I feel his sadness and despair. But , He ll definitely be alright. He is a very skilled actor with beautiful personality. Something amazing will come along, I am sure.
fatma bahri honestly i feel sad for him 2 because simply he’s talented and he’s not finding a role while actually there’s so many actors nowadays getting roles and have zero talent
The sadness and despair of being filthy rich off just one movie, and not getting to make millions more immediately after? Something amazing already did come along, he'll be fine. Your all talking about him, precisely because he has already achieved celebrity status. Where's the necessity for pity here?
@@Absolynth But his passion is acting and how would you feel if you couldn't even get a chance at your passion. Sure he has lots of money but it's still not fair because he has skill and still doesn't get a single audition. Just try to think about it this way, you love your job and at one point you get the opportunity of your lifetime which will help you progress further in your career so you do it. After the experience, you don't get any more opportunities like that and you know that you have the skills for it that your coworkers don't yet they still get more opportunities. Sure you have lots of money but deep down it's frustrating and disheartening. After all that, you can't pursue your passion, your job.
Mr Woosh you think a RU-vid comment is gonna change what Hollywood is doing? Also, I made 2 separate statements. He’s talented. I’m not saying he should only get roles because of his looks.
The reason you said that he was a good actor is because he's handsome. There are many people who are even better actor than him are struggling to make it in the industry.
@@bloodbrs4773 You sound jealous, its people like you that are too cowardly to admit the truth, a non white who looks alot better than you and is a better actor make the american white man insecure, its insecurity of the white man that makes racism, the same thing happened to bruce lee
@@bloodbrs4773 hey tf r u blabbing about? He is definitely a great actor and very professional. If he isnt, why would he be the first human remake of the famous DISNEY ALADDIN?
@@Gem-wo2jk Exactly ... to recreate a Disney classic in live action you have to be a good actor. If not, they would not have chosen him to be Aladdin. In my opinion.
I hope he gets films where this apparent talent can actually be seen. He was forgettable and bland in Aladdin. But I bet it was poor casting/directing more than just him of course.
Oh I agree hes talented but that definitely dies sound very desperate and cry babyish....he sounds like someone upset because he hasn't gotten anything else and hes bringing his race in....that's not a good look for him if hes trying to get roles. Producers arent going to wanna hire him talking that way publicly.
It’s cause he’s worked for Disney. They seem unfair with their main actors in their films. They paid the voice of Snow White $800 back in the day and for her never to lend her voice in anything else. Disney is strict mannn
Ya but he had good talent and did his role well but I guess a lot of hollywood acting places are racist and it is sad because he has really good talent!
Because he's not ethnically ambiguous enough, duh. Rami Malek looks like he could be latinx, Ben Kingsley and Naomi Scott look white (even their names sound white). How many unapologetically middle Eastern celebrities do we even have? Shakira? Please, her Lebanese background is constantly erased. Salma Hayek? Same, Lebanese background never mentioned. Shakira did her zaghrouta once and everyone lost their damn minds. Clearly there isn't enough middle Eastern cultural representation in mainstream media 🙄
Everything you say is true. Fact that they always get mixed race or look as if actors/actresses to play a fixed race role is telling. They can be marketed to Western audiences yet still pass off as true to the story.
@KolTony she can be both. The fact that she did the zaghrouta means she's still very much in tune with her Lebanese side as well. But how often is her Lebanese side highlighted in the media?
@KolTony Don't be so naïve as to think this image of hers isn't being crafted, marketed, and sold to the masses. I'm of dual ethnicity as well so it's not like I don't know the struggle of keeping both identities when one is being dominant due to the place I live in. Therefore I'm only saying that she is not just Colombian *but* she's not allowed to be anything other than Colombian. If someone were to say Lebanese music is selling wouldn't she be pressed to make Lebanese music as well? She is what's being sold and accepted, that's what I am saying.
100% the only brown guy that has ever starred in a movie was that dumb stuber movie. Asian and brown guys never get placed in hollywood. All the actors are white. i believe he will do great and he will succeed.
@@sunshinex2012 i agree, but here's the thing in america, racism is just black and white, all the time. Brown guys and asians are left out and nobody says anything... I'll give you an example: people are way more relaxed and willing to make fun of brown people and asians but very aware when making fun of black people. They will look around and make sure they aren't offending anyone, but asians get treated like crap in public and no one cares, because there isn't history in america.
