First, let me apologize for the quality of the voice work, I am feeling a bit sick and experiencing shortness of breath.
======
Galaxy's Edge has a problem, in that its theme is based around Disney's sequel trilogy. The sequel films are a damaged brand that don't sell Star Wars merchandise and while it may sound crazy to even consider a retheme, I actually argue that this should happen.
First, a special thanks to Choven Prau for letting me use their rendition of The Mandalorian theme in the video: • The Mandalorian - Main...

Re-themeing would go a long way, but what it really needs is aliens. it's supposed to be a sprawling spaceport but the only alien walking around is Chewbacca. they could have a few cast members in different clothing combinations and swappable masks and gloves/sleeves to give the illusion of multiple different aliens walking around the land doing various tasks
@Skye_Writer
@Skye_Writer 2 года назад
Exactly. Wookieepedia says Batuu is home to 17 immigrated species of sentient beings, including Bith (the Cantina Band), Devaronians, Twilek, and Wookiees. Why aren't we seeing some of these people working the outpost? Look, I understand that in the Florida heat and humidity especially, masked characters are required to work only half an hour outside and have 15-30 minutes "offstage" out of the mask. But there are plenty of SW characters whose alienness consists of adding on a piece of headgear and maybe some facepaint...or even no facepaint. Or you could go the Star Trek route and put on spots, nose ridges, or some kind of forehead appliance. And while no, I don't expect the regular cast members who sell the merch and sweep up the trash to get dressed up like that, there's no reason you couldn't have some wandering cast members who, like you said, swap out every half hour or so. Maybe every cast member could do a 30 minute stint as some alien or other, then catch a transport off world and go back to serving blue milk in the Batuu clothing.

Agree. And another option could be similar to what they use to do for pirates and the princess’s… have a ‘studio’ where the family can be made into an alien with make up/face paint etc…

When you go to Universal, you step directly into Diagon Alley and Hogsmede, places I have seen in the movies for years. What is a Blackspire Outpost? Disney should have made an entire Star Wars Park with separate "lands" for each trilogy rather than wedge Galaxy's Edge into Hollywood Studios. 😕

Having just gotten back from there. I dont mind the theming. Its the layout and pricing. It is essentially a Shopping mall looking like Star Wars with a couple of rides thrown in to call it a park. It needs more rides and more space. It also doesnt help with the Galactic Cruiser hotel announcing pricing in the astronomical amounts. 6k for a family of 4 for 2 night. THey need to add to the land, get more rides and incorporate new lands and stories and I think it will do better.

This is it. Changing it to look like Endor or Yavin or some place from the movies that RU-vidrs like isn't going to matter in the slightest if it still just has two rides and a load of shops with really expensive merch. There's nothing wrong with basing it on the sequel trilogy if they actually put work into building the lore and history of Batuu to make it feel like you're really in a hideout for hired guns and smugglers just looking for a way to make a buck in a galaxy that has found itself in yet another war.

The issue is the Falcon ride is just a video game and they should have added the ride a bantha ride they had planned. That and it does need music in the area. The area itself is amazingly well themed and feels like you are on a planet in Star Wars. Retheming it wouldn't change anything.

It’s overrated The narrative and sequence of events gets repetitive, it relies too much on screens which kills the illusion and it always needs maintenance that of which is rarely provided On top of that I have no interest in seeing a dark ride based on the sequels especially if I have to fly down to see it. An OT era one with a menacing Darth Vader animatronic? That’s a different story Because the sequels are essentially a remake of the OT that just confirms the importance of the OT Era but at the same time it’s a conflict of interest 1) having a beat for beat remake as a sequel changes the story of the early installment for the worst 2) we know that the ot era is the one that everyone appreciates therefore why waste time and resources with the “remake” Honestly point 2 and what Disney basically did with Star Wars is akin to Disney permanently swapping out their attractions and meet and greet characters based on their animated classics with that of their live action remakes

