I think it was like 164 countries which includes japan which is a bit ridiculous to me like sony is a japan company that's like saying ford won't sell cars to america
Sony is trying make a profit. That's all the game industry is to them. Microsoft is trying to make a profit, that's all the gaming industry is to them. Nintendo is trying to make a profit, that's all the gaming industry is to them. What a bunch of horrible, selfish companies they are.
So true, I pre ordered betafield 2042 cause i was sick of cod and wanted a team based game with massive destruction and became a cod/apex mix. Iam a huge mortal kombat fan and pre ordered mk1 and wow, this game got nearly no content, bugs without an end, wrong input list and a lot more shit and if you want good skins, ok pay 10 bucks. So I wasted 200 euros for shit and get the most fun since a few years for 40 😅
I think the Helldivers devs should be given more credit on their understanding of their niche market. Helldiver's target demography are people old enough to remember Starship Troopers, Terminator and Star Wars movies or old Co-op games like Halo. These fall on the older side of the gaming community, extremely loyal to their franchises, don't take BS and no amount of fancy skins or battle passes can win them over. They just want to enjoy some gaming after a stress filled day of work. I played the first Helldivers and the servers were 300 divers online at best and we had a blast. The lobby was always filled with moms and dads complaining about logging out of a mission because they have work tomorrow or need to go feed their daughter. The devs knew this and designed a game that suits them. It is repetitive but fun. Progression system is straight forward. The story is complex but simple enough not to take itself too serious. No micro transaction screens everywhere. Just a fun game to kill time with. This is a community old enough to know the tricks of the gaming industry and it is the community the AAA industry dreads. They don't market their products for these communities and that's why the popularity of Helldivers 2 caught the industry by surprise. They don't know where the numbers are coming from but they want to capitalize on them. If you are going to steal from someone atleast find out who they are first.
and that is why helldrivers 2 now has 15% of the player base it did only a few months ago. that niche market isn't very much liked. people really don't want to play the villian. it got to the point where that repetitive got boring very quickly. "This is a community old enough to know the tricks of the gaming industry and it is the community the AAA industry dreads." lol. again 15% of the players still play the game after only 3 months and that number is going down every week or 2. "They don't market their products for these communities and that's why the popularity of Helldivers 2 caught the industry by surprise." lol. this is too funny. you can't be serious. then why is the game has 15% of the players still playing and losing players over and over.
Another reason why the HellDivers 2 strike was so effective is that Helldivers 2's player/fan base has a much larger portion of older players, Helldivers has been described as a "Dads' game" meaning you gave adults anywhere from 20 all the way to 40 or 50 playing this game. so these are players and fans who will not be disrespected and pushed around easily, they will push back. nothing beats old age and treachery.
Yep.... 36-year-old year who has been gaming since NES and Atari. I've hated the way the major game industry was devolved. HD2 was a breath of fresh air. I still enjoy it and enjoy the community. Feels like the old days.
The Age of Empire IP is owned my Microsoft but they've been very nice to the game and community. To be fair, most RTS players are older and won't tolerate such stuff. Also the AoE2 definitive edition (new remake) is in direct competition with the older AoE2 HD edition.
@@MrWhateverfits They are an independent. They aren't owned by Sony, their stock isn't publicly traded and they have a total employee count of about 100 people, which includes community management and their fucking janitor.
Point is other games are competetive. That's why their comunity is so toxic and diverse. Helldivers 2 is a game where you play together. That's why this comunity is so awesome and friendly. When I thought this game would be harsh to low lvl players I see now that high lvl players take low lvl players to high difficulty matches to carry them. Willingly! Competetive games players hate each other, Helldivers care about each other.
Like someone else said - the market here is all a bunch of aging millennials. We all got jobs now. Got kids. Teenage angst filled verbal war was the cool thing 20 years ago. We’ve aged out of it and just want to have some fun now 😂
@@privatetrolldier5640 Just today I and one 70lvl guy played 5 games with 10lvl cadets on 7 difficulty. We even got some strategems for them they don't have yet. We know how great their experience was and we glad to do it for them Cause we know they'll do the same for others when they got stronger.
Spitz got fired for having an emotional outburst lmao. Spitz had no intention on being a martyr and has a history of questionable behavior. Garbage CM thats almost as bad as Baskinator.
I feel bad for those who can't access Sony Playstation and Helldivers 2. You have a valid point that we, the players, to have the triple games companies really need to listen to us gamers that we want good video games and not bad video games.
