I see a couple comments that don’t like this video. However, I’m kind of surprised, because this message really makes a lot of sense and it aligned with my life. If people were coming here to get some fake blueprint on how to become a millionaire - you should be thankful this video wasn’t long. I wish those people good luck, but for me this video slapped. Cheers man.
This is exactly what I’ve been saying as soon as I started my new job. Having this mindset makes finding a better opportunity down the line so much easier. You are the CEO of your career!
@@BoydClewis I am 21 years old and a recent computer science graduate. I am looking to land an IT role but mainly looking for a cyber security role. Any advice on how to land a job or what to do in the mean time?
@@marco7838 if you didn’t take internships in college you’ll have to start in help desk and gain security related knowledge in those roles and then put them in your resume then pivot into cybersecurity. If you got internships you can probably skip Helpdesk and go for a junior system admin role and pivot to a cyber role faster.
I understand that you are talking about your mindset, but you can’t change the definition of what an employee is. You wouldn’t be where you are now if you didn’t have those opportunities to get you where you are today. Why equate a tech job making 6 figures that you got with only a high school diploma to a scam?
This advice is %100 spot on! I have been doing side gigs for the last 15 years, and it gave me a world of experience outside of my regular job that paid the bills. Even if you work with a local not-for-profit, you are still keeping your avenues open by consulting. It does wonders for your confidence, because you feel like you have value with more people than just one employer. This is truly the future of the tech field! NEVER put all your eggs in one basket!
How do you manage your LinkedIn account? It seems to be an issue for me to list that you are "double dipping". I agree with what you are saying 100% FYI !!!!
the cybersecurity isnt a scam relying on the one job is the scam you should always try and work for yourself in a any career not just settle for one employer very good
I asked a friend of mine if his company had positions in SOC...he said screw that lets start our own...we're now meeting once a week just learning about assessments and trying to play around with business plans....this video wasnt what I was looking for and although I currently work as a network Analyst i'm slowly realizing that this isnt suffice. I watched your other videos so I wont say that this is click bait...there's alot more to the story and I'm sure you're grateful for the humble beginnings.
Over 10 years IT experience in Tech Support and IAM Lead roles. Third week at a new job. Grateful, and determined to KEEP a Positive Attitude. BUT after being able to work remotely for 3 years, I am tied to a cubicle and it's not what I want. I don't need to break the bank but I like to get close to 6 figures while being able to work wherever I want in the world. Thinking about redirecting to Cloud or Cyber but I am dreading just being an employee and needing permission to live my life the way I want. Thanks for the mindset.
So I’m a teacher and looking to switch careers into Cybersecurity I’m little stuck on where I should start. Idk if I should just get a certification or goto school & get a degree
Get a cert. I'd say Net+ then Sec+. If you're starting with zero tech knowledge then I'd say study/get A+. Those certs help you build your it knowledge. Sec+ helps with fundamental IT security knowledge.
This is hands down the best video I have seen in 2024! Thank you so much for the insight and effort in delivering this message that I needed to hear now that I finally broke in the field.
I mean really all you are saying is have a side gig that you can always fall back on. I've done that and will always do that. Sell on ebay it's rewarding and you can always fall back on it and make some great money. In his experience yeah that makes the most sense but majority of people actually don't have that type of experiences. Like for me I'm 36 and struggled to get a good job found a decent job stuck with it for 6 years and just got laid off so now trying to find the right thing I want to do. Life is like that it's never all about rainbows and some are going to have better luck than others. Moral tho is always keep trying get back up and keep trying. Eventually things will happen.
Im also working on getting educated in cybersecurity and get my CC certification. Been in the service/helpdesk for a decade now and its become the utmost mundane cycle of events.
I hear ya Vic and maybe its perspective. All I know is there is no shortage of candidates as you yourself just said. Ill allow you to argue the rest@@VicMansaMusa Thx for the comment tho.
@@mrb6804 no, I didn't say that at all. In fact I said the opposite. I am an operations engineer servicing around 216 companies. Trust me, their first complaint is finding IT and other skilled people. Your thinking will discourage kids that want to get in IT.
The way you put this really reminded me of something important. Thank you for the perspective and encouragement. I hope you succeed in reaching more people with such a potent message.
This is what I have been thinking and planning to do. Great to hear from someone who has proven that the idea works and is possible. Thank you for the content. Priceless.
Great video. As a single father and an entrepreneur at heart, my mindset is always on "what can I do to be the CEO of my life and not slave away my time that could be spent with my daughter." This video puts things in perspective for me that even if I have a job, treat it as something that will shape my Title and accolades as a person. I've worked WITH American Airlines, not FOR... I'd definitely sign-up for your academy, but reasons... nonetheless, keep doing what you do!
Pls I’m confused,I’m a 21 year old boy going to university by January but l wanna transition into tech ,please which one should l choose between cybersecurity or software engineering Note:l don’t have any knowledge in computer science
Lots of empty words. Interesting perspective however coming from someone that sells courses/classes on how "get a job in Cybersecurity". Have we switched to the "you dont need a job to make money" part of the course?
You would have more subs if you didn't reduce yourself to clickbait. I will dislike this video and not recommend channel. Learn from this and I wish you well.