@@BrerRabbit1992 It is very interesting to hear your opinion of Black Spire. And to be honest. A reskin could be very inexpensive and is more of a shift in mindset than anything. They have been almost religious in their impressiveness efforts. They just need to let that go a bit, add characters and merch and add even just a small attraction that is a full nod to the original trilogy. This could be even just a small walk through loop outdoor museum park/selfie park or something I have long wanted to see, a walk through either stables or zoo with animatronic animals and aliens. There are so many they could choose for it and they don't need to do all of them. BTW there is talk of a new and larger Star wars bar. The Sequels really are an albatross around the neck of the Star Wars brand. First I can tell you as somebody that was in my late 20s when the Prequels kicked off people didn't immediately start shitting on them the way they did with the sequels. Yes there were fanboys that didn't like them and there were questionable issues and flaws in them but a sizable portion of the fandom liked them a great deal. And more than half a decade of The Clone Wars tv series only enhanced the perception of the Prequel movies. It also helped that Revenge of the Sith was the highpoint of that series and so the Prequels ended on a high note that was relatively controversy free (NOOOOO and lost the will to live not withstanding). More than that the Prequels truly felt like Star Wars in a way that the Sequels didn't. Everything felt like it all belonged in the same Universe together and it had a reasonably coherent over arching theme and storyline. Now I've been a Star Wars nerd since I walked out of A New Hope back in 77 thinking it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen as a 5 year old. And the longest 3 years of my life felt like the wait between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi so I can promise you I'm part of the demographic that is supposed to predisposed to hate the Prequels and I just never did. They fit into the Universe like a comfortable pair of jeans. Maybe they were threadbare in a few spots but they belonged. I remember walking out of the Force Awakens feeling...... disappointed. They killed Han in a pointless way, Rey had no backstory, Luke wasn't even in the damn movie except for a few seconds at the end, Kylo Ren seemed like a petulant child and since when does somebody pick up a lightsaber and best a trained Sith, wounded or not? And they just shit all over a legion of fans that had been devouring expanded universe material since the early 90s. While Lucas chose not to incorporate any of that into the prequels he at least had the good sense not to thumb his nose at the fans who loved it. Clearly the creators of the sequel trilogy decided they knew best how to continue the story of the OT and gave a giant middle finger to everybody who thought otherwise. And then they doubled down on that with The Last Jedi and it bit them in the ass hard. By the time the Rise of Skywalker came out there was really not much that could be done to fix the problem besides scraping it all and starting over. Which seems to be the persistent rumor behind the franchise these days. Dave and Jon have thrown the Star Wars brand an absolute lifeline that saved it from a certain death and they are doing it by exploring the area of time all the fans wanted to see after the OT and by creating well crafted stories built around likable and well developed characters. As the implications of what the Sequel will mean for these characters as they grow to be more and more popular become obvious I think it will become ever more obvious that Disney will have to borrow a page from their own mishandling of the brand and consign the sequels to legends and create a new canon. Once that die is cast retheming of Galaxy's Edge will become a necessity.
@PoseidonEntertainment

I think that I agree with almost every single point you've made. I do have a minor disagreement that the prequels and OT fit together nicely because the discrepancies in the visual style of the world building has always bothered me, but otherwise you're spot on.

A re-themed Galaxy’s Edge would be so awesome. Some of my favorite trips to Disneyworld was when I was attending Star Wars Weekends Celebration. Original characters in a exclusive Star Wars parade. Original trilogy actors signing autographs and putting on special panels where they talk about their experiences working on the classic movies. Star Wars stage shows with a DJ during the exclusive fireworks. Plus I loved the exclusive Weekends gift shops where you can pick up exclusive merchandise. I’m not a sequel hater, and actually I’m very curious about the New Republic era, so the era is not really the problem for me. The key is not making it a known place. And of course, the sequel era does not have the iconic locations the OG trilogy has, so of course the relation is comprehensible. Also the missed opportunity of not making the various Galaxy’s edge locations, based on different planets, that would really put the Galaxy on the Galaxy’s Edge brand.