Nobody is playing a victim, just standing up for my people. I have made a good life here and contribute to my community and work, so I'm not a victim, but i can't ignore the racism in general. People like you are to blame for why this stuff is still happening.
jim halpert I mean he was great in Aladdin but when you think about it he wasn’t the “star” of the movie. He may have been the title character however the people that are most remembered for the performance in the movie was Will Smith and the person who portrayed princess jasmine. Princess Jasmine knew how to really sing which is why I knew she would get more role yes she was the best one to come out of it in terms of performance will smith been already the establish star really carried the Aladdin movie so obviously since he already is big to begin with he was going to get more role. But when it comes to the guy who played as a lad and he just got lost in to other stars overshadowing him. That really what am down too. I’ll give you an example Michael Biehn a.k.a. the guy who played Kyle Reese in Terminator one he played the hero as well too but guess who got the stardom the villain Arnold Schwarzenegger and then of course James Cameron got pretty big as well too but Michael Biehn was really left out in terms of breaking out as a big time star in the 80s. I simply just think it was a case of he was overshadowed by the other actors. Even though he was playing the title character.
He should do small screen roles, to keep money flowing. Invest in writers, a production team and etc and create his own movies. Open doors for other brown people
@@pankajy4437 what are you talking about!? He is already a Christian. He was never a Muslim. Not every Arab is a Muslim. I guess you would have to change that to change his ethnicity.
You do realize that you spelled his name wrong in the title of this video and that is part of the problem cause people don’t care and fact check when it’s not a common and familiar name
@@Lana-ne8bd 2 typos on one title? Wtf . I double check even PowerPoint titles and they do 2 typos in one title and its OK? 😂 these people doing a video before sleep or what
@Lady Wander Hollywood is a business, and America is mostly white people. If black women became a more profitable demographic, then you would start seeing many more movies produced for them. Sorry that's way less sensational to hear, but there it is.
It's true, hearing about someone making millions upon millions that I willn ever see in my entire life, just for that person to find out they can't keep making millions upon millions more immediately after the previous millions, but he might have to wait a bit. Just tragic lol
Aladdin is the first big break that he has had, and even though he did a fine job as Aladdin he needs to just keep hustling. He will get there eventually.
@Prince of this world I don't think so :/ I could name you plenty of movies where there are Black actors, as well as mentioning their names. Regarding Middle Eastern people... It's a whole other thing
Even Naomi Scott, she got a role in the Charlie's Angels thing. Her and Ella Balinska are completely ignored because Kristen Stewart is in the cast and everyone is talking about HER only. I swear I had to read an article about "Charlie's Angels" talking about Stewart ONLY, not mentioning Ella or Naomi.
So I think that he is the best and we all fans say he is the best for it and they shouldn't reject him at all because Hollywood cannot get a better actor to fit in the role for Disney's Aladdin than him and daz lookslike Disney's aladdin and really truly suitable for dis role and also sing and can dance too. SO HOLLYWOOD NO REJECTION TO MRBA MASSOUD NO NO NO REJECTION..!
True. They fill the “diversity” slot with mostly mixed black actors and now East Asians are getting representation in recent years. Almost no representation for brown people and not much POSITIVE representation for dark-skinned black people.
I think the problem is having roles for whites, blacks, browns, yellows, etc.. I mean, if your movie is not about slavery, any specific culture or superheroes/videogames, why are there specific roles for each color? If I were a movie director, I would give the roles to the best actors besides their colors. For me, this is the most logical thing to do.
You have no idea how discouraging and heartbreaking it is to not be even able to enter an audition room until you've experienced it. When acting is your God given passion and dream it tears you apart as you search endlessly for days finding no one casting. Props to him for still holding on, especially with that being his job. Keep going strong and trust, God has a plan.
He would probably get cast again I'm sure. The word "never" shouldn't be there. But I understand if he's worried about this bcs there are lots of other actors who got to act in another movie or show IMMEDIATELY after one of their biggest role. Like Naomi Scott, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard and more. So it's quite frustrating to be in his place.
Releavant GS It’s even longer considering most studios finish filming around 1-2 years before release. People always seem to think they film up until premiere 💀
Not necessarily his skin colour more so his ethnicity because blacks or Hispanic with his colour can get a lot of roles and there is only one role for middle eastern male and we all know what is

I think it’s because Alladin was such a huge success... and now he’s look is “too Alladin” for other characters right now. Directors don’t want to cast Alladin in their movies, they want an actor who can be easily seen as a another character without the audience seeing Alladin. He just needs to give it sometime.
Right... and Leonardo DiCaprio wasn't seen as "too Jack Dawson" after Titanic which was his first real movie?... bullshit reasoning that makes zero sense
@@annisa8863 It's a real issue, it's called Typecasting. And you can't compare him to Mena, he'd had big hits before Titanic, people didn't associate him with Jack Dawson very much. People who were typecasted usually play similar characters, like Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, or Adam Sandler. Unfortunately, Aladdin was a very specific role, it's hard to find another place for him at the moment. I'm sure he'll be fine, once his "Aladdin" persona washes off, directors will start considering him for another role.
