If you can spend the $50, Motion Is definitely worth it!! Even outside of all these effects, you can make your own effects and tools! Plus the animation tools in Motion are incredible if you do any motion graphics whatsoever

Agreed! I have worked on that, but haven’t had much luck. I definitely recommend checking out AddMotion! It’s a must have plug-in if you do any sort of animation in Final Cut. 90% of the animations in this video were done with AddMotion - here’s an affiliate link if you’re interested! • fxfactory.pxf.io/9WyeMQ

Since there used to be an integrated roundtrip Final Cut - Motion - Final Cut - Compressor workflow, having these options limited to Motion makes sense. Now that that integration has been removed, it doesn’t make much sense anymore, and one can only hope they bring that integration back.

You definitely could, but what I recommend is Motion VFX’s mCamRig! It’s completely free, and does just that!

I would love to! I have messed around with doing something similar, but I have several issues I run into, due to limitations from Motion to FCP. But if I am able to, there will most definitely be a plugin and a tutorial!

Nice! As a guy who just published the 11 missing iMovie titles (why Apple? Why? All the others are there!) I definitely get it. But Bro, 54 of the 91 items on your list ARE straight up in FCP. Of the ones left I think only about 10-20 are applicable. Others are kinda redundant, found in other parts of FCP, or not really applicable to editing as much as compositing.

I 100% see the point you’re making! But that being said, nearly all the ones that are already in FCP are missing at least one parameter, and a lot of them are missing even more. I agree some may be redundant, but I have actually found specific uses for the varying effects. That being said, that’s a large part of why this effect is so affordable. While I felt it was adding a lot of value for many of the effects, it didn’t feel like a large enough to step to charge more than $30 (and of course only $20 for the launch week.) Appreciate you fact checking though and making sure my info is correct! I’m definitely human and make mistakes all the time. Which is a large part for my money back guarantee on the plug-in, so that it’s absolutely zero risk to anyone who purchases it.

But even just taking 5 min on each to publish the parameters is a bit of work, especially for ones that are essentially already there. I hope it does well!

Considering the ability to publish parameters was created by Apple for the very reason of sending stuff from Motion to FCP, and the fact that removing this feature would remove one of the biggest reasons to even get Apple Motion, I find it very very unlikely that Apple would disable that.

100%! AE is just far more capable for VFX. That said, it definitely should be. It’s the same cost as Motion… every month 😂 Motion is definitely more capable with VFX than you might first suspect though!

Hey Rivu! You do not need Motion for the plugin to work! You will however need to add .localized to the Motion Templates folder in your Movies. And also need to add .localized to the Effects folder. The fact that they haven't figured out that merging FCPX and motion is a must if disheartening. IDK in my humble opinion, I think only DaVinci Resolve has it figured out. Why is PPro and AE not merged yet? AE should be a page in PPRO, so that you don't need to move from one app to another to work on shots. I get the PPRO speaks to AE and so on, but just having it all be in one app would be so much better.

I agree! I think Resolve is on the right track, and FCP and Adobe have some serious catching up to do. That being said, I still love FCP to death, and the stuff it does do, it does really well. It's easily the fastest editor out there! But there would be zero complaints from me if FCP took a page out of resolves book!

I think they are trying to go with the AE route but if you can’t easily switch apps like AE and PPro I don’t see the point in the route they’re trying to take.

@@jadamaze I’ve been editing in premiere on a PC for the last couple of years, but since I’ve started making actual money from editing I was able to justify buying a 16” Mac as a business expense. I’m 100% switching to FCP because I have too much ptsd from premiere crashing and bugging out lmao.

Hey thanks so much! Curious, have you downloaded and opened motion before? The main problem I see people run into, is the need to add .localized to the motion templates folder, as well as add .localized to the titles, effects, generators and transitions folders inside the movies folder. I wish I had a video showcasing that! But I don’t at the moment. Hopefully I’ll get one made soon.

Definitely, Unsharp Mask, Matte Magic, Spill Suppression. And if you do any sort of glitch transitions, or work with grain, then I would publish the Bad TV effects and Bad Film! Also, take a look in the color tab, there are some really useful coloring features in there as well! -- And lastly, depending on how crazy you want to get with your edits (maybe for a music video or something) I would take a look at all the distortion filters. There are some really cool and interesting ones in there.

The effects that are already found in FCP will still be there. But if there is a variant with additional options, then it will be in the plug-in, with the name of the effect and a +. So for example, the Bad TV effect will be labeled Bad TV +.

And there’s no way to round trip to Motion with X. They’ve been busy giving us useless whiz-bang features like 3-D text. Why? Because their core demo is middle schoolers.