It needed to be themed appropriately as not being a part of any trilogy and not having their decor be based on any one era. If they just did one ambiguous place they could’ve had it work with all Star Wars content instead of limiting it to only certain characters. If it wasn’t for the forced new trilogy theme they could’ve had all characters from all eras of Star Wars traverse the park. This way they could have different actors dress as whatever character for the time of day and send them out so fans of any era can enjoy the park. By forcing the park to comply to any one era of Star Wars it cuts off fans of the og, prequels, sequels, or any of the side content like the mandalorian or clone wars. This means if they made new content in the future even this would be left out instead of just having a random planet theme that’s not directly shown as any one era. They could’ve even used projectors to change eras every hour instead of making the park theme permanently sequels where every hour the characters would change out their rounds for different ones from whatever the theme of the hour is. Such as having different faction art appear via projectors into different buildings instead of permanently having resistance/first order things everywhere. I love the og but I also love the prequels and series as well and I hate the sequels but I wouldn’t want any fans of Star Wars new or old left out from enjoying the park. By making the era themes change every hour or every few hours they could make a larger portion of Star Wars enjoyers get to enjoy what they love most about the franchise. And I also believe all different things from all parts of the Star Wars eras should be permanently present. As for rides I believe the millinum falcon should be changed to Han Solo with Hondo during the time of the og trilogy, the rise of resistance can stay the same but a new ride should be added for strictly the prequels so each era has a ride dedicated to it and all fans can have something they enjoy. And I agree that lord x-wing should be repainted to be Luke’s, the first order ship can stay, the new and old droids can stay, but a new ship should be added from the prequels era as well. This way no fans are left out. If the park stays set to one particular era I just don’t want to go there because as much as I love the og I wouldn’t want to be forced to miss out on the other things I love most about the franchise and I believe I would be missing out on something. By having a mash up of all content and changing the themes via projectors every hour or so I could enjoy everything I love about the franchise. If they had different characters come out with those changes I’d be even more excited, imagine one hour leia, Han, Luke, Chewie were out in the past but the next hour was prequel characters and clone wars characters like obi wan, anakin, rex, Ashoka, bad batch, mace but then in the next hour they had mandalorian themes with different factions of mandalorians traveling around like bo katan, din, boba, Sabine, night watch, and more? Or sequels fans could have their favorite characters. No fans would be cut off from their favorite thing about Star Wars. By making the park a set time period they cut off the potential to add new content in the future or cater to all fans. A one set trilogy or show as the theme is a mistake just because of how many different fans there are to the different parts of this franchise. There’s too much difference in themes between each trilogy to choose one permanently without cutting off fans who like a different part of it.

They should retheme to original trilogy and there's enough room for a small but decent coaster experience either based off the trench run or the endor rundown. Star Tours on the other hand, should increase ride experience and throw all "locations" in the ride. The whole "light sabre" shop, I do recommend it over than buying from some website that price it higher that Savi's Workshop. I can see these upgrades to happen. I can see a digital Leia & Luke with Vader to fill "Rise..." or maybe a young Wedge. And play it out like the end of Rogue and the beginning of 1st film of "escaping with the plans" . "Smugglers.." should follow the principles of destroying the Deathstar like in Jedi with a small trench run leading inside the deathstar to destroy the core. That concept itself on both rides would gain heavy traction with real of star wars fans. Scrap that little stunt stage and add a small star wars flat ride or a small coaster experience that goes through that park themed area. The blue and green milk should be upgraded as well. Legit milk but properly flavored as for the blue milk would taste like blueberries, that would sell a lot better because that alone is still getting mixed reviews, almost like a very thin milkshake where it's not too thick but at the right consistency. Due to aesthetics, it would be decorated as either Tattooine or Endor. There's too many shops and food and utilize the space for some small ride or attraction. For "Rise.." Vader and General Tarkan. In both WDW and Disneyland, they should move the star wars properties in Galaxy's Edge, for Disney to make room for newer rides. Reconstruct The Stars Wars launch bay (meet & greet) and Star Tours. "Wall-E", is a Disney feature set in the future to be placed in Tomorrowland, it could replace the star tours (if moved) for that spot. Get ride of Pizza Port because there's a unused show building that could be used for something. I recently heard that Disneyland might get rid of autopia due to mechanical and maintenance costs and to house the Tron light bike coaster. A possible use of the damaged tracking of the Peoplemover to make that coaster happen.