*Aladdin. But I get what you mean. It's like with Daniel Radcliffe. He hasn't been in too many HUGE movies since Harry Potter and for awhile after the series ended it was hard to see him as anything but Harry Potter... he is still just Harry Potter.
@@xCandieex yes. Exactly like Radcliff. It happens especially if the movie, other than a BIG hit, is also your first movie. Think of all the people who blew up for their first role, then disappeared. my advice don't expect instant success. It took how many years and movies before RDJ became someone put a bet on him to be iron man. J. He needs to be patient and good things will come. He's proven already his ambition by landing a big movie and even landing any role in Hollywood. He can do it again. Even the biggest stars go through lows or dry periods - he's still young. Plenty of time to shine.
Everything has its timing, especially in this industry (if I remember correctly, Harrison Ford did not get his break out role until he was 40-something, when he was in Star Wars.) I think it is just not Mena's time yet.
@@hasibrahim I feel like the standalone character in that film wasn't really Aladdin himself... sadly, it was overshadowed by Will Smith's Genie. imho It was also overshadowed by the actress who played Jasmine. I actually just watched Aladdin the other day and I thought he did a great job! I don’t have any prior bias as I haven’t watched any prior renditions of this story! I hope he lands other acting gigs!
I really, really hope he gets a chance again because be seems like a really sweet person! Mr. Massoud ( I probably didn't say that right at all!), keep going! One day you will be recognized for the amazing person you are and will get every wonderful thing you deserve!
Honestly, looks aside, his acting and singing was overshadowed by Naomi’s talent. So hopefully he does get another chance but the movie wasn’t that big solely based off his performance; it’s Disney and a live action remake with seems to be all the rage now
아만다Amanda that’s the most id*iotic comment Ive read so far. when the movie is the Namesake of his own character. Case in point “Cinderella”, that starred Caucasian good actors, the lead guy is even from mega-hit cable series “Game of Thrones”, but earned 500 million. while a nobody Mena suddenly casted as “Aladdin”, then does well in Box office at 1 Billion. so dont steal away the credit to him, if his character was poorly acted, you wont see it reaching Billion marks!
Lion Judah triggered much? I said what I said and I won’t take it back because it’s true. He was not memorable to me as Aladdin. There. I said it again. Merry Christmas 😂
@jim halpert - thank you, exactly. Naomi is almost a better singer than actress. True movie lovers know how great Mena’s acting skills were in Aladdin.
But I like his acting more than Naomi’s to be honest in Aladdin. People just got surprise with Jasmin’s character that got changed in movie. But yeah, his acting is superior than Naomi. My opinion.
relax guys, not everything has to be about race, the man had a short resume before Aladdin, he's rumored to be Ezra Bridger in the Ahoska show. He just had big expectations getting in, everything in life takes work and patience.
@@ihatelife486 I can see that too but even then everybody here is just putting all the baskets on race when it's not. Look at his resume before Aladdin. Mena just needs to build his career that's really it. He just got lucky with Aladdin but I believe he will have a great career though. He just needs to be patient and keep working at it.
He has great looks and great charisma. But honestly his acting was mediocre. Not super and cant really say its skilled. Without will smith and naomi aladdin is meh
Mena is definitely talented, good looking and played an amazing Aladdin. He seems like a pretty smart guy too. It's so extremely disappointing to hear this.
Well, he really wasn’t that great of an actor and singer in Aladdin so I don’t think it’s about racism in his case. I didn’t know the actress who played Princess Jasmine in Aladdin either but she surprised me with her amazing voice and even made me cry when she performed “speechless” with such passion. She made the most of her role in Aladdin and, hence, became the breakout star instead.
There's two possible reasons for him not getting auditioned: 1: Aladdin has put him into Type-Cast territory, and people will only hire him for similar roles. 2. He may be considered 'too picky' by some producers in Hollywood when he said he wouldn't play a terrorist type character. Either option is possible
I actually have been working on a script about an Italian family and organized crime in the early 20th century and he would be PERFECT for one of the main roles as the eldest brother. Mena, if I get this on the road somehow, I'll cast you in a heartbeat.
@@soumilsarkar9637 So you know whether or not he's had auditions? Let alone there are plenty of well known non-white actors and actresses in Hollywood. Just Google it. I'll name 10. Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Oscar Issac, Michael Peña, Nasim Pedrad, Kumail Nanijiani, Rami Malek, Tony Shalhoub, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana. All of which have had lead roles and are currently active in Hollywood. Just shy of 70% of the US is white. So I would apply that logic to the overall acting pool. Everyone white or otherwise in the new Aladdin did a baseline acting performance, including Will Smith. I don't get why casting Naomi Scott is on anyone's mind, every movie outside of this has been a flop at the box office.