Its because playstation is being too hard on the pc community with their tactics that's costing their player numbers even tho majority of the players were from pc only
I looked this up and you probably should have too. The best argument found for PC having higher numbers was the second week of release when it was a 50/50 split, otherwise the only people who claim PC is higher came from websites like reddit and other user forums
If there’s one thing you can say about Arrowhead it’s that they at least try their best to listen to the community All it takes is one crack in the damn for these greedy publishers to finally get the pushback they deserve, and for other game’s and their communities to follow suit
You’re absolutely right, they listen to all complaints, try to adjust and keep getting better. I haven’t seen a game studio be so in touch with their fan base, I love it. They’re not perfect, but they love their game and it shows
This is why we support games that do us justice and refuse to play crap. Support games like Helldivers 2 & (potentially) XDefiant. Not CoD and other crap.
Fuck yea XDefiant lols amazing. Exactly what MW2 needed to be. Mark Rubin knows what he’s doing. It will be way better that cod. But damn Helldivers is just on another levels the last time I had this much fun in gaming was halo 3 lol
COD: Main "cool" generic characters with plot armor Helldiver: Anonymous well trained no main character Helldiver all equal and fighting together for one large goal (Spread Democracy)
forgot to mention that helldivers 2 is still blocked in 170+ countries i was lucky enough to still have my copy of the game, but my friends who wanted to buy and play the game cant do so anymore. its so cursed that they sell PS5s in a country that doesnt support PSN (so im guessing you can only make a PSN via the console... very scummy)
It's strange to think about the amount of countries that Sony limited, 170+ and there is around 190-200 countries in the world(Might not be right number, cant remember. Its late.), so the vast majority are unable to play or are limited in how they access helldivers 2 and other playstation published/distributed games. Sony destroying their integrity, trust and business with the decisions made recently. Sharks in the rest of the industry might try to cash in, which is fair enough if their competition not only shoots itself in the foot, but drives a 12 inch nail in and pins itself to the shaky ground they made for themselves by ruining their reputation in front of gamers. Helldivers 2 is the spark, or at least its the kindling for another gaming industry reform/revolution, Sony or someone else just needs to make another Darwin award decision again with another reaction as big or bigger than we have had with Helldivers community. A community that is driven by themselves, and incentive of the developers, to cooperate and communicate within and outside the games they play. Awesome summary of what's been happening recently, some people looking in on this, kinda missing the point of where does this lead to in the end, looks like you been thinking about it yourself for a bit. Good on ya.
You’re right on dude. The industry is in shambles right now with all the greed from AAA publishers. HD2 is absolutely the spark, as you put it, to a revolution in the industry. Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoyed 🙏
You should make a video about why the cod "community" is one of the many reasons why cod hasnt reached its highs. Because I've never seen a community that is so toxic and divided like cod. Some ppl like mw19 some ppl like jetpack cods, some ppl like bundles instead of lootboxes and some ppl like vice versa. There is no unity on what want from cod because there are so many games
And that’s what happens when you throw in everything and the kitchen sink, thinking you can make a game that will appeal to everyone. Now the military action movie game is about Nicki Minaj shooting anime guns.
It's not blocked. GoT (and HD2 AFAIR) has its own version on Steam in Japan due to censorship of brutality and few other things. Just like if you bought L4D2 while having your Steam account registered to Germany you got less blood and it was green.
The PSN thing was nonsense. Helldivers is poorly made, but tons of fun. The odds of Arrowhead being able to do that again are basically zero. Lots of studios out there have made a game people really enjoyed, and then never really been able to do it again. I made games for over a decade. I’ve paid attention to the gaming industry for about 25 years and been aware of it for over 30. I’ve seen the patterns .. and worked at plenty of studios that release one hit game … and then fold after releasing several more that don’t go anywhere. Hell, my LinkedIn is still filled with people going through these cycles. Major studios aren’t worried about Arrowhead or Helldivers. The general public will still buy whatever a good marketing team tells them to buy. Most players don’t really understand quality in games (most will confuse fun with quality).