They could easily change the millennium falcon ride to the the OST because the ride is reprogrammable and would be more iconic being with original Star Wars characters while your on the classic millennium falcon. For the rise of the resistance ride it would be super hard to change it and it probably wouldn't be worthwhile for Disney, it could also be changed by you being on the Death Star and trying to get to the rebel base and not the resistance base. Although, I do love the current ride. Having the prequel Star Wars trilogy would be hard because it wouldn't fit in as much and would not be as marketable even tho it would be super cool. As for The Mandalorian, it would work because that takes place during the OST.

They'll never do it as long as Kathleen Kennedy draws breath. Everything thing Disney LucasFilms has made has detracted from/tore down OT characters. She hates the OT and its fans. I will go a step further. Star Wars does not belong in Disneyland. Walt would not have all of this outside IP in his park. Heck the greatest Disney attractions weren't based on anything not even Disney movies. Pirates of The Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain were created out of whole cloth by the Imagineers. Star Wars deserves it's own standalone park. Marvel just seems to screw up whatever it's added to. Give it its own little park too. What it did to Tower of Terror is an abomination.

The thing about the original trilogy is that no one hates it. The prequels and sequels are universally well received and beloved. There may be fans who like the prequels of sequels better, but no one hates the OT with the burning passion that some people feel about the other trilogies. I also feel GE could do very well in a timeframe set pretty immediately after the war which could help make a bit freer with continuity, still being an explored couple of years yet square in the OT era still and Batuu could show an era of post imperial reconstruction while rebels finish taking out the last staggering dregs of the empire still killing about on the planet. This gives the land the freedom to make merch and reference to anything from the OT if they wanted, like walk around Ewoks or something. This would also allow Droid Depot to get away with BB units as new experimental designs.

I don’t think they really need to take it all the way back in time and remove all aspects of the sequel trilogy. The work involved is far more than you suggest. Sequel X wings have a totally different design, especially with the engines. A simple re-paint would not please actual fans. Keep the time setting, but change the location to Tatooine and incorporate elements of all 3 trilogies. Create a universal environment and take us on a journey through the entire saga. Changing Smuggler’s Run is fairly simple since it is a digital mission. Give us the real Cantina. Add a Pod Racing ride. Why just Storm Troopers? Include Jawas, Tuscan Raiders, Ewoks, Hutts, Zabraks, Twi’leks, Rodians, Mon Calamari, Gamorreans. Make it feel like a diverse alien space port.

I really liked your point about the music. One thing I don't like about Galaxy's Edge is there is no background music playing anywhere. I get that Disney was trying to make it as immersive as possible, but when every single other land in Disney World (except Pandora) has music playing at all times, the lack of music gives the area a weird feeling in my opinion. Like its almost too quiet. Furthermore, for me at least, part of the reason I feel so immersed in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is that film music is playing at all times, which really gets you in the feel and mood of Harry Potter as well as makes you feel like you've stepped into the movie.

On opening day in Hollywood Studios, the attraction started with a 4-5 hour wait and dropped to a 40 by mid afternoon. Not a success I think. Since then, even with the opening of Rise, it seems to have been fairly successful, but not to the point where the park is reaching capacity every day like Disney seemed to think it would. Can you imagine had they themed it all on a desert planet with flat rolling sand dunes? They can better make the land seem huge by building up rather than by paving acres more actual land to create the effect of a new land. They were fresh off of Pandora and could see all that worked well for it with the mountains and spires. Well there's the Millennium falcon. That's a pretty memorable location from the og trilogy as much as the sequels. Not only do you get to see it on scale but you get to venture inside and then 'fly' it. Someone ready posted here that star wars doesn't really stick around the same planets for them to be truly like Hogwarts in Harry Potter, so making a new location that can center stuff from all 3 trilogies, include canon friendly shops, restaurant's and rides and have that general 'star wars' aesthetic was kinda the best option. Wether you think they were good or bad, most of the desions made had been mulled over by expirienced engineers, team members and park execs who've run Disneylamd and Disney world for years, so they weren't just random, spur of the moment type stuff. @@R0NYFL0NY I agree. TFA is remicrowaved meatloaf. Sure it tastes familiar, but in a very bland and predictable way. Considering how JJ Abrams handled the Star Trek Reboot, it is quite clear that he just likes to remicrowave sci-fi classics and add in too much lens flair. While I do think that The Last Jedi has many problems, it at least was trying to cover new ground and set things up for an interesting third film. Too bad JJ Abrams handled the blank slate he got from Johnson with as much grace as a herd of Banthaas on an ice rink. The Rise of Skywalker was both too bloated in its scope (seems like JJ Abrams wanted to do a two party finale ala Harry Potter) and wasted too much time on irrelevant plot holes (cut out half the planets in your video game style fetch quest). Also reviving Palpatine was the worst part of the expanded universe as it undercut so much of episode 6. Overall I think the biggest problem is having dueling directors and no unified creative vision. For all of the flak given to the prequels, Lucas had a unified vision. Honestly they should have just hired Peter Jackson and given him enough creative freedom to make it a masterpiece.

