Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the redevelopment of Gurgaon railway station along with 554 other railway stations and 1,500 overbridges and underpasses across the country. The redeveloped Gurgaon station will have world-class facilities, multiple entries and exits, and a multilevel parking, catering to the rise in passenger traffic and improving connectivity in the region.
Friends, soon there will be a world-class project coming to Gurugram. And this will be the first world-class mega project in Gurugram.
We are talking about the redevelopment of Gurugram's Gurugram Railway Station. It will not just be a sight to behold but also won't fall short of a world-class airport.
Despite Gurugram being the Millennium City and Cyber City of the country, there hasn't been any world-class bus stand or railway station here yet.
But the Indian government has approved the development of a world-class railway station in Gurugram.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in February 2024. The aim of this scheme is to modernize the country's railway stations.
This includes the redevelopment of 554 railway stations and 1,500 overbridges and underpasses across 27 states and union territories of the country.
The redevelopment of the Gurugram Railway Station is also included in this project.
It will be transformed into a world-class station within three years with an estimated cost of 300 crores.

Gurugram Railway Station, which plays an important role as a transport hub, requires significant and necessary development. The main reason behind this redevelopment is that the existing railway station is outdated and lacks facilities. Hence, there is a need to modernize it.
Despite being a major player in the country's economy after becoming the economic capital of Haryana state, Gurugram Railway Station's facilities are quite limited. There is a lack of toilets, waiting areas, and adequate seating arrangements for passengers at the station. There are barely three platforms at the station, and passengers won't find any coolies for assistance.
After development, the Gurugram Railway Station is planned to be converted into a modernized hub. Known by names like Cyber City and Millennium City, Gurugram Railway Station will be completely converted into a world-class railway station facility at an estimated cost of 300 crores. The station will be built like an airport with 9 floors, where 3 floors will be used for railway purposes, one for passengers, one for food courts, and the remaining four floors for commercial outlets.
The redeveloped station will be 15 times larger than the existing station. The existing station is built on 1,500 square meters, while the redeveloped station will be built on 23,587 square meters.
The proposed Gurugram Railway Station is based on a G+8 design. Platforms will be increased for passenger comfort, making traffic control easier.
World-class facilities will be included, such as a Modern Station Building, lavish waiting lounges, waiting areas, clean washrooms, ticket counters, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, waste management, world-class interiors, Rooftop Plaza or Air Concourse, multiple entries and exits, food courts, retail shops, pick and drop points, green spaces, and a multilevel parking.
Overall, the redevelopment of the Gurugram Railway Station aims to improve travel experience for passengers and enhance the city's connectivity and infrastructure. It will ensure world-class facilities along with comfort, convenience, and safety for passengers.
