Why Gloria is your FAVORITE Character on Big City Greens. 

The mom is so cool especially since you don’t really see incarcerated parents in animation let alone an ex con mom

Big City Greens is SEVERELY underrated, my favorite characters are Gloria and Nancy Green. Can’t wait for the video!

I could DEFINITELY understand Gloria's animosity towards Cricket on multiple occasions. However...back in the show's beginning, I questioned many times why she acted just as mean towards the likes of Bill. Imagine my surprise when in Season 2, Gloria start viewing Bill and Nancy as (in her words) a second set of parents. So, by the end of the season; it's safe to say she's not Gloria Sato anymore...she's GLORIA SATO-GREEN!

Gloria Sato is a great character who makes an already funny show 100% better when she's onscreen. Also, Anna Akana is fucking hilarious, especially when she's playing what's basically a child-friendly version of her public persona.

Gloria is painfully relatable. Since i am also a millennial with a degree in animation, I’ve worked retail at 3 different stores, a Chuck E. Cheese, all jobs I did only for a paycheck otherwise I never would have volunteered for that kind of complaining and whining from customers, and I have tons of art I’ve drawn that I don’t know how to promote or get my foot in the door on my own, meanwhile classmates I graduated with have gotten married, have families, kids and careers all figured out. It’s beyond frustrating feeling like you’re doing something wrong when you’ve been doing all you can.

Gloria is the living plight of the Millennial who did everything by “the book” and the system still shit on her. Which, resulted in her terrible overall attitude and, her dislike for Cricket(early on)because he doesn’t understand adulthood due to his “blissful kid ignorance”.

I LOVE that she's voiced by Anna Akana who's also behind the voice of Sasha Waybright on Amphibia. She's the real reason I got more interested in BCG.

Gloria is the responsible young adult compared to the much more popular teen slackers like Enid and Wendy which is a breath of fresh air.

Gloria is totally one of my favorite characters of all time! The episode 'Rent Control which is the one with Gloria confessing to her parents is legitimately one of my favorite episodes of all time.

I’m so glad Gloria now has a wonderful family she can lean on if she has any kind of problems.

Gloria is a good character. At the beginnning of the show, you would be assuming she's like squidward from Spongebob, where he never redeems himself. But instead, she gets a lot of character growth, and learns more about the greens.

What you said about parents comparing one child's accomplishments/praising one child's accomplishments over another is so true in so many ways. It's a crime so many characters in media have committed for years. The people of Amity Park relentlessly praised Jazz Fenton's name, while shaming Danny to no end. The Loud Parents, Lynn and Rita are always expecting Lincoln to be as active/involved/smart as his ten sisters (even the baby, Lily.) The Longs constantly shamed their son, Jake for who he is; all while singing the praises of his sister, Hailey. And don't get me started on the Simpsons

Another reason why Gloria is also my all-time favorite Big City Greens character is because she has the same voice actor as Sasha (Amphibia)!

Gloria is the only character in animation that represents the struggling millennial.

Gloria is one of the Most realistic portrayals of Millenials/Gen Z's in all of Entertainment.

I really do love the love-hate relationship that Gloria and cricket shared at the beginning of the series. And I like how it grows throughout the series to her warming up to him. Gloria is a self reflection of us adults in real life.

When I first saw her early on in the series, it was one of the few instances I can think of where I legit wanted our main characters to just back off and leave them alone 🤔

I adore Gloria but my two favorite characters are Tilly and Grandma Alice. They make me laugh the hardest.

Gloria from Big City Greens is such a great character! She reminds me of Candace Flynn, Lori Loud, and Frankie Foster. So many awesome cartoon ladies to love!

I recently started to watch Big City Greens and I’m enjoying it pretty well so far. And yes Gloria is one of my favorite characters along with Cricket, Tilly, and Chip (he’s a cool antagonist okay). Gloria does have her questionable moments for me but most of the time I can understand why she does what she does. And being a 17 year old girl who’s gonna be stepping into the real world soon I feel like I’ll be able to relate to Gloria more as time goes on. I can definitely appreciate a character like this in a cartoon because it can set a good realistic example to kids that yeah real life might suck once you get older but there’s still hope out there you just gotta look in the right directions.

