@@theebadluckgamer I've made my character, and the game starts this Saturday, super excited about it. After reading more into Gunslinger, they're even cooler than I thought.
@@timelessninja Honestly I think they did gunslinger really well, I am glad this video could help convince you to try it out! You will have to tell me how it goes for ya.
I've not really included firearms in my homebrew settings yet for lore reasons. I think I'd enjoy playing it more in someone else's game. Cool aesthetic though. ~ Adam
@@BakerLegate-zh6bh No, actually. There is undiscovered ancient tech that was destroyed in a cataclysm that pretty much reset the world's tech level, but that has really been discovered yet. ~Adam
they need a 'WAY" called the "Arcane Gunslinger" it would allow a gunslinger to cast spell attacks through their firearms. their chosen weapon would become their spell focus, and they could choose limited spells from the arcane lists.
Honestly i was hoping it would be like that but sadly it doesnt 😢, i mean even a limited spell list would be fine but the most "magical" aspect of the spellshot is adding +1 dmg of an element that does not scale which is pretty sad. The only other way to something like this from what ive seen is having the crafting munitions feat and just build a lot of elemental bullets, because for some reason the spellshot locks you out of other dedications (except beastgunner but thats at like lvl 6) so even if you wanted to add a bit more magic, you cant.
I'm currently debating whether to make a Gunslinger vs. making a Fighter with Point-Blank Shot and the Dual-Weapon Warrior archetype (or Gunslinger Dedication - I haven't decided which yet) for Dual-Weapon Reload by level 4. I think I prefer having the Attack of Opportunity and higher proficiency with other weapons over the Gunslinger's Ways
Just bought Guns and Gear and will be checking it out tonight, I glimpsed through a little on the way home, and like WOW... it's looking really good, need to cross-reference with Gunslinger in the Core to make a proper review myself..I really hope this is a really good class with minimal rework., but so far it's looking promising.
Question about stab and blast: if you attack with a bayonette first, does that mean that you use your lower non-firearm weapon proficiency, and this have a reduced chance to hit? Could be a valid consideration when deciding whether to use it.
You do strike with the melee part first but you would be using the same weapon proficiency bonus as any other martial class would be besides fighter at that level. And at an added bonus you would then fire your gun at a +2 circumstance bonus with no higher attack penalty since the attack penalty is applied after the two strikes.
I wouldn't call that an absolute- if it doesn't fit the GM's tone, then it might feel intrusive, and no mechanic, no matter how well-designed, can really overcome that. All in all though, they fit most medieval-esque settings, and it's good that more GMs are fine with their PCs using guns.
@BloodiedShingle I disagree. Only on the principle that the alternative means no guns. Obviously cant have that. (Also this is a bit of a meme I have on the Tabletalk streams we do on the channel. I aint being 100% serious.)
It’s a fun class but in retrospect its pretty weird Paizo keeps making gunslinging a class. To the point that they made guns want critfishing. Its like if Archer or Swordmaster were classes. I don’t get it. Did I say class enough times?
I don't like it. Because I don't like how they designed guns. Or how they are just built around critical fishing. I hate the reload mechanic. It's all a no for me
Reload 1 is no problem at all. Gunslingers all get ways to do reloads paired with other actions, and there are feats for more options to do the same later on. Reload 2 is a trap. Don’t use crossbows with reload 2.
It seems that many feat are attached to penalties and for what?..balance???..Am the type of GM that doesnt like punishing players because game mechanics do things like this and believe me these feats are pretty awesome but with the attached penalties just brings the class down., but i do love that flesh wound feat and how exactly is that going to help in higher levels??...does it scale?? ( yes i dont have Guns and Gears yet ). Most likely will do away with these type of game mechanic penalties ( except misfire, which btw is brutal but I like it) and just let players have a good high fantasy fun ( I dont worry about the game getting broken, since i believe the only person who can truly break the game is the GM ). Good video and will be watching a few more along the way.
@@Rubycule In the video he talks about a couple of feats and class mechanics with some penalties to other factors.... would need to see the vid again to point them out but am pretty sure you can see it for yourself.
