I love how you can so clearly demonstrate why something doesn’t work and what to do to improve. Also, all of your points can be adopted by anyone at any size.
Why would I never wear this ? First of all because the skirt is ill structured, it misses fitting vertical darts at the waist so when you sit or bend over there is no ugly bump at the hips as it shows on the video. So first: skirt is a no-no.
At least somebody was brave enough to say it. The outfit was decent, but the skirt should be tailored. It’s swallowing her up in my opinion and I really don’t want to make it seem mean or discouraging to her. I personally just think she should tailor it and it would look better on her.
Gap between boots and skirts drives me batty … but still see it everywhere… looks ok on models but not shorter people. I’m so glad you address this is🙈
I love the fact that she is wearing a turtleneck! And the final outfit is beautiful! All the pieces are beautiful, one just needs to know how to put them together. Tights w the shorter boot would also work, if you dont have higher boots!❤
long boots and long skirt looks a bit rubbish unless it's a flowing skirt imo. I would put this with heeled ankle boots, the gap looks OK then as you're making a feature of the boots. The long boots are fighting with the skirt length. tbh I don't think these midi lengths are especially flattering to anyone. A maxi skirt should be longer than this.
Lydia you are quite simply my style queen now! You explain everything so clearly and I have learned so much from your videos. You always look absolutely impeccable - the epitome of timeless style and elegance ❤
Thank you for making videos about fashion maths. I am trying to learn how to piece together outfits and this is a huge help! Please continue to make more!
To me the coat and the skirt worked well considering their shades are similar It is the black turtle neck that was too much and made the look discombobulated If she changed it to a white or cream turtle neck I think it would have worked just fine Also the boot trick is brilliant
That combination works in a mild temperature country. In a cold country, probably the skirt would have to go or the "malfunction" wardrobe stays, because between looking rightfully stylish and being warm, I think the last is far more important. Though the leather jacket with the skirt looks pretty good.
Would love it if you could do more styling videos on prints & colours 😍 Zara is doing a lot of colour & print rn and been tempted to get a few of the skirts, blouses & dresses!
Lydia, do you think you can do a video on how to style this particular maxi shirt? I'm considering added it to my wardrobe but not completely sure how I style it. Lots of love
I know why you would never wear it, because the second version looks better on you. But the first version has a lot going for it. It depends on: one's personal style / context / body composition.
I'd love to see you style that skirt for spring/summer. I have a cornsilk (pale yellow-cream) maxi from Samsœ that I want to take to Paris, but I'm struggling with the correct tops. My nude sandals with a low heel look better than my white sneakers or my tricolor (white, navy, cognac) loafers. I don't like my cognac ballet flats with it at all! Thanks!
The way Ipeleng has found comfort in her awkwardness and quirkiness, it reminds me of Doja Cat. She's just who she is and she's good at it. She truly found herself in this show😍❤️.
Ipeleng has won my heart. She's a true introvert and she's representing us introverts. For someone who is shy, she is very brave for auditioning to become part of such a big❤. It's beautiful to see her grow on this show. She was initially very reserved but she's grown to find her confidence in who she is and that's the win for her🎉. I love it for her.
Lydia, I have enjoyed fashion my whole life, but much of the advice is repetitive (emphasize waist; rules of thirds, blah blah). THANK YOU for breathing new life into modern day style tips.
I’m on a budget for business casual workwear. I’m starting a new job so I need a wardrobe. What kind of basic staples should I get to get the most out of each piece?
I really like these straight maxi skirts and am considering getting one, but I am wondering if this is something you would transition into warmer weather (summer) or is it for cooler temps only? If you would transition it to summer, how might you do so?
