I doubled my protein intake and cut my calories. Best thing I've ever done! If I have a hard time hitting my protein, I add protein powder to greek yogurt. Tastes like pudding and is super filling. I'm seeing the results and recently I had a bunch of lab work done, and the nurse was so impressed and said I had healthier labs than her.
I hope I'm right on this one. I've been grinding up oats in my smoothies with cottage cheese. Both give a good amount of protein and oats are loaded with good carbs. If you don't like the taste of oats grind them into a powder first before the other ingredients and you barely taste them.
Just the opposite for me. Following these guys, my cholesterol is the highest it's ever been in my life. No toning up or inches lost. This is BS and I think these reviews are fake!
Easy to comment, so much to say , I’m following every advice . Female 160 , 60 years old , since 15 years old aerobics, cardio , Zumba swimming , cycling , last 4 years gaining fat instead of loosing . 6 months ago I started following your channel and start lifting weights 5 pound each dumbbells to 10 each , after 2 months 15 each , now 20 40 total and with barbell from 30 to 60 pound . My weight is the same but I lost 5 pounds of body fat and gain 4.5 of muscle .! Im trusting you 💯 percent super scared at the beginning , but hitting my 135 grams of protein goal everyday . I downloaded Caroline Girvan iron series for free , and weight training 5 , 6 days a week . Left behind cardio and I feel more energetic and strong every day . Hope I can win one of your programs . 😅😊❤
I'm 59yrs old, and first began using protein powder back in the late 70's; every powder sold today is a delicacy compared to the old powders. Imagine cleaning chalkboard erasers and filling a container with the dust. Now add a single Hershey's Kiss and mix it, that was chocolate protein powder.
Thank you for all of the content! 52 year old runner who is trying to revive my 80s weightlifting days. 😂 I teach high school and I am telling my students who lift to watch your podcasts.👍
I love how is 50 plus ladies are showing up in here! 😂 I tell my grown kids about this podcast too! ❤ love you guys and thanks for keeping us up to date on all things !
Really informative! I'm currently 316lb at 5'3" and I am trying to lose as much as I can. Your podcasts give me allot of information so that I can make the right decisions. Thank you for all of you do.
@@norfphilly1345 Not good really, i blew up toe 330 due to stress eating but I manged to get it back down to 323. But due to my uncle living with us, I can't use my squat rack. I've been using my dumbbells instead and have went back to a high protein diet. Just need to get my sleep back on track and I should be good. Though I've been hovering around 316-330 for some years now. I can't seem to get lower. I guess I just got to keep at it.
I've excercised on and off my whole life. Finally decided to take all aspects of my life way more seriously couple months ago after my father passed away. I don't really go to the gym, but mostly do calisthenics and mtb for legs. Your videos have helped me tons by ilustrating the key points I should focus on to maximize my progress. Thank you very much guys! Keep it up!
Magic spoon cereal is awesome! I got the chicken chips for my husband who’s fighting cancer so staying away from glucose/ most carbs, all sugar. Some days he’s so tired he can hardly talk but somehow he exercises every day. He’s amazing.
Switching away from counting calories to just trying to hit my protein goal was a life changer. Admittedly I think my gut does better with more of a carnivore diet anyway but working on finding out why 🤞
I’m excited to listen to this! This past month, I’ve been listening to a lot of different sources/health podcasts on the importance of protein, and I’ve been trying to get at least 30 g of protein every meal, 3 meals a day. My breakfast I try to get 40-45 g. When I’m able to do that, I have no desire for sweets (and I love chocolate and ice cream) and have tons of energy throughout the day. I get my protein in through mostly organic cottage cheese, pasture raised eggs, lentils/beans and grass fed meats. I cook everything from scratch anyway, but making sure I get this much protein has noticeably helped me feel better.
Nice 👍🏽. I do the same thing. Once I have a high protein breakfast, I have no cravings for the entire day. I started doing this because of Mind Pump & it’s been a game changer.
