk their path. Today's start-ups have the advantage of looking at Tesla's mistakes with hindsight.
@@Harakai100 Not sure that is true, though it fits Tesla's narrative. Tesla got enormous government support -- direct loans, huge rebates for production facilities. And there was a lot of support for them because they were the only ones; they had strong investment. Fisker has been living through Covid and post-Covid. Not an easy world, especially with the far-right political sentiment against EVs altogether and some states passing legislation directly hostile. Even Tesla -- the only established EV maker -- has been suffering through this period, particularly lately. I do agree Tesla had challenges too, but its timing -- being the first out the door for a product attractive to a certain segment of the population, coupled with political support and pretty darn good products -- definitely helped it.
This guy is a superentrepreneur and he has capacity most people can only dream about. Respect to him, sometimes things work sometimes they dont. I wish him all luck in the future.
Need better marketing, I haven't heard of Fisker (or at least don't remember them) before this video. Didn't Tesla also almost failed? But I think they got the momentum to push through all their shortcomings, and was very lucky with government subsidies to make Tesla affordable when they were a younger company.
Hope Fisker could prove them wrong, their lineup looks better then most of the competition. If a company does buy Fisker out at least they have a better road map than Karma had.
dont get me wrong... 2 of the 3 cars are nice vehicle aesthetically but other than that its gona be a nightmare for servicing, software, and anything else that doesnt function properly on the car.
Fisker should be right up there with Tesla, his designs are out of this world, I would really like to see him make it, also the truck looks really cool.
if they had 45,000 signed up for the ocean why can't they sell the remaining of the 10,000 cars? Did they only sell 4500 cars because someone added a digit by accident to how many orders they had or did they really lose the contact information to 41,500 people?
I think it is essential for business owners to maintain a positive outlook for the future and address any obstacles that arise along the way. This positivity can be shared with investors, partners, team members, and customers. However, I have noticed that Fisker lacks this optimistic approach, so I agree with the analysts who predict a negative outlook for the company.
As an investor I really hope they do well. Not just for me but to keep a healthy competitive market. The Ocean is an attractive car and hope it receives the updates and supports it needs to be successful.
The tax credit is available with leasing.. As with EVERY EV. Leasing is the only way you should want to get an EV anyway. The tech is changing so fast, why would you want to BUY and EV anyway?? I've seem several Oceans' on the road. Great looking car. Hope they survive
Yes, I just posted I love the way Fisker deigns their vehicles, especially the Ocean. Hmmm, leasing an EV seems like a good Idea with your point of view. 😉👍🏽
I’ve owned a MODEL X since 2016. Paid cash for it. In 8 years it’s never been serviced. It’s my wife’s daily driver. My kids won’t drive in my gas powered BMW X5M. Which just had a $3500 brake job at 47k that BMW called “normal wear and tear”. My Tesla MX won’t need a brake job for another 175,000 miles. This is why you would buy an EV.
December 2011, Fisker Automotive recalled the first 239 Karmas delivered to the U.S. due to a risk of battery fire caused by coolant leak. Of the 239 cars, less than fifty had been delivered to customers, the rest were in dealerships. In the report filed by Fisker Automotive with the NHTSA, the carmaker said some hose clamps were not properly positioned, which could allow a coolant leak and an electrical short could possibly occur if coolant enters the battery compartment, causing a thermal event within the battery, including a possible fire.[51] In May 2012 a Fisker Karma was involved in a home fire that also burnt two other cars in Fort Bend County, Texas. The chief fire investigator said the Karma was the origin of the fire that spread to the house, but the exact cause is still unknown
Ten years ago there was no competition. Now there are 90 ev maker just in China. If Nissan or someone else does not buy them, fisker will be broke soon.
@kuznacbendelejev6924 like the above mentioned said, they are NOT Tesla....Fisker doesn't manufacture anything. They're not even remotely vertically integrated.
Fisker took for granted how hard it is to make a profitable ev. Like Elon always says, Ford and Tesla are the only US automakers to not go bankrupt. Sad to see ev companies folding, but it seems to be inevitable.
BMW licensed its engine, transmission and even its iDrive scroll controller to Toyota for a sports car (ok, the transmission is by Z-F, actually). Maybe Fisker and Nissan will do something like that.
Even if he clearly isnt the most amazing businessman, you gotta appreciate his perseverance. His company flopped and, instead of giving up, he started again and built another company in the fiercely competitive world of car manufacturing. If fisker goes out of business again, I dont think it will be too long before we see a third car maker bearing his name.
I'd say new versions are cute, which is better than some competitors, but Z8 and Vanquish were gorgeous, and Karma was fairly close to capturing that with a bit of "weirdness" added. I'd like to have another strong player in the EV space with emphasis on design, but only if they get the driving experience well. Getting money from Nissan seem sketchy, since they've been having their own money problems for years...
We know this was published March 4 2024. But, when was the interview with Henrick where he says "No, I don't share that we are going bankrupt by the end of the year"
Its telling how most of us are caustiously optimistic and thats being very generous. Quite honestly we are all thinking the same thing. His company is probably gonna go bust...again and its a damn shame cuz he's arguably one of the words finest automotive designers alive ..period
Henrik Fisker is a great designer, he really should stick to that and work for Tesla or one of the many Chinese EV companies and make significant contribution to their success
There are hundreds of used Oceans for sale with less than 1000 miles. Apparently, many owners have had issues and said "no mas". There is simply no demand for the vehicle and the competition is fierce. Poor reviews by Consumer Reports, Edmunds and MKBHD, etc. hurt badly but I hope they make it. The industry needs competitive products.