@@PoseidonEntertainment The main problem with The Force Awakens is that it's a remake of Episode IV without doing anything new really. It's nostalgia baiting for the sake of it. It's Episode IV but bigger. The death star? There's a whole death star planet! Whoooaaaahhhh!!!! At least Last Jedi tried something new by going in a unique and interesting direction. There was an artistic vision there even if you didn't like it (I did). But then Rise of Skywalker was so afraid that people would stop paying attention that it went back to nostalgia baiting for the sake of it and purposely retconned a lot of what made Last Jedi interesting. Why are Lando and the Emperor here? Because they're characters you already know. There's no vision there. It's Episode VI but BIGGER! Instead of a Death Star, there's a whole fleet of Death Star ships. And instead of the Emperor doing lightning magic, he does a whole huge lighting attack that wipes out ships. This nostalgia baiting for the sake of it is at the heart of what makes Disney so late stage capitalist right now. They're cashing in on their reputation as much as possible because they know people will continue buying their merchandise and coming to their parks. This is seen in the general laziness of everything they're doing. Remaking old movies. Commenting on their usual style (the line "If you start singing I'm going to throw up" from Moana made me gag). The sheer laziness in the parks: the lack of entertainment and atmosphere, not paying to adequately maintain attractions, the laziness of new attractions, charging more for less (as in the Boo Bash). Buying up so many properties so that they can cash in on other people's stories. Disney owns over a third of the market share of the entertainment industry. There's so many examples of this. Bob Iger started it and Bob Chapek is continuing it.

The manufacturer is a flight sim group that was used to their equipment only running for a few hours a day and failed to consider the fact it would be running 10+ hours with no brakes.

Although a retheme to the original trilogy would be fantastic for guest experience and worthwhile for Disney, it will never happen as the current execs are only willing to do the bare minimum to make as much profit as possible. As long as people visit galaxy's edge and Disney makes money from it, it will not change (except for a possible mandalorian expansion, which Disney would also do the bare minimum for in order to have an attendance boost and sell more baby yoda merch)

The original trilogy events are big historic moments in the sequel trilogy. They could make a ride that is an "attraction" with in the world of Star Wars where Galactica citizens can be immerse in a simulation of these "real" events.

As someone who was both a Star Wars fan (emphasis on the WAS. Thanks Disney) and an annual passholder for the first seven months of Galaxy’s Edge’s existence, it gets old real quick. I had a blast on my first visit, but there’s nothing new to see after that. After the first few weeks of hype wore down, I (and seemingly most other guests) rarely visited Galaxy’s Edge. Even after Rise of the Resistance opened the land was always empty. There’s simply nothing more to see once you’ve looked at the surface level. It hasn’t always been that way either, as evidenced by the lasting popularity of pretty much every other land in the park. Why should someone visit an expensive shopping mall with delusions of grandeur when they can go ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, or any number of other high quality*, reridable classics? *Note, the rides were high quality THEN. Chapek has slashed budgets to the point that you’d be better off going to Six Flags for an immersive and reliable ride experience.

The problem with Galaxy's Edge was the cut elements. Disney spent a lot of time at Knotts Berry Farm taking notes on Ghost Town Alive and wanted to mimic that model in Galaxy's Edge. Stages and platforms are built throughout the land for characters to be present on and interaction. And that table service restaurant with a live show would make it a place to visit. The roaming droids and stunt shows throughout the land would have added much needed life. The only element they would need to create would be something for guests to interact with a la Harry Potter's wands. Give people the opportunity to use "the Force" on things.

