Don't get me wrong, I do still really love DaVinci Resolve. I think I'll keep editing in both programs for different projects depending on the needs of the project. Do you use Fusion much in DVR?
Not bad not bad, now wait for davinci 😂😂 the features adobe providing going to charge unexpected fees, while davinci will probably drop a banger without a single extra penny. And sorry there's no way I'm jumping back to the adobe, Davinci ❤
@@Envato_Video When it comes to motion graphics Adobe has an upperhand i can agree with you on that one but the updates davinci brings in each versions are highly appreciated. Adobe has been here for a very long time and davinci almost killed their domination in a short period of time. When Comparing the pricing Davinci has one time fee, if you are youtuber the free version is more than enough but adobe will empty your pocket if you don't have a stable revenue. Anyway thanks for the reply bro 👍
@@Envato_Video Stability should be the first priority, and the second one is pricing, as an editor these are the 2 main factor i would consider. Actually there isnt any perfect software, its what you are comfortable working on. I have worked with Avid media composer for a long time, later switch to Premiere and finally landed on davinci and i love it. Working on davinci is really fun, the main factor is i can just handover the project file to the colorist and it avoids any complications with conformations.
That sums up the upcoming updates for Premier Pro 2025. Thanks for keeping us posted. I love the tailored initiative taken by team Envato here for video people! ♥
Thanks for the information, Tom! I've been working with Final Cut Pro for 10 years now and have never tried Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. As a Mac user, could you tell me more about them? I really like After Effects, but I haven't seriously considered switching from FCP. What do you think - should I?
I started in Premiere (at like CS6, dark ages), then went to FCP at film school and one particular agency I worked with around that time, then back to Premiere as a freelancer but was doing all of my grading in Resolve. Around 2019 I started doing some edits in Resolve and still cutting bigger client work in Premiere. Then around 2021 I ripped the bandaid off and said "Resolve all the way baby!"...but never really got the hang of Fusion enough to replace After Effects. So now I'm mainly Resolve > AE > Resolve round tripping and the occasional project in Premiere. That's my long winded way of saying the best tool for the job is the one that you have access to, are comfortable in and can get you the results you're trying to achieve. For my hot take, if I had to choose one strictly for editing: Resolve. If you're splitting your time between editing and motion, Premiere is going to be a better choice for the AE roundtrip - especially now they're improving their color management. The best thing about Resolve however is if you want to dip a toe in and see if you like it, the free offering is remarkably powerful. Why not give it a try?
i used to work with final cut too for many years and occasionally on premiere, i swapped for da vinci and it has been the best decision! avoid Adobe at all costs.
Object selection is for me the most interesting one. I use a plugin called Mask Prompter in AE, but I think Argentina's economy is more stable that the plugin. I hope it works as advertised in the end, because I remember when Adobe promoted the "super duper cool MORPH EDIT", that was supposed to be magic, making morphing cuts to eliminate jump cuts, but... the tools is awfully and it works really poorly.
I had the exact same take. That product demo of object selection was very impressive. But, like you say, we've all been burned before many times over. So I'll believe it when I see it. But I am excited none the less.
@@Envato_Tom yeah, my take is that they are using the SAM 2 from Meta Ai model that is open source and putting it to the test! Let's hope it works well! 🤞
When it comes to editing programs and VFX, etc. I am a software polygamist, I use both depending on the task. And for multicam editing Grass Valey Edius is the best in the galaxy
3. Adobe's new color management bro just talking about the CST in and CST out in color page... when there is literally also automatic color management in resolve.... even more... that even exist from long time When you are just editor that dont care about coloring but using bunch of camera sources.... just use DaVinci YRGB color managed and forget about that CST thing... Or you're from VFX world, there is ACES timeline natively working inside.....
The update is great for editors who only work in Premiere, and don't already do the round trip to DaVinci Resolve and back. Resolve is still the stand out for color overall, agreed.