It was actually I who made the post in the mindpump facebook about Sal and dough having weird tastebuds because the protein didn’t taste like donuts .. just to make a point clear tho I made that post in a sarcastic funny humorous way since it is obvious is a healthy protein is not going to taste like a donut 🍩.. never out of disrespect to anyone at all.. I highly respect all of you and I am deeply grateful for all the hard work you guys put on this podcast & YT day in and day out … Hence why I bought the protein which I still drink and have it in subscription because it is great for my gut regardless that to me does still taste like broth but I know I’ll get used to the flavor since it is good for me … so sorry if the comment came across in the wrong way wasn’t my intention to stir some waters or anything of that nature
It's hard to fathom the fact that high protein whole food diets will keep you satiated and at a healthy weight all while making you think you might be over eating all because the health industry made us think low calorie low fat low carb low protein was the only way to loose weight. I followed that programming for years! And I've always been "skinny fat" because of that. Thanks to mindpump I eat my goal body weight in protein and I'm starting my strength training journey! I've never been as confident in the advice I receive in this industry more than now, thanks to this podcast 🙌 ❤️
I love all the fitness content, and think I might even like the dad content as much, if not more. Great point on gratitude. Made me stop and think about the stress of having two kids under three with both parents having full time jobs. Next time I feel anxious, I'll try to focus on what I should be grateful for!
I struggled for a long time eating enough protein. It wasn't until I started to eat different types of protein, and prepping before hand, that I started to see a change in my body and strength. This episode really hit me. Thanks.
Man...this ep had some gems. 1) Justin's story about having to crawl up a hill due to his foot being close to amputee status and how kids today complain over slight discomfort. We were all raised in a WAY different era of "just shut up and do it." 2) Izzie actually having her uncle with no coaching experience be her bikini coach and not knowing any better that his advice was terrible. I mean 1200 and 800 cal blocks with full training frequency? 3) Tim choosing Orange Theory as his training methodology of choice and being told flat out to just stop doing it because it's trash. I loved that Sal didn't sugarcoat and say he could keep doing it a few times a week if he enjoyed it. It really is one of the worst scammer ops in the fitness space IMO.
As a 35 year old yous job keeps him out from 4:30 am to 7pm 5 days a week keeping a high protein diet up is very difficult. I try and keep my lunch around 60 grams and keep a high protein shake for later in the day before dinner. I shoot for 190 grams of protein but find that it can be extremely difficult to find ways to keep the calories up. The one thing that helps is listening to you guys and hearing how other people make it work. This show is awesome and very motivating.
Started listening to you guys just a few months ago and now I'm hooked, I've already got most of your programs (except anabolic advanced 😅) I've got my husband listening to you now too.. Truely inspired by you all to do it the right way this time, for life 😘
Giving my kids sparkling water first before pop was the best decision! They thought it *was* pop for awhile. 😆 They're teens now and love pop from time to time, but they often just go for the sparkling water.👍
Every time I feel like I am needing a bit off motivation these guys always seem to come up with the perfect podcast..great episode guys from both health and family views
Been eating high peotein since watching you guys and am in the best shape of my life!!.. Althought i recently had an accident and auffered hrade 3 ac joint sprain... Ive been very distraught attime and lsot mentally because i cant would anything in my upper body . Its been so demorlizing. I can literally see ths atrophy... I have just been focusing on my legs and trying to rehab.
@jaycollado5801 Winner Winner! Please email Ann ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
I don't know if it's just me but I still struggle with overeating even with a high protein diet. I'm not always full after eating a ton of whole foods like chicken or beef.
One of my favorite things to eat is this marinated chicken breast from a particular store in my area. Robs market Door County marinated chicken breast. So good! But I’ll eat a pound in one sitting (139 grams of protein) and I’m either still hungry or will be shortly after that. And that’s on top of other higher protein meals throughout the day. Or I’ll eat about a pound of grass fed beef sirloin from Costco (love that stuff), and I still have room for more! I know I probably need to add more salads or other vegetables to fill me up more.
The longer you can keep your kiddos away from processed and high sugar foods the more easily they will resist them when they do get them. I’ve got two kids. The older one didn’t have many opportunities for those things until he started school and would get treats there. He’s 14 now and will limit his own sugar intake commenting on it not being worth the way he feels later on. My younger son got exposed to much more earlier on and already at 8 he always wants the cookies and cake. The sometimes foods concept helped with him though. He will now sometimes opt for apples instead of candy because he gets to eat more.