I think it needs to be rethemed, but *not* to the original trilogy, but rather the series as a whole. That's one of the reasons why Wizarding World works so well at Universal, it has no set timeframe in the universe, allowing for all merch and food sales to make perfect sense, and it allows all the rides to be set whenever the heck they want. So, for Galaxy's Edge, you can have the actual land themed to the series as a whole, then the individual rides take place at certain points. You can have Rise of the Resistance still set in the sequel era, you can have Smuggler's Run set in the OT era and replace Hondo with Jabba, and you can have a pod race launch coaster set in the prequel era.

Although I’m a big Star Wars fan, I kind of agree with the direction they took in this case. It’s harmless enough that anyone can approach it, even if you never watched any of the movies or if you only watched the sequel trilogy, which, let’s be honest, a lot of children have only watched the new movies unless their parents are big fans of the OG trilogy. Star Wars isn’t as easy to translate as Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and Diagon alley. The galaxy is too ample and it’s impossible to please everyone. It’s not perfect and it’s still in its infancy, there’s plenty of room for growth. When TWWoHP opened it had 3 attractions, the castle which was amazing, even though everything felt plastic, the ride of the Hypogriff which was a tiny roller coaster for kids and the repurposed Triwizard tournament dragon challenge with very little theming, with only the triwizard cup in the middle of the queue to establish what it was. Everything else was also cutely decorated stores and it still made me cry out of excitement. The intention to theme everything is there. It’s just a bigger challenge.

The park (WDW) is awesome but I’d definitely prefer it to either be based around the OT or The Mandalorian. I’m not a sequels fan at all (TFA is alright) but being based around the sequels hampered it slightly for me. I hate the way the first order stormtroopers look. RotR is fun but again hampered by the sequel skin of the ride. How can I take Hux seriously in the ride when he was an absolute buffoon in the movies? Not too mention a lot of the dialogue is cringe much like the films lol. But again the ride is still fun but it should be the empire.
@PoseidonEntertainment
@PoseidonEntertainment 3 года назад
Yeah... about Hux. If this attraction takes place between episodes 8 and 9, then we know exactly what happens to him and what kind of shallow, annoying character he is. It makes his impact in the attraction non-existent. If I liked him as a character, then maybe I would be excited to see him. Definitely agree with your point.

I think it would be cool for the different Disney parks to have different eras. Like Orlando can be orignal trilogy and Anaheim could be prequel trilogy. Didn’t has too many direct clones. Even if they had the save underlying ride mechanics it would be a cool reason to one day visit the other parks across the country or in France/Asia. Probably would add cost on Disney’s end but I think it would be worth it for them. They could even use it in advertising like “gotta see them all”. This variation would give fans more to see while costing Disney less than making new areas.
@thebikewatcher9819
@thebikewatcher9819 2 года назад
Personally I don't think it needs to be rethemed, I just think that it needs to be more immersive. They need aliens in Ogas being social and being part of the story, as if they're locals hanging out. The interactivity of your progress from Smugglers Run would be great, and if a bounty hunter actually engaged you, as originally proposed would happen, would be fantastic. They need droids moving about in the land. The merch should be better designed to fit a planet from another galaxy. It would be cool if everyone mission on Smugglers Run was different, like they do on Star Tours. They could easily change out the First Order ship for a TIE fighter, or more generic transport, change the dish on top of the Millennium Falcon, and at different times of the year switch between the OT and sequels. It wouldn't be that expensive, and they could cover a lot of fandom and lore. The only difficult thing would be implementing more prequel lore.

Now that I think about it, it would be easy. Just change the screen footage, the costumes, and the decor. The hardest part would be changing the space ships completely associated with the sequel era like that first order ship, and redressing the animatronics. One problem, companies like Disney have been pretty obsessive lately about trying to convince people to ditch the past, and are very stubborn about it too. If how they’ve been treating Luke’s character in recent years, I don’t think they want to put him a position for people to like him.

As much as I want this to happen it never will. Even if they did spend the money to do it, it still won’t work because of Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance. They’re both too integrated in the sequel trilogy and would absolutely make no sense to be there if the land was rethemed.

