I messed up by getting the Platinum first. It's such a turn-off not being able to get a welcome offer for the Green and Gold even if you plan on being a long-term customer. The Platinum should at least have 3x on Dinning.
Yeah those are solid multipliers. I just hope that the other transfer partners they plan to announce throughout the year will make their ecosystem more compelling!
@@KevinYang me too, for now just moving Active Cash over and letting the pile get bigger. Honestly I could do the alliance thing and get flights on any of the legacy carriers if I need to
Makes sense that you cancelled the card that you did. I think the Bonvoy Brilliant would be a great card for you as the Platinum status should be powerful in Asia. Great video Kevin!
@@KevinYang Yeah might be worthwhile to wait. I haven't but have heard of how great it can be from friends ... nice lounge, good breakfast, and the like.
@@robert8311 Really just anything you need to contact the company for, the experience has been way better than others. Even just the ability to do pretty much anything via live chat
I have the Gold and the Blue Business Plus. I use the Gold for groceries and the BBP as the catch all for business that the Chase Ink Cash doesn't have higher multipliers. I am still considering the Platinum when I start travelling internationally (in two years). I am considering cancelling the Gold and keeping the BBP.
The Amex Platinum is an amazing card! Lots of people say the Gold is a great everyday card, and if I qualified for the welcome bonus I probably would too! Do you use the credits?
@@KevinYang I don’t go to Dunkin or Five Guys on a regular basis. I don’t use RESY. Not sure I will keep the Gold as I can still save my MR points with my AmEx Blue Business Plus.
I think there will be some small effect. Given it's a charge card, utilization doesn't really change, but payment history does. However because it's a relatively new card anyways, I'm not too worried
I have the brilliant card. It isn’t worth it. 6X on every Marriott card, including the brilliant you’re better off with the Marriott business and Ritz Carlton combination.
Ritz is 6x multiplier and $450, has better priority pass, same 85k FNA, net costs $150 after $300 united travel bank hack. Brilliant is $650, net $350 after annoying monthly dining credit. $350-$150… Basically is Marriott Gold upgrade to Platinum status worth $200/year? I am downgrading Brilliant in October.
I'm planning on cancelling my Plat and getting the Brilliant next year (I have a family to eat up that restaurant credit easily.) I currently have the Ritz.
Brilliant isn’t worth it unless you’re at Marriotts a lot. Definitely not worth canceling platinum with transferable points. I have not got upgrades with Brilliant. Ritz has same FNA for cheaper.
@@RITPA dang, I was hoping that Platinum status would have some upgrades with Marriotts. I was planning on using the two 85k credits (Ritz/Billiant) on an anniversary weekend for me and the misses. I would use up the $300 Ritz travel credit and the $300 Brilliant credit pretty easily, so using the two nights certificate on >$800 per night room at a Ritz or St.Regis.
@@KevinYang blue business plus is no annual fee..... after going through 2 plats, 2 golds, 1 business gold between my wife and i we just kept the BBP to hold the points transferred most of it to charles schwab to invest.
Great video. I also primarily travel within Asia. So many great places here and having higher level of hotel status is a big plus. I was upgraded to a suite in Shenzhen, China for having Hilton Silver status before!
@@KevinYang It is hard to say for Hiltons in Asia as I have not stayed in many. But for IHG properties, I would say 90% chance as an IHG Platinum member. The upgrades are usually much more than just a higher floor but almost never a super upgrade (but has happened before).
Good video. I might have to let go 1 of amex cards in the future. I currently have: Green Gold Biz Platinum BBP Marriot biz BCP I recently got the plat biz to test it out. If it works ill keep it might cancel my green, although i really like it for broad travel & air b&bs. If i dont get value from plat then I’ll cancel in yr 2 Im keeping my Gold. The changes work for me Im keeping the Marriott biz for the FNC. but i do want the brilliant for platinum status & to stack elite nights with the biz card. Definitely keeping the BBP Will mostly likely downgrade the BCP to the BCE I want to also add the delta gold or platinum
That's a lot of Amex cards? The cancelling of Green sounds right given all your other cards and how you use them. Were you able to get a high welcome offer on the biz plat?
