What is going on my mates
Today we're going to talk about why Hobo Johnson blew up overnight | Frank Lopes Jr. aka Hobo Johnson had actually been releasing music for a few years before his video for Peach Scone blew up. He even has a whole album called Hobo Johnson's '94 Corolla that came out in 2015. So why was it that Peach Scone blew up? Why was that the song and video that did it for him? Today we're gonna try to find out why Peach Scone took him from unknown to very known very quickly
By the way, Frank has a new album out called The Fall Of Hobo Johnson that you should go check out if you haven't yet. Also check out his LP before that one, The Rise Of Hobo Johnson.
I like Hobo Johnson.
Best,
Nate
And now.. it's time for the feature presentation you've been waiting for: Why Hobo Johnson Blew Up Overnight

There are so many grossly misogynistic and problematic rap songs out there, Peach Scone is honestly just wholesome content. He never feels entitled to the girl's attention or demands it from her, he just dreams about it. He's just in love with someone who is not in love with him. Never even says she should leave her boyfriend for him instead. Happens to all of us, and he's respectful about it. I'm surprised people got mad!

man i found this guy like a year ago and his style blew me away, I'm a creative type of person and enjoy the meaning behind lyrics in songs and how they paint a narrative interwoven with the rhythm of the song. But this guy, he does it on a whole nother level. I enjoy his songs just cause they feel so real to me and they flow so well when he sings/speaks them, it's unique and I love it. On a side note when I listened to 'Peach Scone' and it got to the 'stunt puller' bit, I felt that it was just him saying how he enjoyed being with this person and wanted to ask her out though he knew he couldn't so he never did. That's why I kinda don't get the hate thrown towards the song and writer cause sometime loves like that and it's hard. Anyway I just wanted to rant about my thoughts because I really admire his work, so thanks to anyone who actually spent the time to read my opinion, peace

Been slowly making my way thru NPR Tiny Desk concerts and watched Hobo Johnson's a few weeks ago. I'm now obsessively watching anything I can find about Frank and his music. I have found a ton of new artists thru NPR but I was absolutely smitten with his work within a minute of the set and forced my boyfriend to watch it as well. The thing about his songs is every time he performs, it's different. There's a different emphasis on a certain rhyme, different lyrics altogether, a different energy depending on where his headspace is at the time of performance. That's authenticity in his craft. He is not concerned with hitting the song the same way every single time like a robot; he lets himself go with the moment. His passion is electric and I'd be so honored to see him perform live. Thanks for making this video and now I'll go check out more on your channel!

I just bought a Subaru Crosstrek. I would've bought a Lambo but I'm not quite there yet. Sometimes I get drunk, and I forget what day it is. I wish that I was skinnier, but I love sandwiches. . Favorite song from the new album!!

I honestly think a lot of people dislike hobos music because it is so fearless and weird. Most people can't handle something so different they'd rather stay listening to stuff that sounds pretty close to the same. I have a lot of respect for him cause he's not scared to make something weird and new. And I think a lot of artists can learn a lot from him, stop caring if your music will sound good to a mainstream audience and just do what you wanna do.

This video makes me so happy. I've been a strong fan of his for over a year now and was lucky enough to actually meet him at one of his concerts. I will never forget the experience and his personality. I can't even begin to describe how laid back he was. Talking to him was surreal. As soon as I found his music, I honestly couldn't shut up about him around my friends. It got to the point where I was asking acquaintances if they had listen to him before and that they should if they hadn't. I am proud that I was able to recruit maybe 4+ people into the world of Hobo Johnson. There is no way that he won't have a hit song on the radio in the next few years!

Super cool video dude. I’m new to hobo and when I first heard his music, I think it was peach scone, I was very interested; but I didn’t have anyone to chat about him and his music with, this video almost felt like a conversation. I like how you addressed his vibe that he sends out, and I too was confused about the hate he got/gets and the way you addressed that also cleared the water for me as a new fan. Anyway great vid like I said before! Have a great day if you see this or whoever sees this :)

In regards to the narrator saying that he'll have a hit song on the radio in a few years:I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, and a few weeks ago I heard his song "Typical Story" on our alt-rock station 97x! :D

Love him or hate him, Frank is easily the most genuine artist out there! He is always himself: no front or act for the cameras, just frank. I have been in love with this man’s music since he sent me some demos a few years back! Truly genuine and original!!

Frank is great! I’ve loved him from the beginning. He’s authentic. He feels what he feels so deeply. This is the reason Billie Eilish went big fast too. A lot bigger cause she’s more mainstream. Frank is genuine. I love him!!! His lyrics aren’t over the top. They are just how he feels/thinks.

Hobo Johnson takes his amazing ability to combine storytelling rap and an odd form of slam poetry and his real and heartfelt emotion and honesty that comes from his personality that makes his music incredibly relatable to the point where I just wanna sit down and relate with him

he didnt explode because of one song, he made it there because he is genuinely good. he was learning and after awhile he got picked up, his learning payed off. now he is getting better and better, making better and better lyrics. theres nothing else to it

When “Peach Scone” came out, I was studying creative writing (like a little writer boi), and I was semi-attracted to 2 of my friends at the same time. One of them already had a partner. When I tell you that that song hit *hard* . . . .

I love hobo, been listening to him since 2015. I was really shocked and ngl bummed (i felt like he was my little secret) when i saw 5.5 mil views. Im happy for him but most of the time when people get more popular their personality, values, and music changes. however he does seem to be still creating musical ART and for that im proud (: i hope his new fans understands his music and doesnt just listen to it bc everyone else does