@@lAMDEWAN over what? A few thousand out of 12 million who weren’t going to be able to play but WERE able to get refunds? The people I saw crying about it were in supported regions and seemed angered that they needed to link their account. Not upset about the impact on others. Just upset that they had to …. Link an account and talking about how they were “betrayed”. A free process that takes less than a minute … and let’s be honest most of those people likely already owned a PS3, PS4, or do own a PS5 and already have that PSN account. Want to play borderlands games? Gotta make an account with gearbox. Same thing for EA games, Ubisoft games, Blizzard games …. and on and on. I just bought Across The Obelisk from a year or so ago. First thing they wanted was for me to create an account. Should that little game from an indie shop get review bombed because they …. did an industry norm and asked users to create an account? That’s exactly what most people were really upset about. Should Sony be punished because they don’t have their PSN worldwide? Obviously the games CAN sell on Steam in those markets. They exist to make money. Why do you think they don’t want money from those markets? The review bombing and the outrage over linking an account is nonsense from dumb kids who haven’t thought it through. And news outlets making a big deal about over a hundred countries who cannot play are intentionally misleading people who have somehow not learned to think for themselves or how to question things (which is what school is supposed to teach kids by 12th grade). The continent Africa has about 1.3 billion people, or 1,300 million. They have fewer total Steam accounts than Australia with a total population of 26 million. 26 million people have more Steam accounts than 1,300 million other people (that’s 2% as many people). Yeah? The average annual salary in Somalia is something like $2500. If you do the conversion for people in the US that the same as this game costing roughly $1,200 for the average American. Were players really upset? You can look up the concurrent player numbers on steamdb. You can see ZERO dip in active players from May 2nd when the news came out and they suddenly got about 400k negative reviews. I see a totally normal drop in players from launch and then it remained stationary at roughly 100k concurrent in early May. You can CLEARLY see the drop happening before the news. As most players don’t play for more than about 20-30 hours and were done with a game they’ve had for 3 months. So, people screaming about how they would never play again didn't change anything, and when it ended and people celebrated there was no giant flood of gamers coming back to the game to show support. There is no even distribution of players around the world. Just like 50% of people are female and WAY fewer than 50% of Helldivers are female players. Can’t stress this enough … this was nonsense from people who don’t think very well. Are you in America? Do you revolt against cars that Toyota makes that they don't sell in America? How about cars that Ford makes that they don't sell in America? These are normal business practices. Not all products are available everywhere. Right? You can't buy the same Nestle candy anywhere you go. Should people throw a fit because Canada or England gets options that America doesn't? Or that McDonald's has a totally different menu in other countries and they don't sell those options here in America and people in ... Senegal cannot go into a Mcdonalds and buy the same menu items that sell in India but aren't sold in other countries? It's just ... children not understanding how the world works.
About fun and quality. If I understand them correctly. For me fun is WAY more important than visual quality. There's a reason why RTS games like Age of Empires 2 or Starcraft still have large player bases after beeing out for 25 years (in the case of AoE2). Are they pretty? No. Should they be pretty? Doesn't matter, the graphics are not really important.
@@etuanno I don’t think there are any substantial visual quality issues. There are recurring issues with default models and textures showing up (they appear as purple question marks in game), and there have been issues with stretched textures on corpses since the game launched. Both are pretty minor. Issues with the horrible lighting and the problematic lights in the game are also pretty minor. They fixed the early issues where some combinations of effects made the game unplayable because you literally couldn’t see anything. Though, that last one starts to get to the root of what I spoke about. They shipped with a combination of effects that would make it so you couldn’t see anything. The level was just shades of black and unplayable. That’s not the kind of situation that should make it to players. There are fundamental problems with their decision making and the poor quality they will allow themselves to bring to players. This is a real issue. Did you play at launch? Do you remember how often the game would crash? You couldn’t go an hour without one or more crashes. It wasn’t until about 2.5 months after launch that the game started to become reasonably stable. THAT should be unacceptable. I saw 9 crashes in a single 40 minute level with 4 players. Remember when they released a Friday patch? In the tech industry Friday patches are a no-no. Why? Because if there are issues your team needs to be in over the weekend to fix it. Also weekends are higher than average player count so you impact the most number of players. And, that Friday patch broke the game horribly. So badly that their team needed to come in over the weekend and issue a new patch that only rolled back the previous patch like it never happened so the team could redo that patch and remove the issues. THAT is inexcusable. That’s the kind of thing people lose their jobs over. Remember when arc damage didn’t count for your