Fisker burned through $1 BILLION in funding from '07 -'13 with his first car company Fisker Automotive. 3 years later, he somehow managed to get funded again for Fisker Inc. & without so much as delivering a single working vehicle to market, the company went IPO. FSR is currently trading at $0.45. Is no one else seeing that Fisker's design talent is inversely proportional to his business acumen?
As someone who used to work there, the first thing that needs to happen is removing the wife from being CFO and COO. She has no experience and it is showing. If the company wants to survive then a battle tester CFO and COO needs to be hired and allowed to help turn the company around.
MKBHD borrowed one from a dealership and had a pretty negative review of it. So negative, a fisker employee tracked down the dealership who provided the car. He recorded the phone call, and Fisker handled it incredibly awkwardly, essentially trying to get MKBHD's contact info, and just languishing about how leadership at Fisker is going crazy over the bad PR generated by MKBHD's review. Rather strange for the guy at the dealership who owned the car to be in the middle lol.
My pitch for their success, will be to go Africa wide. Be the first brand to get charging stations across the continent. They can access large government grants and build new consumer groups in an economy that has potential to spend more in the next 4-8 years. The same principles brands like Samsung has adopted since inception.
Yeah Fisker!! I know people will say this company may not be able to compete with Tesla, BYD and other automakers, but at least Fisker makes some great cars and at least they design their cars. Unlike our local car brands Proton & Perodua just rebadge cars from Geely and Toyota/Daihatsu.They can't even give LED lights as a standard feature for their new cars and they still have the guts to say they are ready to go into electrification. I understand most people may disagree and most people may get angry at me for looking down on our Malaysian local car brands, but this is really happening and this is the reality. Proton and Perodua may still be making cars that's true , but their future car models are going to be very bland and dull. I'm Malaysian and I know not many people care about it, but to other Malaysian who read this comment I hope u can understand the truth.
Tesla pretty much has a monopoly on EVs, but even they are fighting feverishly to stay in the game. Considering Tesla's price, technology and software being at least a generation ahead of other car companies, it is highly unlikely for any other EV companies to survive the current market. Just look at Apple. They finally realized how ridiculously hard it is to make a good affordable electronic cars that can compete with Tesla.
You titled the video 'Why Fisker Can't Compete With Tesla' but didn't mention Tesla at all. Wouldn't it be fair to discuss Tesla's early days and the challenges they've overcome?
People forget tesla had all kinds of problems and bugs when they launched... people invested in fisker thinking it will be the next tesla immediately thats not how things work in reality... to put it in perspective tesla was founded in 2003 and only in 2020 they had their first profit year...fisker is a new company with vision be patient
I have had the car since december, have never goten around to using boost mode - the standard Hyper mode is around 98´8% of the power of boost mode, which is already more than enough - the accelaration of the Fun mode s enough to give you nausea.

Can’t compete with Tesla pricing, they don’t manufacture their own cars. Tesla is vertically integrated and makes many of their own parts and components. We need more electric motors but they need competitive pricing and profit to stay in business
Buying a car is a relationship. buyers rely on the manufacturer to exist to have warranty service and parts available. It failed once. Its brand is toxic.
Great designer. But still needs to stick with that. He and his ego need to let others do the work of build, marketing and partnerships. I hoped he would succeed as Ocean looked great. But like his Karma... It's got too many problems.
What a joke... everybody that sees my Ocean Extreme agrees he would prefer driving it above any Tesla, especially model Y or X... Tesla's are boring, the wife of your neighbor drives one to the Walmart... 😂
Hope they succeed, the world needs more western EV brands to balance against the dozens of Chinese ones which they are really good in price and quality, let’s see if they can keep up
Unfortunately they're unsurprisingly selling only the $60k+ models right now. Still, there's a good number of midsize fully electric SUVs around that price range, especially if you lease to take advantage of the tax credit.
Honestly, I really wish Fisker all the success and they have a good hardware and design language. Software is king, and that is where they fell short. Yes, Fisker has to compete with itself first before any other EV companies.
all HARDWARE in the OCEAN is by MAGNA. and the JAG F-Pace & iPace sell Terribly. both are made by MAGNA. in 2024 JAG is KILLING the iPace. Fisker does ZERO Engineering. the OCEAN lacks even BASIC Automatic SAFETY, proper Autopilot, and ZERO FSD.
I test drove the Ocean at Classic Fisker Atlanta dealership .. it looks and drives really good. I think it will be tough competition to Tesla Model Y. Ocean also has a solar roof which is cool. There is rumor of Nissan doing a strategic partnership with Fisker. Fingers crossed! Good luck.
BS, the Tesla model Y in 2023 was #1 CAR sold Worldwide. in MARCH 2024 Tesla model Y got IIHS Top Safety Pic + . its also #1 in CALIFORNIA, the Entire USA , CHYNA , EU/UK. Fisker cant even SELL 10,000 in ONE year. and MAGNA who makes the OCEAN for Fisker , is a Really CRAPPY vehicle.
@@markplott4820 sure sounds like your a short Mark. Cheering for their demise? There is simply no doubting Fisker the company is in serious trouble and Henrik personally is proving he is inept as a CEO. That said, for Fisker to even be in the conversation with Tesla tells you they have achieved a great deal and there is room in the EV market for at least 3 pure plays. A deal with Nissan does not repair all this, but it gives them a very strong lifeline to survive until both economic conditions change and the vehicle/brand grows its awareness with buyers.
@@JerryNordstrom Fisker only achieved the need to have Tesla in the article headline for clicks. Tesla gets clicks. Without Tesla in the headline it would never get past editorial. No clicks, no revenue. Simple as that.