I’m Vegan and follow you guys. I also follow a high protein, mostly whole food diet so that I can build muscle and keep the fat off. There are ways to keep the protein high without the meat. You guys are great and I really appreciate your vast knowledge. Excited to hear about Anabolic Advanced! 🙌🏼
I always love when Sal brings up his Father's tire(or wheel) and stick toy. It was one of our staple toys here in the Philippines, am not that old though, am 28, It's just that it was one of the only things you can get randomly, and to Adam's point, it was challenging but when you get the momentum to keep the tire rolling using the stick it was so fun. 😁
You guys are great! You are so right. If you eat whole foods, that processed foods taste terrible. I love that you guys are loving Butcherbox. I've been getting it for over a year now, that I gave my son and girlfriend Butcherbox gifts for Christmas. I thought chicken nuggets from them seemed weird, but maybe I'll try it.
Last January I had a flesh eating bacteria and I went to the hospital WAY too late. I was in so much pain and I kept thinking it would get better 😂 I guess I'm not a wimp. 🤷🏻♀️ I had to have emergency surgery and I did lose a chunk of flesh 😕 I was in the hospital for over two weeks on IV antibiotics.
If the chicken chips you are talking about are from the brand WILDE, then they are made from chicken breast and egg whites. They have different flavors so each one will vary with their added spices.
This is a good show. I’m flailing. I can’t afford a gym membership, much less a trainer. I have been slowly collecting second-hand weights and such. I’m super obese, and I’ve failed at other diets.
Between Justins foot exploding and Sals chicken cologne, this was a great episode! I love that you guys are shouting the benefits of protein. Lots of fitness people still dont get it. Keep it up guys!
23:00 I was never a snacker but a healthy eater. Started doing the whole 6 meals a day thing and constantly found myself hungry and found myself constantly eating processed foods when I wasn’t able to get to my foods. Worst thing I ever did as I was someone that naturally stopped eating at 3/4 every day. (My normal lifestyle came back when I started doing IF. When I stopped everything felt normal again)
@@MindPumpShow yes it does! Keep up the great work! I'm a trainer (about 6 months now) but have been in the fitness space for years. Love this podcast and the group of guys (and women) both in front and behind the camera!
The last listener Q was great. As someone who now has 6+ months of Muay Thai training , I wanted to see how others balance their overall regime. I have an equal 3 day split with BB / resistance style training at gym and 3 days Muay Thai at dojo . Not on same days. Which has forced me into a full bod style program. Some reason the high volume 12+ reps isn't responding the best with me as much . The 6-8 range on presses n lifts is better managed . Unfortunately I did lose some size in arms and legs.
Regarding that first caller….good grief…..what’s up with these coaches killing people with these ultra low calorie and ultra high cardio regimen ? Ridiculous. Killer show today…..greetings from Texas 💪🏼
Amazing content! I’ve been upping my protein intake significantly since 2months ago and I start to see difference. Look forward to train with MAPS Anabolic Advance!
Keto was designed for people that have seizures and dont want to die from them. Caloric intake aside, low carb is good for sedentary people but it is the enemy of peak performance for most athletes. Fuel your workout.
It's amazing people (me included) ever listened to the media about nutrition and meat especially. We've been eating increasingly more processed foods, more carbs and in some cases entire diets that only contain vegetables. Yet we are getting increasingly weak and unhealthy. Then blame it on the meat we aren't eating.
So true about your pallet changing. Coming from someone who grew up on a mostly processed food diet! The transition took time but I can’t imagine eating some of the things I used to eat. Yuck!
21:41 if you're consciously eating what you're supposed to, there are no cravings at all. Eating what you're not evolved to eat will result in cravings and a cascade of health problems downstream. Your choice 😉
Timely video guys! Wound up at 48 years old 5'10" 332lbs. Eating Carnivore I lost 130 lbs! Could not get under 200 lbs no how I try. and if I got to be honest Carnivore feels a little "much" at this point. 5 month stall! Started watching your guys stuff (Sal you're all over the place!) I started aiming for 2-1 protein to fat and 150g of protein a day. Made me replace some fat with protein. With the lower fat the same amount of food has less calories IE NY strip instead of Ribeye or chicken instead of beef... and tah dah! 198 this morning! Super pumped guys, thanks for your help!