accuracy? They had just introduced the blitzer. It, and the arc thrower didn’t count for accuracy, and also some other issue that impacted the Tesla tower. Maybe none of them counted for kills at all. So, a patch was supposed to fix it. The patch introduced horrible crashes. If ANYONE brought the brand new and exciting blitzer or the arc thrower into a game anyone in that game may crash (even people who didn’t bring it). This is an unacceptable situation. There is NO way their QA team was unaware of these crashes. Anyone with a few weeks of experience knows that if a dev touches a major system you hammer on the system to look for problems. So, QA would have been aware of the crashes that the engineering team sloppily introduced. But, it would be up to the production team to make the final call on what to include in that patch. Cherry picking which code gets included in a patch is trivial. It would be meaningless to just … not include the new stats “fix” that comes with crashes. They chose to include it and instead of a minor issue where sometimes for some people end of mission stats are inaccurate, they made a willful decision to make the game crash for ANYONE in a level if anyone else had one of the new high demand weapons. They traded a minor problem for a major one. This is a collection of failures. They didn’t roll back they waited TWO WEEKS to fix it. This is unacceptable development. Have you noticed how often when they introduce a patch they have to patch the patch and apologize? It’s nearly every single patch they introduce where they create huge new problems and they need to go back and fix their fixes. This is wildly unprofessional. All of this stuff is in the patch notes. You can view the history of this on their official discord in the announcements and in the patch notes. The game is a ton of fun. It really is. This game is VERY badly made. It’s fine with me if you’re not able to tell. But, you really SHOULD expect your games to work when they’re not in a beta state anymore. What this team has done is not something people should just accept. Do you remember when Diablo 4 came out and players threw fits over how unstable the game was? I played that at launch. You would get occasional crashes. Every few hours. People revolted. Helldivers crashes every 40 minutes and often MANY times per 40 minute mission. They have apologized OVER and OVER about players earning no rewards. You do a mission and you get no XP, no resources. It’s like you never did the mission. Check the patch notes, that is another thing they’ve fixed over and over in the first few weeks of the game being out. Players for this game are accepting an incredibly unprofessional experience because the game is so much fun it’s easier to overlook these things. A lot of the fun comes from the social aspects of the game which technically aren’t even something Arrowhead should be getting credit for. I could go on about this topic for hours. I’m going to stop here. Like I said, I made games professionally for over a decade. I may be aware of things you’re not in terms of how games get made, but the problems are still there and visible for anyone to see … and also clearly documented on their own discord. The game is poorly made.
ThE gAmE iS pOoRlY mADe Listen to this guy, he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about, he doesn’t even know that people don’t take time to read this
They had a metaphorical money printer. But thats not what they wanted, they wanted the PSN graph to have 'line go up' Who the fuck says no to a money printing game?!
Helldivers developers + players are people who have a backbone and stand behind what they want and are willing to take action. I love this change of pace for games.
I am pissed that Helldivers got it’s game-killing problem fixed in a few days while it’s been years and TF2 has still yet to get a functioning anticheat
The logic of the AAA studios is that if they fire more employees to pay less wages and increase prices and expectations of the dwindling dev team, they will make more money
@@lAMDEWAN Yup. I'm actually happy with the state of gaming in a weird way because of the huge availability of those kind of games. I don't miss the big flashy games and am not interested in online stuff.
Born to early to colonize planets, but just in time to witness the greatest war in gaming industry, those AAA studios either join the democracy or they will be liberated

@lAMDEWAN well their so many games out there on xbox and Playstation and pc but majority of it ons cod and fortnite and minecraft and apex legends and roblox Live service games always will be the ones to be mostly played after the crowd has played and beaten these other games that take less than 15hrs to beat
Funnily enough, to those who know it 7 days to die is leaving alpha (maybe) in June after ~11yrs in development. Though admittedly, that may not say much and may be another Fallout 76 where it's completed after launch, this is a rather monumental year in gaming. Perhaps through managed democracy, we may see gaming companies listen to their playerbase more than their investors. Liberty save me, I hope that's not a pipe dream

9:04 Actually, I LOVED Infinite Warfare. It was boots on the ground an in zero-g space. It was a very unique challenge going to ship-to-ship dogfights, to zero-g gun battles, to boots on solid ground, all in one stage. Sure, the trailer was review bombed, but make no mistake, when the game fully came out, it grew on people, and they loved it. It was one of the very few COD games that had a compelling campaign with pretty good star power. Infinite Warfare was above and far beyond that MWIII (2023) extortion scheme with that insult of a campaign.
AAA keeps doing dumb shit because the masses keep mindlessly buying said dumb shit. Money is the only language businesses will ever understand. Deal with it. Boycott AAA. Buy from smaller studios and indies.
