She can not play for the US anymore. Once a player represents a country for the Olympics, the player can no longer represent another. In Gabby' s case, it is not as if she played for France as a "rental." Her mother is French. So it's not easy to discard her French ancestry. Besides, France approached her. She didn't apply for it. Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon once played for the Russian National Team. Although she doesn't have Russian blood in her veins, the Russian coach approached her since the national team at that time needed a point guard who could match up with the USA's Sue Bird. Becky though, did have experience playing overseas with the Russian League. So it is not as if she was a complete stranger to the Russians.

Her mother is French but Gabby was born in Sparks, Nevada.

@@miocid31 she doesn't. Maybe she will, maybe not. But she didn't take up a seat that a more deserving player should have gotten. She wasn't at the game, got demoted, and did not get in the gold metal game.
