@@vinicin.782 because the developers of those tools just don’t feel like adding it to windows and plus any hacking tools like metasploit would be deleted by antivirus software like windows defender on windows because it would be flagged it as hacking

Debian based OS you can find that are beginner friendly are Debian 12, Ubuntu, mint. Doesn’t look sketchy but for me I use endeavor which is arch based and have the black arch script on top of it to download the tools such as nmap, Sqlmap, metaspoloit etc etc. hope this helps

i have some networking background and i have kali linux set up in a VM what should i do now what do i learn?

@@leons.kennedy3488 Great start, next my suggestion would be to start with Wireshark since by itself it is one heck of a powerful multipurpose tool, so make sure you read / watch some tutorials on it as it WILL help you to understand the rest of Kali and dovetails with networking... you will see exactly what I mean... also Wireshark is one of THE tools even the most elite of white/blackhats make use of. I hope this helps you... ps... the more you use kali the better you become at using it anyway.

@@leons.kennedy3488 Not sure if youtube but seeing my reply was removed... anyrate since you have a background in networking, start with Wireshark. It is a powerful tool with MANY purposes, and learning by way of tutorials (in-depth) will invariably have you expand outwards... for you that would be a good starting point. Remember also that unless otherwise start doing things by using the terminal, the more you do the better. Lastly make sure you use solid OSINT framework (there are quite a few, but you will figure out which is best). I did reply, not sure why it got removed but if such happens again I will find out, no big issue, just always the case of setting aside time to see EXACTLY who, why, when my replies are removed

There are essentially four distro's geared towards cyber security matters (which I recommend). 1. Kali Linux 2. Parrot OS 3. BlackArch 4. CSI Linux listed of course in order of my recommendation. 1 and 2 being both Debian based and very similar to another (tools differ and GNU). 3 is good but may be WAY too much for most. 4 is good but aimed for those who want something to create 'cases' and such, easier would be to look for yourself. You do not need any of these distro's however, you can use say Arch Linux and DIY the rest to your needs. Thing is, prefer Kali.