5:29 That's actually a turning point in their relationship. Despite former arguments they're forced to work together to a common goal. The start of multiple amusing and at some scenes touching team-ups. Just like episodes revolving around Cricket and Chip, I love episodes revolving around him and Gloria. The former are so hilarious and stirring like feud fight (Especially the German version) and the latter are also amusing and cute. That's the reason coffee quest holds a special place in my because it has both of my favorite characters in it. An good for example Cricket and Gloria episode would be "paint misbehaven" This episode marks their first team up and gives more insights in Gloria's nature. She is an unsuccessful artist with a low wage and an annoying, yellow-skinned goofball. And even though the the audiences in the series never compliment or acknowledge her work because they find it not good but are actually very good for an audience in the real world. Well doesn't that sound familiar ( Hust Squidward Hust) It's obvious for everyone that Cricket is Gloria's best friend in Big City and probably the little brother which she never wanted but was glad and grateful to have him later

They shouldn't just be proud of her eventual success but also of her ever-going efforts, her obstinacy and that she befriended such a nice family. But no they just belittled her achievements and compared her to her more successful cousin. They even thought based on Gloria's possessions they did a good job. 11:25 So it makes sense that she pseode smiled while telling her parents of her lie to really push them in and show them that they are completely wrong.

Basically, she embodies all the quirky contradictions that lie within people of all stripes and backgrounds - including us average viewers. I enjoy this show and can agree that Gloria is just totes relatable, and I think you hit the nail on the head with your final summary point.

7:18 I think Kevin is the guy in "Big Resolution". Her new year's resolution was to ask him on a date and she feared he would decline and the world or at least her would break. He did reject because he wasn't in a need of a girlfriend but it wasnt as bad as her worst-case scenario. No wonder why Gloria has a crush on him. Is he handsome? Is he a good-hearted person? Is he a childhood love? Who knows? I hope we learn more about him and for better explanation Gloria's past.

Very nice. Big City Greens is one of my favorite shows. I agree Gloria is such a relatable character like Snow White and Wreck It Ralph because sometimes we feel the world is a bully to us. Come or think of it Ralph and Vanellope’s relationships is sort of like Gloria and Cricket’s relationship, because they like them they went from annoyance to each other to being like siblings to each other. While Gloria is sort of like Squidward, she is more humble than him. Also like George Wilson from Dennis The Menace who was understandably annoyed at the Green’s so like Dennis the Green’s try to improve them. Like George Gloria even lashes out at them by working for Chip even after trying to improve them which from her perspective was the last straw. But do warm up to them after realizing the error of her ways.

In the episode "Supermarket scandal" he thought that the possibility of people eating his fake food would be thinking 10 steps ahead while Bill corrected him and told him it would be 2 steps at most.

It's because she's the one of the few decent characters on the show who isn't annoying or pathetic, is hardworking, is relatable, and is precious!

The episode where she pretends to have a house to get her parents' approval resonated with me. I especially love the scene where her parents completely believe her and then say that it was good that they were hard on her because it "made her successful", which is when Gloria reveals the truth of her being unemployed and not owning a home, just to prove that her parents mistreating her and comparing her to her cousin did NOT, in fact, help her do better. As someone who has parents who put me down my whole life and compare me to themselves or my siblings, then say that they're "doing it for my own good", that scene was so satisfying, for some reason. It was pretty funny too. Being hard on your kids, if anything, makes your kids worse off. I also notice that once she and her parents make up and her parents apologise and tell her they're proud of her, that's when she actually does better and seems overall happier too.

It's true that Gloria has devoloped some animosity against Cricket at their initial encounters but unlike Chip she isn't petty or childish and has a much kinder and overall better personality. She knew the value of hard work and needed stamina and perseverance to survive. She reminds me a bit of Scrooge Mcduck That's is the reason why I respect her. Ordinary origin but big Ambition. The fact that she declined Chip's shabby offer of working at wholesome foods is further proof of her decency and loyalty and if she continues to strive diligently and undeterred I'm sure France will in front of her in no time. Yes she can sometimes be condescending towards Cricket and a little vain (She almost busted with pride when she flaunted with her patriotic and uh... "flirtatious" picture. Come on Gloria. Flattering oneself is such a lame stereotype.) But nowhere on the same level as Chip. Additionally she is honest, responsible, polite and has in contrast to chip has more poetic and romantic dreams and interests Because of their distinct traits they went opposite paths: Gloria saw Crickets friendliness and gave him a second chance while Chip never was able to give them a second chance. From that point on she grew more fond of the greens and recognized that she wasn't alone and they were destined to become her surrogate family and became happier in the process. While Chip wasn't mature enough to forget a measly mishap of the green family which was actually his own fault and he was offered multiple chances of forgiveness and friendship like Gloria but unlike her he gambled them all away. He could also have a surrogate family but he chose to pursue his petty and unjustified obsession. He took it to the extreme on "Chipapocalypse now" and lost his public image, his sanity, you surely see where this is going. Overall the greater insight into Gloria's character, her nice traits and her improved and really touching relationship with the greens( Especially her screen time with Cricket) her shift into the main cast and that she represents us determined young people with little to begin with but so much to hope for and who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and rarely give up no matter how difficult it can get makes her one of the most interesting, admirable and of my favorite characters of Big city greens.