I’m noticing sometimes ppl always need to be yo yo dieting but also doing the same with different training / trends on social media / group fitness routines .
I'm angry that I listened to you guys. I increased my protein, put on 10 pounds of fat, and for the first time in my life have high cholesterol! My clothes do not fit looser and I'm in no way leaner! Sure I'm stronger, but it's as if the muscle has just pushed my fat out, absolutely made me bulkier. My thighs are so thick, I can't cross them. 1800 calories/ day and 100 grams of protein did this. This diet DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE and now I'm thinking these reviews are fake!
I did a quick search for chicken chips and the only ones I could find were like 170 cals per serving with 10g protein, which isn't enticing enough to purchase. 14g protein at 100 cals would be great, though, if anyone knows the brand they are referencing please share.
Thank you so much for mentioning the polymorphisms regarding saturated fats! I haven’t heard anyone talk about this and I have those polymorphisms. Mine are related to insulin resistance from high saturated fats so I’m not sure if this is the same. I do only stick to grass fed meats and so that is good to know
I've been avoiding meal prep but man hitting your protein daily wityhout prepping is really hard. I have a sous vide, rice cooker, I'm set. But I think I'm gonne only meal prep for like 3 days at a time. When I did meal prep in the past I would always shoot for like 5-7 days and I think thats why I fail at it.
Yes, there's still a lot of misinformation about protein! I hear so-called experts say erroneous things on other podcasts quite often. I have seen firsthand how a high protein diet is superior for my health.
I understand what Justin means about toughing up children lol but because of how toxic our culture was growing up is the reason why kids are more softer now. There’s more awareness and healing for children that are targeted or bullied. But I struggle with the way this next generation is an everyone wins mentality and gets a participation trophy.
1:10 this is why there should be a legal requirement where you aren’t required to fulfill a year long contract without a trial month first with these prep companies. I hope the cardio bunny company that is calming down comes around to the information u guys are sharing. They tried started with me out with 1600 calories while I’m 5’10 and was breastfeeding.. I made my coach look at some papers. Couldn’t trust her after that crap. (Maintenance was easily 3000 calories and even tested it said 2400 rmr and 3300 for maintenance)
On the 3rd phase of Maps 15 and its kicking my but, would love to go to Anabolic next if that's what I need, i need to lose alot of weight like close to 100lbs, would love to do that with this program, I'm a single mom of 3, that has gone through menopause and I'm hoping in a year i can be down at least 50lbs, i try to reach 250 grams of protein but its really difficult since my job is driving so i travel my whole shift and when i come home i try to eat some type of meat protein and a Paleovalley protein shake to catch up on protein, the past couple months on Maps 15, I've gained weight but clothes were getting loser and now it seems like they are getting tighter again, I'm worried about gaining more weight, Please Help
- Hey guys, amazing show as usual! :) 1) Soo, I've started following you recently and in your "30 days E-mail training lesson on Proteins" you mentioned that there's been a study saying many proteins might be causing cancer and living shorter (Podcast in which you've been talking about it is from the year 2016 though...) - so what are the studies saying now about proteins + cancer + mortality rate, etc...? 2) Also, I'd like to hear you talk about Yoga as well. What kind of Yoga could we do in a combination with Stregth + Resistance training? - Is there a Yoga that can completely replace Strength + Resistance training and allow you to have 10% body fat (or even lower) ---> I'd like to know this in case I find out I don't really like Stregth + Resistance training and would love to do Yoga instead)...? - My goal is to be at around 10% body fat forever (with Yoga, if possible). - If you could please talk about those things as well, would be really great! Thank you guys! :)
Guys!!! I tried high protein for the past 2 weeks because of your podcast and I have lost 10lbs and now I crave the Whole Foods I have been eating!! I tried to eat a whopper yesterday and I just couldn’t do it. It felt so wrong and nasty 🤢.
Hi Guys. Have you listened to or read this? Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents By: Lindsay C. Gibson PsyD I think you'll find it really interesting❤
Eggs, lean ground beef, and chicken thighs make getting 220g of protein in every day pretty easy tbh. Granted I was the only one of my brothers with love handles growing up 😂 but now I'm the only ones with guns 💪
