I don’t really care - I’m tired of only seeing women in leads and only women being competent and able. I’m not watching this solely because of that. Same reason why I’m not going to watch planet of the apes. If women is the target audience of Hollywood, then women can go and watch ‘their’ own movies. I’m done.

@@lostcause78 I was listening to Open Bar at work when Chris joined the panel. He just couldn't seem to find the right words to describe the movie maybe? It sounded like they were laughing AT him because they were not convinced to see it. Well, Drinker didn't sound like he was laughing at him, but he wasn't convinced either. Chris didn't talk much after he spoke about Furiosa. It was like a kid that claimed to have see Santa, but no one believed him and just laughed. I'm not saying there was any ill will towards Chris from anyone, but none of them believed Furiosa could/would be any good.

It exists for the same reason every other Mad Max movie exists. George Miller had an idea for a film and then wrote and directed a film. Who the fuck are you to qualify what is and isn't an acceptable to be a Mad Max film? Who better to decide than George Miller??? It's looney toon land over here.

Doesn't really matter, it's still turning yet another male led franchise into a female led one. Modern gender politics at play, nothing new to see here. They'll just make "better" girl boss movies, which still isn't what most people want to see in heavy action films. Keep coping because a "good" girl boss movie is the best you're going to get.

@@JERSEYBOYPLAY2HARD Fury Road was the reboot. Mad Max was originally all about Mad Max. Then 2 decades later we get a reboot where Max takes a back seat in his own movie and Furiosa is the main character. Then a decade after that they further take the franchise down the female road by making a movie entirely about Furiosa, not Max which the franchise is supposed to be based on. They could’ve made a prequel about Immortal Joe. They could’ve done a prequel about Max or even a sequel of where he goes after Fury Road. Instead they intentionally pick the girl boss from Fury Road who nobody really cared about. Men go see these movies because they filled with action and cool cars, not because a one-armed chick is out driving all the men.

I dont know what yall are smoking, I dont care about any female protagonist, even if its good (and they almost never are, not in modern times anyways). I'd care more if it weren't specifically a Mad Max property. Even as far back as "The Road Warrior" Max was almost as much audience surrogate as hero, and that's fine, I love that movie! I also really liked "Fury Road", but I don't think we needed more of Furiosa's story. I would have rather seen another movie with Max getting caught up in/witnessing yet another story in another part of the wasteland.

I watched the movie last night and Furiosa is definitely not a girl boss. None of the women in the movie were physically superior to men. Even her mother, who was a great sharpshooter was quickly taken down physically by men. Furiosa's action scenes were "believable" and never did I think she was unbeatable or invincible like girl bosses are. If she were a girl boss, she would have been able to go physically toe to toe against Dementus and win. The movie is 20 to 30 minutes too long, but it has some amazing action scenes, especially when in the road warrior combat scenes.

I dont care. It's another Mad Max movies without Mad Max. Making another sequel/prequel/series about established characters, but replacing the iconic male character for a female character No One Asked For makes it a girl boss movie. It doesnt matter if she isnt a mary sue, it doesnt matter if it is "more believable". Make an entirely different movie then. I want my Mad Max movies to star Mad Max, or an equivalent awesome male lead. The modern era ended any desire to see female action leads, period.

@@joshuastoughton1693 That's your opinion. Simply don't watch it then. George Miller, the creator of Mad Max, didn't want to make a movie featuring Mad Max. He has already done 4 movies on Mad Max and instead just wanted to do some world-building on the post-apocalyptic world he created many years ago. Odds are, we won't see another movie made in the world of Mad Max again given George Miller is 79 and probably too old to make another diesel-powered action flick. what I'm hoping for is now that so much world-building has been done between his 5 movies, that Warner Bros. decides to create a video game that remains true to the spirit of the Mad Max world.

If this was just some studio film with some other writers and creators with no Miller and no involvement from his team then your criticisms might be valid, but as this is George Miller’s vision and it’s getting mostly praise from most people you can shut right up buddy, if you had an any intellect you could differentiate something like this as oppose to the kinds shit Disney has been doing so stfu

You must be a woman hater if you feel so strongly about an action flick that features a woman who isn't a girl boss. The cast isn't even diverse - it lacks any strong supporting cast members that are non White or LGBT. So its definitely non Woke in its casting. My guess is you won't ever be satisfied unless your action flick features a heterosexual White male as the lead character. The movie doesn't need you or other women haters to make money, which it will.

Saw it last night. She’s 100% a girl boss. From age 12 she already knows everything, she can take out anyone. The only time she takes a step back in the whole movie is to give her the opportunity to double down on the girl boss. Not to mention her mother was the ultimate girl boss martyr. There were some cool scenes and the movie itself was extremely well done, and just like fury road should have been a masterpiece. But the core idea is its fatal flaw and it never gets over it, and never came close.

I challenge you to rewatch Fury Road. It was on TV the other night and I watched it from half way through. TERRIBLE. Just terrible. Cheesy, ugly, stupid. Nic Hoult is one of the few redeeming features.

This movie is good. Its not Disney's trash girl boss movie. Its a George Miller's girl boss movie. Completely likable and entertaining. Remember the first time u watched Road Warrior? Remember that feeling? Completely pulled into that apocalyptic world. This movie does that and more and on IMAX with those spectacular sound systems. George didn't forget about Max. There is one character that reminds u of Mad Max. But u have to see it to figured out who it is.

The screenplay is weak, so is the villain character. It makes furiosa motivation vengeance at the end look unconvincing. Far below Fury Road, while the story is thin, the overall movie is well directed and very enjoyable.

Why would Furiosa be a girl boss? I haven't seen the Furiosa movie yet while in Fury Road she was a female version of Max. Max isn't a superhuman male and Furiosa just happened to be his match similar to Cara Dune and Mando. Remember when some random people tried to say Cara Dune was a girl boss? I remembered and I still laugh at that. It's funny on how there is an assumption especially when you have had figures like Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley, Sidney Prescott, Black Widow, Wonder Woman, and so on that can hold their own but do get their asses kicked just like one of the guys. Sounds like Furiosa in her own movie is like Charlize Theron's role in Atomic Blonde as it fits the world and the character since she can dish out some hurt and will take some punishment like the general protagonist will do. It's glad to hear that Allen wasn't bashing the movie.

No one's saying that fury road and furiosa are bad movies they're more so not mad Max movies and I personally agree with this.

The rest are an ensemble piece like how every Mission Impossible, LotR, Star Trek, Star Wars, Dune, Jurassic Park, Terminator, Alien, Predator, and Expendables movie is.

Hear, hear, Alan & Derek! I wish all the nay-sayers would just shelve their preconceptions go see this, and not just from the movie and not biased reviews. She's no Rei Palpatine, no Capt. Marvel, or any of those girl-bosses. She takes the Hero's Journey, and she suffers greatly along the way. Just give it a chance.