The only thing I have to say about the recent psn/sony corpo crap is the way the community behaved towards arrowhead (toxic, spamming, telling devs/managers to unalive themselves) is DISGRACEFUL. I agree 100% Sony sucks and was only trying to boost their numbers but for so many people to viciously lash out at arrowhead was honestly embarrassing.
it's just a one-time thing that will probably won't ever happen again, bcs ubisoft is still working on making you donate all your money for assassin's creed, Activision will not stop selling COD every year with load of cosmetics and battle passes and so on. Even Sony didn't kneeled after HD2 disaster bcs game is still unavailable in 170+ countries just like ghost of tsushima wich already requires PSN account from the start
damn bro.. hell divers 2 is kinda decreasing on players because the development team is nerfing most of the guns for no reason at all and now players a re leaving the game, why can't they just remove the hands from doing stupid updates after the game has been a success?
the answer is, they are not scared at all. helldrivers 2 now has 15% of the players still playing the game and that number is going down every week. arrowhead CEO literally admitted they knew about the PSN linking 6 months before the game came out. right just like steam, Microsoft, and so on who all been hacked as well but you don't have a problem with them huh. how did they take advantage of it when you said it yourself it was on the pages for months and they just didn't enforced it. I am going to guess you are not going to say why they didn't enforced it huh. there was no bait and switch. helldrivers 2 lost more than 75% of the player base before the PSN account linking. lol. oh so the fact arrowhead knew for 6 months that it would happen but blame sony for now enforcing it. lets look at ghost of tsushima director's cut. oh wait, it has more sales then helldrivers 2 did within a week. funny how when the PSN account linking happened, the player count went up. well yes but no. the effect helldrivers 2 cause is now, no exceptions. ghost of tsushima director's cut proved that. geee I wonder why they are closing down so many companies they bought. it is because of you, more on that later. the war is lost. the battle was lost. ghost of tsushima director's cut came out and nothing. congregation, you lost.
That is why I haven't bought battlefield, call of duty or any similar titles in the last years. They're a joke! DLCs battlepasses and what not just to lure some money out of the players pockets or otherwise they only get a half finished game... Yeah sure. I will never fall for that crap. Helldivers took me 2 weeks of investigation type stuff to decide if I really want to throw a single euro into that thing. fortunately my friends could convince me to do so.
Has Nintendo had any major fails this year? With all the other studios and publishers being stupid, I haven't heard anything regarding Nintendo recently.
I bought PS2. Then opt out of the constant money grabbing schemes that popped off. PS3, PS4, PS5, and don't worry PS6 will come out in less than 5 years. Money Making Schemes galore.
I don't think it scares any AAA developer tbh. Activision know they can still sell a weapon skin for £20, EA know they can still create gambling problems with fifa players. Cod literally sold a dlc for £70 😂 people will always buy it.
I’m still playing and I don’t give 2 shits about the PlayStation debacle. It’s 99.9% none of anyone’s business unless it directly impacts you in your personal life
I was planning to buy Ghosts of Tsushima on Steam, but I don't wanna create a PS account 3rd connection, so I pirated the game, and now im playing it for free .
@@lAMDEWAN Indeed and after all of that they still tried to pull it with Ghost... I thaught that they will make exepcion for Japan but HQ of Sony are in California...
I really wish the COD community actually would band together and stop buying all these asinine bundles so that we wouldn’t have them shoved down our throats all the time. The matchmaking is partially centered around pushing you into lobbies with players that have skins and are high skilled so that plebs think buying skins gives them some sort of advantage or fomo
Right there with you man, COD is beyond fixable at this point. The audience they’re targeting has no care for true quality unfortunately. Only bundles 🤢
as a ps5 owner and a helldiver i was against it since day sony really f.. up there until they liberate the whole earth i am not playing the game and leave my review bomb there. WE ALL DIVE OR NOT AT ALL
Pve vs pvp, but still, helldivers is more fun than cod right now. The concept is perfect, being able to seamlessly jump into a game and having everyone fighting for liberation just works.
Arrowhead is kinda finishing what Sony started. theyve been fumbling the absolute W of a game helldivers 2 is for months. but recently the CEO has apparently been having meetings and trying to get the team back on track to stop removing fun from the game so maybe theyll right the ship before it sinks.
It's good to see the community stood up and attacked Sony where it hurts them the most, the money Also, the review bomb reminds me of what happened with the tf2 community recently
