I'm mostly focusing on the anime, but I am going to talk about parts of the manga that I think are important.

Dude, do it. That is one of my favorite anime. Her aunt and her definiton of love is what resonated with me. Characters emotions, actions it's just feels so relatable. Wish you good luck with the video.

Given the nature of HSL, I hope it resonated with you in a way the Aunt would NOT want.

@@fishmobsmovietv514 Man you would not bilieve it. This video has 2k views and it was recomended to me despite the fact that I've watched Happy Sugar life when it was aired. But for some reason yuotube didn't recommend me your video with 19k views. I'll be sure to watch it as soon as possible and thanks in advance for releasing it.

SPOILER WARNING I have read the manga for HSL a while ago, and I feel that, while the story and topics at hand are interesting and not often talked about due to their taboo nature, the ending is infuriating for the simple fact that while they do try to justify the MC’s actions, the author was unable craft the MC into an antihero, and instead just a plain old villain whose actions can’t be justified by their backstory, thus making their suicide feel more like an evasion of justice, rather than an escape from a system incapable of understanding the full contexts behind the characters. It’s like that episode from Erased where the mother’s actions of abuse to her daughter were justified extremely weakly, that one day she just decided to hit her daughter, rather than trying to develop a progression leading to the continual increase in abuse, and we’re expected to sympathise with her? Maybe if the creator made the MC more relatable to show how anyone is capable of such acts, but what they ended up doing is create such a hatable MC that it repulses away the general audience with the ending, making any statement it tries to make essentially irrelevant in the eyes of public. But as I have said it’s been a while since I have read it so please feel free to correct me if I have misinterpreted anything

To me, Satou is an anti villain, a villain who runs the lines of a hero. I personally never felt like they were justifying her, but explaining why she is the way that she is. I will get into a lot more detail in the video.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. It's been years since I read it, so I have forgotten many details. But one impression still lingers in my memory is that Shio-chan's epilogue afterwards. She turned to experience an even worse future, with even more complicated mental problems, to the point of effectively crippling her further character development. Her story was pretty much ended, with near no potential to be expanded to an after story. I'm gonna take this into a tangent comparison with: Mirai Nikki. yup. lightly pushing aside the edgy shit😅, Yuno Gasai's backstory was quite interesting. To be honest, her story was my first "edgy" story, she has become a core memory in me. what's even worse😂 is that I found a fanfic of explaining her backstory further. "Trials of Yuno Gasai". That fanfic was very detailed, very gory, very depressing to the point of building sympathy for the reader towards Yuno. But I've moved on from that, I can't reread/rewatch any of that anymore. I either cringe for the (now) cliche tropes, or groan for the length of time I waste consuming that story😢

Nearly everybody has a terrible life in that show. The main protagonist is an incest victim and hence has a skewed view on human love. The mother of the deuteragonist was abused heavily which is why she was unable to take care of her daughter, leaving her daughter traumatized and sticking to the one thing that doesn't make her feel hurt. Many of these people are also very terrible people with few exceptions such as Asahi, he was the GOAT except in the end when he was willing to commit murder. I'm sorry but just because it has a lot of themes and maybe good character writing, doesn't excuse the pedophilic themes in it(especially since it is a show for teenagers). I get where you are coming from buddy. I remember good stuff in that show but you really can't excuse that. It's basically about people living the exact opposite of a good life and making bad choices to cope with that and that can be enticing but that does not excuse a positive(it's not even trashy comedy) portrayal of pedophilia. Just because trash can be interesting and have good music and some great characters, doesn't mean you can show it to a 13+ audience. I know, I watched it when I was in my mid teens.
@fishmobsmovietv514
@fishmobsmovietv514 8 месяцев назад
Yes the pedophilic themes are uncomfortable, but I never got the sense you were supposed to find those moments as anything but disturbing. And if someone didn't find them disturbing, then that says more about them than it does HSL.

@@fishmobsmovietv514 Again, I get that but it doesn't excuse it. If you are praising it because it traumatized you and left your gut wrenching, fine but I really can't go that far. It's too much.

@@fishmobsmovietv514 Look, it had cool stuff but whenever I remember it, other than the cool stuff, it make me feel regret and horror. I don't like to hear it as something worth people's time overall. I like psychological horror and I like a lot about HSL but not only was this arguably my very first experience of psychological horror(and first ever horror I've ever binge watched), but was also way too disturbing with regards to it's take on sexual abuse and exploitation for me to consider it something worth talking of without feeling like I've done something terrible. If you wanna do so anyways and think there will be benefit to it, fine but to me, this show was bittersweet, and not the fun kind.

@@ibrahimihsan2090 Hey, that's fine. Your opinion matters as much as everyone's. Truth be told, I want to talk about this show because of how much it does right. Truth be told, the fact you did come out disturbed and feeling as bad as you did, is what the story aims to do; it pitted your moral compass against the characters' and by the way it sounds, you won with flying colors.
