I love coming here to read the comments. Some people (like myself at times) are obsessed with reading comments. For example, you find yourself reading this comment right now, which does not contain any useful information, only curiosity, that drives you to waste your time. Have a good day.
In fact, horse hooves are resistant to heat. Some horseshoes are fitted by getting real hot and then pressing them onto the hoof. It's pretty neat to watch.
I can’t relate either because I walk on rock beds barefoot all the time so my feet are used to it. I voluntarily put Legos on the floor to try it out and it wasn’t comfortable but it wasn’t painful either
Yeah it will be uncomfortable. People tend to forget that nature has already provided everything needed. So this is unnecessary. Further the pressure from the nail will give uncomfy sensation.
Small addon: the bottom of the hoof isnt fully keratin. Instead its mostly the outside of the hoof. The middle is thin and is filled with blood vesles called "lamini" [why laminitis is called that] and the pedal bone. The sole and the outer hoof is seperated by whats called "the white line" very on the nose, and its why horse shoes are horse shoe shaped because the nails can only go outside the white line [in the keratin wall]. Also added fact: hooves arent flat on the bottom, a well kept hoof will be lightly convaved showing the grooves and the frog. Source: i did equine care in college :3
Shoes actually protect horses, especially in working environments. Uneven loading can cause their hooves to crack and get infected inside but the shoes keep the hoof more stable and prevent it from wearing down in an irregular pattern from the weight of a rider or other load.
@@Solar_HH128 in the wild, horse typical live in grass land so they don't need shoe. But we brough them in urban area with concrete, stone and asplalt ground. So shoe are needed in those area.
i always remember a rancher talking about horseshoes and saying “you see how big he is? now you see how big i am? believe me, if he didn’t like it i’d be dead right now.”
I'm more interested in how the fug people developed horseshoes in the first place. Imagine an early farrier getting the wrong size nail and getting punted to Timbuktu. Who even decided to try shoving a nail in a horse hoof to figure this out?
Not entirely true, any person can easily pick their feet with a hoof pick. I ain't a professional but I do it all the time because its required to know how to do that when taking care of a horse.
What was the point of mentioning that a) a lot of people have seen horses and b) horses have been around for 12 million years? Those two facts had no relevance to your point. When you're writing something, you might want to consider leaving our stuff that has nothing to do with it. Just a bit of a pro tip from me to you.
And horseshoe nails aren’t meant to be placed in an area where if it were to go too deep it would hurt the horse. They’re usually placed on the outer parts so that it comes out of the top of the hoof and not into the horses foot.
@@superskrub4209. Nails do far more to secure things in place than just a little bit of friction in the hole. Nail 2 boards together and see if gravity and some shaking will pull the nail and bottom board out. (It won’t)
Also the enviroment they run in and what they do. If they regularily walk on hard surfaces, ie roads, carrying heavy loads, they might need horse shoes
@@TreesandStuff69It's a regional thing. Some regions use the "oo" in "soon", others use the "oo" in "foot". Similar regional discrepancies can occur in "roof".
adapted doesn’t mean perfectly suited for. >50% of humans used to die before age 15, and yet we were still adapted to our environment. just because a species is adapted to doing something doesn’t mean it’s good at it, just that it’s good enough at it.
@@unit0023 Good enough to pass it's genes in time, cause nature is all about passing your genes to maintain the species, doesn't matter if the animal die with like 5 years only
Horseshoes play a crucial role in maintaining the health and functionality of horse hooves. They provide protection against wear and injury, especially for working horses whose hooves might otherwise deteriorate quickly. The shoes also offer additional traction and can improve balance, which is vital for horses performing various tasks. While not all horses may require shoes, those with weaker or abnormal hoof structures often rely on them to remain sound. Properly fitted horseshoes can also prevent hoof-related diseases and support overall equine health.
Most animals walk on their toes. Digitigrade literally means "to walk on one's toes". Ungulates also walk on their toes unlike plantigrade animals, like humans and bears, that walk on the balls of their feet and heels.
@@Venom_Shrew yeah😅I was just making a banter on what a flex that is; since for us humans that would be pretty painful and tiring. See: ballet dancers. Its already tiring sometimes even walking on the balls of our feet haha
@@fa_x4475 Not for people with autism, apparently, they have toes of adamantium. One of my nieces is autistic and walks on her toes like she was born that way. Can't imagine that's good for her back or her knees though...