It kinda is like the original trilogy already. The “sequels” just painted the X wing blue and simplified the X-wing and Tie fighter design 🤣. Hell even the AT AT in Rise of the Resistance is the OT model and not the sequel version (likely because they probably copied the one they had on Star Tours). Galaxy’s edge is totally soulless, they just cleared the minimum check marks to make it look good in paper.

I agree that it should be rethemed. However, I just think the chances of them actually doing this are close to zero. The amount of money they would have to spend gutting out large models and retheming ROTR would turn them off from doing it. Every single trooper in the ROTR pre show would need to be changed. Many of the ships around the land, changed. ROTR's million dollar animations, changed. Its just not likely in the slightest that they would want to commit to such a change.

I agree that TLJ was definitely the best of the films because it was a creative vision, but it still wasn't a good film. The blatant character assassination and erasure of Luke's character arc is so forced that I can't even begin to believe it. The film itself does absolutely nothing to advance the story and feels like a waste of time. The sequel films are so poorly crafted that it's just unbelievable to me.

Setting visitors into a fascist environment where armed stormtroopers call you out is absolutely the low point of Disney Imagineering, and doing so within our current political environment shows an impeccable talent for doing the wrong thing in the most tasteless way imaginable. The whole concept needs to be abandoned. Filmic background music is absolutely needed in this area. The whole excuse that "this is reality" falls apart if there's background music ON THE RIDES. There's GOT to be a waterfall added and some movement. Being in a place so focused on space and yet knowing that a space ship will never arrive in the air is only one of the many ways Galaxy's Edge sets everything up to disappoint the returning visitor. It was really cool the first time. Now what? Does this planet have no festivals or holiday celebrations that might bring seasonal joy to the grimness of the experience, or would that defeat the whole "torture" theme that runs throughout?
@Skye_Writer

You know, I think you have something there. I'm not sure why the entire area isn't roofed/domed over with an LED "sky showing things like that. You know, I remember as a kid the first year EPCOT opened that we ha no idea what to expect, and as we made our way from Canada to Mexico in World Showcase, night had fallen by the time we got to the Mexico pavilion. When we walked inside the pyramid, we literally thought we had walked back outside. Not just the kids, but the adults too. The "night breezes" and the stars in the sky and the slight clouds we could see in the distance really had us fooled for a couple of minutes, and we had to look closer to realize it was all projected onto the ceilings and walls. How amazing would it be if Black Spire Outpost had a dome with a sky and could simulate the experience of actually be ON a world with a real, thriving spaceport? And ok, maybe they don't want to put music from the films piping into that land, but that's all more the more reason to pipe in music that sounds like it belongs in the area. Or better yet, to bring in musicians to play on the streets just like you'll find in any tourist town. Every New York subway was someone playing guitar or violin or saxophone and busking for tips, every port of call for a cruise ship (REAL ports, that is, not their private islands) has local musicians playing local instruments, inviting you to come see their show at some local bar. Galaxy's Edge needs the same thing. But you are right that if they are playing the music IN THE RIDES and in the lightsaber building experience, then they absolutely have no reason to shy away from playing it in the land.

I don't think we'll ever see a re-theming. A re-theming would essentially be an admission that the Disney stewardship of the franchise has been a failure. It's akin to why CA Adventure and Disneyland are the same price, even though CA Adventure is clearly the inferior park. If CA Adventure was priced lower, then that would be Disney admitting that the park is inferior, which they would never do.

I think that galaxy edge problems are everything whats wrong with disney. Imagine universal would design their harry potter land after the cursed child or the fantastic beasts series. To theme the star wars land after the upcoming sequels was a high risk high reward move. Did it pay off? I don't think so. Universal would have played it safe and themed it after original triology. Look at rise of resistence. It may be a good ride, but it is a relict from the tfa era of star wars. It has some nostalgic value to see characters like finn and hux in their prime. But this attraction makes already no sense at the debut of the last jedi. Now Disney is stuck with two star wars lands that are sequel themed. But the sequel triology is a disaster for disney. Even Disney knows this and that they are going back milking the originals and even the prequels underlines it. To retheme galaxies edge is a huge investment. But i think that disney should first fix star wars as a ip. Then they can retheme it. Rise of resistence is a relative new ride and until it needs an overhaul, disney can use this time to rebuild the franchise.
